Months had passed since Kayla had partially sabotaged her adoptive mother's Central Park plot. As if in the blink of an eye, it was November, and Butters' mayoral campaign was already underway. In fact, it was all but guaranteed that he was going to win.
Butters' friends and family couldn't help but feel a sense of pride that he'd gone so far, especially Savannah. She knew that if her half-brother were to win this election and become the next mayor of New York City, then it would be the greatest accomplishment of his life. After all, he'd gone through a lot of abuse in his life, so it only seemed right that he would make something of himself of this magnitude.
Savannah had been working tirelessly behind the scenes to support Butters' campaign. She was his biggest cheerleader, attending rallies and events, spreading the word about his platform, and encouraging others to vote for him. She believed in his vision for a more inclusive and progressive city. Her other half-brother Rabbi Cartman was also showing his support for the guy. He felt remorseful for bullying Butters when they were kids, so he decided to atone for that by just being there for him.
While Butters had been busy with his mayoral campaign, unbeknownst to him, Bitsy was manipulating him behind the scenes. She was hoping that like with other mayors before him, she could manipulate him in getting her Central Park plot closer to fruition. She still had him, the yakuza, Classi, and Nathan and Mimsy to fall back after she'd burned bridges with Dimitry and his crew. She'd also been searching for a new construction crew in the interim, but so far to no avail. She'd have to settle for another criminal organization in the meantime... the Ol' Reliable, the one known as the Irish Mob.
It was November 1st, just one day before the New York City mayoral election was scheduled to be held. As the day of the mayoral election approached ever closer, tensions were running high. Butters' campaign team was working tirelessly to secure last-minute support and ensure that their candidate had a strong showing at the polls. Savannah continued to be his biggest advocate, using her connections and charisma to rally voters and spread enthusiasm for Butters' vision. On the other side, Bitsy was growing increasingly anxious. She knew that her plan to manipulate Butters was risky, but she believed it was necessary for her own personal gain. She had been working behind the scenes, pulling strings and making deals with various criminal organizations to ensure that her Central Park plot would come to fruition.
She decided to invite him back to the Brandenham Hotel for another meeting with him, hoping to wrap up any loose ends before he won the election. Butters, totally unaware of her ulterior motives, was more than happy to see her again; especially since she'd assured him that everything was on the up-and-up. He followed her back to her office, eager to talk over his campaign promises one more time before the election.
"Oh boy, am I happy to see you again, Miss Brandenham!" Butters exclaimed. "I sure did enjoy our last meeting!"
"Certainly," Bitsy replied. "Are you excited that victory is on the horizon?"
"Uh-huh. It's hard to believe, isn't it? All that hard work... all that determination... soon, it will have all been worth it."
"Indeed. I hope you're ready, because the journey doesn't end there. There's still a long road ahead of you if you want to be a worthwhile mayor."
"I know, Miss Brandenham. It's just that when you've had to deal with bullying from your own parents, your grandma, and even some kids like I have... well, it just makes you want to go far in life just to spite them all, you know?"
Bitsy chuckled mirthlessly. "Yes, I know what that's like..."
"So how have things been here at the Brandenham?"
"Same old, same old. Helen's been busy planning her wedding with Kayla. Personally, I wish she'd spend more time with me, but..." Bitsy shrugged. "...what can you do? Anyway, I've had Classi keep me company when Helen's not here. She's not Helen, but then no one can be Helen."
"Okay..." Butters stretched in his seat a bit. "So where's Helen right now?"
"Down at the bar fetching me a mint julep. She should be back in a minute."
"Ah, okay." Pause. "I must say, you must be very lucky to have her around."
"As lucky as she is to have Kayla around."
"I can definitely see that."
At that moment, Helen came back into the room with Bitsy's mint julep. She held out the drink to her, and Bitsy quickly grabbed the drink without even glancing at her.
Butters turned around to see Helen standing right there. "Oh, hey, Helen! Bitsy and I were just talking about you. Gee whiz, I bet you can't wait to get married soon!"
"Mm-hmm," Helen could only reply. "I'm very happy. You seem pretty jovial yourself."
"Yeah, I'm so close to becoming mayor that I can almost taste it."
"Mm-hmm."
Suddenly, the phone began to ring.
Helen picked it up and held it out for Bitsy to grab. "Phone for you."
Bitsy didn't even make an effort to grab the phone. A few seconds went by before Bitsy signaled at Helen to bring the phone to her ears.
Helen could only huff. "Oh, it must be one of those days."
"Oh, uh..." Butters just sat there, unsure what to do. "Is this a private call Bitsy has to take?"
"Yeah, it is," Helen replied. "Maybe you should leave her alone for a minute while she talks."
Butters nodded. "Oh... okay."
Butters got up out of his seat and slowly started backing out of Bitsy's office until he was no longer in view. Once Bitsy was sure she couldn't see him anymore, she started speaking into the phone.
"Hello?" Bitsy spoke up. "Who is this? Oh, hello, Nathan!" Bitsy's voice shot up by an octave. "It's good to hear from you! How are things going?" Bitsy started nodding as she heard Nathan say something, only to immediately spit out her mint julep and almost startle Helen into dropping the phone onto the floor before wrenching the thing out of her hands. "WHAT?! You can't do that to me! Do you know who I am?!"
Helen could only stand there, wide-eyed, and watch Bitsy's side of the phone conversation while the latter screamed and yelled into the receiver with a fire in her eyes that actually made her look somewhat intimidating.
Eventually, after what seemed like hours, Bitsy concluded the conversation with, "You fucking Down Syndrome piece of shit, do me a favor and go fuck yourself!" After getting that out of the way, Bitsy proceeded to slam the phone into the receiver.
Helen continued to stare at her boss, still wide-eyed, while Bitsy seethed in her seat.
"Mind if I ask what just happened?" Helen asked, intimidated by the vibes Bitsy was giving off.
Bitsy could only ground out, "Nathan and Mimsy have gone rogue."
"They've what?"
"You heard me. I don't want to repeat myself."
Suddenly, Butters came back into the room. "Can we continue with our talk, please?"
"Yeah, go ahead," Helen replied. "I'm sure Bitsy will want to take her mind off... things right now."
Butters nodded. "Okay." He proceeded to sit back down across from Bitsy. "So... about my campaign promises."
Bitsy was still fuming from the phone call, but tried to restrain herself. "Yes, Mr. Stotch? What about them?"
"You wanna hear them?"
"Yes, whatever, just get it over with."
"Well, not only do I hope to make this city much nicer than ever; I also hope to make it more diverse than it has ever been. Everyone will be welcome here: men, women, non-binary people, white people, Black people, Indigenous Americans-"
Bitsy sent him off with the wave of her hand. "Alright, I've heard enough. Good-bye."
"W-Wait a minute, Miss Brandenham! Don't you want to hear-?"
"No, I got the idea. Bye."
"But Miss Brandenham-!"
Helen chimed in. "This meeting is over. You got your point across. Bye."
Butters finally got the hint and left. Once he was gone, Bitsy and Helen resumed their private conversation.
"So... uh," Helen began to speak. "Did Nathan explain why he and Mimsy went rogue?"
"Maybe, but I wasn't paying that close attention," Bitsy replied. "Still, I can't believe they'd done that to me, and after everything I did for them! First Kayla convinces Dimitry to back out of the Central Park deal, and now she convinces Nathan and Mimsy to do the same?!"
"Uh, Bitsy, I don't think that's why-"
Bitsy huffed. "Ooh, I'm so going to make her pay for this! I don't care how. I just want to see her sabotage plan blow up in her face!"
"Wait..." Helen gulped. "You're not seriously considering what I think you're considering, are you?"
"You know what? You're probably right. I'll wait until the end to go after Kayla."
"I swear to God, if you hurt Kayla, I'll-!"
"You'll what?" Pause. "That's what I thought."
Helen wasn't sure what was going to happen with Kayla if she tried to fight back. One thing was for certain, though: if Bitsy were to have her way, things would end badly.
