Ophelia woke up and got ready for the day she showered, then did her hair. It was one of those days where she just wanted to explore and see what was going on. The others would be doing that job today; she didn't want to bug them. So she walked around to see what was going on. She saw the regular in the underground, people doing drugs, people stealing, and street fights, while she was out she saw an old blind man telling prophecies for a coin. Ophliea thought "Oh what the hell" and walked over to him. She put a coin in his cup before he stared at her for what felt like 30 seconds. Ophliea thought she was just scammed and sighed before turning to walk away. As she was walking away the blind man cleared his throat
"You are an expectant mother, yes?" Now that caught Ophliea's attention she hasn't told anyone that and was starting to get freaked out
"Come sit next to me and listen to what an old man has to say, I think you will find it informative." Ophelia obliged and sat down next to him.
"I see that your child will have an important role to play in the future."
"The future? How are you seeing anything, aren't you blind?" Ophelia questioned.
"Even a blind man can have sight if they look for it." The blind man said
Ophelia didn't understand everything this old guy said was cryptic but she just shrugged and listened.
"A sliver of light will shine on our world soon which has been shrouded in darkness for so very long. I see two paths, one where your child will help the light grow into the sun and illuminate the sky."
Ophelia smiled of course her kid will make a change in the world. It is her kid as well as Levi's but it's hers foremost. Ophelia wanted to hear what the other path is too.
"And the other one is where your child will put out that light and the world will be in darkness forever more."
Now that scared Ophliea he knows she is an expected mother she had told nobody else this so he clearly knows something, so now that this guy is saying her child will plunge the world into darkness scared her, her child will not plunge anything into darkness if she had a say about it.
"The father of your child is capable, yes?" the old man asks
"Capable in what?" Ophelia asks
"In battle of course." the old man speaks
Ophelia has seen Levi and Farlan spar a few times and he wiped the floor with him every time, Farlan was capable but Levi is on a whole different level. She always wondered how he learned how to fight like that. She even asked him once.
Flashback
After Levi and Farlan spared Levi like always beat him into the ground Ophelia walked over to him.
"How do you always win in every fight I have ever seen you in?" Ophelia questioned
"Years of experience." Levi answered
" I don't think experience makes you do those moves, did you have training?" Ophelia asked
Levi had that same old poker face but Ophliea noticed his eyes looked as if memories were flashing through them before he spoke.
"I was trained by a bastard that doesn't deserve the breath talking about him." Levi snarled
Ophelia was beyond curious but if she asked Levi he wouldn't talk no matter how hard she tried. So she saved it for another day. She had been doing that a lot recently, always the next day but when the day comes she can never get the words out.
Flashback ends.
"The most capable person I have ever seen." Ophelia responds
"I am seeing the child's father as the past and present, but the child will be the future." the old man speaks.
"The future of what?" Ophelia questioned
"The future of whatever the child chooses."
"What will my child choose? Please tell me!' Ophelia demands.
"Go along, let an old man rest." the old man says
Ophelia realized he wasn't going to say anything and sighed and walked off. She had groceries to go get anyway.
When the old man sees the woman disappear around the corner he sighs just like she did a few moments ago. "No matter what choice that child makes, the burden will be heavy, just like the child's father." "But that child will carry that weight and other's baggage but how well he carries that weight has yet to be seen."
Ophelia swung the door of her house open. She had been out all day and listened to an old man talk for hours about her child, and she did not like what he was saying about it. What did he mean but the future? What light was he seeing? How would her kid put out that light? She shrugged and walked in. She would not let that happen to her kid. She sees the sink and all the dishes in it "I have been pretty lazy recently, I better clean no time like the present Levi even taught me how."
Flashback
It was her first time in her new friend's house or well it was more like a base of operations Isabel somehow figured out where she lives and invited her over. "You're going to love it there. I know you'll like Farlan and Levi the more you know about him." She remembers how she first met them and how she talked about Levi Ophliea would be the first to admit she was never that confident but I guess that's what alcohol did to people. Isabel leads her up the stairs to their place and opens the door. The first thing she sees is Farlan sitting on the couch doing nothing and Levi cleaning some blade.
Farlan looks over at the door and sees Ophelia and Isabel standing there before he says "I remember you, Ophelia, right?"
"Ye-" Ophelia tries to say before Levi cuts her off "What is she doing here?" Levi demands
"Oh come on big bro! You remember her right?" Isabel verbalizes
"I remember her but why is she here? you can't just bring anyone in here." Levi announces
"She isn't just anybody you know, she is our new friend." Isabel declares
Ophelia was standing there unable to say anything she just didn't know what to say.
Before Levi says anything Isabel says " She will be our new friend and there is nothing you can do about it. Isn't that right Farlan?"
Farlan starts chuckling before he speaks " Yeah Levi."
Levi stares daggers at him before muttering "Betrayal." Now Farlan was laughing his ass off Isabel was doing the same thing as Farlan and Ophelia was just giggling
"Fine, if she is going to stay she will learn how to clean." Levi states
For the next week every day, Ophelia would go there and Levi would teach her how to clean.
Flashback ends.
Ophelia starts on the dishes not really paying attention about halfway through she sees a green blur out of her kitchen window fly though a bridge and tackle another figure into a pyramid of boxes she then watches as the figure pulls something out and then a sword goes flying through the air. Ophelia watches in amazement at what was going on in front of her. Before she knows it another green blur comes from the sky and tries to stab the figure but the person blocks it.l The little person does a backflip and the green dressed man rushes at him and now they are stuck in a stalemate blade against blade. Before she realized the little guy "LEVI?!" she screams in her head then she sees two other green dressed people come from behind a building with Farlan and Isabel. Levi instantly gives up when he sees them in handcuffs Ophelia can only stare as they put Levi in cuffs she sees the back of the green dressed man's cloak and sees the iconic Wings of Freedom.
"SCOUTS" Ophelia screams in her mind then the realization hits her " They were hired to kidnap a scout?!" Ophelia watches as her 3 friends are kneeling before what looks like the man in charge of these scouts. She opens her kitchen window to say something, yells something but no words come out she was shell shocked at what was going on.
"I'll ask a few questions" The blond haired man said
"Where did you get this" the blonde haired man was holding ODM gear in his hand.
"You guys are skilled with 3D Maneuver Gear." The blonde haired man states " Who taught you all that?"
Ophelia wondered about this too. They all seemed so natural when using it, did anyone here teach it she would learn it if she could, but that would have to wait until she had her baby.
The blonde haired man walks over to Levi and speaks " You're the leader right?" "Were you trained in the military?"
Levi didn't respond then the man behind him grabs his head and slams it into a dirty puddle. Ophelia was staring wide eyed at this. She was going to yell something but the words didn't come out again. How could she be so useless when her only friends were in trouble?
"YOU!" Isabel yells
"I'll ask one more time, where did you learn to use 3DM equipment."
"NOT FROM ANYONE! WE LEARNED IT OURSELVES!" Farlan said when Levi didn't speak up.
"Self taught you say" The blonde haired man said, " I don't buy it."
"It's just so we're able to rise even a bit in this dirty garbage place!' Farlan vocalizes " People who're used to sunlight like you guys would never understand!"
"That's enough, let bro go!" Isabel spits out "Don't be cocky just because your soldiers!"
Levi was staring at the leader of these scouts with hatred in his eyes. The man that was holding Levi down lifts him back up where he is sitting on his knees.
"My name is Erwin Smith." Erwin says."And yours is?"
"Levi" He says with spite
"Levi.." Erwin said, "Why don't we make a deal?'
"A deal?" Levi discusses
" I will let your crimes go unpunished, In return, you will lend me your strength." Erwin says "Join the Survey Corps."
Everyone there gasps at this offer. "And if I refuse?"
"The military police will have you, considering all of your crimes, you and your friends, won't be treated very nicely." Erwin turns his back to them
He turns around and stares at Levi "Choose which you prefer."
Levi sits there thinking for 13 seconds then saying "Fine."
Levi stands up and spits dirty water out of his mouth then staring daggers at Erwin before saying "I'll join the Survey Corps."
Erwin just smiled while looking at him.
"What about Ophelia Bro?!" Isabel stammers " I promised her that after the job we would get her out, I promised!"
"Who is Ophelia?" Erwin demanded.
"Just a friend, only known her for a few months. She can't use 3DM gear at all or fight." Erwin seems pleased with the response.
"Some promises are made to be broken Isabel."
Isabel just stares at Levi with fire in her eyes but says nothing. Levi,Farlan, and Isabel are taken away with the survey corps while Ophelia watched everything. When they left she walked over to her kitchen table, sat down and just started crying.
"What will I do? All my friends just got taken away! And what about.." She stares at her stomach. " I never told him about the child…" Ophelia knows about the Survey Corps and the missions she hears about them in the streets sometimes, and about the 60% mortality rate. If Levi dies what would she do about their child? She would obviously have to raise it by herself now, she hopes he would forgive her for not telling him but that would have to wait for another day like it always seems to. Ophelia eventually cries herself to sleep.
