Chapter 3
On the hunt
As Yuma walked into his class, he saw that everyone was looking freaked out about something.
"What's everyone all freaked out about?" Asked Yuma.
"This" said Tori holding her D-Pad. It was an article from the news, as Yuma read it he kept hoping back to one word over and over again. Vampire. The article was about people who were attacked at night by that thing.
"This is getting out of hand" said Flip.
"I must admit", said Caswell. "Even I'm starting to believe in the whole vampire thing".
"You don't suggest that we actually go after a monster, do you?" Asked Cathy.
"You got any other suggestions?" Asked Bronk.
"And how do you suggest do we do that?", asked Tori. "What are six kids gonna do against against a bloodsucker".
"I think I do", said Yuma. "Meet me at my house after school".
After school.
Everyone was in Yuma's room as he scrounged through his junk.
"What exactly are you looking for?" Asked Tori.
"Just give me a few minutes to find it", answered Yuma. "Let's see, it should be, aha, here it is". Yuma then came out of his junk pile holding a brown covered book.
"What is that?" Asked Bronk.
"The encyclopaedia Monstranica", said Yuma. "It contains everything we need to know about monsters".
"What does it say about vampires?" Asked Flip. Yuma then flipped through the pages until he got to the V section.
"Here we go", said Yuma. "Apart from the stuff we already know, their stereotypical appearance is usually because they don't look after their skin properly, they can fly in their human form as well".
"What does it say about catching them?" Asked Flip.
"Not much", said Yuma. "There are things on how to kill it, but not catch it".
"Then I say we go out and catch ourselves a vampire" said Bronk.
"This BETTER work" said Tori.
"Don't worry it will", said Flip. "What's the worst that could happen?".
"Uh, we get our blood sucked out of us" said Caswell.
"Well, aside from that?" Asked Bronk.
So, after the sun went down, they went out onto the streets of Heartland city.
"How long are we going to keep this up?" Asked Cathy.
"Yeah, we've been at this for at least two hours" added Yuma.
"Come on guys", said Flip. "Don't ya wanna be famous?".
"What I WANT, is to rest my head on a pillow", said Tori. "And NOT get my neck bitten".
"Uh, Yuma", said Caswell. "What is a vampire's proffered meal of choice?".
"Blood from Virgins" answered Yuma. Everyone sighed with relief.
"Thank god", said Flip. "I thought…..Wait a second. I'M a virgin!".
"Me too" added Caswell.
"We all are" finished Bronk. They then heard an ear piercing loud shriek.
"What was that?" Asked Cathy. They then started to wave their flashlights around.
"Who's there?" Asked Tori. The shriek then came again. They all looked and saw something flying towards them.
"RUN!" Shouted Yuma. They then ran as fast as their legs could carry them, with the creature not to far behind. Yuma was a head of them by far.
"How is he running this fast?" Panted Cathy.
"Yeah, how come he's not on the track team?" Asked Bronk.
"Less chatting more running!" Shouted Tori. The creature then flew over them and grabbed Yuma in it's claws, before flying off.
"YUMA!" They shouted.
"Help!" Shouted Yuma. They ran after him until they got to the outskirts of the city.
"That's one fast vampire" panted Cathy.
"Look where it's headed" said Flip. He pointed to a cliff looking over Heartland city. Upon the top, was a manor.
"She's headed towards", said Bronk. "Akashiya Manor".
