Two months turned into six months, and everyone continued their life. Bucky threw himself into his work, but everyone was starting to feel the tension he was experiencing. Peter had assisted with distracTing with Steve and Sam's help but he grew more concerned.

Was Ezri okay?

When was her next mating season?

Was it same time each year?

Was Loki okay as well?

With Christmas right around the corner, he purchased her some gifts, but he still waited for her in her bedroom, sleeping on the floor.

The bed wasn't the same without her.

One minute, everyone was asleep but the Compound was put on alert, sirens going off, but the team couldn't figure out where the threat was coming from. Everyone was fully at attention, combing the compound when vibrations were beginning to be felt.

"Sir, we have hostiles outside, coming from the ocean."

"Everyone at attention, arms up!" Steve shouted, everyone rushing outside out as Jarvis broke down the hostiles.

"Jarvis, what are we looking at?" Tony asked as he shot up in the sky, trying to get a better look.

"Numerous enemies, almost the same as Lady Ariel's mating season." Jarvis explained.

"Well, I guess it's a whole new world after all."

Thunder ran through the sky, lightning to lighten up the night. Like clockwork, flying siren birds came down and the team tensed up; they were outnumbered here. Without any warning, a big wing bird landed onto the ground with others, male sirens coming out from the ocean.

The main bird siren looked over them when he noticed the man with glasses, his arms exposed to them; hissing loudly. The team noticed their throats were flickering and Tony mentally rolled his eyes; mating season.

"Lady Ezrielli's clan…." He muttered with distaste.

Peter's eyes widened, the team just as alarmed, Bucky's jaw clenched.

"Where is Ezri? What did you do to her?!" Peter questioned when a male siren flew oer and grabbed him.

The team leaped forward trying to stop them, but spears were aimed at them. The male siren sniffed Peter, and he was freaking out when he felt his talon on his neck.

"Our men are ensuring she she's in my bed by morning. We may have lost the war, but I will have her. And in order to do that, her clan has to go…you'll be first." He threatened, his talon, toying with the boys throat, Peter panicking; but he remembered Ezri's advice.

"Ezri, help me."

Without warning, a light tunnel shot down behind them and the team was smirking.

"Oh man, are you guys screwed." Sam stated.

Ezri walked out of the tunnel with Pegasus behind her, Loki and Thor in front of her as she narrowed her eyes at the male siren bird. Bucky's eyes widened when he saw her throat and chest light up almost magically and he now knew, it was mating season for them.

"Release him at ONCE! Or I swear, your death will not be quick by my hand." Ezri sneered, a chilling shiver running down some of her team members back; did war make her like this.

"I pinned you to the wall!" he shouted.

"I freed her," Loki spoke, his eyes glaring at him with pure anger, "and you'll experience true pain for each second that she had left them to dangle. Your blood will drip by my hand for hurting her. So put the boy down."

The male siren refused to let Peter go and Ezri whispered something, her Pegasus flying up as Thor turned to face the sirens in the ocean. Everyone tensed, everyone waiting for someone to make the first move when suddenly the male siren yelled in pain, dropping Peter instantly.

Revealing himself, Loki appeared behind him, his daggers cutting through his wings, falling onto the floor.

"You were warned." He muttered as Pegasus stood in front of Peter before fighting ensued around them.

Water bending the ocean, the team was quick to pick off the enemies but the sirens in the air were becoming more difficult to take on. They swooped in, trying to grab Peter but he was too fast for them but Ezri wasn't pleased.

"Leave him alone!" Ezri yelled as she jumped on the back of the flying siren, pulling him away as she lured him towards the water. Thankful the team was now her clan, Ezri began to sing. The flying sirens slowly looked over to her and took off after her.

"She's lured them! Stark, Sam, I need assistance!" Thor shouted as he took to the air with the winding of his hammer.

The team stayed on the fence, fighting off the stragglers but Loki wasn't one to wait. Getting on her Pegasus, he took to the sky, assisting as well. Ezri was being toss and dropped on other enemies, trying to compete, but struggled to get the water up to her fast enough. Now weaponless, timed her attacks perfectly for Tony and Thor; Sam's attacks just as relentless.

Feeling the unfamiliar heat crawl up her throat, Ezri fought a shiver as she felt her body become heated and her enemy was thrashing more before she snapped his neck. With an 'oof' escaping her lips, she landed in Loki's lap and his eyes were heated when he saw her throat.

"You've always had the worst timing darling."

"That just make it more fun, though, beloved." She rebutted, making him smile mischievously.

Spears were being thrown at Tony and he dodged them quickly before making quick work of them. The team wasted no time in fighting the enemies, at Tony rolled his eyes.

"How rude…"

Ezri let out a moan, groaning at the same time as a another wave hit her and Loki tensed up as he fought against incoming sirens; she was attracting them and was trying hard to control herself.

"I'll lure them, strike on sight!" Ezri shouted, kissing Loki on the chin before she dropped herself into the water.

Shifting into her siren form, she called onto the water to lift her up and began to call, singing as she attracted the enemies.

"Now!" Tony shouted before he and Thor began to strike at them, with Ezri swimming fast through the water, avoiding the strikes as she continued to lure them towards her. Still being overwhelmed, Ezri mustered herself as she grunted, creating a thin water tornado, sucking in the enemies; making it easier for them to pick them off.

It still wasn't enough though when she saw Loki being tailed by another flying siren and Ezri leaped out, latching onto the bird's back, she pulled out her knife and fought ferociously. Killing the siren easily, Loki caught her once as the enemies began to finally come to an end, landing at the dock.

Peter smiled when he saw Ezri running towards him and carefully pulled him into a hug before she quickly pulled away, looking over him.

"Are you okay, did he hurt you?" Ezri asked, looking over him for any injuries.

"No, I'm fine. Are you okay? You've been gone so long, what happened? Bucky was really miserable, you know-"

Bucky approached, and Peter immediately moved away to allow. Him his moment; he knew not to get on his bad side. Bucky pulled her into a chaste kiss, resting his forehead against hers as he took in her prescene.

"Don't leave again like that…" he said, Ezri feeling his exhaustion.

"I promise, I'm not leaving you again like this." She whispered, taking in his scent.

God she missed him.

The wingless siren groaned painfully on the floor, catching Loki's attention.

"Ah, I nearly forgot you…" Loki said, dragging him away.

"We're glad you're back but why did they come here?" Clint asked, feeling confused,

"I'm sorry if we worried you guys. Everything will be fine but why don't we go inside and we'll explain everything? It'll be safer." Ezri said as Thor placed a hand on her shoulder.

Thor was the first to notice her wobbly legs and lifted her up, hearing her sigh in relief as the team stayed close behind. Ezri noticed Loki staring down at the wingless siren he lifted him, talking in a low voice to Bucky; their eyes viciously narrowed at the man.

"We'll be right in darling…" Loki assured her.

She didn't believe that for a moment.

Thor was patient with her as she bathed, something that she had missed tremendously. Despite her relationships with her lovers, she missed her best friend. Thor was able to keep her calm, bring her back down; and he was such a worrywart for her.

He saw her as a sister since the very beginning, but more so that she was able to get through to Loki. Though he was still reserved, he was glad Loki was a bit more receptive; their own parents seeing a difference.

Showing signs of going into heat soon, Thor ordered her to her room as he explained the situation, his brother walking with Bucky right behind him. The team had waited patiently, Loki leaning back against the wall as he took in the sight before him.

"So, let's not beat around the bush: where have you been? And why was trouble at our door tonight?" Tony questioned, noticing the solemn looks the brothers gave one another before Loki looked down; Thor's head held up high.

"We were at war against the sirens since I was last here. I tried to ensure Ezri not not be a part of it but the war came to our kingdom. We've been holding them at bay but it had come to a breaking point when both clans rose to us." Thor explained.

"When Ezri and I arrived," Loki spoke, not bothering to look up, "Odin asked for us to help contain them. We have turned the tide, that man out there was her sister's right-hand man. Her sister has been slain, and her husbands as well, but he was the last remaining officer."

"That explains why you were gone, Ezri had assumed correctly that was the case…" Steve said, crossing his arms.

"So why come here?" Peter asked, still not understanding.

"Ezri…was taken by another gifted siren," Thor said, feeling Bucky's death glare when he realized they failed to protect her, "she managed to kill them but that man had imprisoned her."

"I had illusioned myself to get her out of there but iwe suspected if they knew about you. Seemed that the gifted siren told him she had a clan here on Midgard due to Parker's summon." Loki explained.

"And the war? Is it over?" Bucky asked.

"It's over; her brother now reins with merely stragglers to deal with now. Ezri can rest now." Loki assured him.

"Excuse me…" Bucky whispered before standing up, leaving the room hastily.

Walking into her bedroom, Bucky nearly froze in place when he saw how thin she had become. Settling into the bed with her, she slept soundly, her throat lighting up. His eyes widened, not realizing before until now.

It had been more than a year ago that they met; and almost a year since they began their relationship but she was gone for most of it. Did she miss him? Did she still want him? As if knowing he was thinking of her, she moaned, rolling over onto her side. Snuggling into his chest, she wrapped her arm around him and he couldn't stop the smirk on his face.

"She missed you, you know."

He looked up sharply when he saw Loki approaching them.

"She had hoped you were still waiting for her, but foolish girl forced herself through so many battles. I killed every man that tried to touch her, but she never forgot you," Loki told him,

"We were hoping to come back next week after the mating season ended but then Parker summoned us. You'll have to be just a little while longer without her." Loki informed him.

"And what of you?" Bucky asked.

"I…intend to ask her to by mate," Loki answered, "if she agrees, I will be with her throughout her season."

"What? Why so soon?"

"This war made me realize that she, we, are worth fighting for. And I won't let this opportunity pass me again." Loki answered.

Bucky looked back down at Ezri, taking a thick swallow as he processed that. If she agreed, this meant that Ezri would be a married woman of sorts…and Loki would be with her, trying for a child of their own.

Placing a hand on her flat stomach, the thought of having children, swing her heavy with his own child made him smile. Still, he wasn't in a position to ask such a thing, not like Loki.

"Will you ask her as well?" Loki asked.

"I…don't know."
