"Hello, Mother," Loki spoke, looking over to Frigga, "Did I make you proud?"
"Loki, please, don't make this worse." Frigga warned him sincerely, knowing full well her husband's wrath.
"define 'worse." Loki humored her.
"Enough" Odin shouted, catching Loki and Frigga's attention once more, "I will speak to the prisoner alone."
Friggga looked at her son one last time before she left, leaving Loki with Odin.
Loki playfully stood at attention, before breaking into a chuckle, "I really don't see what the fuss is all about."
"Do you not feel the gravity of your crimes?" Odin questioned, "Wherever you go, there is war, ruin, and death."
"I went to Midgard to rule the people of Earth as a benevolent god. Just like you." Loki said with a smug look.
"We are not gods. We are born, we live, we die. Just humans do." Odin explained, hoping Loki saw the wisdom in his words.
"Give or take 5,000 years." Loki rebutted.
"All this because Loki desires a throne."
"It is my birthright!" Loki stated strongly.
"Your birthright…was to die as a child!" Odin shouted. He leaned forward to Loki, a smirk now on his face.
"Cast out onto a frozen rock. If I had not taken you in, you would not be here now to hate me." Odin spoke, "Neither would you have known Thor, or Frigga, or even Ezri, for that matter."
"If I am for the axe, then for mercy's sake, just swing it. It's not that I don't love our little talks, it's just…I don't love them." Loki said, enjoying angering his 'All-Father' so much.
"Frigga and Ezri are the only reason you 're still alive, and you will never see them again," Odin confessed, making Loki stagger back in disbelief, "you will spend the rest of your days in the dungeons."
"And what of Thor? You'll make that witless oaf king while I rot in chains."
"Thor must strive to undo the damage you have done."
"He will bring order to the nine realms and then yes, he will be king
"And…what of Ezri?" Loki asked.
"Ezri will remain by Thor's side. She will be what Thor and Asgard need: as an advisor or as his queen."
Ezri had finally had a long night's rest, changing into a simply turquoise dress with a light chest arm as she used to normally. Everyone had treated her kindly and welcomed her back in rejoicing, but her mind kept wandering to Loki.
Thor had told her everything that happened, feeling regretful for not being there when Loki needed someone.
"You've awakened." Ezri looked over to the door and smiled as she rose, bowing to the Queen and Thor.
"Thor, Lady Frigga." Ezri signed, but Frigga pulled her into a tight hug.
"I'm so glad to see you once more, my child." Frigga said softly, smiling as she felt relieved to have Ezri back.
"Thor told me everything. I'm sorry you had to suffer alone, but I'm so glad he found you when he did," Frigga said, pulling Ezri gently down to sit on the bed with hers as Thor leaned back against the wall, "Tell us everything that happened."
Ezri nodded, explaining in detail her attack that day, her sister is responsible for throwing her but slapping a bracelet onto her that she still couldn't take off, calling Heimdall every day, sleeping in the ocean, eating in the ocean but explaining the times the humans attempted to haunt her. She didn't have much to share but explained the chase and the shocks she endured before she was taken to where Thor was at.
"I'm sorry you had to suffer that, Ezri. I swear to you that you'll never suffer once more." Thor assured her.
"You can't promise something like that, but I appreciate the thought behind those words. Thank you, my dear friend." Ezri signed.
"I'm glad to hear you say that son," Frigga and Ezri rose as they bowed to Odin, "I trust you intend to keep that promise."
"I will, All-Father." Thor spoke.
"How is Loki?" Frigga asked. Loki was stubborn by nature, just like Odin, but Loki was self-destructive.
"Loki is to serve the rest of his life in the dungeons. He has shown no regret for his choice and has made a mockery of not just us, but for Asgardians." Odin informed them, noticing the frown on Ezri's face; his wife Frigga with a look of concern.
"Husband…"
"Both you Frigga, and Ezri, are no longer permitted to see Loki from here on out, am I understood? This is an order." Odin continued.
Ezri nodded, but her heart broke for Loki. She tried not to think of it, but her mind kept going back to their kiss, the tricks they used to pull on others…the nights he would read to her. She closed her eyes, fighting her tears as she bit her lower lip; she would never see him or his smile again.
"I know of your relationship with Loki, Lady Ezri," Odin continued, "but I hope you can find it in your heart to know that he chose this path; no one forced him here. I only hope you will remain close with Thor, and know that we have your best interest at heart here."
"Enough, Father." Thor spoke up, knowing that Ezri was hurting.
"Loki is no different than your family, who are power-hungry, and power-driven. He merely made you care for him, that is the only difference." Odin said and Ezri bowed her head, nodding silently.
"That's enough, husband, we understand," Frigga calmed her husband, but Ezri was still her main focus right now, "Now, dear, why don't you show me this bracelet they put on you?"
Ezri nodded showing her left wrist, the gold bracelet still adorned on her wrist.
"It is magical by those sirens…this is indeed what blocked Heimdall's vision." Odin explained, his theory correctly for the situation.
"But why go through such lengths, we must be ready for war." Thor advised.
"King Almere and his people are also dealing with the Chitauri as well, do not rush for war so quickly, my son." Odin advised him.
Ezri stood before Thor, smiling as she said in sign language, "But you are correct. We should prepare ourselves and be ready for it. We can start small, training the men to deflect spears in the meantime."
Odin smirked, Ezri would make a good advisory indeed.
"You're right, in the meantime, I'll need to follow up on the leads on the Chitauri sightings; will you accompany me?" Thor asked, "I understand if you need to rest, however."
"If you need me, I'm with you until the end, my friend." Ezri signed to Thor, making him smile.
"Before you two go, I want to present something to you." Odin said as he handed his female guard an item.
Ezri kneeled before him, noticing in her vision the guard standing before her. The guard took her left hand and felt something slide onto her pointed finger.
"This is crafted by fine Asgardian white gold. This will allow not allow Heimdall to find you, but it is a beacon. A way in which for you to return to us in the future, from anywhere you are." Odin spoke.
Ezri wasn't his child but his family adored her, and although Thor had his childhood friends, Thor had doted on her since her arrival almost like a brother would a sister, his wife almost treating her as a child. With her relation to King Almere…
It would be the perfect marriage alliance.
"Thank you, All-Father." Ezri signed as she rose to her feet, smiling in appreciation of his sincere gift.
"Come, we must be off." Thor said, and she smiled, hooking her arm with his in excitement.
"Be safe, you two." Frigga shouted as Thor pulled her out of the room, his parents watching them as they exited the room.
Thor took them outside, pulling her against him before they flew off. Frigga looked over at her husband; she knew her husband all too well.
"Thor would make her his advisor, there is no need to try and force them together." Frigga spoke.
"And what of Ezri? To have her defend herself against any man who would fight for her hand? No one is worthy of her." Odin said.
He wanted Frigga to realize that Ezri was a threat as much of an ally. Her family disowned her, yet she made a name for herself, a threat against those she fought against. True, she was always able to protect herself but for how long?
"I understand, and I feel the same as you do but…Loki adored her."
"And he led himself into a life in the dungeons; she would've been too good for him."
"Loki needs her- "
"As much as Thor now needs her. We will await to see what happens."
After many days and nights, Ezri lost count of the days that passed but she fought relentlessly side by side with Thor as they cleared the outskirts of Asgard of Chitauri, making their way inward but the attacks were slowly beginning to reduce in numbers. After clearing out the next village of Chitauri's, Ezri healed the villagers one by one but understood as a few kept their distance from her.
Ezri knew it was because she wasn't Asgardian to them.
Ezri didn't let it show and made her way into the forest as Thor spoke with the village leader, wanting a moment alone. She had heard the whispers, talk of banishment spreading like wildfire, blaming her for the reason for Loki's madness.
Ezri sat against a nearby tree, letting out a heavy sigh as she closed her eyes, taking deep breaths to calm herself.
"Lost in thought?" Ezri smiled, hearing Thor's voice as she felt him sit beside her. She nodded, resting her head against his shoulder as she felt relaxed. He wrapped an arm around her shoulder, allowing her to rest her head now against his chest.
"Don't let the rumors bother you, they will disappear before they make their way back to All-Father." Thor assured her but he knew Ezri wasn't convinced.
"Thank you for taking me away from the castle. I'm sure I would've broken into Loki's dungeon by now." Ezri signed.
"Well, I'm glad to have prevented that. All-Father would've probably exiled you if you did," Thor replied, "Things are finally slowing down here on Asgard in fact. Did you….want to go back to Earth for a while?"
Ezri smiled, looking up at him, "Secretly want to visit Jane, do you?"
"Mostly because of you. Although yes, I'd try to go see her if I could. Are you open to going back?" Thor asked and she nodded.
"Only until you need me, of course." Ezri signed to him.
"Or until you want to come back; you might not like it there." Thor reminded her.
"You're right…thanks, Thor. But don't push yourself for my sake, okay?" Ezri signed with a smile. Thor had always been the big brother she always wanted: funny, kind, if not dense sometimes, but thoughtful in his own way.
"I promise. Now come, let us head back to Asgard." Thor said as he stood up, helping her onto her feet.
He would never admit it to her but he knew what his father was up to, the missions his father sent him on with her, making sure only one tent was sent for them; even her clothing was slowly beginning to be colored similar to his.
On the way back to the castle, Ezri froze when she heard a flap over them, but Thor didn't pay any mind. Ezri stuck close to him, her hand on his back, but didn't clutch onto him as she followed him. Thor looked over to her and saw the panic in her eyes, and his eyes softened for her for a moment.
"Come now, take my arm. Seriously, are you afraid of the woods now?" Thor teased, playing off her behavior as he offered his arm to her. Ezri smiled as she placed her hand on his arm when the trees fell over before them abruptly.
Thor was ready to fight when he kicked back, making Ezri gasp a Pegasus stood before her in all its glory, his black body with white feathers on his wings. The Pegasus stood on its hind legs before ramming his head into Loki, throwing him back beside Thor.
"Ezri, stay back!" Thor yelled but Ezri stood still as the Pegasus slowly approached her.
The Pegasus lowered his head to hers, gently snuggling against her before he bowed to her. Ezri kneeled before the creature, carefully caressing Pegasus's nose as Thor slowly stood back up, dusting himself off.
"Why is there a Pegasus here?" Ezri asked him in sign language.
"Pegasus is the type to pick their partner, their life companion. It seems this one has chosen you, Ezri." Thor said, explaining the situation. He had seen this once before but thought it was most inspiring how protective Pegasus had been over her. And so soon too.
"Do you wish to care for this Pegasus, Ezri?" Thor asked, curious to see her response.
Ezri smiled and nodded in excitement, standing with the Pegasus, following her lead as it too stood with her.
"Outstanding! I'll have our men station him and provide him with the protective gear. Although, you will have to summon him if you need him." Thor explained.
Ezri looked at them in a panic, but Thor smirked.
"Not to fear. They know when you need them, but of course, going to him is also an option." Thor assured her.
Ezri signed 'thank you' to him, giggling as Pegasus nudged her.
"Come, hop on to him. I'll be right behind you." Thor said as he lifted her onto Pegasus.
Ezri smiled as Thor lifted her onto the Pegasus before making sure she was secure for a moment before he flew off with the spin of his hammer, with Ezri and her new companion following behind him.
Tony had struggled to still sleep after Pepper and his ordeal against Aldrich Killian, both still injured and shaken by what happened but he knew it was a work in progress. Back at Stark Towers temporarily until he finished the renovation of the weapons warehouse he once owned, he hoped to turn it into a safe home for not only himself but for the new Avenger's Initiative SHIELD approved.
Tony was pouring himself a drink when he heard thunder, a familiar light shining down on his balcony, and smirked when he saw Thor standing there with Ezri on a horse, an excited smile on her face. Thor helped her down before they both walked into the tower Tony approached them with a drink in hand.
"Ah, my two favorite Asgardians. What brings you two here? No trouble coming back, I hope?" Tony questioned as he took a sip of his drink.
"No, not at all, not to worry. We actually came by on behalf of Ezri," Thor assured Tony, smiling as he looked over to Ezri, "She'd like to take you up on that offer and stay with you for a while."
Ezri smiled but she could feel Tony's pain from where she stood and slowly approached him.
"Of course, I'd love to call in Bruce and the others; they've been asking about you." Tony agreed, his brain already working on different tests to work on.
Tony was quickly alarmed when Ezri stood before him, smiling at him apologetically before she placed a hand on his bare arm, her hand glowing a dim white color. He slowly felt all his soreness, pain, and the aches of his injuries slowly disappear; even his anxiety had disappeared.
"Ezri can sense pain and emotions as part of being a healer, I apologize for her abruptness." Thor explained.
"No, that's good. I could get used to that, saves a lot of trips to the doctors." Tony said, feeling lively all of a sudden as her hand dropped away.
"And just so we are clear: no experiments, no mistreatment, and nothing that'll draw attention to her; am I understood?" Thor asked of him.
"Fine, I'll be good." Tony promised; he wasn't about to anger a God and he'd known all too well the feeling of being used for a horrifying reason.
Thor smiled gratefully but he looked down at Ezri one last time, feeling guilty for leaving her here alone with people he only met briefly.
"I'll come back to visit you as often as I can, I promise." Thor swore to her.
"You better, or I'll never forgive you." Ezri signed when a voice came out through the room.
"You better, or I'll never forgive you." A female voice rang through the room, making Ezri gasp.
"That is my Ezri AI, her name is Ariel," Tony explained, "just like the tablet you used to use, she is a being who will translate everything as you sign. I didn't want you to feel like you didn't have a voice here."
Ezri smiled, feeling emotional once more, using sign language once more.
"Thank you so much for this Tony, this is one of the sweetest things anyone has done for me." Ariel voiced for Ezri.
"Great, now that this is settled, I must head off," Thor said, "be sure to call me if you need me for anything."
Thor didn't hesitate to pull Ezri into one last hug, Ezri hugging him back before he reluctantly pulled away.
"Behave, and listen to Tony; you are his guest. If it's too much, remember you can come home at any time." Thor reminded her, watching her sign back to him with a smile on her face.
"I will and please, call me if you need me. My hand is yours." Ariel's voice translated.
"Will do. Come, Pegasus." Thor said as he stood beside Ezri's mount, teleporting them back home.
"Come, why don't I show you where you can bunker for now? Do you prefer a bed or something in the water? Is it a necessity?" Tony asked her.
"No, it is not a requirement but I'm more than happy with a bed. The water is a necessity but I can go a long time without it, no need to worry." Ezri signed as his AI translated for her.
"Perfect," Tony spoke as he escorted her towards the corner of the room where there were two doors side by side, "we've got a lot happening here but I hope you can help me out, kid."
"Of course, whatever you need, Sir Tony." Ezri responded in sign language.
Tony smiled as he opened the door for her, allowing Ezri to look around the room in awe. Walking into the room, she was overwhelmed by the house simple and yet, different from her room on Asgard. In the middle of the room was a small bedroom big enough for just two people with black shiny flooring with a simple beige rug on the side of the bed.
Walking towards the door on the side, she pushed it open and was alarmed by the size of what Thor explained to her as the bathroom. To see it in person was such an odd thing, yet she couldn't wait to try it out.
"Jarvis, can you get a measurement on Ezri and ordered clothing for her; all necessities? Notify Pepper so she can bring them over." Tony said softly.
"Of course, sir." Jarvis responded.
"Oh, and notify the team our visitor is here, and to come to Stark Towers if they want to see her." Tony reminded him.
"Already done, sir."
