Master Control
Chapter 38
If it wasn't for the fact he was still had sand covering his feet and a new look for his omnitrix, Izuku would have suspected it all to be a dream. Here he was, back in his bathroom, the exact same place and time he was before he went on a trip to save a universe.
Glancing towards himself in the mirror, he felt something else was different. Was he taller?
*KNOCKKNOCKKNOCKKNOCK*
The desperate beatings on his door set Izuku to be alert, the boy ready to give a mental command to transform as he slowly reached to unlock the door.
*click*
Eri nearly fell into the room as she burst in, panic clear as day across her face until she saw Izuku, alive and well. "You're, ok?"
This had been the longest he had gone without seeing her, his family. Every part of him wanted to bring them all into his arms and never let go. But, he had to play this cool, or else he might be grounded for half a year.
"Yeah?" He started to wash his hands, pretending like he hadn't been gone for a week. "Why wouldn't I be?"
"I, I thought you…" Unfortunately, his sister was very smart. "You have new clothes."
"I can change outfits anytime I like, remember?"
"You're covered in sand and smell like salt water." She came forward, placing her hand on his chest as she looked for something only she could find. "You're older, how long have you been gone?"
With his cover blown, Izuku gave into his desire and embraced her into a tight hug. "I missed all of you."
"Izuku!" Himiko whined from across the house. "You're kids are wiggin out!"
He couldn't help but let out a small laugh, realizing that his normal was some of the most absurd things he never would have imagined. In a flash, he became his necrofriggian form as he stepped out to help calm them down.
"I'm coming."
The wispy hand of shadows rested a glass on the felt coaster, protecting the carefully polished wooden table from any potential damage. When a pale hand reached out, skin cracking around the joints, all five fingers rested around it.
Normally, Kurogiri would already be moving to go retrieve a mop.
Not anymore, to his personal pleasure.
Tomura raised the glass of the liquid resembling melted gold, eyeing it through his disheveled appearance. His hair was longer and greasy, running over the dirtied dismembered hand that covered most of his face. His will was burning out, his rage towards everything he hated starting to simmer.
The world was so unfair, and he was starting to believe that nothing would go his way.
"Tomura." The static of the television spoke out to him. "You don't appear very content. Why is that?"
"I lost my quirk." The manchild said in a disturbingly calm voice.
"I have offered you many in replacement."
"But it was my quirk." The young man grabbed the hand on his face, pulling it away to expose his chapped lips. "Either way, nothing we do matters if that brat can just delete our specials while he buffs all his teammates."
"It's true, the boy is an enigma we should be cautious of. But why do you think your attacks against him have failed?"
"He's a cheater."
"He's mortal, just as you are. He may be able to relieve those of their quirks on contact and enhance others, but does he actually carry any strength himself?"
Tomura had the temptation to lash out, recalling his encounters with the boy. But, remembering those times all he could remember was that scared face. Nomu could easily overpower him, it was the watch that reset its level and blasted him.
In the alley, he easily had the kid by his throat and he could hardly put up a fight. Even when he took his quirk, Tomura believed he could overpower that kid. Nah, it was those other ones that would always put up a fight.
As if knowing where his thoughts were leading, Kurogiri deposited a few folders in front of him. Pictures of UA students, more specifically their before and after ones. It wasn't that hard to find, just social media stalking and their televised appearance.
The kid couldn't fight, the kid was scared, the kid was vulnerable. The only thing dangerous about him was getting too close to that watch. The only reason he's a real threat is because of how dangerous he makes those around him.
"How many nomu do we have?" Tomura turned back towards the screen, an unseen smile displayed before him.
"Seven, but for now I will lend you four."
That's not enough. He needed overwhelming victory. That crystal brat managed to hold out for a while against his main one. If he was going to go after these kids, he needed more than just tanks. He needed support classes as well.
"Kurogiri, let Giran know I want to talk to him."
"Certainly." Kurogiri obeyed as Tomura grabbed the manilla folders and left to his own room. Before the portal user could make the call his attention was pulled to the still active television.
"I've heard word of your recent activities today Kurogiri. Was this on Tomura's orders?"
"I routinely inspect and maintain this establishment."
"But you have not left?"
"Not for the last few days master."
"Hmmm, if it weren't for the fact that you are incapable of lying to me I wouldn't believe you. Once you are finished with your tasks pay the good doctor a visit. I think you are due for a check up."
Kurogiri was hesitant in replying, in acknowledging that order. Still, he had no choice, a slave to someone else's will and never knowing his own.
Izuku was being swarmed by fluttering blue wings, all of them gripping at his student uniform and pulling them back. "No, I can't stay. I've got to go to school. Eri's here."
Their trills of displeasure were obvious, only fighting even harder to keep Izuku back. Some wrapping themselves around his arms, others breathing chilling air onto his ankles, and even one of them latching onto his head.
"Ah! Keigo I can't see!"
"Woop woop!" Eri called over from the kitchen, holding up a polished silver spoon. "Want a snack?"
They rushed over to her, all crowding around her arm as she tried to keep steady.
"Thanks Eri." Breaking his feet out of the ice. "Come on Himiko!"
"I'm coming I'm coming!" The girl marched out of her room, purple mud swirling around to create her uniform.
"You need to stop going out naked." Izuku chastised as he opened up the door.
With a devilish grin, Himiko patted her innocent brother's cheek. "Clothes are just a way to hide our nakedness. I'm just doing the same."
"Gross."
Izuku slumped into his seat in his own class, letting out a content sigh as he got back into the swing of things.
"Izuku!" Subaru came up next to him. "We haven't seen you in a while. Everything ok?"
"Yeah." He gladly smiled towards his classmate. "It's gotten a lot better actually."
"Dude." Kazuma pointed towards Izuku's wrist. "What happened to your PQE?"
With attention back on the omnitrix, Izuku knew this would eventually come up. "I was on a short trip recently, and some people did some work on it."
"A medical trip?" Tanya questioned with some vague interest.
"Not uncommon for people to take time to see specialists." Ainz added on.
"Where did you go?" Naofumi was even participating in the questions.
Feeling comfortable around familiar faces he hadn't seen in a while, and having spent the last week and a half around a playful group, Izuku decided to test the waters with his own joke. "Would you believe me if I said I was in another world?"
There were no laughs, no chuckles, no one was even smiling anymore. Ok, maybe he should reel it back.
"Forget I said anything."
*SLAM*
"GOOOOOOOOD MORNING CLASS!" Cueball stormed her way in, instantly spotting her winner. "Midoriya! I didn't expect you here so soon but we're happy to have you! Even if you end up spending a bunch of your time with One A, we always appreciate your insight. But everyone listen up! Internships are coming for the heroics classes, and if you managed to get proper connections at the sports festival you might have some too. If you so wish, you can also try reaching out to the heroics department and see how you can help pick out an agency. You'll get some extra credit for this, and a foot inside the hero industry. Even if you don't have any plans to go that way, heroes have ties to everything."
That's right, Izuku had a bunch of his friends to help pick agencies. Eijiro, Mina, Kyoka, Denki, Reiko, Ochaco, and maybe Itsuka still. Pony luckily was going with her mom. Oh gosh he still had to pick what he was going to do.
"Ah." Cueball summoned a pool stick from one of the spots on her costume, pointing it at Izuku. "I know that look. Go on, finish up your workload so we can discuss your potential internships."
Not needing to be told twice, Izuku quickly gathered his things before rushing over to the other class.
"Alright." Izuku splayed out the narrowed down options upon the assembly of desks. "I think we're close. Itsuka, you're sure you want to internship with your father?"
"I think he's the only real option." The redhead faintly used her quirk to levitate the special request form in front of herself, growing more comfortable and confident in her control. "I've seen some of the things he can do, and it's beyond what the heroes who sent offers to me could do."
"And what's that?" Pony asked, Itsuka giving a smile towards them.
"I'll show you when I learn how."
"I mean, I'm going with my mom so I'm not judging."
After being in another world for a while, and hanging around a particular redhead with frighteningly similar powers, Izuku couldn't help but see the similarities between Gwen and Itsuka. Itsuka's quirk, didn't make sense. Believing it's magic made way more sense, or Anodite mana.
"I can submit that with the others." Izuku offered, gesturing to the many others who they still needed to go over. "Has anyone else decided on the choices?"
"Yes!" Mina excitedly held her hand up, showing off the page she printed off at home from a heroine's agency website. "Misses Water Hose! Her control over liquids would pair well with my quirk, and how she can use so little to do so much."
"Good choice." Izuku complimented, grabbing the appropriate document for her to fill out.
"Really?" Itsuka approached the subject delicately. "I mean, I've kept tabs on her since.."
"The muscular incident?" Pony asked softly, recalling how she saw it live when Itsuka rushed in.
"Yeah." Feeling some guilt and running her hand through her hair. "Nothing against her, but she's having a hard time operating as a hero at the moment."
"All the more reason to go with her." Mina decided with her cheery attitude.
"Ok." Izuku made his notes, pointing his pencil to Reiko next. "Did Eraserhead talk to you about your internship?"
"Yes."
"Next up, Eijiro."
"Ah yeah man!" The crystal boy flexed his arms. "I actually just got a call this morning from guess who?!"
"Who?!" Mina asked, matching his energy.
"No you're supposed to guess."
"They must be pretty bold." Izuku rubbed his chin in thought. "And this late? They're not used to doing this."
"It's Mirko."
"You didn't let me figure it out!" Izuku complained, really wanting to test his personal knowledge on heroes. "She's pretty agile, but she knows how to hit hard and kick better. I'm sure you can learn a lot from her."
"How about you two?" Izuku gestured to Denki and Kyoka. "Am I remembering right that you were thinking about a place you two could practice on duplication?"
"Yeah." Denki buzzed in place. "Maybe someplace with a lot of sidekicks or other big teams. Hawks has a lot of sidekicks."
"I didn't get an offer from Hawks."
"Ah, right. Forgot about that."
A team immediately came to Izuku's mind, one he encountered just before his trip. Even though they were a small team, with Ragdoll's quirk to keep track of so many and Pixie-Bob's control over several dirt constructs, it would help a ton with duplication. He just felt bad about his last interaction with them.
"Maybe the Wild Wild Pussy Cats? I think Kyoka mentioned them before."
"Yeah, we talked about it. They're a great option for me, but how exactly would that be a good pairing for Denki's electricity?"
"They work with plenty of 'ground'." The blond joked, snapping his fingers towards them with a cheesy grin.
"That was terrible."
"It's ok man." Eijiro gave the boy some pats on the back. "Just keeping reading those joke books."
"That does not help." Mina informed them with some pity.
"He makes a point." Izuku began. "Denki already has great control over smaller currents, like the circuits he demonstrated from the zero pointer. What he's never had the chance to do is let loose, even with his quirk before."
"Oh yeah!" Denki now just realized the idea. "With nothing but mountains around, I could go all out!"
"Just don't start a fire."
"Maybe I should go with them too." Ochaco wondered. "I am aiming to be a rescue hero."
"That might overcrowd them." The bearer of the omnitrix went over her options again, but then realized a particular topic. "Actually, before you decide I have an update about you asking for an improved quirk."
The shift got the immediate attention of everyone, especially those who were hoping to swap out their own. Aizawa rose from his sleep like, well a mummy.
Pulling back the sleeve of his uniform, Izuku revealed the new design.
"Woahoho!" Denki leaned closer, gazing into the dark metal. "Lovin' the new rig man!"
"What?" Eijiro grabbed Izuku's arm, seeing for himself the sudden change. "You got a new one?!"
"It's the same device!" Izuku pulled himself away, watching as Eraserhead marched towards him.
He didn't say anything, he didn't do anything, he just watched, his direct presence somehow keeping the class at bay from any sudden movements.
"It, got an update." That was the only immediate explanation he could think of, Eraserhead narrowing his glowing red eyes within the layers of wrappings. "It works with quirks now."
"Really?" Ochaco wondered, with more questions about how she could fix her nausea issues. "Then, what would that mean if I wanted help with my quirk?"
"I can save your quirk, render one from one of the ali-the creatures in it, and give you a new one. If you don't like it, then I can give you your old one back."
"What about quirks from before?" Eraserhead had to ask. "Are you able to restore those?"
With regret, Izuku shook his head. "Sorry, even if it scanned your quirk from before it's like it was reading corrupted data. I can't give you back your quirk."
The man gave no response, allowing others to continue chatting.
"So wait." Eijiro scooted closer to Izuku. "How is that different from splicing?"
"The omnitrix can either alter half your DNA with the species within, or render a new quirk from them. Splicing carries over more of the powers, but can have drastic mutations to where you need to change your diet, can't use standard medicines, potential personality changes, or several other factors. But getting a new rendered quirk-"
"-would let you still be fully human." Pony finished, removing the hesitation for anyone considering an upgrade.
"Seriously?!" Ojiro stood up from his seat. "Have you thought about what options that-"
"Before any of that." Eraserhead interrupted. "Do you have permission from your parents?"
Ochaco, and surprisingly Aoyama raised their hands.
"Alright, then you two can go into further detail about it. But, at least one of your parents need to be present before any final decisions are made."
They silently nodded, Ochaco returning her attention to Izuku. "So, gravity quirk?"
"Yep!" Izuku pulled up the hologram of Gravattack, projecting it larger for her to see clearly. "This is the main one I had in mind, it will give you way more control over gravity."
"Sweet!" Ochaco gave him a thumbs up. "I'll talk to my parents and see when there's a time in their schedule one of them can come over to UA."
"So Izuku." Pony leaned towards the boy. "What are you going to do during internships?"
"Yeah!" Eijiro joined in. "You got tons of offers!"
"I, haven't really had time to look through them." Embarrassed over the fact, he saw Eraserhead still stood right over them.
"Is there something wrong sir?"
"Not that I'm aware of. Care to catch me up after school in my office?"
Izuku gave a knowing look to Pony, who passed it to Ochaco, who passed it to Reiko, who passed it to Kyoka, who passed it to Eijiro, who passed it to Denki, who tried to pass it to Mina.
"Why are you looking at me like that?"
Itsuka knew she wasn't exactly 'in the loop', but wasn't Mina one of Izuku's first friends when he arrived to UA? As she tried to see what the unspoken message was between them, she saw another strange pair of eyes.
Shoto seemed to be eyeing Izuku, and Bakugo keeping a not so subtle eye on him.
How much more was going on in this class?
Sweeping her sights across the students, she caught the gaze of someone staring right at her. Aoyama, who had his head propped in his hands with his legs swinging under the desk with that pointed smile of his. He gave her a wink, Itsuka trying to look elsewhere until catching Mineta trying to peek his phone under Toru's skirt.
That crossed the line of tolerable confusion.
Reaching out with her quirk, no, her heritage she used as much precision as she could.
To turn on the flash.
Mineta froze, giving everyone enough time to see the source of the sudden light, including the teacher.
Eraserhead shot out his fingers, wrapping up the boy until he was nothing more than a squirming sack. The man raised Mineta from the ground, not bothering to explain his reasoning as he left the students to their own.
"So Izuku." Ojiro broke the silence. "Do you have any other tail base quirks?"
Shoto quietly ate his meal alone, just two tables away from Izuku, Himiko, and his growing friends. His father had stopped pestering him lately, and made it known that he was allowed to socialize with the Midoriyas. It just made him want to stay away, part of him wanting to defy his father and the other part yearning to be there near her.
In the end, the reason why he kept his distance was Izuku.
Back at the sports festival, Shoto knew he didn't use his other half. It was Izuku who became a source of heat more powerful than his father's ambition. It was Izuku who had that strange device. It was Izuku who was able to take and give power as he willed.
Pulling back up his phone, he looked over the image of a villain that wielded powerful ice, was immune to his father's attacks, and easily bested him. On the center of the Frozen Mothman's chest, was the symbol of Midoriya's device.
Theories came through his mind, but that's all they were.
He needed proof, hard enough to solve the issue he faced his whole life.
"Heya."
Shoto's head snapped to the side, Himiko leaning back against the table with her legs kicked out away from it. "Remember the last time I caught you giving my bro the stink eye?"
He remembered it very well. "I didn't mean to."
"I hope so." The blonde's body twisted around itself until she was sitting forward, propping her cheek against her arm. "Otherwise I would have banned you from my channel."
Shoto flinched in place after getting a taste of despair, Himiko's dark grin widening upon his reaction.
"Aw that's precious, but Mom always said I shouldn't play with my food."
She had his undivided attention, his instincts not allowing him to do anything else but stay on edge around her. Every small thing she did not go unnoticed.
The tapping of her finger against the table that echoed in his mind.
Her pupils slowly narrowing into vertical slits.
A dangerous shadow that seemed to stretch from her to overcome himself.
"There's something I've been meaning to ask." Himiko lazily rolled her head, letting her eyes trace the other side of the table. "You know how my brother's quirkless, so why is it when you had a little play match you decided to encase him in an iceberg that sank the titanic?"
With his mind already a mess, he could barely give an excuse as he struggled to remember. "H-he would be fine. He had the-"
"The device that's supposed to be secret, that would be triggered under extreme conditions." Himiko reminded, her clawed finger scraping against the surface towards Shoto. "Or was that icecube just an accident?"
"I-it was."
"Uh huh." Her nail traced dangerously close by his hand, Shoto keeping still so he wouldn't provoke the predator. "So, did you try to get him out?"
He had to remind himself to breathe, taking shallow breaths to seem calmer than he was. Did he try to help? He wasn't even sure what had happened back there.
"Ah." Shoto felt a pinching sensation, Himiko with her clawed finger digging into the back of his hand.
"My bad." Himiko didn't remove it, instead dragged it up his arm as he struggled to not flinch from the stinging touch. "You're just easy to break."
"I didn't mean to put his life at risk."
She nicked his neck with her finger, Shoto's body jumping in place from the smallest of touches that made his bones quiver. "Sure, but luckily he's been known to be rather stubborn when life tries to hurt him."
She managed to calm down slightly, giving him some hope that he could survive. It was short lived as she finally peered into his eyes with a deathly glare. "But everyone's luck runs out eventually. Something you might want to ask yourself, how lucky are you?"
Then she drew herself away from him, Shoto being pulled towards her despite the danger. Yet Himiko was too far already, always just out of his reach. Yet, he was never out of hers.
"Oi."
Not sure who that was aimed at, Shoto turned around to see Bakugo sitting at a corner of his own table. Oddly enough, his position was perfect for viewing his spot.
"Keep it in your pants icy weiner."
….Was he watching him the whole time?
Alright folks, new chapter. I'm tired now, I sleep.

Planar-Walking-Entertainment: If they have genetic damage, then yes, now Izuku can heal them without deleting their quirk. But if they are injured, Izuku will have to replace their quirk with something else that has regenerative properties.
SparkySparkpaw: It was briefly mentioned before in a conversation with Naomasa that some aliens in the omnitrix do exist in Izuku's universe while some don't. Like Big Chill.
XxGargantuaxX: Maybe towards the end of the story.
Bearticguy7: I'm sure there will be some moments he could appear.
Mashot Tito:
1 answered
2 a mix of both
3 At least one
4 He's got to play it cool to not get grounded for a year
5 For now, he'll stick with the business course. If he exposes himself transforming, then he could reveal to the big bad world ender he's here.
6 In this arc
Harleking31: At the end of Alien Force, it shows Albedo steal the main component of the ultimatrix. All that it lacked was an energy core. Azmuth did build the ultimatrix, but Albedo finished it with his own design.
Guest: He'll use both.
AnimeFan13579: He's going to play it off for now that everything is just as it was.
Whywouldidothat2230: I feel like you have too much confidence in my skills.
Greatcloneman67: Albedo would need to find a way to cross dimensions, without the ultimatrix which is in Ben's possession.
Guest: Thanks, I like math
HeartGemHolder: I'm glad you liked how both their characters can compliment each other really well, and how I accomplished it in this story. It never occurred to me that Ben would request to have his DNA spliced, given how at the time he still had his secret identity.
Which is more important to Shoto? Spiting his father or honoring his mother?
