"I'm sorry, I'm sorry! I'm jus' so damn sorry!" Bo wailed, flailing about in his bed.
Luke turned on the lights and sat on the side of Bo's bed, grabbing him and trying to settle him down.
"You're alright, it's okay." Luke whispered.
"No it ain't! I killed you..." Bo panted.
"You didn't kill me, Bo, I'm right here." Luke hugged him.
"That's 'cause I jus' killed myself..." Bo wheezed.
"No you didn't you're safe." Luke held him closer.
"Luke, I'm so sorry, I never meant to do it..." Bo panted, leaning into Luke's embrace.
"Bo, you didn't do anything, you're jus-"
"I can understand if ya can't forgive me." Bo interrupted.
"There ain't nothin to forgive you of." Luke rubbed circles on Bo's back.
"Killing you ain't nothin' to be sorry fer?"
"You didn't kill me." Luke continued to try to convince him.
Jesse had heard the commotion and came into the room.
"Is he okay?" Jesse approached the bed.
"He thinks he's killed me and that he's killed himself." Luke whispered to Jesse.
"Bo, son?" Jesse touched the side of his head, as his face was buried in Luke's shoulder.
"You, too, uncle Jesse?" Bo's voice cracked and a few more tears fell.
"Me too, what?" Jesse asked.
"You died, too?"
"No, Bo, none of us died."
"Don't you remember? Luke died an' then I... I killed myself, remember?" Bo shuddered.
"None of them things happened, Bo." Jesse assured him.
"What do you mean, I was there, I saw it all..." Bo moaned.
"Bo, look at me, cousin." Luke released his grip from him and turned his face towards him. "No one's died. We're all safe here, just like we always was. The only thing is, you've got a hell of a fever."
"No one d-died?"
"No one died." Luke pulled him against his chest.
"I'm scared..." Bo shuddered.
"You're okay, you're safe." Luke promised.
Bo buried his face deeper into his older cousin's chest.
"I'm right here, I ain't goin' anywheres." Luke assured him.
Jesse reached over to the side table and grabbed the thermometer, handing it to Luke.
"Bo?" Luke started.
"Yeah?" Bo mumbled.
"I need to take your temperature, can ya let me?"
Bo turned his head and opened his mouth.
"Thanks." Luke stuck the thermometer in his mouth. "Jus' hold still now."
After a few minutes, Luke pulled the thermometer from Bo's mouth and took a glance before he handed it to Jesse: 104.8
"Luke..." Bo rolled his head to the side and opened his eyes.
"I'm here." Luke picked Bo's head up and eased it back against his chest, where he knew Bo'd feel safe, and he was right: Bo wrapped his arms around Luke's back and exhaled loudly.
"I'll get some things." Jesse whispered and got up.
"It was awful, Luke..." Bo whispered.
"It's over now, you're safe at home, it was only a dream." Luke comforted.
"It felt real..." Bo mumbled.
"It weren't."
Jesse returned with a bowl of cold water and some towels, and Luke gently laid Bo down on the bed, pulling away all the blankets.
"Luke, uncle Jesse?" Bo tried to sit up again, but his exhaustion combined with Luke's gentle hands on his shoulders prevented it.
"We're right here." Luke replied, as if keeping his hands on Bo's shoulders wasn't enough to remind him.
Jesse wrung out a towel and started dabbing Bo's face, causing him to jerk his head to the opposite side.
"Let me see ya Bo." Jesse coaxed, and turned his head back towards him.
"It's cold..." Bo complained.
"I know, but it'll make ya feel better real soon." Jesse promised, resuming the dabbing.
After Bo was somewhat adjusted to the coldness, Jesse started draping the wet towels on his chest, wrists, and face. Bo shivered and flinched, but he couldn't do much else to protest, as he was completely exhausted.
After a while, Bo's fever started to come down a little, and he started to become more aware of everything.
"Who alls here?" Bo whispered.
"Me an' uncle Jesse." Luke took his hand.
"Am I alright?" Bo mumbled.
"I don't know, are you?" Luke asked.
"I think so." Bo opened his eyes. "What happened?"
"Your fever got real bad and ya had a heck of a night mare." Luke exhaled.
"I hit ya, huh?" Bo guessed.
"No, no." Luke shook his head.
"Don't call the doc, huh?" Bo mumbled.
"Yeah, I don't reckon we'll need to." Jesse sighed.
"You'd better get back to sleep now, Bo." Luke started peeling the towels off of him.
Jesse grabbed his blankets off the floor and tucked him in again.
"Good night, boys." Jesse shut the door.
"You gonna be okay, Bo?" Luke asked as he turned off the lights.
"Yeah..." Bo mumbled from under all of his blankets.
"Once you're asleep I'm gonna take some o' them blankets off so ya don't get too got again." Luke warned, but Bo was already asleep.
Luke waited a minute or so, then he stood up and pulled off two blankets from Bo.
About two hours later, Jesse peeked in to make sure that everything was still alright, and it wasn't, his uncle-ly intuition had been correct: Bo was leaning over the side of the bed, attempting to resist throwing up.
Luke had been up taking care of Bo while he was sick the past few nights and was completely exhausted so, this little amount of noise didn't wake him up.
Jesse eased Bo back into the bed. "You gonna throw up?"
"Yeah..." Bo coughed.
"Alright, hang on, I'll go get a pot." Jesse rushed to the kitchen and back, placing the pot on the floor next to the bed.
Bo had just managed to wait until Jesse returned and immediately started heaving into the pot.
"Easy, Bo, calm down." Jesse rubbed his back.
Bo continued for quite a while until nothing was left to come out of him, and he leaned back onto the bed.
"You okay?" Jesse asked as he wiped his mouth.
"Not really..." Bo replied, and it was evident in his shortness of breath.
Jesse pulled an inhaler from the drawer and helped Bo with it. As this was happening, Luke woke up and turned on the lights, getting out of bed when he saw the situation at hand.
"He's alright, Luke." Jesse set the inhaler aside, as Bo was done with it.
Bo laid back down and burrowed into his beddings. Jesse wrapped his arm around Bo's blanketed shoulders and kissed the side of his head, before turning out the lights and pointing at Luke's bed, silently telling Luke that Bo was just fine, and ordering him to get back to bed.
