Master Control
Chapter 28
"Here." The skinny form of Toshinori Yagi stood upon the wispy grains of sand settled upon the cleaned up beach. He held forth the bronze medal, Kendo cautiously accepting it.
"I don't know what to say." She stared wistfully at it.
"Then don't." The man replied. "While I have complete faith you could have won first place, it was your choice to exercise caution over your new abilities. A very respectful decision."
"You're just saying that." Kendo neglected the praise, but the man insisted.
"It's true, I even bet some money on it."
"That wasn't a wise investment." She teased.
"Betting never really is wise." He chuckled over that, not that he lost much over it. Being the number one hero did grant him a good amount of funds.
"Hold on, the teachers place bets on us?"
"Just fun between co-workers." The hero quickly explained.
Kendo was learning lots lately about how adults weren't as serious behind the scenes. "So, not to be rude to Midoriya behind his back but, did anyone place a bet on him?"
"Trust me, nobody expected him to get first place." All Might assured her. "Even his own teacher who won the bet wasn't confident in her choice. But now she's going to be riding those winnings for a long time."
Kendo's phone buzzed, and once she checked it she was now topped off with joy. "Looks like a lot of us are getting together to celebrate. Izuku's family apparently got to rent out an aquarium event room for cheap."
"On a first name basis now?" The man asked sincerely.
"Well, now that his sister is hanging out with our class more it's just easier to call them by their first names."
"Understandable."
Kendo was about to send a reply, but her thumb lingered over the digital keyboard. "All Might, I know you wanted me to keep an eye on him but…I really don't think he's any kind of threat. Yeah, he can do a lot with that watch but he's only used it on others in emergencies and with permission. I don't see there being any chance he just starts deleting quirks from people he doesn't like."
"I agree."
His quick answer took her off guard, and seeing that All Might expounded with a reassuring smile. "I know we've been very careful with Midoriya, trying to figure out if he's a piece in All for One's plans. But it's clear that until USJ All for One was unaware of young Midoriya. So, we will treat him as any other student, protecting him and helping him on his path to be someone great."
Puffing up into his form, All Might stood proud and tall before Kendo. "Now then, come Kendo! Let's get you to that party!"
"It's not starting for another three hours."
"It's a three hour run to the aquarium! A great warm up for the day AHAHAHAHA!"
"There aren't going to be that many people, right?" Izuku was in his standard outfit, his green jacket feeling a little tighter as the room continued to fill up with people.
His mother, seeing her son win first place, with the worst injuries received being a sprained ankle, decided to go all out. Renting out one of the rooms reserved for special occasions at the frequently visited aquarium, Izuku just expected for his handful of close friends to show up.
"I don't know." Eijiro shrugged as he looked at one of the tropical fish tanks. "This was kind of a last minute thing."
"Who knows." Mr. Kirishima came up, ruffling Izuku's hair with a hand. "I mean, the winner of the first year sports festival tends to be more talked about than low ranking heroes. Great job kid."
"Thanks sir." Izuku fixed his hair, which looked as equally messy as before.
"Ah! There he is!" Mina came in, two adults right behind her. The woman had fair pink skin that glistened in the light, while the man had the same eyes as Mina with large yellow horns sticking out of his head. "Hey guys! Meet my folks! Folks, this is Izuku and Eijiro. Great guys who work out a little too much."
"Hi." The man greeted casually, while the woman seemed more expressive and shook the hands of the other adults while looking over the kids.
"It's nice to meet you all. Are you Kirishima's father?"
"That's right! And you must be the parents of the girl I've been hearing so much about."
"Oh?" Mr. Ashido gave Eijiro a quizzical glance. "And what has he been saying?"
"Mostly how he should cover himself in marshmallows so she doesn't keep poking herself on his shards."
Mina's father was locked in place, processing that information and turning towards his daughter for a clear answer.
"They just talk like that dad!" Mina jumped in to explain. "Like seriously, I know Eijiro isn't aware of it but it must be a family thing!"
"What is a family thing?" Eijiro obliviously asked. "I mean, you do keep complaining about how it's difficult to hug me when I'm always rock hard."
"SEE?!" Mina knocked on Eijiro's head. "He's literally rock hard, but they phrase things in the worst way possible."
"More like the best way!" Himiko called out from the other side of the room. "Don't try and act like you don't like it!"
"Himiko!"
The pinkette ran after the walking mud pile, leaving hand imprints into her body from the repetitive slapping.
As Izuku watched with amusement, he suddenly found himself standing alone with Mina's mother. The woman, as gently as she could placed a hand over his arm. "She mentions you a lot, always worried someone might be picking on you."
"Yeah." Izuku could see that. "She looks out for me."
"Did she ever mention Akio?"
"No." Izuku shook his head. "Why do you ask?"
"That was my son's name, her brother, who was born quirkless."
Was?...oh.
"I'm sorry." Izuku did his best to sound sincere, even if he didn't know the situation entirely. It wasn't hard to guess though.
"When we realized he didn't have a quirk, Mina still loved him. But overtime she just grew more distant as she wanted to hang out with her friends, but they didn't want him involved. Eventually, when he needed us most we never saw the signs until it was too late. So, I guess in some way Mina is looking out for you and involving herself as much as she can. She may seem a little pushy, or that she's worming her way too much into your life, but please understand where she's coming from."
He nodded, feeling a bit awkward after having that depressing story dumped on him. It did make some of Mina's mannerisms more understandable knowing where it was coming from, but Izuku still felt that she was always an energetic soul who loved to socialize and cling tightly to her friends.
"Thank you for listening." Mrs. Ashido gave one last squeeze before going off to join her husband.
He knew this was supposed to be a party. Now it was just harder to get into the whole 'happy celebration vibe'. It would take a while to get out of this depressing little-
WAS THAT COW LADY?!
"Izuku!" Pony had arrived with her parents as well, continuing this strange chain of meeting the adults in his friends' lives. The man was very plain, slicked back black hair, wearing a business suit, stern features with narrow eyes and incredibly thick nails. The mother, oh wow she was tall.
She was like Pony, but with more human traits besides large curved dark horns along the sides of her head and cow like ears. What Izuku immediately noticed was that she was in her hero attire that had the whole cowboy theme going…which was kind of revealing to be honest. Not that Japan had a place to judge given how they have a hero whose persona literally screamed dominatrix.
"Hey Pony!" Izuku waved over to his friend, the mother taking just a few steps to reach him with a massive smile on her face.
"So you're my daughter's personal translator then?"
"Yeah, she calls me that a lot."
"Hmm, your english is pretty good. If it wasn't for the accent you'd blend right in most places."
Her husband was next to arrive, no doubt judging him with that hardened gaze. "His english? We haven't even heard it yet."
Crap! Izuku held his hands behind his back, fiddling with the omnitrix as he reconfigured the translator settings. It was easier to have it at default, translating all input and output to whatever language others were speaking. But if he wanted to keep it secret then he needed to make sure no two people heard different things from his mouth.
"I sometimes sound like I'm speaking Japanese." Izuku easily lied to Pony's parents right after meeting them, which was mildly concerning. "But what are you doing here? Isn't your agency based in America?"
"Oh, did my daughter tell you that?" Cow Lady grabbed her little spawn, giving her a side hug as Pony was being choked by the embarrassment.
"Actually, I knew about you before I met Pony." Izuku confessed a little more quietly, but his answer certainly pleased the woman.
"A fan! It's not often I get to meet foreign fans, especially when hardly anyone knows that I married someone who lives in Japan."
Finally letting her daughter go, Pony really should have seen what was happening next. Izuku seemingly summoned one of his notebooks from mid air, flipping to a specific page and holding it out to the woman.
"Would you be willing to sign this please?"
The woman happily complied, signing away in the box on the paper while reading the notes. "Wow, this is pretty detailed. I could answer a few of these questions you wrote to the side."
"Would you?!"
"Mom!" Pony finally had enough of her stealing Izuku's attention. Grabbing the boy's arm she brought him away from the noise and towards the snacks laid out on a folding table. "Geez, I didn't know she would be this clingy to my friends!"
"I thought she was just being friendly." Izuku mentioned, eyeing a bowl full of sliced pickles. Picking it up, he began to snack on the treat. "Also, what's she doing over here? A quick visit to celebrate how far you got in the sports festival?"
"I didn't even get that far." Pony whined, grabbing an apple herself.
"You got into the finals of the number one heroics school. Out of thousands of applicants of potential heroes, you got into one of only forty spots, then managed to get into the top fifteen from those hero students. If the ballot turned out differently, you could have placed into the top three at least."
"This coming from the guy who got first place." Pony added.
"I had help, and a lot of luck. I think the only serious fight where the odds weren't in my favor was with Shinso. Even then I only won because I just so happened to have an injury that snapped me out of his quirk. You though, you're an amazing fighter who can focus on so many things at once. Pony, you are incredible."
Her apple fell out of her hand, the girl standing there with a wobbly smile she was desperately holding in. Izuku began taking note of her attitude, the way she was blushing profusely, he never really saw this side of her often. Only when they were sharing a private moment and…no..no way. Life made it clear no one would ever like him that way.
"I..think you're incredible too Izuku."
….maybe he was wrong.
Pony grabbed her apple off the floor, tugging at the neckline of her white tank top. "I-I'M gonna throw this away! And get a drink! It's really warm for an aquarium."
And then she was off, speed walking away with a posture as stiff as Ida's. Izuku couldn't help but stare, his mind going over the interaction, the implications, the body language, compared to every time she was with him versus others. He needed another pickle.
"What was that about?" Himiko came up with Eri after wandering through part of the aquarium. The smaller girl reached up and grabbed a pickle herself.
"Himiko." Izuku paused, really thinking about the question he was about to ask. Out of everyone he knew Himiko was probably the best at gauging people's emotions, at least when she wasn't biased. Still, he needed to know if his thinking was on the right track. "Do you think Pony likes me?"
Eri bursted into a fit of giggles, while Himiko groaned in defeat. The blonde pulled out her wallet from her stomach, handing Eri a thick wad of cash. "You're just NOW figuring this out?!"
Ok, they obviously knew something was going on, which confirmed Izuku's recent suspicions. How come he was just now seeing this?! There was still a chance he could be getting the wrong impression butiftheythoughtthesameashimaboutPonythen- ah, he ran out of pickles.
"Hold that thought." He placed the empty bowl down, picking up another one and snacking on them once again.
"Why are you eating so many pickles?" Eri asked the boy, who never had this much interest in them.
"Better question-" Himiko patted her little sister's head. "-why does this place have so many pickles? One bowl should be plenty for a party this size."
The door to the room clicked, and luckily this time they didn't bring their parents. Ochaco was looking around the place, her eyes spotting a familiar face and becoming much more relaxed. "Hey Izuku!"
"Hey." He greeted back warmly. "I'm glad someone here didn't bring their parents. Nothing against them! I'd probably be happy to meet them and discuss some ideas, but it would be a little weird if everyone brought their parents."
"Well I was going to bring mine, but they had to get back to work right after coming to visit me."
Was there something he was missing? Were parties normally supposed to involve family members?
"I don't think a lot of us are gonna be able to bring our parents." Ochaco clarified. "I mean, it was kind of sudden but most of the others should make it."
Himiko rotated her brother to face her, giving him a bewildered expression. "Just how many people did you invite?!"
"What?! I thought you sent out the invite texts!"
"It was Mom." Eri informed the two. "She was on the phone with the teacher and asked for the student and parent numbers."
The three teenagers closest all glanced at one another, knowing they were all in different classes but were still involved with one another.
"Who's teacher?" Ochaco asked.
*SLAM* "WWWOOOOOOOOOOO! THERE'S MY STAR!" Cueball came bursting into the room, wearing what could be confused as a biker outfit but still had the eight ball logo on her jacket. She made a beeline for Izuku, giving him a quick hug before looking over to the others who were all aware of her presence now. "Now I know I'm not supposed to play favorites, but how can I not when he's the only one from my class to not just get into the second event, but win first place! Not to mention winning me all of the bet money I put on him."
She whispered that last part to Izuku personally. Just how many bets are going on around him without his knowledge?
"Huh, I must be early. That doesn't happen often." Cueball noted as she scratched her cheek.
"Why do you say that? It started like ten minutes ago." Izuku mentioned glancing towards the clock.
"I was under the impression that everyone and their mother was coming." She joked, getting a good chuckle from seeing their faces.
"...Who else is coming?" He asked with a dreaded feeling coming up his system.
"Weeell, at least all of class A and J, maybe some from D."
"S-seriously?! That's literally a class from each department besides support!"
The room they were in, it could only hold so many people. Looking around it was already starting to get a little packed. Maybe they could fit in a few more people comfortably, but sixty people?!
"Relax." Cueball patted Izuku's curly head. "You're about to learn a thing about impromptu business negotiation. Only one room was reserved right?"
"Y-yeah."
"But now we see we need something closer to an event area. Is there anything like that here?"
"Yes!" Eri piped up. "They have a big room where you can pet the sting rays, manta rays, coral, star fish, and-"
"Ok!" Cueball matched her excitement, taking over the conversation before it could get too sidetracked. "So, if we want to get that room on short notice, what's something we can bargain with?"
"Money?" Himiko suggested.
"A private tour of a famous city!" Eri exclaimed, Izuku tucking the omnitrix behind his back.
"I don't think we can offer the second one." Cueball seemed to actually consider the ideas. "Also, they would be in a better position to demand more money for the room for such short notice. Especially if they have to cancel another group's reservation. So, what else could we provide for them that would benefit the business that would cost little on our end?"
"Publicity!" Izuku finally realized.
"Bingo! And who better to help get this place some attention than the recent winner of the first year sports festival? Not to mention it looks like we've got a couple other popular faces here."
Cueball's gaze landed on Himiko, who was very confused with this development.
"Wait, you mean I'm popular? Like the real me?"
"Well yeah!" Cueball pulled out her phone. "Everyone knows now you're that super controversial streamer who impersonates heroes. How come you're not aware of this?"
"Hmph. I got grounded for 'antagonizing the number two hero on live television.'" Himiko grumbled.
"Which was totally reasonable." Izuku jabbed, Himiko deciding to 'accidentally' dip her hair into his pickles. He gave her the stink eye, using Himiko's sleeve to wipe the pickle off of her purple mud. "Gross."
"There's also Eijibro, Pony, and Mina!" Eri added.
Cueball happily accepted her answer. "That's right! The more big stars we have the better chances of our bargain working!"
"Shouldn't we wait for a little bit?" Izuku asked. "Depending on who shows up next, we could have other people who placed high up in the festival."
"That's a good point." The heroine somewhat agreed. "Though we need to decide fast, the later we wait for this place to fill up the more desperate and uncoordinated we'll look. This is a common thing in business and life, things can go either way, and if you want to wait and see if you end up with a full house of cards or having to bluff your way through there's going to be risk. So, the question to ask right now is are you comfortable enough to play your current hand?"
"What does she mean?" Eri asked her siblings.
"She's comparing life to card games." Himiko quickly explained in simple terms.
"She does that a lot." Izuku muttered, pulling out his notebook and adding that to his growing list of fun facts to Cueball's list.
"Heeyyy!" Denki walked in, then another, and two more with Jiro in the center of his entourage. She didn't seem like she had much energy, but she still smiled when Eijiro and Mina came to greet her. Each of them were wearing their own set of clothes, but all the Denki's wore matching shirts under their jackets with numbers in the shape of lightning on their chest.
"Looks like our third place winner, or winners? Showed up." Cueball smirked, seeing the development. "This is what I mean, if you wait for the odds, things can go in your favor."
The Denki with the number one came up, holding an envelope and two posters in his arm and handing it to Izuku. "Here man. My parents wanted to come but they couldn't make time in their schedule. Same with Kyoka's, but they wanted to still let you know they appreciate what you've done for us so here."
The first poster when Izuku unfurled it was a one of a kind print of Mrs. Kaminari, aka the Electrifying Hero Spark that was signed with a personal message. 'For Izuku Midoriya, winner of the first years sports festival. You're super power is finding strength in everything and everyone around you, and you just so happened to help my son be stronger than ever, including in his studies. If you ever need anything, my agency is at your service. -Spark'
"It even pops under a blacklight." Denki boasted, holding out the envelope with the other poster. "These are from Kyoka's folks. They're in a pretty rad band and decided to give you this unlimited backstage pass ticket that lets a car's worth of people in. Though it is in your name so you'd have to be present."
"Wow." Izuku unfurled the poster, now his first band merchandise ever.
Himiko whistled, not out of jealousy for free stuff at all. "I didn't even know they made tickets like that."
"They don't." Cueball mentioned. "Usually close friends or family members just get individual passes for each show. This is a really big step into getting connections. They may not be in the hero business, but if you have any kind of influence over any industry you can usually work your way through to an agency with connections to them."
"Huh." Denki hummed. "Never thought of it like that."
"Since when do you think?" Himiko teased. "I mean, you still haven't figured out how to pull yourselves together."
"We haven't even tried to be honest." Denki waved back to his other selves. "We tried playing a co-op game last night, super fun. Got Kyoka to laugh a couple times when we kept yelling the same commands at the same time."
Instead of being a stereotypical girl who would focus on the fact that he was with Kyoka last night, her inner gamer had to jump out. "Oh! Which game did you play?"
"Old school COD Zombies."
"So." Cueball got Izuku's attention again. "What's your call?"
Reexamining the crowd, Izuku saw that the room was almost at its comfort limit. Between all the hero students and the fact that his family frequented this place so often, they might have just enough. "Ok, let's gather up our friends."
"Which ones?"
"AAAH!"
Izuku was getting used to Reiko's jumpscares. He wondered how well that would translate to watching horror films without flinching. "Hey! I didn't know if you were coming or not since you didn't respond to your text."
"I'm grounded."
"And you were allowed to come here?"
"No."
"Ok…well if you could get everyone that was in the sports festival to come with us that would be great."
"Sure, but can I ask why?"
Cueball took this moment to cut in, loving the devious plan coming together. "We're going to try and get a bigger room through legal interrogation tactics."
"Ooooh!" Himiko smiled widely as everything clicked. "In that case, I know exactly what will get us that room."
"Pweeeeaaaase? I wanna show everyone the fsh." Eri pleaded with her teary eyes to the employee. The blue translucent skinned girl with jellyfish stingers for hair was on the breaking point.
"Come on Jelly girl!" Himiko morphed into another copy of Eri, doing the same face that doubled the pinch on the employee's heart. "We wanna make lots of fweinds!"
"C-come on Eri, t-twelve year olds don't talk like that." The jellyfish girl tried to get them to stop, but they kept doing that damn face! "B-besides! The only person who can m-make decisions like that is the boss!"
"Then who's your boss?" Cueball causally asked.
"I-I can't reveal that."
"Hmm." Cueball leaned on the counter, staring off at the woman. "That sounds pretty fishy."
"HA!" Mina couldn't help but let out a laugh, the Denki's all snickering in the background.
"Buuut." Cueball got up, glancing at her phone as if she was checking her texts. "We are going to have a lot of individuals from the hero course here, and if this becomes a class activity then they would have to send a teacher to supervise. And do you know who teaches heroics at UA?"
That got a reaction from the woman. "A-All Might?! He's coming here?!"
"Pretty sure Aizawa sensei is the one who does actual teaching." Mina whispered to Pony, who had to admit that was the truth. All Might was more of a hands on experience teacher.
Instead of directly answering, Cueball pushed once again. "So are you sure you can't get us that room even if All Might could share some of his precious time here?"
"L-let me speak to my boss!" The jelly girl rushed away, leaving the group at the front desk of the aquarium.
"Well this is going pretty well." Cueball hummed in delight, seeing the frozen look on Izuku's face. "Kid, what's wrong?"
"Twice." He muttered. "I've met All Might twice in person but I never asked for his autograph."
All of Izuku's close friends gasped in horror, realizing what this meant for him.
"It's alright!" Pony tried to sooze him. "You were under a lot of stress both times!"
"I'm a failure as a fan."
"Dude!" Eijiro tried to shake him back to reality. "He works at our school! I'm sure you'll see him again!"
"I kept trying, but I can never find him."
"Those weren't the best moments!" Mina tried to justify his actions. "I mean, it would have been inappropriate at USJ or the sports festival!"
"I have no right to utter his name."
"That's going to far!" Denki yelled.
"Cueball" A deep intimidating voice spoke, lumbering footsteps approached from a large metal door in the back behind the desk. Cueball winced, knowing exactly who that was.
Out of the doorway came a literal killer whale, wearing a sharp white suit with a salmon pink tie.
"G-Gang Orca?!" Pony yelped. "He's the boss?!"
"How come I didn't know this?" Cueball narrowed her eyes at the much taller man.
"You're information gathering skills aren't as impressive as you make them out to be." The current number ten hero spoke with his sharp gaze on the woman. "So, my underling says you promised All Might?"
"W-well." Cueball tugged the collar of her jacket. "Not exactly promised but-"
"So now you're assuming you can use All Might as one of your cards because you happen to work in the same building?" His eyes scoped out the many students with her, further provoking his anger. "Not to mention using children."
The man was ruthless, making the other students question wonder just why he was so cruel to her.
"Now hold on!" Cueball stood up to him. "I was personally invited to this party! Where my student managed to beat every hero student!"
"I would hardly call it that." Gang Orca huffed, then turned to the three Midoriya children. "No offense to your accomplishments, but we can both agree that you were incredibly fortunate for the circumstances to align with your goals. A risk you should not put your life on. Something this woman would never teach."
"Is that anyway to talk to loyal customers?" Cueball took a step in front of them. "As I've been made aware, these three have contributed a lot to this…place of yours. I mean it fits the theme but why do you actually own an aquarium? I know it's not your agency."
"Everyone has a hobby, I just happen to run a successful business on the side of my real work."
"Pst." Mina whispered to her friends. "Do you think that they used to date?"
"Maybe?" One Denki mentioned, the other shrugging in agreement.
"I see it." Himiko said.
"I think it's more of a work rivalry." Izuku muttered. "Both graduated from different schools and have different hobbies, so dating in their youth is unlikely. If they really did date at some point, then wouldn't one of their ideas be to visit an aquarium early on? Either Cueball would have played to his interests or Gang Orca would have shared his hobby. Also Gang Orca would have used it as a conversation topic regarding business at some point and asked for some advice, even if he didn't need it. All of that on top of the fact that neither seem to be physically attracted or disgusted by the other, which are signs of some shared intimacy as either longing or regret."
After finishing his analysis, Izuku now realized everyone had stopped talking, including the arguing pro heroes.
"Dude, what the cuss?" Eijiro leaned towards his bro.
"Yeah!" A Denki shouted. "Since when did you get so wise in the way of the babes?"
"Way of the babes?" Jiro gave him a critical eye.
"I have to agree." Mina finally blinked after witnessing the scene. "You never showed that much interest in others' love lives. Including hero gossip."
Ochaco agreed with her full heartedly. "I thought you would have avoided it, after, you know."
"Maybe he's going to be a detective like not Dad." Eri guessed.
"Yeah." Himiko chuckled. "I can see it, maybe after finally figuring out who has a massive crush on him earlier he's starting to understand-"
"HE WHAT?!" Pony shouted at the top of her lungs, her whole body practically glowing red. She grabbed Izuku's shoulders, shaking him back and forth as she demanded an explanation! "Izuku! WHO DO YOU THINK HAS A CRUSH ON YOU?! I NEED TO KNOW!"
"HAHAHAHA!" Cueball slapped the front desk, unable to hold back her laughter. "I can't believe some of you thought I would ever date that guy!"
"While your deduction points were, unusual." Gang Orca stepped forward. "They were incredibly accurate. Between your performance at the festival, your skills at deduction, and your continued interest in visiting my business, perhaps you would do well at my agency."
"Hold on!" Cueball faced the much larger pro hero with renewed vigor. "I got him first! He's my pupil! I'm going to take him for the internships!"
Now surrounded by so much attention, no number of pickles could spare Izuku from this. Out of anytime he needed saving, it was now.
*SLAM* "I AM-" All Might burst through the doors. "-HERE TO INTERRUPT THIS PARTY!" A wheezing Kendo jogged up beside him, plopping onto the cold floors to let it take in her sweat. "Also, young Kendo could use some water. She finished a predicted three hour run in just one and a half hours! Great progress young lady!"
She gave a wobbly thumbs up from the ground, plopping her limb back down as sleep threatened to take her to its realm.
"Y-yes All Might!" Izuku spoke over the rest, rushing to the nearby water fountain and grabbing a disposable cup. Once retrieving the beverage he set it beside the girl, who rolled over to dump it in her mouth.
*Gasp* "Thank *huff* you."
"Thank you young Midoriya!" All Might clasped a hand on the boy's shoulder. "Always great to see someone so eager to help."
Before anything else, a notebook snapped out in front of Izuku, flipped to two empty pages within the front. "Please! May I have an autograph?!"
"It is already signed!" All Might posed heroically, no one having noticed his rapid movement. Izuku, in full awe, turned the notebook around to see in practiced motion the large signature of the number one hero cover both pages with his insignia at the bottom. "Although, I could do better than that!"
"N-nonsense!" Izuku couldn't think of anything better than this! "I will treasure this forever!"
"So you won't come with class one A to a private tour of my tower?"
"P-private tour…M-Might Tower."
The sheer excitement was too much for him, everyone scrambling as Izuku's body began to fall towards the ground.
"Broooo! Wake up! I think ten minutes is long enough for a power nap." Eijiro's voice echoed through his head.
"If he wants to sleep let him." Reiko defended.
"He'll miss the party though." Eri's whine broke through.
"I'm sure she doesn't mind if he lays there a while longer." Mina snickered.
"S-shut up!" Pony's voice…so close.
Izuku's eyes fluttered open, looking up and putting the voice to the face, that was less than ten inches away from his own. "Oh, hey."
"...Hey." She was rigid, flinching ever so slightly at his movements.
Finally he processed it, his head was resting on Pony's lap. As nice as it was, the memory of what happened came to his mind and he snapped to attention. "Please! Tell me it was real!"
She smiled at his nerdy nature, holding his notebook out for him to check. Yes, it was there, his family heirloom for generations to come.
"A lot of people showed up." Himiko pointed towards the crowd of the much bigger room they were in. "Like, a lot."
Sitting up straight on a bench, Izuku could see the crowd. He recognized his own classmates, scattered through the others from the hero class. More surprisingly, he saw Shoto being talked to by his own mother. Oh, not Dad was here too talking with All Might and Kendo. They seemed slightly tense about something, but resolved at the same time. Toru was making new friends at the stingray pond, but there were some faces he expected to be here but weren't.
Ida, and Bakugo….actually the second one not showing up made sense.
"Excuse me." Someone he never talked to much approached him, Ojiro from class one A. "Are you doing alright Midoriya?"
"Which one?" Himiko questioned.
"Oh, I guess it's appropriate to call you Izuku with your family here right?" He asked with a slightly humorous tone.
"Hey." Izuku greeted, getting up after passing out not long ago. "Is there something I can do?"
"Yes, I was wondering…if you had any possible powers in mind that could work for me?"
Woah, was he talking about splicing? Here, now? His friends shared his surprise, well Ochaco actually grew nervous as she piped up.
"Me too." She confessed. "Seeing Kaminari get over his issues so fast and get so many more abilities, I was wondering if there was something close to my quirk that would get rid of my stomach issues."
Her too?!
"Hm? Are we discussing new powers Monsieur?" Aoyama slid into the conversation, eyeing Izuku with that sparkle in his eyes and something…else? Maybe he just imagined it. "I too, wish to overcome my stomach aches. Perhaps something as dazzling as moi?"
"Hey! You guys bringing up the thing?!" Toru came jogging over, shaking her hands from the water from the pond. "I know you just forgave me Izuku, but do you have something that will make me turn visible and invisible at will? It's hard to get a boy's attention when invisible."
"PLEASE!" Mineta pushed between the legs of a few others. "Give me a strong sexy body! Maybe a power to make girls fall head over heels for me! Or shapeshifting! Or unlimited stamina!"
"Hey." Tsu came up to the side.
"You too?" Izuku guessed.
"I'm actually pretty happy with my quirk kerro." The frog girl croaked slightly. "Being able to do anything a frog can do lets me do a lot."
At least someone likes their quirk.
"Hey!" Kendo called out to them. "Let's give him some space ok? He just gained consciousness. Also, I know lots of the ones who got new quirks got far in the festival but you shouldn't make such a big decision so quickly."
Splicing, what the omnitrix could do…Izuku put his hand over the watch, thinking back on how he ended up accidentally activating it. He looked at the others, knowing there were so many secrets he had to keep surrounding the device. But, when he met eyes with Eijiro, Izuku knew he could trust him. He had been the first, the one who always stuck by him no matter what.
If anyone deserved to be kept in the loop, it was him.
"Eijiro, could I talk to you for a quick second?"
"Sure man." He readily complied, Izuku giving a quick wave to his friends before stepping into the hallway alone with Eijiro. They never did see the pair of eyes watching their movements closely ever since they arrived.
"Is this about that thing you mentioned yesterday?" The crystalized teen leaned against the wall, completely serious as he leveled his gaze to the omnitrix. "A thing about the watch right?"
Izuku nodded, rotating the dial and letting the projection of aliens hover above it. "Yeah."
Eijiro took in a small huff of air, thoughtfully pondering over the consequences. "I mean, even if you used the watch to get out of that ice no one would blame you. We thought you died man."
"I don't know how possible that is."
"Huh?"
Continuing to rotate the dial, the holograms switched between each species held within. "A safety feature activated in the omnitrix. If my life is in danger, it will protect me."
"Oh, I thought it just blasted people who tried to remove it."
"That's a different thing."
"Huh?"
He just needed to stop dancing around the subject and get it over with. "You know how there are over a million species in the watch? If I'm about to die, it can turn me into any of them and let me be something that would survive."
The crystal orbs in his head widened, Eijiro stepping forward and seeing an armored looking alien displayed. "Wooah, so in an emergency you can turn into one of these guys and back?"
"It's not just for emergencies." Izuku looked around himself, scrolling once more before seeing the alien covered with eyes all over its body. "I just discovered that I can turn into any of them, at any time, for however long I want."
"...holy shit man." Eijiro uttered in shock. "So, all this time, you could have used the powers of any of these guys?"
"I didn't know." Izuku flicked the dial back down without transforming, deactivating the omnitrix. "I also apparently locked that feature, so that's why I never came across it all these years."
"What about now?"
"After the emergency function turned me into a pyronite, I decided to unlock the transformation function. I don't know where, or how I'll use it though. If I want to use it at home, I have to tell the others."
Eri would be stoked, Himiko might demand him to turn into all sorts of things, but his mom…oh boy that could turn out bad. Well, unless he started with something like a splixson. It was simple, non threatening, and its power was to duplicate itself while retaining individual consciousnesses. He could make an army and do all the chores in ten minutes.
"Anyone else?"
The question caught him off guard, Izuku unable to think of an answer to his inquiry. "Is there anyone else I should tell?"
"It's your call man." Eijiro held his hands up. "It's your secret, and it is a BIG one. But it's hard keeping secrets from people you care about, you know?"
That's right. It's been hard keeping all of this from his close friends. Hell Izuku almost felt obligated to tell the other ones he spliced that they were mixed with alien DNA. How would they believe him? What proof could he provide?
"Incoming Transmission." They both heard the omnitrix's voice, Izuku feeling some relief wash over him. "I'm going to take this really fast. Maybe Esta has some ideas on who should know about aliens."
"Ok man." Eijiro gave his bro a quick pat. "See you soon."
Smiling towards probably the most understanding person in his life, Izuku returned his attention to the omnitrix with some excitement. It had been a while since he talked to his alien friend. With a quick thought, he answered the call. "Hey Esta-"
"Izuku! I'm so sorry please just *sob*" Esta's distressed voice came over the speaker, Izuku immediately becoming concerned.
"Esta? What's wrong?"
"It's all my fault! I started asking around, trying to figure out who knew about the omnitrix but-" Esta was hardly able to speak, crying uncontrollably as Izuku's feet began moving on their own. They needed to reach her, but he needed to understand what was happening.
"Esta it's alright. Do you need me to come over and-"
"NO! Don't come here! He's looking for it!"
"Looking for what?!" His own panic was starting to rise, hearing how much fear was in her voice.
"The omnitrix! I was too careless asking about it! I asked a guy I knew who visits a bunch of planets about and somehow we got to a conversation about Earth and-" Esta was wailing at this point, something in the background rumbling louder and louder.
"He followed me, he *sniff* he made me tell him where the omnitrix was. I'm sorry! I didn't tell him you had it though!"
Someone was willing to do that much? Is this what Professor Paradox warned him about?
"What should I do?! How can I help?!"
"Run! Just run Izuku! Take everybody you can and get away from Earth! He's going to come to Earth! He's coming for the omnitrix just-HE'S HERE! OH PLEASE NO-"
There was an overwhelmingly loud noise that blasted from the omnitrix, until it was silent. All Izuku could hear was his own breathing as he stared at the omnitrix.
"Signal lost." The omnitrix finally announced.
His gut was twisting in on itself, someone was after the omnitrix, and even though Esta knew so little about it she was targeted. Whoever made her so afraid, whoever was such a threat, they were with her right now! Ignoring every warning she gave, Izuku acted immediately.
The omnitrix materialized the multi-environment suit around Izuku, the metal armor sealing him and preparing him for the volcanic world. With his adrenaline beginning to pump through his rapid heart rate, Izuku activated the teleport to take him directly to her home.
When the green light died down, he thought he was falling. All he could see out of his lenses were the dark, specks of white littering the sky. Was he in space right now? That explained the weightless sensation, but where was the planet?
"Omnitrix, where did you teleport me?"
"The coordinates of the Kraaho homeworld."
That can't be right, the planet was nowhere in sight. He could see a few chunks of rock in the distance, some pieces floating past him from behind, but none were the size of a planet. Looking around, he tried to see if the omnitrix was off somehow. Maybe he could see the system nearby-
Out of the corner of his eye, he saw hot red rocks crushed together. His mind felt blank, as he slowly pivoted his body to turn around.
There, right in front of him was a planet, torn apart with the pieces of the molten layers ripped out from under it. The surface was all around him, split up into dust that brushed against his suit. The very core of the planet was exposed, the glowing hot orb losing its life as the heat was being cooled down by the vacuum of space.
"...Esta…."
That was it, that was the Kraaho homeworld.
"Esta!"
That was Esta's home, ripped apart in an instant.
"ESTAAAA!"
The danger is real, and it's coming.

Stormgate: While Izuku has spliced people with aliens that have regeneration, I haven't seen anywhere that the omnitrix itself can heal injuries. I don't think there are any speedsters in the omnitrix that have that level of regeneration.
morsemadison532: I have no plans to do anything like that.
brave kid: While Izuku may have spliced Eijiro accidentally as a kid, he is in much better control of the omnitrix and takes splicing very seriously. For a funny idea, yeah, but in circumstance I just don't see it happening.
SuperSonic64: I'll be honest, I don't plan on doing a bunch more hybrids, but it is fun to read all sorts of ideas. A few have even inspired future parts of the story that I never considered.
EbayUserGreen: I try my best to make my fics original in execution.
gabedane: I feel very similar. That was a feature in the omnitrix confirmed by the creators themselves. I'm trying to find ways to put as many parts of the omnitrix in as I can, so that very small scene was including that function.
etabb6: Gutrot Midnight is actually pretty clever! But would she still be able to have her sex appeal?
BigTop: I do not plan to use aliens not featured in the show, even if they are canon they need to be on screen for me to include them.
Matt: Thanks! That was my whole purpose for this fanfiction, and I will be finding ways to make transformation be put to other uses other than fighting.
AnimeFan13579: True, the intelligent transformations could respark the technology race in the MHA world.
Spectraldemon666: If you want a basic Izuku fights bad guys with the omnitrix story, literally every other fic does it. This one is something new, and while I can say that Izuku will end up being involved in fights in the future he will use his transformations differently.
Triton0501: I mean, it was that or still have Bakugo be incredibly violent.
Guest: That's only according to canon, and this fic could go in any direction.
Samukaigaming: Why are you phrasing it like a question?
