I stared out the window at the city below on my way to Beacon academy. I looked over upon hearing some younger girl getting crushed by an older girl. Probably a signal graduate. Leaning against the window, the back of my head touched the inside glass looking out. I started tinkering with my prosthetic, it had become a bit bothersome recently. Sighing, I resigned myself to just being uncomfortable for the rest of the day. We were close to Beacon anyway, I can wait for a few more minutes.
Feeling the Bullhead coming to a stop, I started gathering my stuff and walked out. Upon exiting, my eyes, which had just become accustomed to the artificial lights of the Bullhead, were blinded by the sun that assailed them. Shielding my eyes, I let them adjust. I then spotted the building. It was majestic, like a castle from a fairy tale. It was near perfect in its symmetry, the courtyard had a statue, probably symbolism of a time long passed. The many humans and faunas that have come for the initiation, all here for their own reasons. Some of which I probably wouldn't understand. Perhaps fame and glory, perhaps adventure, perhaps redemption, perhaps even idealism.
Shaking my head, I continued on towards my destination. My ears perked up to a weak, defeated voice. "Welcome to Beacon…" Looking towards the voice, I saw a tall, blonde and scraggly boy helping a small girl to her feet. Staying quiet, I walked forward, ignoring the pair and continuing on. Now, I could just say that I had reached the auditorium with no issues, but that would be a lie. As I walked, I started noticing a faint smell of Dust. Which is weird, because it would take quite a hefty amount of it to be this noticeable to faunas like me.
Looking around, I saw a few butler looking fellows were hauling around some cases and seemed normal. Well, aside from the fact that they were currently leaving an almost invisible trail of dust. I decided to engage and stop an accidental bombing. As I grew closer I cleared my throat. "Um, your dust is leaking." They looked at me and then looked at the dust and saw that it was indeed leaking. "Oh, why thank you, young man." Suddenly, a white haired girl appeared and looked slightly annoyed, "I would prefer it if you didn't impede their work. These contain a high concentration of Dust, if they are distracted and they end up dropping some, it could blow up this entire courtyard." I backed with my hands raised in mock surrender, "Okay, geez I was just informing them that Dust was leaking." The girl huffed and walked away, clearly not believing me.
Sighing, I rubbed my prosthetic, trying to get it better calibrated and less uncomfortable. Walking towards the auditorium once more. I could only frown as my arm started to delay its movement even more than before. Suddenly, I was assaulted…. by a boy pulling up beside me. I recognized him immediately even without his signature slim shadies. His high amount of luggage was also a dead giveaway. The "Cool Dude" shirt peeking out from underneath the luggage. I smiled, "Hey there." He smiled back. "Hello friend, long time no one. What have you been up to?" I deadpanned, "We saw each other just this morning, Sebas." Smirking once more, I then asked, "My arm has been acting up, do you mind taking a look at it?" He looked down at the arm. "Yes, but not right now considering I still need to take care of my luggage, plus poppin's got a spech planned for us soon. I'm sure I can come up with a temporary fix tonight, though I won't be able to do too much without a proper work space."
"Thanks, it mostly just needs to be recalibrated. It is a bit too slow for my tastes and just a split second faster would be enough to get me through initiation." I walked alongside Sebas as his luggage wobbled precariously. "I can help you with this, you know." I said, offering my help to carry his stuff. He shrugged. "Sure, yeah." He gave me half the luggage with one hand, after which he cradled the remainder with his hands again. Reaching the auditorium, I could tell that most of the other potential applicants were already here. Dropping Sebas's luggage gently, I stood in the back as I leaned against a wall awaiting the speech.
As Sebas himself casually dropped his stuff roughly next to the other luggage, he stood next to me and yawned. Ozpin walked onto the stage. Clearing his throat he spoke, "I'll keep this brief. You have traveled here in search of knowledge. You wish to acquire new skills and to hone your current ones. You plan to protect the people after graduation. But I look amongst you and see only wasted energy, in need of purpose and direction. You assume that knowledge will free you. But at this school, you will learn that knowledge can only get you so far. It's up to you to take the first step."
He walked off the stage after that as a blonde haired woman, who had this dominatrix look took over, "You will gather in the ballroom tonight. Tomorrow your initiation begins." Smiling, I glanced at Sebas. "Be ready. You are dismissed."
I silently sat at my bed working on ame's prosthetic arm. Me along with every other student were currently taking residence in the beacon ballroom where we would sleep for the night. Ame was sitting with me, staring as I did my handiwork. I stared intently at the arm, carefully rearranging and fixing the wires, chips and other devices that made the arm work. Before long I was making the finishing touches and examining it to make sure it was in tip top shape. After confirming everything was how it should be I closed it and picked it up. Now, just to test it.
"Here you are. Should have no problems making it through initiation tomorrow." I handed the arm to ame. Ame took the arm and snapped it into place, flexing the fingers before rotating the wrist and nodding, "It seems fine for now. I'll ask again once a proper work space is available." I shook my head. "It's definitely not perfect. As I've said I couldn't do as much as I wanted, but that'll change whenever we get dorms, or wherever we end up taking permanent residence in." Rubbing his neck, Ame replied, "Can't wait for that then, man this feels so much more comfortable. So, you ready for tomorrow?" I shook my head in affirmation. "Yeh." Ame smiled, "I'm going to go to sleep. Can't exactly fight at my best if I'm too tired tomorrow. So, good die." "Yeah, good die." Me and ame played down in our respective sleeping bags. Just as we did a black haired girl wearing a ribbon, who was sitting next to a few other girls who had gotten into a bit of a skirmish, blew out three candles which plunged the entire ball room into complete darkness.
Waking up was a bit of a chore, but I never was much of a morning person. Sebas was definitely out, he must've decided to stay up late again. Christ, waking him up is going to be such a pain. I lifted his head and started to slap him. His eyes shot open and looked frantically around before his eyes closed and he started snoring once more. Sighing, I abandoned him in favor of getting ready. Walking to the cafeteria, I got some breakfast pizza and saved some for Sebas. Although, the few food platters were classic breakfast items such as toast, eggs and bacon, pancakes and waffles, cereal, and one particular piece of burnt black toast that no one was touching (not even the bugs).
Finishing up my meal and grabbing a bottle of Ranch dressing, I headed into the bathroom to finish up my daily morning routine of showering, brushing my teeth, and brushing my tail. Putting my arm back on, I heard an announcement. "Would all first year students please report to Beacon Cliff for initiation. Again, all first year students report to Beacon Cliff immediately."
I rubbed my eyes and stretched my arms as I slowly awoke for the second time after ame had slapped me awake a few minutes prior. I stood up and stretched before smiling. 'Now that I'm awake I oughta clean myself up and get ready for Initiation. Though I still have plenty of time so I'll head on over to the dining area to get breakfast fir-.' "Would all first year students please report to Beacon Cliff for initiation. Again, all first year students report to Beacon Cliff immediately." "WAIT WHAT." I immediately had to scramble around hastily to gather all my stuff for Initiation.
As we stood awaiting the beginning of initiation, a sense of excitement fell over me. I could feel the tension in the air of some of the applicants. I took a deep breath, smelling some forest smells, the tupperware contained breakfast pizza, the faint smell of cat, and…. Burnt toast? As Ozpin started to open his mouth a faint yell was heard, "WAAAAAIIIIIIIIIIAAAIIAOOOOIIIITIIIIIIAAAAAAA!?" All of us turned to see Sebas charging at us at full speed. We noticed he had that one piece of toast that looked like charcoal in his hand for a moment before he tossed it in his mouth. He quickly arrived upon us and approached the last empty platform. Ozpin started to talk, "For years, you have trained to become warriors. And today, your abilities will be evaluated in the Emerald Forest." The blonde hair dominatrix woman took a step forward, "You may have been hearing rumors of the teams. Well, you will be gaining teams… today." At that moment I heard a small squeak and a small whine of displeasure.
Ozpin continued, "These teammates will be with you for the rest of your lives. So, you may want to be in a pair of which you can work well with." I looked in the direction of a small girl as she silently voiced her displeasure. "That said…. The next person you make eye contact with after landing will be your partner for the next 4 years." I felt a disturbance in the air, as if someone's world was shattered into a billion little pieces, then swiftly swept up and disposed of via an incinerator instead of recycling. The ashes, then blown away by a pair of disembodied lips. Meanwhile the not so faint sound of sebas cronching his toast could still be heard in the background. "After you partner up, make your way to the northern end of the forest. You will meet opposition on the way. Do not hesitate to kill everything that stands in your way or you will die." A slight unease was felt somewhere off to the left of me. "Our instructors won't intervene and you will be graded for the duration of initiation. You must find an abandoned temple that houses several "Relics". Each pair must pick a matching pair of relics and come back. We can then grade you appropriately on the item, and your actions during the test. Are there any questions?" I heard some blonde male try to ask something, but Sebas's crunching completely drowned it out. People started to be launched as I smiled at Sebas who had just finished chewing the toast. I gave a two finger salute to him and was subsequently launched.
As I flew, I took in my surroundings. Forests, cliffs, and what looked to be even more forest. I felt the wind blow my tail around as I felt pure excitement. My hair rustling as I got near the ground, I spun my dust slot on my prosthetic, before landing on Wind. As a small cyclone surrounded my arm, I slowed my descent as quickly as I was launched and landed gently on the ground. Looking at my surroundings once more I noticed the lack of Grimm around and relaxed a bit. I readied myself and started to run north.
I looked at Ame as he smiled and gave me the two finger salute and got flung. I turned my attention to "tall, blonde and scraggly" as he tried, and failed, to ask the professors a question, before also being launched into the forest, screaming all the while. I also realized that I and that one blonde maiden lady girl woman both were wearing slippery shades, and I didn't want to steal all the slim shady action from her, so I ripped mine off and tossed them to the side.
Just afterward I was catapulted into the air and the feeling of weightlessness set in. I stretched out my arms and legs as I did a few flips. Now this was far from the first time I had flown as I've made quite a few flying apparatuses thus far, but even after so many times the feeling of soaring through the air at high speeds could just never get old. Deciding that at this moment I wasn't content with simply remaining in the air for the few seconds before I'd hit the ground, I fired up my repolsorz and boots and propelled myself faster than before.
I soared slightly above the trees as leaves were being blown off the branches. As I flew by I could observe most of the huntsman and huntresses searching for either teammates, grimm, relics or all of the above. I flew by one particular tree with the Jaun looking fellow pinned to it by a Pyrrha's spear. A few seconds later my attention was drawn to a mid sized nevermore as it simultaneously noticed me as well. We both turned to fly towards one another, aiming to take the other out. As I got closer two blades erected from the tops of both my arms and over my hands. The nevermore opened its mouth to devour me whole and just before I entered its gullet I raised my arms in front of me pierced through the front end and out the other. As I flew away I looked back to see it plummet into the forest, partially crushing a few trees.
Shortly thereafter I noticed the old abandoned temple ozzy man instructed us to find. Deciding to investigate I decelerated before stopping at and hovering over the temple. On it I could see several chess pieces of different varieties and colors. Just then I heard a ruckus and looked to see some trees rustling and dust being kicked up in the distanxe. Thinking it might be ame, I rushed over to investigate.
I leapt over the last three of the beowolves, uppercutting one's head clean of using a lightning dust infused punch. Landing, I smirked and dodged a few swipes whilst cockily laughing. As I parried more of their attacks, I spotted a familiar silhouette on the horizon. I kicked one of them back into a tree branch, impaling it straight through and forcing it to dissolve. As the last one charged I simply put my hands in my pocket and started to walk north. As it charged, the silhouette landed straight down, blowing completely through it and making a small crater. I smirked, "It's about time. Sebas, you hungry?" He shook his head enthusiastically. "But of course. I had to rush to prepare all my stuff back there and the only food I could grab and that was available was that absolutely abysmal piece of toat." I reached into my jacket and pulled out a full stuffed crust extra large breakfast pizza. Opening the container, steam wafted out as the smell immediately hit us. The perfectly cooked and almost fresh looking pizza slices looked as dazzling as could possibly be. "I managed to save some for you in my thermal Tupperware containers. It's no home cooking, but I didn't have time to cook anything." He licked his lips with tantalizing glee. "M, I offer my sincerest thanks my good freind." I nodded, and handed the pizza to him as I heard his stomach growl. Taking out the bottle of Ranch from my jacket, I poured some in an extra small container for him to dip his pizza in. Before handing him the bottle after taking a swig from it myself.
Sebas polished off the last of the pizza slices and ranch dressing as we got done chatting about life, video games, and the inevitable discussion of whether or not pineapple belongs on pizza. Deciding it was time to move, Sebas started to lead me in the direction of the Temple. Meeting us there was the blonde girl and a black haired girl with a jumbo bow that looked suspiciously like cat ears and she smelled of my mortal enemy. As we approached, two more people came riding in on an Ursa. Looking up I saw a Nevermore. "What the- what the f-" "HEADS UUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU-oof!" a small girl was falling from the sky before "tall, blonde and scraggly" slammed into her from the sky as HE flew through the air. "No seriously wha-" suddenly Pyrrha ran as an ancient Death Stalker was chasing after her. My eyes widened, "WHERE DID YOU EVEN FIND THAT?!" I looked up and… "There's no way. ARE YOU SERIOUSLY HANGING ON TO THE TALON OF A FUCKING NEVERMORE!?" Looking around I could only try to reinforce my normal chaos tolerance from Sebas's special brand. Sighing, I took a deep breath. Suddenly, a boy and girl's voice rang out, "WHAT THE FUCK'S GOING ON!"
My head swirled off to the side as a girl and boy walked from the woods absolutely gobsmacked. "Oh, hi there. My name is Ame Wolf Sky. What's your name?" Composing themselves, the boy took the lead. "I'm Talon Crimson." The girl followed, "and I'm Melody Volet." I shrugged, before walking and picking up two white pawn pieces, throwing one of them to Sebas. "Alright, our work here is done. Wanna get some more food to eat? I know this good place that's opening up, I think it was called, "Mr. Popo's Eatery". I heard their spaghetti tacos were t-" Suddenly a sudden force slammed into us as I coughed up some saliva at the sudden force. Flying through the air I slammed into a stone bridge, sliding along before falling off the edge falling deeper into a ravine hitting a bridge lower than that. Looking up I saw a large black figure landing near me. I could see Sebas dangling from a vine overlooking the bridge I was on. Stumbling to my feet, I raised my fists as I got a good look at it. I recognized the grimm in front of me as a Gowser. A large bipedal Grimm with a spiked shell, a strong spikey tail, could breathe fire, and generally looked like a turtle had a baby with a dragon. It raised its own fists whilst the spikes on its shell erected out. I smirked and charged at it. It let out a roar as it rushed me.
