The first time Alice sees him it's in a vision when she wakes up.
He is her first vision.
He gives her her name.
Alice.
He sits across from her at a diner, it's pouring outside and he's possibly the most beautiful man she's ever seen, she has no memories, but she knows this for a fact, with those alluring onyx eyes and the unnatural golden waves, even the scars on his face give him an hypnotizing air.
She's holding his hand into her own, stroking his open palm in an absent "reading the palm" manner.
His voice is enticing, smooth, deep, with a slight southern drawl to it.
And when he asks what would they do, she kisses him, right before the waitress dropped a plate and her hand began bleeding.
She gets visions of him while he's in the South, she learns what vampires are through him, how to fight, how to use her natural charms to manipulate humans into giving her things without much of a fuss.
But she never sees past their meeting at the diner.
A meeting that never happens.
Because in 1940, a week right before Peter went for him, the Volturi make their apparition.
And he joins them.
The vision of them meeting at that diner in Philadelphia shatters like a thousand pieces of multicolored glass, and it leaves her feeling like someone has punched a hole through her chest.
She wants to go find him, even entertains the idea of joining the Volturi, but she doesn't.
As much as she craves to find him, to be close to him, she also knows that if she looks for him it won't be the same, as much as it hurts she must let fate decide whether their paths cross again or not.
And so she goes looking for the Cullens.
But she never stops watching.
~
The first time Alice sees him in the flesh it's when she goes to Volterra to save Edward's stupid ass, it didn't even cross her mind that she might encounter him there, she always carried him in her heart, had done so for a long time.
But she never expected to see him in the flesh, and it takes her whole strength to keep herself from staring at him let alone looking in his direction, or even hiding her thoughts.
She's never told the Cullens about him, afraid that if she does, the illusion might break and he might never end up in her path, making it all the worse if people were to know.
But Alice was positive it was him, Jasper was her missing piece.
She just had to be patient.
Had to wait for the right time.
He's standing right behind the thrones, and a part of her irks at how even worse it looks for him to be wearing a muzzle in person. Like some kind of animal.
As she leaves with Edward and Bella she lingers back to glance at each one of the Volturi, a perfect excuse to look at him, their gazes meet for a fraction of a second and she has to resist the urge to smile at him, instead focusing on what she wants him to feel, light, she knows this place is taking a tool on him.
Both physically and emotionally, and she hates seeing him suffer, but she also knows she can't do anything, she's not strong enough to save him, he's the only one who can choose whether to stay or leave this place, he just needs the right motivation to want to leave.
All she can do for now is send as many positive emotions as she can, she bites back a smile when she sees his shoulders relax.
One day, he wouldn't have to suffer anymore, he wouldn't have to feel so alone.
He just needed to realize it first.
That he didn't need this place.
And she's just glad Edward is distracted enough with Bella to not question the reason of her lingering back there a bit too long.
~
The second time she sees him in the flesh it's after the fight with Victoria's newborns, there had been no casualties, she was just glad she had managed to teach the Cullens and wolves how to fight newborns.
She had used the same method and same words she had heard and seen Jasper use against the newborns he had trained for María and even a few moves she had seen him teach the Volturi's guards.
It had been complicated to explain to the Cullens the how she held such knowledge, her safest bet had been to tell them about the fact that she knew two vampires from the South; Peter and Charlotte.
Which wasn't a lie.
She did know Peter and Charlotte.
She hadn't been able to not approach them when she had seen Peter's devastation over thinking Jasper to be dead.
So she had reached out to them and told them the truth.
Jasper was with the Volturi.
Of course at first neither had believed her nor even trusted her, she had told them about her gift, and when Peter had demanded to know the reason for her to care at all about what happened with Jasper…
She had told him the truth.
When she woke up as a vampire her first vision was of her meeting him in a diner, she grew to care about him, even if she might never meet him she couldn't bear to see those he had cared about suffer.
She didn't tell Peter the whole truth, but she didn't need to, somehow, she had the feeling he had known the true extent of her feelings for Jasper.
She kept in touch with them through letters, though they never visited.
Peter hadn't tried to go to Volterra as she had expected, she had the inking feeling it was because he was mad at Jasper for making such stupid move as that of joining the Volturi instead of running when he had the chance.
Still.
The Cullens and the pack survive because of what she had learnt from Jasper.
She makes a point to not look at him, but even then she can feel his stare burrowing into her, a bit distracting when she is fighting to keep a serious stance, she's anxious over a lot of things right now, she doesn't need his stare adding to the mix.
But then she feels it.
A little thread that tugs at the knot in her chest, lessening the pressure and making her shoulders relax, she wouldn't have thought a thing of it had she not known his gift, and against her better judgement her attention falls on him.
Her eyes soften as their gazes meet, and she can't help the burst of affection that escapes her clutches, because God, catching his attention enough to get him to attempt to calm her nerves instead of intensifying them isn't something she ever saw coming.
And she feels sadness pool in, for him, for this whole mess, for the fact that she might never be able to have him.
When Jane brings Bree down with her gift Alice feels her muscles lock, anger coursing through her veins at the brat's actions, she didn't need to hurt her, as Esme said, she would tell her anything she wanted to know.
But Alice had seen enough of Jasper in Volterra to know that that girl didn't care about a thing but hurting others.
Her angers grows as she noticed that Jasper has shut his eyes, and she doesn't need to see his whole face to know he's in the same amount of pain Bree is, how could Jane do that? Weren't they suppose to be allies?
But again, Alice knew that girl held no regard whatsoever for no one but her brother and Aro.
She focuses on all the comfort she can muster, calm, because it breaks her heart to see him in pain right infront of her and not be able to do a thing to help him.
So she tries to comfort him.
He relaxes a bit before his attention falls on the newborn, he looks troubled and she has the feeling she knows what has him looking so troubled.
She knew him enough to be able to tell he didn't understand what would lead people to spare enemies or show mercy to someone who had tried to kill you.
-Jor.- Alice's bites back a grimace at the name Jane uses on him.
It's not his name, not even The Major's.
It's a nickname given to hide the Volturi's own transgressions while also stealing more bits of his perception of himself.
The worst is that as he takes a step forward she knows what Jane wants him to do.
-She didn't know what she was doing.- Esme's voice begs for understanding, for Bree to be spared, she's an innocent caught in the crossfire of a war, she doesn't deserve to die.
And Alice knows she's also doing it because part of her sees in Bree the chance to have the child she's always wanted.
Alice knows Esme loves them all as her children.
But none of them are children anymore, not really, they are all between teenagers to young adults.
Bree is roughly 13 years old.
Still a child.
-We'll take responsibility for her.- Esme tries, and Alice feels bad, because she knows this won't work.
Jane's face tells her she isn't in the slightest touched with Esme's pleas.
-Give her a chance.
This time it's Carlisle the one who speaks.
But Alice knows, it's no use, Jane won't let Bree live.
And she leaves it clear with her next words.
-The Volturi don't give second chances. Keep that in mind, Caius will be interested to know she's still human.- Alice bites back the urge to snap at the little brat, at the hypocrisy in her words.
-The date is set.- Bella tells as a statement of fact and Alice can see the annoyance in Jane's eyes, she definitely doesn't like Bella.
Alice thinks it's just her wounded pride over her gift not being able to work on a human.
And then the little Volturi speaks words that make Alice's dead heart drop.
-Take care of that Jor, I'd like to go home.- Jane's order is absolute, and still.
Jasper doesn't move.
He stands there staring at Bree, she can tell he doesn't want to follow the order, she knows Jane shouldn't be ordering him that, it was the one condition he put to join the Volturi.
But none of the Volturi seem to care despite knowing this, though Alec does look a bit troubled, an expression that lasts nothing but a fleeting second before he regains his neutral look.
Alice isn't an empath and she can still feel the rising confusion from the Cullens, understandable, Volturi didn't hesitate, those who were given orders would follow them without a second thought.
But none of them knew Jasper like she did.
And she wants to scream at Jane. She wants to grab Jasper and run. Because no, he shouldn't have to do this, he didn't want to do this, why is no one stepping in?
But even if she wonders that, she knows.
That aside from the twins all the Volturi are on their own, no one to watch their backs, no one to step up for them, it's sad when one thought about it.
And her heart breaks for him.
He shouldn't have to put up with this, how much longer would he force himself to put up with this madness? How much longer would he let himself be forced to do things he didn't want to do? How long before he realized Volterra wasn't a home but another prison much more worse than María's? They were slowly tearing his sanity apart and he couldn't even see it.
-Jor, today.- Jane's voice is neutral, but Alice can hear the warning in there, she did not like having to repeat herself.
And Jasper moves.
His pace is slow and while he might look serious to the general watcher, to her, he looks miserable, he walks so close to her she has to put her hands in her pockets to keep herself from reaching out to him, stop him.
Because he shouldn't be doing this, her rage at what he is being forced to do threatens to melt the flesh off her bones, it burns at the pit of her stomach.
But she tries to not let that reign her, instead, focusing on the comfort she wants him to feel, it's alright, it's alright, is all she wants to whisper, but she doesn't.
No one knows how much it's hurting him to do this, same as she knows no one will ever realize he could have yanked Bree up twice as violent as he's done in the past to those newborns in the past.
She knows he's gone when his posture goes from ramrod straight to completely relaxed.
The Major.
But even The Major has learnt to fall in line with Jasper's wishes, somewhat, he knows children are a particularly sensitive issue, and so he gives Bree a quick and swift death.
One moment he's holding her shivering form and next thing Alice knows Bree's head is dropping on the ground with a missing half to ensure her brain is damaged enough for her to not process the world around her and by extension her death, there's no screaming, no time for Bree to react at all, the snap is so clean no sound comes from the shattering ceramic aside from a slight crack.
And Alice feels her stomach twist at the hatred and resentment Rosalie, Edward and Emmett are staring at Jasper with, the pain in Esme's gaze, Carlisle's frustration, Bella's shock.
This wasn't suppose to be their first impression of him.
Bree's body drops on the ground, lifeless.
-Great, now that that's taken care of.- Jane's voice got her a piercing glare from The Major, and the air suddenly felt extremely heavy, like a hollow hole opening at the pit of her stomach as her hairs stood on end.
Right.
He did hate Jane, and unlike Jasper, he had no qualms about showing it.
-Caius will be waiting for a report.- This time Alec is the one who speaks, his voice barely above a whisper, but that's enough to snuff out the dense atmosphere in the air like a whiplash.
Because while Jane can manipulate Jasper, Alec can manipulate The Major.
Still.
Alice watches The Major narrow his eyes at the boy for a moment before turning around and walking back to the Volturi, this time, he walks right past her, so close the bottom of his cloak touches her ankle as it weaves through the air in his stride.
And she knows that if she reaches out she can touch him.
She digs her hands deeper into her pockets.
And Alice hates how when they go back home she has to stand back and hear Rosalie throw insults at "Jor", calling him names over the muzzle, the dark aura surrounding him, his creepiness that seems to compete against the twins', the unnecessary cruel death of Bree.
She ends up leaving for a hunt for the rest of the evening.
She claims she wants to be alone.
But she ends up spending hours crying, crying for the impotence she felt, the frustration, the anger, knowing she can't help Jasper, that he's suffering, having to hear Rosalie's words against him.
She knows she can't blame her for having such thoughts, but God, it burns when the one her family is speaking ill of is the one person she loves the most.
It's not his fault, he doesn't know he has another choice.
And so, she sheds the tears she knows he will never shed.
He has to be strong.
But she doesn't.
So she breaks down for him.
~
The third time Alice sees him in the flesh it's during the near fight between the Volturi and the Cullens.
He hangs back as she shows Aro a short film of lies and deception, at least 80% of it are lies, had the man been less trustworthy about her gift he would have seen the flaws.
Esme struggling to push herself up.
The wolves and Renesmee appearing in her vision.
Jane getting the jump on Jasper without Alec's help.
Edward and Bella getting the jump on Aro.
He would have known several things didn't fit, but Alice learnt a long time ago to warp her thoughts and create such realistic scenarios in her head it could pass as actual visions.
That as long as she used an actual vision as a base.
Too much free time in her hands, and also preparing herself in case she ever had to let Aro into her head.
He could never know that she's been watching Volterra for a long, long time, could never know the kind of relationship that could bloom between her and his third most prized "possession" were there to be a chance for them to interact. They were fated mates.
Which meant it didn't matter what Aro did, one way or another, their paths would cross, and it would have only two possible outcomes.
She either joined the Volturi.
Or she took him from Aro.
Aro would not like the latter.
She hadn't meant for Aro to know about the tidbit of Jasper getting killed by the Volturi, but she had seriously had no way of warping his death out of the way, all she could do was switch Alec for Jane.
Because Alec was the only one able to take Jasper.
But Aro wasn't suppose to know Jasper might have turned against them during the battle in the first place, at least she had managed to erase the dozens of Volturi he killed before Alec managed to use his gift on him, successfully shutting him out of the world and by extension leaving him vulnerable.
She still couldn't understand what would have led him to turn against the Volturi, to help them, and while she wished he would do so now, she was glad the fight didn't happen.
Even if that meant she didn't got to have him leaving the Volturi.
When would the time be right?
And as the Volturi disappear he lingers back.
Their gazes meet and she finds herself sending positive emotions to him, his shoulders relax and for a moment he looks so… alone.
Lost.
Sad.
She wants to wrap her arms around him and assure him it's all gonna be alright. She doesn't know for how much longer can she keep this up, of just looking at him and letting him go back to that hell.
Suddenly, Emmett comes to stand infront of her, glaring at Jasper, Alice bites back the urge to pull him away, biting back also the words that threaten to spill out, he's not a threat, he's not dangerous, stop glaring at him, stop hurting him with your anger, you would like him.
Jasper takes a step back, and Alice's dead heart squeezes at the absolute emptiness in his gaze.
God, why? Why hadn't she gone for him when he was still in the South? Why let him come across the Volturi?
Now she couldn't help him as long as he didn't want to be helped. If she so much as tried to reach out to him in Volterra that would not go well, not for the Cullens, not for her, and certainly not for him.
And not for the first time she feels an overwhelming sense of impotence as she watches him disappear.
~
Alice sits at the roof of the house, watching Eleazar bid his goodbyes to Carlisle, they are the last remaining ones. She doesn't pay much mind to their conversation.
Until Eleazar speaks words that capture her entire attention.
-That Volturi with the muzzle, you should be careful if he ever shows up again.- Eleazar states, Alice feels her stomach twist at it.
-Why?
-Because he's an empath.
~
Because he's an empath.
Eleazar's words make Carlisle still.
-You sure about this?- He doesn't doubt Eleazar's gift, but he needs to ask, make sure that what he just heard is true.
An empath? How was that possible? Carlisle has never heard of such a thing as that of an empath surviving past the newborn stage, not even for a month. The emotions around them driving them insane.
But that man hadn't seemed to be insane, in fact, both times Carlisle has seen him he's looked rather calm, quiet, and he's wearing that muzzle, he wonders if that is related to his gift or something else.
-Yes, and for what I could tell, he might not be the general "feel through touch" empath. I doubt the Volturi would bother with someone with that kind of problematic gift if there wasn't more to him than meets the eye in the first place. So, like I said, you should be careful with him, you never know what an empath might be able to gather through people's emotions.
Carlisle nods at Eleazar's warning before the man is retreating.
Carlisle hears a huff and he turns towards the noise in time to catch sight of Alice's scowl before this one is jumping off the roof of the house and onto the balcony, disappearing inside.
He frowned at her, while he wants to brush it as her being stressed over what had happened earlier he has the feeling that that's not the case.
Even before this whole mess Alice has never seem to react well to the mention of the Volturi, she had even come back from Volterra in such a mood, had locked herself in her room for over a week.
Edward hadn't been able to tell much aside from the fact that she was pissed and sad, for what? He had no idea.
That mood had been twice as worse after the encounter with the Volturi after the fight with Victoria's army, Bree's death… she had left the house and hadn't come back until two days later, she had looked worse for wear.
It didn't sit right with him.
Much less when he remembers the muzzled Volturi, Carlisle has seen his eyes when he walked past him to kill Bree, unusually black, empty, unnerving.
He also remembers his hesitation to follow on Jane's command to kill the newborn, the near murderous glare he gave the girl after killing Bree.
Something told Carlisle Aro might not have that much of a good grip on him if he can show such rebellious behavior compared to the others.
And he also remembers how he had lingered back after the near fight with the Volturi, staring at Alice.
It put Carlisle on edge, did Aro plan to use the empath to pick out the relationship between them? Didn't he already have Marcus for that? God, things were so not good.
And what was it with Alice's reactions? She didn't knew the Volturi, that much he knew, then why did they affect her so much?
He couldn't understand.
~
The Volturi made their apparition once again not even a week after the near fight, this time around it was just Caius.
And the muzzled one.
Ever since Carlisle found out about that muzzled Volturi being an empath he debated whether to be impressed and fascinated or on edge, because empaths were known to be difficult to handle, some could be downright violent.
Their gift making them too susceptible to stimulus, which begs the question on how did Aro kept him sane, or how did he come across him, Eleazar had said he had the feeling this one wasn't the general empath, that there might be more to him.
And Carlisle can't help but agree, because what good would there be for Aro to have an empath that needs to touch others to read emotions? That doesn't sound like something Aro would be thrilled about nor even find useful.
So.
What can this empath do?
-Caius, to what do we owe your visit? I thought we came to an understatement last time we saw each other?- Carlisle asks for a greeting as he comes to stand at the porch, the others looming behind.
-We have come to check that the child is indeed, still growing.
-Of course she is.- Emmett snaps, Carlisle throws him a warning look.
-She's grown three inches since last week.- Carlisle informed as Edward came to stand at his side holding Renesmee's hand.
She still looked like an 10 year old, but she was undoubtedly taller.
-Aro claims her to be older than what her appearance dictates. She does seem to hold a mature gaze, but she's still a child. I have also come to confirm she's got the mind to control herself or if she's just as impulsive as a child.- Caius told as a statement of fact.
-She can control herself just fine.- Bella dictates, biting back the urge to growl at the blond, how dare he think her daughter to be mindless? Renesmee held an outstanding control. She might be a child but she was smart, she knew what was right and what was wrong.
-We will be the judges of that, Jor, would you?- Caius' words get Edward pulling Renesmee behind him, a warning growl leaving him as he sees the muzzled man take a step forward, last time Edward saw him being called and moving it was when he killed Bree.
Over his dead body would he let that bastard anywhere near his daughter.
-Jor here is an empath, children and adults are different from each other when it comes to emotions. If she's more than just a child, then her emotions will be different, right? Let him hold her hand and see if she's truly trustworthy about her control.
Edward clenched his jaw at Caius' words, and still, he forced himself to leave the porch, holding Renesmee's hand tightly as he did, he didn't approach the Volturi, he just came to stand at the bottom of the stairs.
He could barely see the man's face, his head ducked, the hood hiding him, he couldn't even read his mind, it made him twice as dangerous than Aro, Jane and Caius put together.
-Jor.
The empath approached at a slow pace, and to Edward's surprise, the man knelt infront of Renesmee, not even Aro had knelt, he pulled one of his gloves off, revealing quite a few ravenous scars of bites on his hand, and it took Edward's entire strength to not pull Renesmee away from him.
He held his hand out for Renesmee to take.
Meanwhile, Jasper wasn't even sure what was he doing here, Caius had dragged him to Forks with the excuse of checking if the child truly was trustworthy, if Aro were to know about this he would be pissed, at Jasper for going out without his permission, and at Caius for doubting his verdict.
He chose to kneel for the child so as to appear less intimidating, the fear he hated the most was that of children, it was overwhelming, he hated having to take his glove off, but skin to skin contact allowed him to feel the emotions on a deeper level, closer, louder.
He felt the spikes of fear from the mind reader, he wished he could assure him he meant no harm to the child.
But he couldn't.
His mind couldn't be read.
Also.
Caius said he wasn't allowed to speak to the Cullens. Why? He had no idea.
As the child gave him her hand he pushed all thoughts to the back of his head as he focused on nothing but her emotional signature.
It was wild, almost as deafening as that of a regular child.
But the wildness about her emotions wasn't in lack of control over her emotions but on the fact that she seemed to not bother to restrain what she felt, emotional freedom, but there was also an edge to it that made it quieter than the usual child.
She liked to have her emotions wild.
But it was a choice.
She could reign them all back in if she wanted to.
And Jasper has never met a child who could wield such control over their emotions.
Caius was not gonna be happy.
He smirked behind the muzzle. The man at times thought himself smarter than Aro, but oh how wrong he was, no one could deceive Aro, he wasn't the "top boss" for nothing.
He almost jumps out of his skin when he feels the child touch one of the scars on his hand, one of the most recent ones, right between his thumb and index finger.
She was stroking it with her thumb with the utmost of cares, he almost choked on air, not even in a thousand years could he ever think someone would do something so… he didn't knew how to call it, he hated physical contact, it was nothing but a promise for pain.
So to have this child touching his scars in such a manner it's like someone's yanked a rug from under his feet, leaving him confused and not knowing how to react, he doesn't even remember when was the last time anyone showed such gentleness to him.
It makes a knot stick at the back of his throat, her emotions are filled with sadness, for him, she didn't even know him, for all she knew he could have come here to hurt her and those she cares about.
And she's still showing him such sympathy.
Suddenly, he remembers something, and in a moment of weakness that he knows won't bode well for him, he reaches into his robe, into one of the pockets where he knows he's been keeping a few things Alec had given to him.
As he said before, the kid and him weren't close, Alec didn't spend much time with him because it angered Jane, and Jasper didn't spend much time with him because the sight of the kid made a pit open in his stomach.
He knew it wasn't Alec's fault, he was just following orders, but Jasper couldn't look at him without not seeing his personal hell.
The kid never apologizes, he doesn't have to, he's doing his job, he's loyal to Aro, he's not his friend.
And still.
Every single time without fail, after Alec's used his gift on him, he always gives him something afterwards, from tiny animals' toys to random comic books and stickers.
Last time he gave him a handful of… interesting stickers.
Dinosaurs.
He had kept them in his pocket, forgot to leave them in his room.
He takes one out, a little green T-Rex holding a mug. A simple text below.
"Tea-Rex"
He frees his hand from the child's hold before placing the sticker on her open palm. The thrill in her emotions makes his lips quirk up into a smile, children's emotions might be overwhelming, but he won't lie and say he isn't snuck out of Volterra to sit at the park where children played at, another way for him to breathe easier, their joy, excitement and happiness making him feel just a bit alive.
But he could never stay for more than a few minutes, if he did, the adults would suffocate him under a sea of wariness, disgust, mistrust, fear, alarm, anxiety, and anger.
And then, sometimes too soon, a cop would be called.
Or a father or mother would get on his face and ask which child was his, when he didn't answer, negative reactions would rise.
He knew his appearance made him look like a creep, plus, it didn't come out right for a man to be sitting at the park with no child to watch over at all, people regarded him as either a pervert or a kidnapper.
As if he could ever harm a child on his own volition.
The only children he ever harmed were the ones María commanded him to kill, and now, Bree had also been added to the list.
He didn't miss the flickering surprise in the mind reader's emotions.
Nor the anger in Caius.
-Thanks.- The girl's voice catches his attention, she's giving him such a bright smile he can't help but wonder how could someone ever think about harming a child.
For what he had heard about the Cullens he knew for logic that none of them would ever commit the atrocity of cursing a child to immortality.
He put his glove back on before straightening up and making his way back to Caius.
-Aro's right, she can control herself just fine, her emotions are as loud as a regular child, yes, but 'cause she chooses for 'em to be like that, she can change it if she wants.- He informs, his voice low enough for no one but Caius to hear.
The anger intensifies in the man.
And Jasper knows it burns him to be in the wrong, he smiles at that, a little pleasure about being alive, getting to see Caius pissed off because things didn't go how he wanted them to.
It was priceless.
~
-Look what he gave me!- Renesmee exclaimed in excitement as she showed her mother the "Tea-Rex" sticker. It was the exact same sticker she hadn't gotten, uncle Emmett had bought her dinosaur stickers with funny jokes, and while the Tea-Rex was in the patterns from the box it hadn't been in the box.
-You should throw that away.- Rosalie said, her nose scrunched up in distaste, what the hell had that creep intended with giving Renesmee a sticker? Why did he even have something so stupid with him?
-No, Sue says it's rude to throw away other people's gifts as long as they aren't harmful, this isn't harmful and I like it. So I am keeping it.- Renesmee refuted stubbornly.
-He's a bad person. You shouldn't receive stuff from bad people.- Rosalie stated, what if the sticker was some kind of trick to get Renesmee to think she could trust the Volturi? One nice act to get her to not show wariness towards them?
-He's not.- Renesmee's answer got her more than one raised eyebrow.
-What makes you say that?- Alice questions, curious to know what had led Renesmee to such conclusion, she knew from where did that sticker come from, but she hadn't expected Jasper would do something so… strange as that of giving Renesmee a sticker.
But to be fair she guessed it wasn't surprising, she's seen him shed the Volturi's clothes for less suspicious attires and switching the muzzle with medical masks with silly patterns.
All so he could read and act stories for children at the libraries without drawing attention to himself or scaring the children away, he would play ball with or push on the swing those children at the park with negligent parents who weren't being watched, and show magic tricks to street kids so they could use said tricks to get money without having to steal and risk a beating or cops.
For someone who couldn't stand too much emotional input nor interact well with people he was great with kids, he was so gentle… because children regardless of their deafening emotions harbored no ill intent nor poisonous emotions to harm him.
-His hand was hurt, and I saw his eyes, he looked sad, Emily says truly bad people's hearts are so black they don't wield the ability to feel sad, but he was sad, so that means he's not all that bad, maybe he just needs better friends.
Alice found herself smiling at Renesmee's words, oh, how right she was on that.
Rosalie for her side bit back a scoff, as if, the Volturi were nothing but vicious monsters who imparted justice upon those who went against them, no care whatsoever, killing innocents for their own gains. All of them were monsters.
All of them.
