Trust me. It is consistent. The reasons and what is happening behind the scenes will be revealed soon.
And about the other side of Naruto it is not the same as his darkness. It is similar(emphasis on similar) to DID. It's a split personality. A part of him that was dormant and took all the trauma that he couldn't handle. He is also suffering from PTSD and flashbacks. While he has seen death and killed others himself, it still can be triggering for him. It is also easy to fight and kill in a war where your options are to kill or be killed. It doesn't mean that he will be ok with it when it can be avoided.
To Guest
There are a lot of events going on in the background. There is a lot going on in the story, and it is still in the building phase, not the action phase.
Nauto was headed to the orphanage. After finishing the sealing class, answering many questions, and then spending a little extra time with rookie 9 when they noticed they were all friends with Naruto, it was finally time to say goodbye.
Most of their parents were waiting for them, so they made Naruto promise to visit them more often. Now it was time for Naruto to do his routine visit to the orphanage. He needed to deliver a few things and spend time with the children.
As soon as he got to the orphanage, kids rushed to him, pulling him into a group hug. It was so comforting to know he was making an impact on their lives. He quickly made a few clones to help around and went to the matron.
The matron gave him the usual updates and thanked him for the items he had brought. A little project Naruto was doing was making a safe playground for the kids. So far, he had a clear area with a sandbox, a few swings and slides, and a seesaw. He was planning on building a miniature obstacle course.
He finished the design a few weeks ago. His clones were unsealing the materials, and some older kids were gathered to help. Naruto used a Tasuki to tie his kimono sleeves up and got to work.
It was just after noon, and the sun was high in the sky. The kids were inside having lunch, but Naruto decided to stay out and work. He was sawing the woods for the next part of the obstacle. Even with the help of his clones and children, he was still building the skeleton.
He wouldn't finish the skeleton today, but he wanted to ensure it was stable enough not to fall on children until his next visit. He was deep in thought and almost got a jump scare when someone said his name.
"Naruto! You are supposed to be resting, not working yourself to the ground under the sun." Shisui yelled at him.
Naruto turned towards him with a guilty look on his face. Near the entrance of the playground were Shisui, Raido, and Genma. They looked as if they just came back from a mission. Naruto took a look at them. Since they were all in their jonin outfits, it couldn't be an ANBU mission.
They weren't visibly injured as well, so it was probably a B-rank mission. Sometimes the Hokage would give ANBU some easy B ranks as jonins as downtime for them. It helped with regaining strength and their mental state quite well.
Constantly being on A or S ranks back to back often took a toll on the ANBU. In those missions, they always had to be alert and in life-or-death situations. It would leave them paranoid and jumpy. So a mandatory downtime where they could only take C or B ranks with other jonin or chunin could help them relax.
Naruto put the saw down and walked towards them. "Good afternoon, Genma-san, Raido-san, Shisui-nii. Are you coming back from a mission?" Naruto asked with a polite bow.
Genma opened his mouth to answer, but Shisui beat him to it. He shunshined behind Naruto and grabbed him in a headlock, giving him a noogie. "Don't try to get away from the subject, brat. The doctors said you should rest, so what are you doing here?" Shisui said.
"I'm sorry, Shisui-nii, I promised to visit the orphanage, and I can't leave the project now. The skeleton is unstable. It might fall down and hurt someone." Naruto said, trying to get away half-heartedly.
"Fine, you sneaky brat. But you aren't lifting a finger. I will help you make it." Shisui said, finally letting go of Naruto.
Naruto was trying to fix his hair when he heard the other two jonins chuckle. "You guys are just so funny. I didn't even know this place had a playground. Do you two want some extra help? We got some time." Genma offered.
"Yeah, now that you mention it, I don't remember a playground either," Raido said.
"Well, there was no playground until a while ago. I made it when I first started visiting the orphanage. The place was so miserable. The building was falling apart, and everything was a mess. It took me a long time, but I used my shadow clones to help me get this place in shape." Naruto said with pride.
Shisui grabbed him into a hug lifting him in the air. Naruto hated how he was so much shorter than the older boy, but he couldn't deny loving the hugs. "I'm so proud of you, otouto," Shisui said as he hugged him tighter.
"Let me down." Naruto cried.
"He is right, Naruto-kun. Not many people spend so much effort helping others." Genma said with a smile.
"Thank you. To me, they are an important part of the village. They are the next generation and the future of the village. If we help give them an opportunity, there are so many things they could do. They can become shinobis or stay civilians. No matter what they do, they are the future of the Konoha and a special part of it, so I would do what I can to help them choose the path they want." Naruto said with a blush.
"Well, I think it is time we give you a little hand then. Where should we start?" Raido said.
Naruto was a bit hesitant to ask them for help since they had just got back from a mission. But they assured him it was a simple delivery mission, and they were well rested.
They spent the rest of the afternoon working. They managed to go a lot further than Naruto expected. Finally, they decided to finish for the day, and Naruto invited them for dinner as a thank you.
They went to the Yakiniku Q for food and spent time together. Naruto had a great time, and finally, it was time to say goodbye. Naruto took a short stroll with Shisui. They were near a park when Shisui stopped walking and turned Naruto towards him to look at each other.
"Hey, Naruto. What you are doing for the orphanage is so amazing. Not only that, I heard about the changes you made to the academy. Everyone is talking about it. It's an impossible task to make the jonin commander impressed, but he was so proud. He kept talking about it. Hell, I also know you convinced Tsunade-hime to return to the village."
"Sometimes I forget how young you are. You are just a kid, but you've already made a big impact on the whole village. What I want to say is I'm grateful to you. And I want to say thank you for everything you've done. For the village, for me, and my father." Shisui kneeled to be at eye level with Naruto and put his hand on Naruto's shoulder.
"Kagami-san?" Naruto asked.
"Yeah, don't even deny it. He told me about your visit when I was on a mission. He was so excited. It was the first time I saw the spark in my father's eyes after his days as a shinobi. It was as if he had found a piece of himself again. When he returned from his first session in the academy, he was talking about it non-stop."
"He kept talking about different children and how amazing it was to teach. He was even training in the backyard to polish his skills." Shisui said with a chuckle.
"I haven't done anything. He really was the best option. It was his own skills and…" Naruto quickly started.
Shisui put a finger on Naruto's mouth to stop him. "Stop being so humble, and let me thank you. Do you think I don't know how you and Itachi always try to support me? So just this once, let me spoil you a little." Shisui said and pulled Naruto into a hug.
Naruto felt so warm and protected. He brought his hands around Shisui to return the embrace. He laid his head on Shisui's warm chest and listened to his heartbeat. "I am thankful to you too. Both you and Itachi. You guys gave me a family, and it's something I will always be thankful for." Naruto said, voice shaky from holding back his tears.
Shisui pulled him closer, and they stayed like that for a while, just seeking comfort from each other.
It was the day of Tsunade's arrival. The whole village was in a rush. There was an entire celebration in honor of her return, but first, there would be a council meeting. Since Tsunade was returning as a clan head, there would only be clan representatives and the elder's council.
The celebration would start in the evening when there would be a festival, fireworks, and many other events. Each clan was going to have a representative performing in a great show. It was mainly for the civilians but also a chance for the clans to show some of their skills.
It didn't have to be shinobi-related skills since it was mostly for show since even the daimyo was in Konoha for a visit. Naruto was going to act as the Uzumaki clan head since Senju and Uzumaki were sister clans. Even Jiraiya returned to the village a few days ago.
It's been years since the three sannin were in the village simultaneously. Naruto visited Orochimaru the previous day, and even he was excited about the whole event. In this lifetime, he didn't have a lot of opportunities to spend time with his former teammates, even Jiraiya, since he didn't visit the village since the Kyubi incident.
When Jiraiya returned a few days ago, Naruto was the first to notice his chakra even before he entered the village gates. He sent a clone to inform Orochimaru, who didn't go to greet his teammate since he had an image to keep. Still, Naruto could see a satisfied expression on his face.
Naruto was told that he had an appointment with all the sannin the next day to check his seal and physical development as the Jinchuuriki.
But this was all about tomorrow. For now, he was getting ready for the council meeting. He was wearing a traditional Uzi kimono for the event. It was multi-layered, with colors representing the sea. Blue, gold, teal, and other colors. He had his hair up in a spiky ponytail. And there were beads woven into braids in his hair.
He also had ornaments such as beads and bells hanging from his clothing. The height of skill for an Uzu shinobi was to move in a fashion that no bells made a sound. It took a long time for Naruto to learn the skill, but he was so proud when he finally managed.
He sealed the tools he needed for tonight's event in the seal on his wrist and went to Danzo to go for the meeting. They arrived early and greeted other clan heads who were present, and Naruto stayed next to Danzo as he engaged in a talk with other elders.
Naruto could feel Tsunade at the front gate getting greeted by shinobi and civilians. He informed Danzo so that everyone would take a seat at the table waiting. Naruto was sitting near the head of the table next to Fugaku.
The clan heads were sitting in the order they joined the village, and since technically Uzumaki and Senju joined at the same time, but the Uzumaki weren't exactly a part of the village, so his seat was after the Uchiha but before other clans.
The councilors were sitting at the end of the table along with the other two sannin who were there for formality. The Hokage entered soon after. They only had to wait a minute before the ANBU announced Tsunade's arrival. She entered the room with her head held high, and after giving a short nod of acknowledgment to everyone present, she took her seat.
After a moment of silence, the Hokage started. "Today we have all gathered to…."
It was a long and formal meeting. They were giving Tsunade an update about everything in the village and discussing her role in the village's future. Tsunade clarified that she wouldn't take the Hokage seat and was only here for the medical program.
So they told her about the changes they have made so far and also the academy program. There were a lot of changes to be made, but she was given autonomy to make the changes, and she was to report them to the Hokage.
Tsunade also told the council that the only reason that convinced her to return was Naruto. Of course, she wanted to throw Naruto in the middle of the wolves as revenge after an elaborate story of how a small boy with a heart of gold changed her heart and how she was here to protect her innocent and powerless relative.
Naruto was blushing madly, trying not to react under pressure and keeping his gaze fixed on the table. The worst part was how the clan heads caught up, and all decided to talk about all the deeds Naruto had done for the village and how he was an angel sent from Kami.
Naruto could swear that he heard a lot of clan heads chuckling during the story, and he was getting subtle glares from Danzo as a warning not to say anything. At one point, he even heard a slight noise from Fugaku right next to him. It was so small it could pass as a cough, but Naruto was sure of what he heard.
Finally, his torment came to an end, and Naruto, in a fit of childish behavior, shunshined behind Danzo to hide. Danzo decided to show mercy since he was also praised for training Naruto and, with quick goodbyes, left the meeting to prepare for the night's celebrations.
The celebrations were terrific. Everyone was eating and drinking and overall having a good time. Of course, the poor ANBU were on duty as always to ensure the village's safety, but even their shifts were in a manner to allow them some time in the festivities.
When it was time for the show, everyone went to the stadium usually used for chunin exams. All the clans were called one by one to perform. Hokage, daimyo, and the sannin were in a special booth prepared while the clan heads and the elder council were sitting in another booth.
The clans started performing one by one. The Yamanaka performed a psychic show with the help of volunteers from the audience. The Akimichi performed a cooking show with lots of tricks. The Nara used their shadow possession to make volunteers mimic their moves.
The Inuzuka and Aburame performed tricks with their ninken and kikaichu. The Hyuga used a blindfold and, using byakugan, would locate the volunteers and describe what they were doing. The Uchiha performed a great show with lots of fire, and now it was time for Naruto.
He entered the field. The announcer introduced him to the crowd, and Naruto bowed before the audience before starting. He made four shadow clones. With a quick nod, one of the clones went to the side, where he unsealed a koto and got ready for performance.
The other clones and Naruto went into position. With a deep breath, they started. It was a traditional dance of Uzushio. It was performed by four people dancing with fans accompanied by Koto. It included a lot of twists and turns mimicking the sea and whirlpools surrounding the island. The fans would make small gusts of wind for their robes to flow and twirl.
He was also using complex water manipulation to control water in the form of waves around him. He spent a lot of time learning suiton. It was an element that made him feel close to his mother and Uzushio.
He controlled the water in the air, making it go around him and the clones faster and faster until it took the shape of a water dragon and went towards the sky and exploded into fireworks, be a seal Naruto put in the dragon discreetly.
There was a moment of silence, but then everyone cheered, and Naruto dispersed his clones and bowed once more before leaving the stadium. Shisui and Itachi were waiting for him, pulling him into a group hug.
"What are you guys doing here? Shouldn't you be with the rest of the clan?" Naruto asked.
"Don't worry, we informed Ka-san, and she gave us permission for a few minutes," Itachi said.
"That was so cool, Naruto. Where did you even learn that?" Shisui asked.
"I found it on a scroll we brought from Uzushio. There was a lot of information about the Uzu culture and traditions. It took me a long time, and I just got it down recently. It needs four people. Two are in charge of wind manipulation, and two are in charge of water." Naruto said excitedly.
"It is really impressive. Maybe you can teach us a few tricks sometime." Itachi said.
"Sure. But now I must go before the others wander where I am." Naruto waved and left in shunshin to the booth. There were a few compliments, and Naruto thanked them politely.
Finally, after some more shows and a talk from the Hokage, it was time for everyone to go and enjoy time with their families. Danzo and Naruto went to a particular restaurant to entertain the daimyo with select others.
