Chapter 5 - Your real nightmare

"I-It was YOU…YOU killed my parents"

Those were the words that escaped your mouth as you finally let all your tears flow and released the pain you never knew you had all these years.

You grew up with your grandparents after your parents died but the trauma of the incident altered and changed it in your mind so you were never sure what was real and what was not, and your grandparents didn't want to talk about it either as they wanted to protect you from the pain of the truth.

All of this was at a loss because in the end you are now finding out in the worst possible way.

Jungkook could not believe his ears as he heard you say those words. He was so shocked, so confused. He tried to approach you slowly but seeing you move away broke his heart.

He looked at you with blurry eyes as he tried to understand the situation but it was only a matter of seconds when he realized that you were not looking up at him, more so you looked at the person that said the words that triggered your memory. "hey there sweetheart"

Jungkook then slowly turned his head and looked up to the person who had come with him.

"Appa, what's going on? What is she talking about?" Jungkook asked in shock.

"Is this why you left the other day when she fainted?" he continued to ask his father as he slowly picked you up off the floor and placed you in a chair. He then approached his father with so much hurt in his eyes not knowing who he was supposed to believe in.

Jungkook's father had a gentle smile on his face as he put one hand on his sons shoulders and said "Close the door son, and I'll explain everything."

As soon as the door was closed, Jungkook quickly made his way next to you and put his arm around your shoulder gently caressing it to calm you down. It's a wolf thing, and you were glad that just a simple touch from him can calm you down and make you feel better.

Jungkook's father sat in front of the both of you as he now pulled an envelope that he was hiding behind his back. He now looked at you with the gentlest smile on his face as he spoke out softly in his deep voice, "Thank you for giving me the chance to explain. Trust me, I am not the bad guy. Let me tell you what really happened that day. The day your parents died."

You now wiped whatever tears you had left as you let out a breath and looked at Jungkook's father so he could slowly take you back to your past. The past that was haunting you all these years. You finally leaned back against your chair and opened your ears as he started to tell you your story from 13 years ago.

~ Flashback ~ 13 years ago

~ It was around 4pm in the afternoon. Jungkook's father was doing his daily afternoon pack runs to make sure the borders were safe. It was when he reached towards the edge, he picked up sounds of screaming followed by the sound of a gunshot. He ran towards the sound and noticed that it came from a familiar looking house. His heart sank as he saw that it was his longtime friends Jiyeon's house and other than that, the house, was on fire. He quickly changed to his human form and ran to the back of the house. The screen door was open and turning the knob of the back door to see what was going on inside was the most painful thing he had to do as he saw the body of his friend and her husband on the floor in a pool of blood. There was smoke everywhere but he still wanted to check on them however, he noticed another body also on the floor, it was another woman and he wasn't sure who she was. He was so horrified at the scene as he saw folders and papers scattered everywhere, some of them even soaked in blood. He was about to walk to the bodies when all of a sudden he heard the cries of a young girl. It was then it hit him that Jiyeon had a daughter. He followed the sound until he saw a man approaching the little girls lifeless body while he had a gun in his hand. He couldn't control his anger as the wolf in him quickly took over his body and killed the man, ripping his head off. A few moments later he had no time to waste as he went to the little girl and picked her up to check if she was still breathing all the while not being able to breath himself. She was still alive and so he took her and charged out of the house hoping and praying that he was early enough to save her life atleast. It was later when he reached at the nearest hospital did he finally had the chance to take a breath as he admitted her to the emergency room. After all was sorted he said his final goodbyes to her as he stood next to her and said, "Hey there sweetheart, I'm so sorry for what happened to you. I truly am. It's best if you stay away from this life and live safely in the city. One day your time will come to get justice for your parents. When that time comes, we will meet again." He said as placed a little kiss on the little girls forehead before turning around and leaving the hospital. ~

~ present time ~

"I'm sorry for what you had to go through in your past sweetheart but I did not kill your parents. Your mother, who is the wolf in your family, was a friend of mine since high school. Your father is human and that's the reason why it took so long for your wolf to wake up. Because you didn't have the presence of a wolf around you. I apologize that I left the other day without seeing you. The reason for that is because I know that you will have many questions and I just wanted to be prepared for it and bring the necessary papers." Jungkook's father said as he finally ended the story and looked at you with the saddest and apologetic look on his face which reflected in your face as you felt sorry for blaming the man that saved your life for the death of your parents.

You were an emotional mess. Hearing the story about your mother and father just dead on the floor, the blood, the fire, just everything brought a whole load of pain you never knew you had. You were quietly sobbing as your head hung low and you tightly gripped on Jungkook's free hand with both your little ones as his hand that was on your shoulder was now rubbing your back to comfort you. The fact that you were so vulnerable at this moment meant you had no control over the mind link so Jungkook was able to feel every pain and emotion you were going through. His heart shattered into pieces as he felt a share of the pain you were going through. He slowly bent down and gave you a big hug as he held you so tightly in his arms almost as if he was trying to squeeze the pain away.

A while later his warm body and the sound of his beating heart managed to calm you down as you looked up at his father and said "Thank you, t-thank you so much for s-saving my life. I will do my best to seek justice for my parents. For you as well" you said as you sniffled and slowly formed a little smile on your lips.

Once again, this reflected on his face as he had a little smile of his own and finally handed you the evidence papers.

"These will help you get a step closer to the justice we are looking for sweetheart. Jungkook and I will be there to help you every step of the way." He said with a reassuring smile.

You smiled a little more with the support that you received. You gripped Jungkook's hand tighter as you said "Thank you umm,…" you weren't sure what to call him. You paused and asked "Can I call you abeoji?"

Jungkook's father smiled slightly and said "Ofcourse sweetheart, you are like a daughter to me and you are also Jungkook's mate so it seems right to call me that."

You then looked up at Jungkook as he gave you his bunny smile and a nod of approval as you then turned to his father and said "thank you abeoji, but I don't want any more people I care about, get hurt in front of my eyes. I think this fight is my own."

"You may not accept our help but this fight may not be your own." Jungkook's father said with a neutral expression

Your eyes slowly widen as you hear him continue to say "The day of the fire, as I carried you out, I saw somebody else. We were not alone."
