Master Control
Chapter 39
Eri was happily drawing away, laying on her stomach in the living room as she sketched out some more details. Enji and Shinji were curled up along her back, wrapping themselves in their own wings like cocoons. Tensei and Keigo were racing one another through the house, phasing through the occasional wall as nothing slowed them down. Rumi was laying right beside Eri with her own piece of paper, using a crayon and making indecipherable drawings.
"Have they eaten yet?" Ms. Midoriya came out of her room, moving towards the kitchen as ideas for dinner tonight went through her mind.
"Some snacks." Eri was cautious with the strokes of her pencil, making sure she got the image just right.
"What did you feed them?"
"Those cheap silver spoons."
That was something the mother would have to talk to her son about. Cheap in her mind meant less nutritional value, but as for metals she had no idea how that worked. Still, she wanted to help think of these questions for her infinitely busy son.
Who was supposed to be grounded but is spending some time after school. The only reason she's not demanding he teleport home was because Naomasa had texted her about being with him.
She only hoped that boy didn't manage to find more trouble.
*knock knock*
Those quick taps on the door followed by it being opening was the signature move from the detective entering. After all of the assurances he could welcome himself in at any time he finally felt comfortable enough to enter without direct permission, but was always polite to make his presence known.
"Hi everyone." The man announced as he entered, throwing his hands up as two small blue bodies raced through him. "Brrr, I'm never gonna get used to that."
Keigo and Tensei slammed into Izuku's chest, their antennas dancing around his body as he wrapped them in his arms.
"Hello you little blubies." Himiko came out from right behind Izuku, stretching her arms out into feathered limbs to tickle them back.
"Welcome home." Inko greeted them all, then gave Izuku a pointed look. "I hope nothing happened."
"Haha!" Himiko obnoxiously laughed towards her brother. "You're the trouble maker now instead of me!"
"I don't make trouble!"
"You're always in it."
"I'm trying to stop the trouble!"
*Fwoosh*
Keigo huffed a stream of cold air towards Himiko, the girl immediately slithering away from the biting air. "Ah! You little blueby!"
"Don't say it like it's a slur." Izuku released two of his kids, letting them continue their chase. He made his way over to the rest of them, seeing Eri drawing away with Rumi copying her. Rumi looked up from her work to see her father, instantly flying up to him while showing off image.
"Oh I love it."
He didn't have a clue what it was.
Nevertheless she let out a happy trill, before putting the paper in her mouth to nibble on it.
"No no, that's not good to eat." Izuku gently took it out from Rumi's mouth, walking it over to the fridge. "We put these on the fridge."
Rumi sat down in front of the fridge, staring up as Izuku placed an All Might magnet next to the frost patch on the art. Even as he backed away, she just kept staring at it. Izuku even had to check to make sure she was breathing.
"Is that normal?" Inko asked, not too sure if it was an alien thing or not.
"Should kids be predictable?" Izuku asked back with genuine curiosity.
"I know I wasn't." Himiko grinned before going off to her room, officially no longer grounded.
Naomasa latched onto the back of her school jacket, the material stretching out the further she got away.
"Himiko." Her mother began in warning. "What did we talk about going to school without your uniform?"
"But Meeeeuuuuuum!" The girl rolled back as she flattened herself against the ground. "I crave freedom!"
"A stray splash could really hurt you!"
"I don't get hurt, I just lose a bit of myself."
"Who knows what that does to your body!"
Izuku rose his hand, Inko about to tell him to put it down until she noticed something off. It wasn't his uniform, it wasn't a bad haircut, he seemed happier overall which was good.
Scary alien watch that was suddenly bigger and had more things on it? Not good.
"Izuku." Folding her eyes, Izuku was suddenly at the mercy of the Mom stare. "Is there something you want to share with me?"
"...Not really."
"Inko." Naomasa came up beside Izuku, showing that he was on the boy's side. "I know there's things you'd like to know, and he is willing to share them. But please keep in mind that he's less likely if the people he's trying to tell are reacting negatively anytime he shares something important to him."
"He told you?"
"Yes, and with my quirk I can confidently say that he is at no fault here. Well, there's some things I don't exactly agree with but we don't have any authority over the multiverse."
Already feeling a headache coming on, Inko sincerely was doing her best not to just ground Izuku for another year. "What?"
"I, uh." Izuku tried to find a way to approach this delicately. "Was summoned to another world to stop an alien invasion from wiping out the universe?"
"WHAT?!"
Eri could overhear the sudden burst of shoutings, Naomsasa trying to be the mediator as Izuku kept defending his actions. It was pretty much the new normal, and while she would normally be begging for details she managed to get them last night right before bed.
So, serving as a calming factor for the blubies she kept tracing the outside of the sketched figure. She had been warned not to peek into the future, but now that she was more connected to the web of time, of cause and effect, the flow of eternity. It went by many names but no one was immune to its influence.
At least, everything she was aware of.
That might be why she kept seeing this figure in her dreams. She did her best not to seek him out but its image was a fixed point, connecting to so many other paths and alternatives to where it had a web of consequences to itself.
It definitely was close to human, probably by the build male, but his physical form didn't exist with regular matter, like it was made of something beyond that connected it to everything.
So she made it look like he was glowing, where he started and space began having no definitive lines as his head came to a crown of light. The stars that she dotted were flowing with his frame, space bending to its very existence.
As awesome as its existence could be, she worried for what the consequences would be for whatever caught its attention.
"So are you grounded?" Pony asked over the phone, Izuku in his room pacing back and forth with the iced walls keeping him confined. His children were dead asleep, all curled up in the metal bowl in the center of the room made from the spare freezer he disassembled. A dome of ice was over them, one he placed so he wouldn't disturb their slumber. He had been in here for hours, wearing nothing more than his new t shirt and jeans.
Normally he would be a popsicle if he stayed here longer than ten minutes without transforming.
But, there was a new feature he was enjoying, quirk transformation. If he can transform every part of his cells, then altering a fraction of it with a necrofriggian generated quirk would be easy. It wasn't compatible with all aliens, but a good majority of them. It was like he could use their powers without even changing into them.
"Yeah, except for school work and my club activities I can't leave the house or spend time in the omnitrix."
"I'm sorry to hear that. At least you get to spend more time with your kids."
"I really should spend more time with them." Placing his hand over the ice, he smiled as he watched them in their blissful sleep. "Now that I'm back from my trip, I can't believe how packed I made my life."
"I can't believe your first vacation was in America and I wasn't there!"
He got a chuckle out of that, letting out an icy fog from his mouth as he sat on the toy chest. "When I'm not grounded anymore, we'll get to hang out again with everyone."
"Scheduling can be a pain." That's something he could agree on. "The less people, the easier it will be to do something, together, us, you know?"
Pulling the phone away from himself, he let his screen light up to show her contact photo. Did he know? All he knew was that they were friends and she was special to him. Then, there was his chat with his friends in another world. Julie and Gwen were convinced that she liked him just in their brief conversation about it, and even Kevin gave him warnings about waiting.
"You still there?"
"Yeah, I just thought about some stuff."
"What kind of stuff?"
"Like, well, maybe it would be just easier to plan something with just the two of us?"
"...yeah?"
"...yeah." Izuku found himself in very deep water, and he realized he didn't know how to swim.
Across the district, one particular girl was making sure her phone's mic was off before squealing filled her house.
"Um, as long as we're careful we could go to anywhere on the planet really, or even another one. I'll admit I don't have much experience in interstellar travel but I know how to find some really good ones and…are you still there?"
"YES! I mean, yeah cool. So when are you ungrounded?"
"Just before summer, and since it will be after the finals it will be just the right time in both our schedules to-"
*Vmm vmm*
With his phone going off, Izuku looked down to see who was trying to get a hold of him. Oh, it was Shoto texting him….he doesn't remember giving him his number.
"What is it?"
"Shoto texted me. Apparently he got my number from Itsuka."
"What did he send?"
"Hold on he's still typing….oh no." Izuku felt his gut fall, seeing the image Shoto sent to him. Some made the connection before in One A, but Reiko scared just about everyone away from the topic. But what Shoto sent, was not something he could allow to get out.
"What? What's the 'oh no'?"
"He, sent an image of my necrofriggian form when I was fighting his Dad."
"Oh…do you think he thinks you're involved somehow?"
"He said 'I know you're him'."
"Holy shit." She swore in english. "Has he told anyone else yet?!"
"I don't know." Izuku whispered out as his mind was running to fast for him to actually panic, which let him think, something he was good at. "But if he was planning on telling others, I'm pretty sure he would let the heroes know first and they would already be here. Wait, he's typing out more."
"What's he saying?! Is it a bribe?!"
"No…he wants me to meet him. Tonight."
"Seriously?! Is he mad you hurt his dad?"
"From what Himiko's ranted about, it doesn't seem like Shoto would be mad about that."
"So then, why?"
"I have no idea." Ok, no bribe, no spilling his secret. Yeah it's bad someone outside the loop knows it but what is he going to do that he decided not to? "I think he just wants to talk."
"Couldn't he have just called?"
"I think he wants to do it face to face."
"So, are you going to go?"
"I'm grounded."
"I think this counts as an alien emergency."
"But I am going to do something about it."
"What?"
"I'm calling the police."
"WHAT?! What if they find out about-oh, you mean your not dad right?"
"Right….and I don't think he likes being called that."
"Well that's what everyone calls him. He just needs to date your mom and make it official."
"That sounds weird when you say it out loud."
"It's true though."
Marching across the sand of the darkened beach, Izuku glanced out towards the stars reflected against the surface of the ocean. He would spend some more time to enjoy it if he wasn't grounded, or about to meet up with someone regarding a closely guarded secret that could jeopardize everything.
Seriously, he unconsciously assaulted a number of pro heroes including those in the top ten! If they found out it was him he would be in a cell faster than XLR8 could run! Ok, maybe not that fast but the trial wouldn't be very long. The only defense he had, would mean exposing the omnitrix, exposing aliens, exposing his kids.
That wasn't an option, so he would make sure this was taken care of.
Tonight.
"Are you sure about this Izuku?" Naomasa's voice whispered from the earpiece hidden just behind his curly hair, that he was glad he didn't get cut yet. "I'm sure we could figure out another way."
"This is the safest." Eraserhead argued on their channel. "Just be lucky that he decided to ask Midoriya before posting it anywhere."
"Still, what if he has a violent reaction?"
"That's why I'm here, and he'd be risking his future as a pro hero. He may seem unstable but he's got good test scores and observation skills."
"I can defend myself." Izuku reminded the two, just as he spotted Shoto standing along a short unmaintained boardwalk stretching out into the sea.
"Barely a week of practice." Eraserhead said in a stern voice. "I'm not sure how exactly a retired 'plumber' operates but you're putting yourself up against a kid who has been trained by the number two hero for his whole life."
"I beat Endeavor, I can handle this."
"On instinct, you didn't have control." Naomasa was quick to argue.
"Now I do, which is a lot better than when I didn't." Izuku was finished with this conversation, now that he could see he was getting close to the planks of wood he tugged on his shirt for the two who were observing. He recognized he might be acting a little cocky, but he was shown what it meant to face a threat head on and what that takes.
You have to believe you'll win, or else you'll never see anything but how you'll lose.
"Izuku." Shoto called out just before Izuku planned to make his presence known. The bicolored boy was dressed in a long sleeve workout shirt, loose but warm sweatpants, and running shoes. He was dressed for activity, but he didn't look like he was even tired. "I didn't think you'd come, but you just proved what I said was right."
"This seemed important to you." Izuku honestly answered. "I know the, 'frozen mothman' fought your dad."
He hated that name. Arctic Ghost sounded so much cooler. Sorry Ben, Big Chill was a nickname, not a hero name. The only reason Izuku kept it was because it was already logged in the omnitrix.
"He did, and won." Shoto didn't sound mad about that statement, making Izuku really wonder why the boy was here. "You also beat me, back at the sports festival."
"That, was an accident. The omnitrix-"
"Turned you into something, that had fire." Shoto interupted, Izuku astonished how perceptive he really was. "I know I didn't use mine, I never use it."
Hesitant on keeping this conversation going, Izuku tried to push Shoto to talk more before he revealed anything. "Why not?"
"He's trying to use me, his 'perfect' creation to beat All Might. He thinks that if he makes something that can take the number one spot then it's as if he did."
"Endeavor did seem to be trying to get the number one spot. He's been solving way more cases and villain attacks than All Might in recent years."
"It's not enough for him, the people love All Might too much." Shoto walked towards Izuku, making the conversation more personal. "How familiar are you with quirk marriages?"
Izuku had heard briefly about the outdated practice. Some areas around the world trying to use its citizens to breed a superpowered army. Trouble was their soldiers had the power to rebel, so how did- oh.
Seeing the way Izuku was looking at him, Shoto went on. "My father forced my mother into a marriage, kept trying until he had me. He wasn't good to any of them, especially her. It got bad to the point where one day my mother snapped, frightened of me."
Rubbing his hand along his scar, Shoto actually looked vulnerable for a second to Izuku before he steeled himself again.
"That's why I will only use my mother's ice, to be the next number one hero, without using any of Endeavor's quirk."
In some way, Izuku could understand Shoto's reasoning, even if he didn't agree on several parts of that. "So, why are you telling me this?"
"Because you beat my father." The air began to grow significantly colder around them, Izuku wishing he brought his jacket. "And you beat him. So if I can beat you with only my ice, then I know I'm better than him."
Dang it, Izuku really didn't think it would go this way. Maybe he could still salvage this. "Why do you think I can turn into things."
"It's obvious." Shoto pointed towards Izuku's omnitrix. "If it can change anyone's DNA without even being attached, then it could easily give you any of the powers. The fact that you have a secret club with those you've changed."
Crap.
"How alien those new 'quirks' are."
Crap!
"How no one has heard of anything like this before on Earth."
CRAP!
"The fact that you're quirkless."
CRA-Wait, how did that matter?
"Face it Izuku." Shoto stood strong with his stance, calling the other teen out with all his research complete. "You're a secret government experiment for creating artificial quirks."
….
"I was really worried for a second." Naomasa spoke, Eraserhead and Izuku silently agreeing.
"It all fits together." Shoto continued on. "Because you're quirkless, you were given a device that could analyze and experiment with the blood of a blank template. You're in UA around so many strong quirks, ones that it can passively scan and generate new DNA based on them. You didn't know too much before in case you were captured and interrogated, and it has built in defense measures. It probably has a self destruct feature, and your attack on several heroes was a test to see if you could defend yourself. When you proved that, they trusted you with the updated version and let you in on more of the secrets. That was what your 'trip' was. It must be pretty high up the chain of knowledge though, if not even my father or All Might are aware. Even though I wish I wasn't Endeavor's child, his influence is big enough that I can talk to you about this right now instead of being arrested instantly when I asked to meet with you about this."
…..
"Did I miss anything?"
"Um, Shoto, how do I explain this?" Izuku tried to think of something to give Shoto without giving away his secret. He was only right in the fact that he can turn into these creatures, but other than that…what should he do about this?
Seeing his confusion from his pair of binoculars, Naomasa radioed Izuku.
"Don't deny it, just roll with it."
"It's too risky, and honestly his story sounds more believable than the truth." Eraserhead added. "He's open to you right now, and if you start denying him he's going to close up. Just pretend you're letting him in on the secret and you won't tell us."
"Y-you got me." Izuku couldn't believe he was doing this. Holding his hands up in surrender, he played along. "You won't tell anyone right?"
"Of course not." Shoto easily complied, then hardened his gaze on Izuku. "But you can't tell anyone else what I shared with you."
"You won't have to." Eraserhead explained. "His homeroom teacher a pro hero, and a detective already know now."
"He hasn't actually given us details."
"It's enough to warrant an investigation."
"An investigation which stems from the conversation revolving around the omnitrix, something we can not have any more attention brought to. Trust me, I don't like it either. But Izuku, see if you can convince him to talk to us about it in a private setting."
"Ok." Izuku, agreeing to Shoto's demand and Naomasa's request. "But Shoto, if your father really has hurt you or your family-"
"I'll take care of my family." Shoto interrupted. "It's me against my father, and I don't want anyone else intervening."
So much for that idea.
"But." Frost rolled down Shoto's sleeve. "I do need to ask you to fight back with your fire form, so I can know I'm ready to."
"I don't plan to fight you."
"Don't act like you're scared of me!" Shoto threw his arm forward, ice launching itself forward.
The trained instincts Izuku had been developing kicked in, the boy bringing his arm up, mentally activating the omnitrix dial to rise, and slapping it down.
*BWOOSH*
Shoto saw the flash of green as the mountain of ice covered everything in front of him. This time, he couldn't see Izuku inside, or anything.
*splash*
He spun around, seeing a being with a red body, large yellow wings connecting under his arms, and the hourglass symbol on his chest connecting to some kind of flight suit/harness.
"Shoto stop! We don't have to fight." Izuku in his Jetray form tried to plead to the boy. Shoto only glaring at the strange unknown creature.
"I don't want to kill you, but you can heal from injuries if you can heal the others." Shifting his foot, narrow icicles shot out from the ground towards Izuku.
With surprising speed, he easily dodged between them as he shot green lasers from his eyes to destroy the base of the ice. Izuku flew back over to the beach surface, turning back to human.
That didn't stop Shoto though, he jumped off the boardwalk and froze the water under him to make a path straight to Izuku. The ice spread, about to overtake Izuku again.
*BWOOSH*
*SPLOOOSH*
Izuku turned into the form he got from Bivalvan, the humanoid crustacean using streams of water to redirect the ice to the side. "I'm warning you, you don't want to do this."
"I know it won't be easy." Shoto slid onto the sand, letting out a huff of cold breath. "You easily overwhelmed me before, but you also caught me off guard. I won't make the same mistakes again."
Stomping on the ground, Shoto knew he had to really push Izuku if he wanted to get him to use his fire form again.
*SHLIICK*
A wave of sharp ice erupted towards Izuku, the alien not having the speed or power to stop the ice.
*BWOOSH*
So he changed to something else. Shoto saw the ice wrap around the bulkier form, seeing he trapped whatever Izuku turned into. It was a worrying factor, how Izuku could change so fast and had all sorts of abilities to call on. He thought he would only be able to turn into one for a certain amount of time before needing to turn back, allowing a recharge, and doing it again.
This wasn't the case, and with the ground shaking all around him he could tell he still underestimated Izuku's transformations.
*CRACK*
The ice split itself apart from the vibrations, chunks falling down as Shoto struggled to stay on his feet.
The sand exploded under Shoto, a clawed hand grabbing his ankle and flipping him upside down. Now Izuku was a mechanized armadillo, lifting Soto with ease to speak face to 'face.'
"There, I got you. Happy?" Izuku spoke in his new voice, Shoto only scowling at Izuku's indirect refusal. He placed a hand on the being's metal chest, coating a thick layer of ice around Izuku's chest and face.
Izuku let Shoto go, the boy rolling over and ready for whatever Izuku might do.
*BWOOSH*
The ice broke, bits of it falling into the mouth of a black humanoid metal beatle as it crunched the ice in its mighty jaws. Shoto didn't want to underestimate Izuku again, but the boy was still holding back with a close range form. So he rushed Izuku again with more ice for blunt attacks.
*PEW*
The horn atop Izuku's head lit up, breaking the ice before it could reach him. "Shoto, I can help you. What do you really want?"
"You know what I want! And it's exactly what will help me!"
Several pillars of ice shot out at Izuku, Shoto hoping to hit him from as many directions at once.
*BWOOSH*
A cricketing sound was heard, as a literal walking cricket bounded between the pillars before kicking one still being formed. It fell, crushing the others underneath and making a cloud of sand kick up around him.
*BWOOSH*
Shoto got ready for whatever else might emerge, ready to assault Izuku again. Only it got cold, a blue beam hitting his legs and freezing Shoto in place. When the cloud began to disperse, a large blue lizard was on all fours standing on the mountain of ice. He had more than one ice form?
"You've got fire already, you can get yourself out." Izuku's form spoke, before climbing down to the ground.
"YOU ALREADY KNOW I CAN'T!" Despite being locked in place, Shoto slapped his hand on his prison to hopefully encase Izuku in thicker, colder ice than he had ever produced. Anything to get Izuku to use his fire form.
*BWOOSH*
"AROOO!"
A sonic wave hit the ice wave, crumbling it all apart while also sending cracks through the ice Shoto was trapped in. Izuku must not be that experienced still if his attack worked in his enemy's favor. Fighting the instinct to cover his own ears from the pain, Shoto focused on freeing himself from the weakened parts holding him. Grabbing a piece and hitting it against his frozen legs, he managed to get himself free and face Izuku again.
But the boy was already rushing Shoto, grabbing his shirt and throwing him on his back. The force kicked all the air out of Shoto's lungs, Izuku changing again in front of him to turn into something much smaller. A yellow insect the size of a cat standing on his chest, spitting out globs of a sticky substance to coat Shoto's hands against the sand.
"Why should I use fire against you if you won't do the same? I still feel bad about hurting you with-woah!"
Izuku really wasn't experienced, Shoto easily realizing this because even though his hands were stuck to the sand it was only one layer he had to lift up. Grabbing the smaller form of Izuku, Shoto reared his fist back and slapped Izuku's small head. Yes, he was holding back but Izuku was much smaller now. No way he could take a hit from the size he was in right now.
*BWOOSH*
But if he could change instantly, then he could overcome his weaknesses in an instant. But Shoto saw Izuku was in a much smaller form than before, resembling a battery with big green eyes and sparking-
*BOOM*
The goop covering Shoto's hands exploded, the boy flown back from the unexpected blast as the sand that was covering the substance got right in his eyes. He tried rubbing them out as he got up, glaring with a hazy reddened gaze towards where Izuku might be.
*ZAP*
"AH!" The shock made his body spasm, Shoto seeing a small blur of electricity zipping around him.
*ZAP*
"Give up!"
*ZAP*
"Give up!'
*ZAP*
"SHUT UP!"
Ice was everywhere now, Shoto uncaring for his surroundings as he froze everything around him. "You can't possibly be holding back that fire for something so petty! Look! All your forms you've turned into can't beat me! If you used your fire you'd have won by now, you can be stronger with it! SO STOP HOLDING BACK!"
*CRACK*
As Shoto's vision cleared, he saw something breaking the wall of ice around him, and lifting it.
"LET ME TELL YOU SOMETHING SHOTO TODOROKI!" A muscular humanoid tiger wearing a black leotard with white angular stripes along it, lifted the massive piece of ice with one arm, pointing directly at the boy. "EVEN RATH CAN SMELL THE BULLSHIT YOU'RE SPEWING FROM YOUR WHINY LITTLE MOUTH! AND RATH HAS A REALLY GOOD SENSE OF SMELL, SO HE DOESN"T LIKE SMELLING YOUR BULLSHIT! SO TO STOP IT, RATH IS GONNA SHOVE EVERYTHING YOU'VE SAID BACK IN YOUR HYPOPTO..HYPNO…Hypolo…RATH'S GONNA TEACH YOU WORDS HE CAN'T EVEN REMEMBER!"
With frightening strength, he threw the glacier that would easily crush a building into the air. The gravity began to pull it down, and it was too wide for Shoto to clear it in time. He made new pillars, stretching them up to catch it before it would land. It slammed into his ice, breaking the pillars as it continued to fall until it started to slow down.
"RAAAH!" Rath slammed into Shoto, grabbing his arm, and proceeded to punch Shoto in the face with it.
"Stop hitting yourself, stop hitting yourself"
Outraged by the turn of events, Shoto struggled to focus as he was constantly hit with his own knuckles. So he just froze everything around him again.
The two were in a block of ice, Shoto and Rath together.
*CRASH*
But Rath had the strength to shatter it, and luckily let Shoto go at the same time.
"Rath doesn't appreciate you freezing him in the middle of a beat down Shoto Todoroki!"
"If you won't use your fire." Shoto glared heavily towards Izuku, his body numb with his anger rising beyond control. "I will end up hurting you."
But Rath only laughed at him. "HA! You think you can actually hurt Rath? Well bring it ooooon."
Holding out his hand, Rath beckoned Shoto to come at him. Shoto was out of patience, so breathing in to get some warmth, he was going to actually attempt to freeze the boy solid to-
*WHAM*
"Just kidding." Rath had punched Shoto in the gut, sending the boy flying away. "RATH WAITS FOR NO ONE!"
And Shoto kept flying, really far, making Izuku see his mistake.
"Uh oh."
*BWOOSH*
Shoto was soaring in the air, seeing several stars that he couldn't tell were real or not. Everything hurt, his own body growing stiff from how much ice he had been using to all the hits he had taken. His mind was filled with adrenaline, but it wasn't enough to overcome the numbing sensation crawling through him.
All he could process, was how he was no longer going up but down.
*WHOOOOSH*
He landed on something before it would hurt, the boy gripping the edges of a shell? Something was spinning around it, allowing Shoto to surf on the flying creature as it carefully was bringing them down.
"Sorry." A voice apologized from within the shell. A flying turtle creature? "Rath tends to get a little carried away."
"So you were holding back?"
"Some of the time." Izuku answered as he descended. "I'm a little new at this and don't have a ton of experience with all of my transformations."
"You were just playing around then."
"This isn't a game, someone could have gotten hurt, you got hurt, you need to stop this."
"Then stop holding back." With his senses reorientated, Shoto was still filled with the same anger as before. It was a cheap move, but he froze Izuku as he was carrying him down.
Jumping away from the block of ice, Shoto fell the rest of the way until he landed in the sea water. After his body sank for a few feet, Shoto struggled to summon the will to swim the rest of the way up. His limbs were slow, heavy from the heavy use of ice, but as his lungs burned from holding his breath it gave his body a little more urgency to fight towards the surface.
*WHACK*
Something hit him, smacking him out of the water and hitting the shallow shore. Shoto spat out the sea water he accidentally inhaled when he was struck, crawling onto the dryer part of the beach.
*Splash*
Something leapt out of the ocean, landing in front of Shoto. He looked up, seeing a humanoid fish with legs sticking out of the side of its tail and a neck brace filled with water around its gills. The light dangling from its forehead was glowing, highlighting the webbed hand that stretched out towards him.
Shoto reached out, building up the cold as he intended on freezing the fish in front of him.
It backed away just before he touched it, so Shoto slapped his arm against the ground to freeze it solid.
*BWOOSH*
Izuku was gone, a trail of kicked up sand being the only thing left. Grabbing his stomach, Shoto struggled as he stood onto his feet. He was soaked, cold, and bitter. Izuku refused to fight and ran away.
"I'll tell them!" Shoto yelled into the air. "I DON'T CARE ANYMORE! I'LL TELL THEM ALL IF YOU DON'T FIGHT ME-"
*WHACK*
He never saw it coming, the force sent him spinning across the sand, the particles sticking onto his wet body as he continued to roll. Shoto coughed, the pain from the impact starting to make itself known. He didn't care, he needed to see it, he needed to win.
*WHACK*
Shoto was sent the other way, the boy barely having enough sense to erect a barrier of ice to halt his impact. He saw the cloud of sand from the direction Izuku went, readying himself the moment he would see it turn around.
*WHACK*
It came from behind, hitting Shoto straight into his own barrier. Everytime he coughed stung, his ribs burning, everything hurting, it was straight up abuse.
But all of it was nothing compared to seeing Izuku standing in front of him with a disappointed look and his arms crossed. He only recognized who the slim blue humanoid reptile was with the dial on its chest. It stood on two balls for its feet, three black claws for hands, and a faceplate that retracted into the helmet.
"Are you giving up?" Izuku asked as he folded his blue arms. Shoto responding by freezing the ground around him, trapping himself and Izuku's feet.
"I'll take that as a no."
*BWOOSH*
The punch stung, breaking through the small ice barrier Shoto was leaning on. It was much harder this time, Shoto wobbling as his arms could barely push himself up enough to brace on one knee. Izuku stalked towards him, electricity dancing around the yellow hair of his new form.
"Yeah, Shocksquatch's punches do carry a sting to them eh?" The canadian form made small talk, infuriating Shoto even more. Izuku felt comfortable enough to give these transformations nicknames?!
"Why, won't you use your fire?" He couldn't even yell, his throat and lungs unable to bring themselves any higher than a low voice.
"Why?!" The electric yeti was perfectly capable of yelling though. "Why won't you use yours?!"
"I told you, I'll never use my father's-"
"No." Izuku shoved a finger into the boy's face. Static electricity nicking Shoto's nose. "Cut the crap eh? If you really wanted to get back at your Dad you would've never become a hero. That would have pissed him off beyond anything else. My sister can make him more angry than you ever have. Some part of you wanted to be a hero, but you're holding yourself back. Heroes need to be ready to give it their all eh? So don'tcha wanna be a hero?! Then DO IT WITH EVERYTHING YOU GOT!"
A memory surfaced to his mind. It wasn't the canadian accent that reminded him, it wasn't the pain, the feeling of imminent defeat, the fur right in front of him, it was the words.
The words so close to what his mother once said.
Warmth spread from his heart, igniting a spark Shoto hadn't used in a long time. Bright flames erupted around him, forcing Izuku back as Shoto stood back to his feet.
"I, will become a hero!" The boy stated, a dance of ice and fire rushing around himself.
With his body temperature stabilized, Shoto threw a glacier of ice towards Izuku, larger than he had ever made before.
He saw a brief flash of green, knowing the boy had changed. It better be durable to withstand both his attacks, otherwise this fight would be over. Pushing his other hand forward, he let a stream of fire release from himself, burning a trail of glass in the sand as it soared towards his foe.
No, it was pulled towards him.
He could see it now, the ice melting into the sand as heat was being pulled from Shoto towards the figure of flames.
"Sorry Shoto." Izuku, in his heatblast transformation, apologized as he pulled all of Shoto's flames into his palms.
"What are you sorry for? You gave me what I wanted!"
"I think you wanted a fight against someone like your Dad." Izuku finished absorbing the fire, the orange light coiling into a tight orb of light in his palm. "But Heatblast doesn't just make fire, he is fire."
Izuku threw the blinding light towards Shoto, the boy rushing to freeze it before it could reach him.
It melted straight through, the frozen air igniting with a heat so intense it exploded out.
Shoto was thrown to his back from the blast, the boy's body steaming as the water on his clothes evaporated. He placed his hand on his chest as it heaved, summoning the cold from his quirk to cool himself down. In the corner of his eye, he saw the pillar of fire approaching until Izuku was looking down at Shoto.
He changed back to human, and once again extended a hand to help him up.
This time, Shoto grabbed it, wincing as Izuku pulled him back up on his feet.
"You're really banged up aren't you?" Izuku noticed all the bruises Shoto sported, letting the boy lean on him. "Sorry."
"I challenged you." Shoto reminded. "I'm a little disappointed though."
"About what?"
"You don't even look tired. You really don't plan on being a hero?"
Izuku helped walk Shoto away from their fight, the attack heatblast made melted all the remaining ice in the area, but there was still some glass he'd have to clean up. "I knew since I was a kid I couldn't be a pro, the omnitrix is a big secret."
That's right, Shoto knew this was a top secret government experiment. It couldn't be used for Izuku that way.
"But." Izuku went on with a smile on his face as he looked ahead. "After a lot of the things I've been through, I realized I never gave up on my dream to be one."
"What can you do though?"
"I met someone in a similar circumstance, and I saw how they could go around helping people while keeping their identity secret."
"Will the government really be ok with that?" Shoto wondered which government was even behind Izuku's device. Maybe some secret worldwide organization running behind the scenes and controlling several countries towards their own interest.
"I'll figure out a way." Izuku shrugged, then felt the mental weight of another big task fall on him. "But, please keep this between us? We can still be friends."
Shoto was stunned that even after all of this, Izuku wanted something like friendship. But he wouldn't turn it down. If Himiko saw them be closer, then he could get closer to her. "Sure, I can do that."
They were in comfortable silence, Izuku helping to get Shoto back towards the wall next to the beach that served as the tsunami barrier. When they were nearing the bottom is when the half colored teen had a more personal request.
"Do you think at some point, you could give me the powers of the frozen mothman?"
"That's not his name."
"What is it?"
"Big Chill."
"..."
"I know, I would have preferred Arctic Ghost."
"That one's better."
"I know right?! But anyways, you'd need your Dad's permission, which I doubt you'd get after-"
"You're right. He'd never let me."
"WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT?!"
They stopped, hearing a familiar aggravated voice yell out. Looking up towards the tsunami barrier, they saw Bakugo glaring down at them, more particularly Izuku.
He wasn't going to get any more sleep tonight was he?
MANY TOPICS/CONCERNS ADDRESSED IN AUTHOR NOTES! PLEASE READ FOR CLARIFICATION!
Packed full of aliens and action, Izuku has certainly picked up a trick or two since his time spent with the Alien Force gang. Yes, Izuku can fight and turn into aliens BUT I will continue to show off abilities and the smarts Izuku has. I know some of you are worried this is turning into a standard MHA x Ben 10 crossover but I promise despite the future battles Izuku will be involved in he will be clever with how he uses the omnitrix and introduce more features that I haven't yet.
Omnitrix feature shown is from Ben 10 Ultimate Alien Ben 10,000 Returns. While it's not exactly the same feature, it is similar enough for me to include it. In the episode, Ben 10,000 is able to use his transformations' powers without looking any different, minus getting bigger using Ultimate Humungoursaur. It's unclear if he has an omnitrix, or an ultimatrix given how it looks like the recalibrated prototype but he turns into ultimate Ben and uses ultimized aliens.
It's clearly a unique function, and Izuku now has an equivalent of that thanks to Azmuth seeing how the omnitrix has scanned and interacted with quirks before. But, in my story if someone is given an alien quirk, it won't be as powerful as having half your DNA replaced. I will apply the same to Izuku, he can use his aliens' powers but if he wants to have the full strength he needs to fully transform.
We're going to be moving into internships full throttle next chapter, and yes Stain is still out there. I'll make sure to show some time with Tensei adapting to his career as super speedster in it. I'm also getting continued request to feature blubies and Eri, which I might write little scenes here and there but I will continue moving with plot.
One thing I'm facing though, is the rate of maturity for necrofriggians. I haven't found anything specific yet, and I know some of you will bring up 5yl content and I've already checked that out. Since there is no definitive canon answer, what rate do you want to see? Should they stay toddler level, or after a month or two show signs of becoming more cognitive and child like?
I won't have them become close to Izuku's age or pass it, that would be weird, but maybe they could get close to Eri's? Let me know what you think, it doesn't really impact overall plot anyways.
There is some confusion regarding Ben having been given the ultimatrix by Azmuth. Yes, in Ultimate Alien "Map of Infinity" he did make several comments on his distaste of the workmanship and the evolutionary feature. BUT! Back in Alien Force The Final Battle Part 1, Myaxx reports that they found that in a robbery the only thing stolen was Azmuth's "Greatest Creation." Azmuth immediately replies "The Ultimatrix."
Azmuth did create the ultimatrix, but Albedo added the evolutionary feature. It's easy to connect the two as Albedo says he can "also evolve those creatures to their ultimate form." Since we have never seen the ultimatrix's use before Albedo got his hands on it we don't have any details regarding Azmuth's original designs for it beyond it was another type of omnitrix.
In my story, Ben received Azmuth's finished version of the ultimatrix without Albedo's interference, aka without the evolutionary function. What that means for exclusive features Ben has access to that Izuku doesn't, I have no idea, but it must be a step up from the omnitrix if Azmuth recognized it to be his greatest creation. Who knows what that means, and maybe Paradox did some convincing for Azmuth to add that feature knowing what Ben would face in the future.
Luckily I don't have to think too hard on that since I'm focusing on Izuku's universe. If we do ever see Ben's universe again, it will be after or during the events of omniverse where Ben has the completed omnitrix.

Chronosign: That is a unique event that shows how disease transfers to aliens that Ben turns into. I might do something like that for Izuku given the rarity.
ElderEldrazi: For sure, you can imagine if they try to kidnap him and he just starts kicking their ass.
Mashot Tito:
1. I love those moments too, and we will get two arcs where Eri is a significant factor in them.
2. I really do love the idea of Izuku raising his alien kids and them doing adorable things. But he has a lot on his plate unfortunately including an impending threat.
3. There are some enhancements but with human tech they are still limited, and given their current knowledge compared to what's actually going on they are severely under prepared.
4. I wish I could write more slice of life in Izuku's business course, but it doesn't really have significant plot impact without making it seem like a multi crossover instead of cameos.
5. I'm going to be making them into a proper team in the near future.
6. The strong silent types usually are subs, and Himiko likes that. Right now, while she has fun teasing and playing around with an easy target she isn't going to act on any interests before she sees that Shoto has no beef with her family. Yes though, she is very aware with how he feels.
Harleking31: It's alright, we don't see Izuku's class much but Cueball is a character we will never forget.
Colossus Bridger: Alan is more half alien, but that is a good point for abilities that rely on more mutation. But if Endeavor has a quirk that lets him shoot fire, then a heatblast quirk would be similar. Only if someone picked something like Eyeguy for a quirk would I consider a physical looking change. Even then it would only be them summoning eyes on their body at will instead of all the time.
Maybe one like goop where they have to physically alter their body to use his powers.
Takanashirhed10: I'm glad you saw that, I think you're the only one to point that out.
SonicMax: Futurama was in my mind when writing that down.
PrimordialTitan : Izuku will not have any ultimate forms.
Puppy Leaf Owned: Azmuth did create the ultimatrix, but Albedo added the evolutionary feature. Read Author notes for more details and episodes of reference.
AnimeFan13579: There are some restrictions similar to what you mention, like how Aoyama isn't really compatible with his quirk given it gives him stomach cramps. He would need to find compatible hosts with compatible quirks.
Oh believe me, Hatsume will be gunning for Izuku once her suspension is lifted.
Preston2006: Read Author notes for details regarding future splicing vs alien quirks. You bring up a good point regarding the outfits, and I did a little something food the aliens seen in this chapter.
It's pretty much a no brainer Aoyama will want Chromastone.
Stain will still be apart of this arc, and remember it's not Tenya Iida who got spliced it's his brother Tensei Iida. I think there's some people who don't remember that. Tenya still has his original quirk.
ppsspp: read the author notes, they address this concern.
Guest: I'm glad you appreciate how much research and detail I put into this story. Part of the reason why it took so long for me to come back to this is because there is so much for me to plan and make sure I'm getting right. I do have a big time skip at the end of this story, but I guarantee it is not in the way you would imagine.
