Okay, so if you were here last week, you saw that I had posted a chapter 11, but then it was gone... I originally posted my chapter but as I worked on the next chapter, I was making my OC way to needy and whiny, and I was starting to dislike her. So, I deleted the chapter and revised it.

It's not as dramatic or angsty, which is okay since previous chapters were covered that territory. Anyway, I'm not in love with this chapter but it's better than the other one, I think.

Goal is to have another chapter posted by the end of the week, so keep your eyes peeled.

ROWYN POV

The ding of the bell pulled me from sleep angrily. The pounding in my head seemed to go in line with each ring of the bell. Rolling over I groaned, putting my hand to my head, pinching my eyes tight. Slowly opening them the room came into focus and I groaned louder. I thought maybe I had imagined that I was brough back to the Chateau. To be honest I had hoped the whole night was just a bad dream. I made the decision to go to the party, all of it had been my choice, just wished I had made better ones.

When the bell wouldn't stop, I sat up and placed my feet on the floor letting my head fall into my hands. This headache wasn't going anywhere, and neither was the scrutiny I was going to get for last night. Every muscle in my body felt like lead as I stood. Looking through the window I saw John B standing at the bell in the yard looking out at the marsh as he rang the bell again.

I had blown off what JJ had told me yesterday because I was upset, but it didn't mean I didn't care. Big John was taken by Singh, and I knew what kind of man Singh was. With a sigh, I walked into John B.'s room, pleasantly surprised to find clothes I had left there from the summer.

As I stripped from the dress I was wearing and pulled on the washed-out jeans and cut off tee-shirt I thought back to the summer. It felt like a lifetime ago, where our biggest problems were hurricanes, or my crush on my best friend. When the most we could lose was John B to DCS... Before the compass, or the treasure hunt, the cross, Denmark Tanny, the island. Back then it had all seemed hard and now, I would give anything to go back to that, go back to easier times. Making my way out of the bedroom, JJ was in the main room leaning against the fridge with his arms crossed. Hearing me coming out of the room he looked up his expression unsure.

"Hey." I sighed trying to keep my tone passive. I had put myself in a precarious situation last night and, despite JJ and my relationship standings he came and dragged me away from making a bigger fool of myself… and I was embarrassed. Instead of handling myself I chose to go get drunk and forget about everything else. "I guess I owe you a thanks for last night."

"Why'd you go?" he asked quietly, and I groaned sitting back on the couch and laying back putting my arm over my eyes.

"I don't know," I shrugged.

"Rafe Cameron… It was stupid…"

"Yeah… yeah I realize that now, but…I let my emotions choose and i…" I pulled my arm away from my eyes and looked at him, watching as he looked down guilt rolling off him. "… Don't do that Jay, this was on me, not you…I was overwhelmed and rather than deal with it I ran."

"Roe…" he breathed out taking a step towards me. "I…"

"You don't have to say anything." I shook my head sitting up. "I have to learn to let go, learn that I can't fix everything. Like I said… this isn't on you." Before I subjected myself to any more embarrassing conversations I stood and walked out onto the porch squinting against the brightness of the sun. Jumping up to sit on one of the railings my eyes followed John B. from the bell up to the porch and he raised an eyebrow at me curiously.

"How we feeling this morning?" he smirked.

"If we are going to talk about bad decisions, lets start with yours their mister…" I scowled at him, "What the hell were you thinking last night dude, in front of everyone, witnesses everywhere…"

"It's something about the dudes face." John B shrugged rolling on his skateboard across the deck as JJ flopped onto the couch. "And the whole... 'no hard feelings.'"

"It's called goading John B. and you fell for it." I said rolling my eyes.

"It's kinda hard not to have hard feelings about that..." JJ murmured.

"Really?" I asked, looking between the two of them. "You don't think maybe you pushed her right into his arms with the whole trust problem you had with her? Look I'm not saying I agree with her decision, but you have to own up to the part you played man."

"Okay fine." John B said, putting his arms in the air. "I messed up to, but... ugh, it's just that... that look. His Kook look, you know."

"It was clear provucation …" JJ said.

"Not a word." I mumbled.

"Provocation." John B corrected.

"Provocation, and uh... I mean you had to do what you had to do." JJ shrugged. "No choice about it."

"Thank you!" John B said looking at his friend before looking back at me as I just shook my head disappointed. "Anyway, we gotta figure out a plan to get to South America, like yesterday, I mean they got my dad." I jumped from the railing to follow him inside JJ close behind.

"Yeah, but do you have any food real quick though?" JJ asked and I just scowled at him as we walked into the Chateau.

"So, I was thinking, passports, right?" John B continued. "We don't have those. Therefore, we can't fly commercial. We need other ideas."

"Okay well don't you got that money that you took from Portis?" JJ asked as John B opened his fridge pulling something out and smelling it. The face he made almost made me run to the bathroom. I was already feeling like crap with a pounding headache but knowing how old the food was, didn't help.

"I gave that do my dad." John B sighed shutting the fridge door and moving to the sink.

"We could use a boat," I offered sitting on the couch. "Rafe's boat got us down here."

"Ain't no way we get that out of the marina now." JJ shook his head. "But you got a point, like if we got a boat, maybe we could get down there 'cause the HMS..." he trailed off before chuckling opening the fridge. "Yeah, you know about the HMS... Oh Limbrey!"

"Carla Limbrey?" I asked, raising an eyebrow. "Sent Pope an ominous message, stole the cross Limbrey?"

"Limbrey has a boat, what if we took that one down?" JJ nodded.

"Yeah, no she took that back." John B sighed. "And the HMS is not gonna make it down to the Port of Spain, so out on the boats."

"This plan is shaping up nicely." I said with a hint of annoyance leaning my head back and closing my eyes.

"Okay so we don't got any money, and we also don't have a boat that can make it to South America." JJ said and I peeked my eye open to see him leaning on the door with the food John B had put away earlier in his hand, taking a bite. My stomach flipped as he chewed without hesitation, and I quickly closed my eyes again. "Actually, I know a guy... I'm on to something."

"Uh oh..." the sudden panic on John B.'s voice had my eyes shooting open again and sitting up straight.

"You don't start with the 'uh-oh' dude." JJ defended, still facing the wrong direction. "You're so negative."

"Get down!" John B exclaimed quietly, reaching for JJ and pulling him to the ground. I stood up scowling as the two lay on the floor. "Shoupe is out front right now."

"Alright! John B!" I heard Shoupe call out as he started to approach the house. Looking back at the boys, they were both maneuvering themselves under the table awkwardly.

"Oh, for crying outloud." I rolled my eyes making my way to the porch.

"Roe...wait... Rowyn." I heard them hiss but I ignored them.

"What's going on Shoupe?" I asked squinting at him as he walked onto the porch as I walked out.

"Miss Daniels, didn't expect to find you here." Shoupe said pulling his glasses off and giving me a warm smile. "You heard from John B today?"

"Honestly, I just woke up like ten minutes ago." I shrugged, running a hand through my hair. "But after last night, I seriously doubt he'd be anywhere nearby. Sure, he's trying to lay low."

"Yes, well he needs to come talk to me before this whole thing is a lot worse." Shoupe explained.

"If I see him, I'll let him know." I responded. Shoupe seemed to study my response for a second before nodding and turning to head back down the steps.

"Oh... Rowyn, I heard about your mom leaving." Shoupe sighed, turning towards me and I crossed my arms and looked at my feet swallowing the lump in my throat. "I'm sorry she did that to you again."

"Told you it was going to happen," I said looking up, "everyone told me to give her a shot... this is where it got me."

"It's her loss." he added before finally turning to leave.

"Sure, it is." I said to myself, turning around and heading back into the house before moving to the kitchen window and watching the sheriff's truck pull away from the Chateau. "You're clear." The boys quickly slid out from under the table.

"Holy... Rowyn, thanks for that." John B breathed out as he stood up straight.

"Sure." I nodded, "It's not gonna help anyone if you get arrested now."

"Okay so, I have a plan." JJ said, moving towards the door. "I... uh, I think it will work, it's a little sketchy, and you might not like it, but I think it will work." Without explaining more, he started towards the Twinkie in the front yard.

"No, no, no, no, wait, wait, wait what plan?" John B. questioned chasing after him. I followed them until the edge of the porch and leaned on one of the support beams watching as John B finally caught up to JJ and turned him around.

"If I tell you right now, when the plan is half baked, you'll get all negative." JJ said.

"Look I would settle for quarter baked type plan right now, JJ." John B. pleaded, still trying to slow his friend down. In response JJ made a mocking sound of John B.'s voice that made me smile.

"Come on." JJ said heading towards the Twinkie.

"Don't you dare make that noise at me." John B. scoffed. JJ stopped just before he got in the van and turned towards me, still standing on the porch.

"You... you uh... You gonna come?" he asked a little hesitantly. I studied him as he squinted up at me against the sun and then looked and John B standing against the passenger door of the Twinkie.

"Fuck it." I said with a shake of my head. Knowing JJ's plans this one was sure to be up there on good/bad plan that had a high probability of exploding. Once I was in the back of the van the boys got in and JJ pulled away from the Chateau, heading down the road. I lounged as much as I could in the back of the Twinkie, listening as John B continued to try and get JJ to tell him the plan. JJ himself continued to evade the questions and his eyes kept shifting to the rearview mirror at me, every time I would meet them, he would turn hold my gaze for a brief second before looking away. Finally, the van rolled to a stop outside bar over the water.

"Oh, perfect Rockfish... The place you go to bash beer bottles on people's head." John B groaned and I moved forward sliding the van door open and stepping out shielding my eyes as I looked at the building. It was old and not well kept up, but it was already full of Kildare residents, some still drying up from the night before and others coming off late shifts looking to let loose. "Yep, love that for us." John B mumbled as he got out and stood beside me.

"There's a guy here, that's always here that moves a lot of weight." JJ explained walking around the front of the van and looking at us. "My dad worked for him, come on."

"Hold up." I stopped him putting my hands up and closing my eyes. "Are you talking about Barracuda Mike?"

"How..." JJ scowled at me confused ignoring my question all together.

"I went out with Rafe Cameron, JJ" I crossed my arm and rolled my eyes. "Whose dealer is Barry who got his stash from Mike."

"Wait, is she right... please don't say it's Barracuda Mike." John B groaned looking from me to the blonde.

"Okay... I won't." JJ shrugged. Turning to me he looked back at the shady bar nervously, "Look, I know you're stubborn, but I think you should stay out here…"

"Because I'm a girl…"

"No, because the guys in there aren't… I don't want anyone getting the wrong idea and this guy Mike, he looks for leverage…" as he spoke, I realized that JJ was protecting me. Barracuda Mike was a big name on the island, and someone you didn't want to be on the wrong side of. Luke used to pull for Mike and if there was bad blood, JJ was telling me I could be used against him. Despite whatever was going on between him and I, this wasn't because he didn't want me around, this was because he cared.

"I don't like it." I said quietly, biting my lip, but with no further arguing I went back to the side of the van and sat on the floor. He looked back at me thoughtfully before patting John B. on the shoulder and heading into Rockfish. With my back against the door frame of the van I watched the two moved forward, John B still uncomfortable with going in and JJ trying to convince him to 'trust' him.

I closed my eyes; my head was still pounding angrily. As I waited for whatever storm to come with JJ's plan I replayed my conversation with my dad, my mom, JJ, John B. Kie... everything that led up to my poor decision to go to the party at Tannyhill. Why I decided going to Rafe Cameron would make my problems disappear was beyond me. I completely lost all sense of right and wrong. With all the right in my life going wrong, I guess I figured the one wrong decision would be right.

Groaning, I opened my eyes and looked back at Rockfish, my stomach in knots as I waited for the two boys to walk out.

"The order needs to be dropped off here," a familiar voice said a few yards behind me, and it made my skin crawl. Without drawing too much attention to myself I slowly sat up and turned. My father was standing with a delivery man reading something over the man's shoulder. His back was to me, but I ducked behind the van, out of window view from the van. "Someone will be by to pick it up once its been delivered." The delivery man nodded, and my father turned to leave. Through the van I watched him walk around towards the parked car a few spots away.

He got to the driver's side and unlocked the door lifting his head and turning around, and before I could turn away or hide myself his eyes met mine. He held my gaze with a sneer on his face as he turned, like he was going to walk towards me.

"Okay, so what do we gotta do?" John B said behind me as they came out of Rockfish, but I didn't turn to acknowledge them. I was frozen in my father's gaze.

"Just a little something." JJ stated. A hand came down on my shoulder making me jump, and my eye contact broke as I turned. JJ was staring at me, I looked back toward my dad, watching as he got into the driver's seat.

"Was that...?" John B asked moving to the other side of JJ following my line of site at the vehicle as it pulled out. It seemed to back out slowly, its driver making a point to look back at the three of us before peeling out of the area, sending rocks out from its wheels.

"Did he say anything to you?" JJ asked as I blinked and shook my head clear of his face.

"No, just... just stared at me." I answered swallowing hard. With another look back at the area my father had been I got back in the van, both boys looking at me unsure before getting into their respective spots. Once we were on the road, heading towards... wherever JJ was telling John B to go. "So, how'd it go with Barracuda Mike?"

"We're in." JJ answered and I made a face unable to believe that.

"Yeah, what are we doing again Jay?" John B shook his head.

"It's literally the easiest job in the world." JJ defended. "We just unload it. You know what they do on planes, you know Delta and United when they take the bags off the... that's what we're doing. Once we do that, we punch our tickets, go on to South America. Sip on Pina Coladas."

"Really?" I questioned unconvinced. "All you have to do is unload some pallets of drugs... and then he's just gonna give us a ride to South America, just like that."

"Like I said, it's gonna work." JJ repeated almost as if convincing himself. "It's gonna be a piece of cake." After a little way out of town John B pulled off onto the side of the road in the tall grass. Stepping out of the car I heard JJ tell John B. to give him a second and he turned towards me, the same look from Rockfish on his face again.

"You want me to stay." I shook my head in annoyance.

"Look, we'll need an escape plan if something goes wrong." he said rubbing the back of his head nervously.

"Thought the plan was going to work." I shot at him crossing my arms before taking a breath and meeting his blue eyes. "Why even bring me along, if all I was going to do was sit in the van the whole time? What was the point in asking if I was going?"

"Because we need..." but as he spoke, I narrowed my eyes at him and he bowed his head with a sigh, "...honestly Roe, I was worried you wouldn't be there when we got back."

His response took me by surprise, and I uncrossed my arms and opened my mouth to respond but wasn't sure what to say.

"With us, we had a voice of reason, a backup plan, and I knew you weren't going to leave without..."

"JJ let's go!" John B called interrupting JJ's thought and I rolled my eyes. JJ looked over his shoulder and then back at me.

"Go..." I sighed going back into the van.

"We'll be back soon." I heard him call and then I was left in silence, the whispering of the grass outside lulling me into a light sleep. I wasn't sure how long I had been asleep, but I was startled awake by footsteps and arguing. Stepping out of the Twinkie the boys were a few yards away out of breath.

"Help is the exact opposite of what you're doing right now!" I heard John B exclaim and I scowled walking quickly towards them.

"You know what, you're right." JJ pursed his lips nodding, "You're absolutely, right. But you know whose fault that is? You and your treasure obsessed father."

"JJ." I hissed still unsure of what happened and why they were arguing. Before I could say anything else John B. shoved JJ hard, making him stagger a few steps, nearly knocking into me. Righting himself JJ turned back to John B. with a chuckle.

"That's where we're going?" JJ asked, stepping forward again.

"That's where we're going." John B nodded.

"Yeah." JJ nodded before pushing John B back, "Looks like we just went there too."

"What the hell!" I said watching as the boys reached around the others neck taking each other to the ground in a full-on wrestling match, cursing at each other. "This is not helping anything." I took a step forward with intent to break them up but a quick siren behind me made me jump. The boys on the ground stopped attacking each other to look up. Shoup was standing casually by his truck watching us. "Shit."

"Howdy boys." Shoupe called walking towards us.

"What's up Shoupe." John B. said standing up, straightening his shirt.

"You boys, okay?" the older man asked.

"Yeah, we're uh... you know just, um..." John B stuttered putting his arm on JJ's shoulder only to have JJ swipe it away aggressively making me roll my eyes. "We're good." I watched as the sheriff nodded and walked around to the back of the Twinkie pulling something from the fender.

"Tracker." Shoupe held it up, and I dropped my head into the palm of my head. "Makes it easier to keep on eye on you, hoodlums."

'All units, evidence team is enroute to an abandoned U-Haul, over.' a voice on Shoupe's radio said and I watched the boys as they both nervously looked at each other briefly.

"Copy that." Shoupe replied into the device.

"Sounds like duty calls." JJ cleared his throat slowly moving towards the van. "So, um, we wouldn't want to hold you up, so we'll get out of your hair."

"Hold on." Shoupe called out, "Now, we just found a U-Haul full of drugs, out near 158. Y'all wouldn't happen to be involved in that would you?"

"You have the tracker in your hands Shoupe." I said quickly pointing to the device. "We've been here all morning, looking for my wallet."

"Your wallet?" He looked at me suspiciously.

"Yes, I lost it last night." I said innocently. "Honestly Shoupe, I may or may not have been in my right mind and I don't really know how I ended up on this road, but I did... and this morning, no wallet."

"Uh-Huh... and this morning when I asked if you knew where he was?" Shoupe questioned narrowing his eyes at me.

"Like I said this morning... I just woke up." I shrugged. "You're lucky I came out at all to talk to you. Saw them in town, they offered to help." He regarded me and then looked at the boys trying to read their expressions.

"You see that... that's profiling John B." JJ said when Shoupe studied them.

"I know," John B agreed.

"And I really don't appreciate it." JJ continued. "Like, just cause we're Pogues you think we're drug dealers? No... no! We're not that desperate now Shoupe."

"You've been too busy beating people up and breaking up parties." Shoupe said calmly.

"Whoa, that's not fair Shoupe." I said quickly.

"Shoupe, there's an explanation..." JJ started.

"I hate to break it to you kid." Shoupe sighed reaching around his back and I saw him unclip his cuffs from its pocket. "But I've got a warrant."

"What?" John B exclaimed surprised. "A warrant?"

"Shoupe wait a second." I said.

"Topper is pressing charges." Shoupe explained walking towards John B so he could walk behind him towards the Twinkie.

"Hold up." JJ tried and he met my eyes desperately trying to figure a way out of this. Shaking my head, I just turned to follow the sheriff and John B.

"For what?" John B asked. "He started it."

"It was aggravated assault Shoupe." I argued. "This is ridiculous."

"Shoupe, Shoupe..." John B tried, "I'm being honest with you, honestly what did I do?"

"Hands on the van." Shoupe ignored his question and started to pat John B. down.

"Shoupe, I didn't... this time, I didn't even do anything okay?" John B groaned as the cuffs were clicked on his wrists.

"Shoupe, do you know what Topper did to John B!" JJ exclaimed; I stayed by the van as JJ chased after Shoupe as he led John B to the truck.

"No, but I know what your boy here did." Shoupe said, "He beat him in front of the whole town. And kept beating him after he was down, and Topper may be a douche, but you know better than that."

"Shoupe, come on now." JJ pleaded. "He was messing with John B's girl. You'd do the same thing. Shoupe, I'd do the same thing, in a heartbeat." JJ said lifting his hand up towards me making my heart flip. It didn't seem to faze the officer as he opened the door to his truck.

"Shoupe, I get it." John B tried one last time, turning to face the older man. "But I can't be locked up right now."

"Well, you should have thought of that beforehand." Shoupe sighed pushing John B's head down to help into the back seat of the vehicle.

"Come on man, we're doing this again?" I could barely hear John B mumble and I stepped forward desperately trying to figure something out. "I don't have time for this."

"Come on." JJ stated, taking a step towards John B. but Shoupe quickly stepped in front of him and pushed him gently away.

"JJ please..." Shoupe said.

"He didn't do shit..."

"You stay safe and stay outta trouble." Shoupe offered, looking from JJ to me before getting into his truck.

"Hey, John B." JJ said into the open window of the truck. "Listen, we're gonna fix it. We're gonna get down to South America and save your dad... I promise."

"Okay, back it up buddy." Shoupe sighed, putting his truck in gear. "We gotta go."

This chapter ended with a good place for me to start and for JJ and Rowyn finally have a heart to heart.

Hope this chapter fits the story better (for those that read the original chapter 11) and for those who didn't read it, hope this chapter isnt terrible.

Let me know what you think.
