Master Control

Chapter 65

*thumpthumpthumpthump*

Fingers thrummed against the polished wooden counter, drumming out the same rhythm to fill the drifting silence. A count of four in rapid succession, stopping just before the fifth beat and repeating. A small scattered crowd of spectators tried to tune it out, wanting to focus on their own distractions, but no one spoke up.

*thumpthumpthumpthump*

No one dared disturb someone who was willing to silence them for good. He just did that to the last person who tried to belittle him. Kurogiri arrived with a mop and a bucket, cleaning the red puddle around the metal beam laying on his well maintained floors. He was the only one Tomura trusted enough to allow to move directly behind him.

*thumpthumpthumpthump*

After the events of Hosu, Tomura used one of the contacts that his teacher had often used in finding all sorts of characters. Under the guise of Stain's approval, he managed to get a decent following to work with. A pyromaniac covered in burns, a multi personality psycho, a stage magician, a serial killer on steroids, a kid cosplaying as a trench soldier, a cannibal strapped in the corner, and what was left of someone in drag.

*thumpthumpthumpthump*

"Can I at least get a drink?" Muscular groaned out, Tomura pausing his fingers mid air. The others watched closely to see how their ring leader might react.

"Don't see why not."

Mustard and Spinner released their breath, while Dabi turned back towards the television. The showman, Mr. Compress took a chance and posed the question that many had on their minds. "We don't doubt you have great ambitions, but I think I speak for all of us how we'd like to at least know our roles."

The face of the League of Villains spun around in his stool, actually addressing his crowd with full sincerity. "Well, I guess I do need to get a good idea of your stats. I intend to split the party in two groups. Those with high damage rates, and stealth builds."

Dabi took another look around the room, noting that just about all of them were more fighters than hiders. "Does the lizard have camouflage?"

"No." Spinner relayed, polishing his heavy and jagged blade. "But once Himiko shows up, I bet we can convince her Stain's cause is a noble one. She already has a distaste for heroics."

"The gamer?" Mustard spat with some disgust in his gas mask, now needing to take it off to clean it. "She's a UA student, we can't trust her."

"Trust won't be an issue." Tomura relayed as he turned over to his portaling ally. "The doc managed to make the sample work right?"

"That's correct."

"I only shook her hand." Spinner replied, unsure of what they could've gotten from his hand after his meeting with her.

Mr. Compress had a sudden thought, believing he made the connection. "Can you really make a nomu from that little DNA?"

"More monsters? You think we can't handle this?!" Twice seemed angry, before switching to a chipper mood. "Let's make more of them!"

"No." The young man covered in hands shook his head in amusement before reaching into his pocket before fetching a small remote like device. "But we had enough to let our little microscopic friends know what they're going to be working with."

Sliding off his rear, Tomura briefly left them to go into his room and fetch a large binder. He brought it back, motioning them all to gather around a round table as he opened it up and began passing them around.

"Are these-" Mustard lifted up one of the pages. "-character sheets?"

"I knew it." Muscular scoffed as he was about to storm out of the place. "This is just an angsty nerd club."

"Hold on." Dabi stopped him, picking up one particular sheet with a familiar name and face plastered on it. "These are based on real people."

"That's right." Tomura held up one of the sheets, under the guise of just being some nerdy hobby of writing down heroes and UA students down to categorize their strengths and weaknesses for a game that had a much more sinister purpose. "I thought this might make things easier to understand."

"We're going after those kids again?" Twice noted one of the piles in worry, before laughing maniacally. "SCREW THOSE BRATS! LET'S KILL EM!"

"I'm so down!" Muscular grinned madly, sifting through the papers to start selecting his targets.

With a short tap, Tomura got their attention as he had short stack with a couple different sketches on it. "I don't care who or how many we kill, but these ones are different."

"What?" Mr. Compress questioned as he got a look at the three pages, noting that they all had the same last name. One of the characters, had two different sketches on it but they both had the same horn with only different colored hair and eyes that resembled another of the children. "Did this family in particular do something to piss you off?"

"Why is Himiko on this?" Spinner quickly noted the blonde girl's presence in the bunch.

"That kid!" Mustard restrained himself from swiping the final one, which had more question marks than actual stat numbers. "That quirkless little shit who cheated his way to the top of the sports festival!"

Holding up the three pages, Tomura made sure each of them were paying close attention, including Moonfish who was still restrained to his corner of the room. "I managed to have enough skill points in interrogation to get Overhaul to give us some very critical information about the Midoriya's, opening up a quest line that will speedrun us to the end of the campaign. These are top priority, no kill, capture only. But do NOT underestimate them. If we pull off the first part of our plan, we won't have to worry about gamer."

"Uh huh." Folding his arms, Dabi began to doubt the whole 'don't underestimate the quirkless kid.' "What's freckle face going to do? Piss at us?"

A cold rage temporarily overtook Tomura as his fist clenched around the pages. They saw it was a touchy subject, and waited for their leader to explain what was special about this kid.

"He has a damn admin item." The cracked lips around his face growled. "If you get too close, he'll delete your quirk."

"Really?" Mr. Compress first asked in doubt, then worried over how Tomura was certain of this fact.

"Really?" Twice asked as well, actually sounding hopeful over the idea but then shivered in a sudden twist in fear.

"I've got a plan for each of them." The leader of the League of Villains uttered as he straightened the widespread collection of students and several heroes alike. Anyone that they were planning to run into and anyone that could show up, but his focus was on the three that weren't even in a hero program. "But, this girl is our end goal."

He placed his one pale finger, right over the image of Eri Midoriya.

The day had finally arrived, the day that she kept an eye on for so long, one that might not arrive but now everything aligned. It was inevitable, it was fixed in time, no matter what anyone did to try to change it the outcome would be the same.

Eri would be the best damn flower girl.

Brushing her hand against her pristine yellow dress and adjusting the rosie flower crown atop of her head, she wished she remembered to get her hair redyed. The white roots were almost an inch and a half long, and the green was starting to fade out. Oh well, she had already stopped wearing her colored contacts a while ago. Maybe she could let her old hair grow out again?

"Pst." Whispering across the hallway, Izuku was standing there in a simple black suit with a deep crimson bowtie. His hair was shorter and brushed over to one side with no curls along the side of his head, the boy having gone to a professional to help him with his unruly head. In his arms, was a pillow carrying the two simple metal bands. "You ok?"

With a mock huff, Eri glanced around the pristine venue building. "They should have picked the beach."

"We live on a beach now." Her brother kept his voice to an amused whisper. "Isn't that enough?"

"No." The girl held back from stomping her foot. "Beach weddings are the best weddings. You better have one."

"I think it's too early to think about marriage." Izuku smiled, fighting the thought about seeing Pony in white.

The music started, both of them snapping back to attention as Eri psyched herself up. She positioned herself in front of the large double doors, holding the basket tightly as she waited for her cue. Staring up ahead and down the aisle, she could see her soon to be Dad standing nervously.

He looked like his injuries just vanished for the day, a stiff brace around his leg keeping him upright and a realistic glass eye. Add a touch of makeup around it, and not even his scars could distract from the occasion.

Behind him was a line of some people she never met, but no one could look past the fact that All Might himself was made the best man and doing his best not to be the center of attention with the many visiting family and friends. On the other side amongst the bridesmaids were Himiko, Mrs. Kirishima, and a couple other adults Eri had probably heard her adoptive mother speak of.

It might have been a small crowd compared to other weddings, given how short notice it was but the turn out was much more than Eri predicted for the fact that they had only gotten engaged two weeks ago.

A single knock alerted her, Eri moving down the aisle and grabbing a handful of petals to toss along the ground. Oh she wished she could turn around right now as the doors behind began to open. Doing her best not to rush her job, Eri kept her pace until she could finally stand to the side to get a look at her mother.

She would remember this for the rest of her life.

After a reverent ceremony, which exploded into cheers and applause at the end, the crowd was ushered to where a large cluster of food was waiting for them. Izuku stood in line, feeling a little famished himself and did a short double take when he saw who was helping manage the food.

"Thin Man?"

"Good afternoon." The man greeted warmly, stretching out his arms to refill the refreshments. "Cueball offered that our agency could provide catering services."

"I didn't know you guys did that."

"Neither did I." He mentioned with a bit of reluctance. Still he smiled, tucking away his feelings about being volunteered for something he wasn't aware of until last minute. "Did you get a, babysitter?"

Izuku tucked his sleeve up, letting the omnitrix be seen. "No need."

Thin Man shook his head, still getting over the absurdity of everything he had been let in on. "I trust you know what you're doing."

"Thanks. Where is Cueball by the way?"

"In the kitchen."

*CRASH*

"SON OF A BASTARD!"

They both glanced back to where the rest of the food was being made, Cueball's yelling resounding amongst the clanging metal pots and pans.

"I should check on that." Thin Man stretched taller to help manage everything. "Have a good day."

"You too." Izuku finished filling his plate, looking for somewhere to sit. His first thought was to sit and congratulate his mother, but it looked like she and Naomasa, or Dad, were still talking to people. Every two minutes their attention was taken by someone else who wanted to offer their congratulations. He hoped the newly weds would at least have some time to eat.

Still, his mom never got to see her blood family often and had a lot of catching up to do. He had vague memories when he was younger, but by the time he was five he never really saw them anymore. Eri and Himiko were practically strangers to them, so Izuku found where they were sitting and quickly went over to sit with them.

"About time." Himiko shoved another cupcake into her mouth. "I thought you were going to go over and sit with your friend's family."

"His table looks full." Sitting down and adjusting his suit pants, Izuku slid himself forward and watched his well pressed sleeves so they didn't touch his plate. "Sorry Shoto couldn't come."

"Eh." She didn't seem bothered, but she still checked her phone to text the mentioned boy. "He's not really that close to the family so maybe it would be weird if he showed up."

"He's close to you." Eri tried to tease, Himiko still unfazed by their comments.

"I find him fun at times, but I'm keeping him at arm's length."

"How come?" Izuku worried over her, wondering if she didn't feel completely comfortable with him.

"He's got to get over his puppy love." The shapeshifter began to explain, shifting her hand into a little Himiko to continue eating as she talked. "The guy is borderline stalker, and while it's fun to jerk him around by the leash he happily handed over it won't last. I don't want a pet, I want a person."

Looking back, Shoto did have a lot of attachments to his sister. She always seemed happy to play along with it, except for a couple of tense moments where she pretty much threatened him going too far. Though he never really thought about what kind of guy Himiko would want to be with, or liked.

"Do you like him?" Izuku found himself asking, trying to get to the heart of it.

"I don't really know." Himiko shrugged as little her dived into the fruit jello. "Sort of? But not much more than how I feel about the rest of our friends. I think I'm just flattered over how flustered I can get him from the smallest things. I mean, before when I knew I liked someone I wanted to stab them and spill out their blood to lap up off their shredded skin."

Yeah, probably not a good indicator on whether she liked someone or not.

"Yo Mibroiyas." Eijiro came walking over, quickly shuffling himself into one of the empty seats. "Congrats!"

"What did you say?" Eri backtracked his words.

"Never." Himiko flatly stared at the rock head. "I mean never, call us 'Mi-bro-iyas' again."

"Was it that bad?" Eijiro glanced over to his best friend, who didn't really have an opinion.

"I thought it was clever. You made bro fit in it and made it sound like you were saying 'my bros'."

"Glad someone liked it." The boy chuckled before pulling out his phone to show them. "Hey, but we got texts from class Pres about the plans for the summer training camp. We'll be gone for a couple of weeks. Wanted to know if you were going to come."

The attention was shifted to Izuku, who was confused as to why they singled him out. "Me?"

"Well, yeah." Eijiro put his phone away. "You're pretty much part of our class."

"I was there for my business course assignment." Izuku explained. "I haven't been in One A for a while now. Maybe next year I'll have a similar task but I think I'm going to be pretty busy this-"

That's when Izuku's omnitrix began ringing, the boy having connected it to his phone long ago but he finally set different tones to different calls. Providence was calling, but it wasn't the loud emergency alert.

Pulling out his phone and holding it close to his ear, he answered. "Hello?"

"Midoriya." Eraserhead's raspy voice replied on the other side. "Or is it Tsukauchi now?"

"We uh, haven't really talked about that. What's going on?"

"It concerns your classmates. Don't tell them but the purpose of the camp will be to strengthen their quirks, so I wanted your expertise on how to actually strengthen their alien aspects. You also tend to have good insight on quirks in general. Principal Nezu has also requested the other recently altered teachers to participate, alongside Ingenium who will be popping in every now and then."

Wow, good timing. "I can help."

"Good. And since you'll be serving as an advisor for UA and members of Providence, you'll receive payment from both."

"...I'm getting paid?" That caught the attention of the rest of his table, everyone suddenly trying to listen in.

"Yes. Have you not received your paychecks yet?"

"I have an income?" Izuku tried to keep his voice down as Himiko was stretching her neck to try and crowd his shoulder.

"Yes, but clearly you haven't gotten any of it yet. I'll have to have a little talk to our accounting department."

Shoving Himiko away before she was tempted to put her tongue in his ear, Izuku tried to keep the conversation more private. "Doesn't Principal Nezu handle these?"

"Mostly larger projects and signing off on our checks. But we have someone that actually handles the process, or they should have been. Don't worry, we'll get it sorted soon. I'd tell you to pack but you don't really need to do you? Just stuff a bag with pillows or something to not raise suspicions."

"Yes sir."

"But for now, enjoy the occasion." He hung up before he could reply, Izuku left with questioning gazes about the details of the call. Though there was one other who had been listening in the whole time.

"Glad you'll be joining us."

Nearly having a heart attack and falling out of his seat, Reiko was seated right next to Izuku. She even wore an outfit for the occasion, not that anyone saw her until now.

"Wow." Himiko tossed a buttered roll at the girl, who let it phase right through her. "Guess I can't complain about Shoto being a stalker."

Realizing he was just getting used to the antics, Eijiro moved on. "So, what was that about?"

Adjusting his bowtie to let him breathe a little easier, Izuku finally let them in on the news. "Looks like I'll be joining you guys after all."

Eijiro immediately pulled him into a side hug, some friendly slapping, and forgetting he's harder than diamonds the whole time. "That's great man! Knew you were stuck with us!"

*Slapslap* Eri's hand against Himiko's arm made it ripple, the blonde looking to what got Eri all excited.

"Look!" She pointed over to All Might, who was currently giving his personal congratulations to the newlyweds. But she wasn't pointing at the number one hero himself, instead the little old man wearing a tweed suit and keeping himself upright on a cane. "It's our old neighbor!"

"Literally." Himiko added. "Mr. who?"

"Mr. Torino." Izuku answered, recalling how many times he had to keep Himiko and him from shouting matches in their other home. "I saw him on Naomasa's side of the guests. He looks…"

"Frail?" Eijiro suggested.

"Weak?" Himiko guessed.

"Sad?" Eri observed.

"Short?" Reiko bluntly stated.

"Lonely." Izuku recognized the dissociation. Yes, he might be visiting those close to him, but his heart didn't seem in it anymore. Something happened to the man to keep him from fully engaging emotionally with others. It became more apparent the longer Mr. Torino looked between his mother and new father.

Did he used to have someone special to him?

His life wasn't normal, he knew that. It had been one thing after another, between villains, aliens, heroes, even going to space! But in the end, no matter what he faced it was still nowhere comparable to dealing with his mother.

Sitting across from him at the kitchen table, his mom made sure she had his full attention.

"Kota." She reached forward to grasp his hand. "I know things have been, odd ever since you found that watch. That's why we gave you some space, and let you use it away from campgrounds."

Glancing behind the woman, were the Wild Wild Pussy Cats in their more relaxed clothing. Yeah, they were all panicked and screaming for answers once he managed to get back, but before he could even think to come up with something to make sense of everything that happened they just backed off.

Ok, they were still cautious and they laid down some basic rules but the only change was that if anything dangerous happened again he would call them immediately. Kota bet that Shiretoko, aka Ragdoll, was always keeping an active eye on him.

Now the inevitable had arrived, he had to give some response, not that he really knew much, or what they were willing to believe.

"Um." Scratching his arm near the watch, the boy glanced between the adults that had been looking after him. "Well….what's up?"

What's up?! He knew what was up because he always had to look up to talk to them!

Pixie Bob, Ryuko Tsuchikawa, shook her head over Kota's question of the year. "Ha, why don't we start with what exactly it is."

"Um, uh." Glancing at the device stuck to him, Kota didn't have a lot to share. "I really don't know, but when that big shark guy showed up he kept calling it the 'omnitrix'."

"I remember that." Yawara Chatora, Tiger said as his mind relived the moment. "Do you think he'll be back?"

The silent explosion flashed across Kota's memory, the boy shaking his head. "No, no way him or any of those guys will show up again."

His mother immediately wanted to question how certain he was, but a grounding hand from Shino Sosaki, Mandalay, put that on pause.

"Kota?" His aunt began. "Where were you taken?"

Oh boy, here's where things got really complicated. Fearing the backlash from outright saying it, Kota lifted his hand and pointed straight up.

None of them shouted, but Pixie Bob did groan as she slipped some cash towards Ragdoll.

"We believe you." Mrs. Waterhose assured Kota soon after, even if she seemed hesitant to accept it. "Is that where the omnitrix came from?"

"It crashed here, and this one furry guy kept saying it was his but…we don't have to worry about him anymore." That was his answer, and as vague and ominous as it was all it did was reenforce the fact that no one was looking for it.

"Phew." Wiping her brow, Ragdoll decided to turn around and look for a drink. "Well, guess we're in the clear then."

"Not exactly." Mandalay mentioned, alerting the rest and even the boy. "This omnitrix, it has the same symbol as that team of new heroes that got approved."

"That's right." Tiger agreed with a nod. "The one that Frozen Mothman, erm, Bigchill is a part of."

Upon hearing the name, Kota rotated the dial of the omnitrix until the silhouette of that very same person rested on the faceplate. He met his kid, which was an alien. Bigchill was an alien, and if he had that same symbol with the rest of his team…

"Honey?" Sitting beside her son, Mrs. Waterhose gently rubbed his shoulder as she glanced to what he was staring at. "Wait, you're that guy?"

"No!" Kota immediately corrected, stopping anyone from getting the wrong idea. "But, when I met that boy, I think it copied him. It doesn't do that with people so…"

"You're saying that was an alien?" Tiger asked on his behalf, Kota nodding in confirmation.

"Team?" Ragdoll piped up, starting to notice some patterns. If the omnitrix let Kota become a bunch of different aliens that all had the same symbol, then what about the other heavy mutant heroes all wearing an hourglass on their person? "You don't think-"

"There's another omnitrix out there." Mandalay answered, certain of the fact.

Was that a good thing? A bad thing? Kota wasn't very sure about that. They probably knew a lot more than him about it, and maybe they could answer some of his questions about it too. If he managed to meet them, would they let him keep the watch?

He continued to fiddle with it, scrolling through his several transformations as he questioned what else he didn't know. He didn't know what he didn't know. When the dial landed on the last more ghostly being, Kota felt he needed to know why he can't remember much when he turned into that alien.

Or why it freaked him out more than the others.

Summer time luh-uh-ovin, lovin in the summer time.

We're moving along, things we've been building up for several arcs now are coming together. From Tomura's more cautious planning ever since the USJ, the information he got from Overhaul, some spooky specters, and the fate of two omnitrix devices in the same universe/planet/country.

With how many characters are going to be involved, I'm going to have to split them up and do this in multiple parts. Of course, Izuku and Kota will get the spotlight for their own arc but I'll have to do some initial meet and greet with all the other classmates.

It's going to be a lot, and while I am going to slim down some unnecessary stuff. BUT I still want to put in some little moments with class A, and what happens when class B interacts with them.

SO, what interactions, questions, characters, do you want to see?

DigglettDigglett: If you're referring to how Nezu not send any back up to I-island to support Izuku, keep in mind all of their back up had quirks, which there was a deadly cloud of nanites that specifically targeted those with quirks. Any person he sent over to help would have just turned into another EVO, Izuku was immune because he didn't have a quirk.

Thunder Dragon: Do you actually read the replies?

Omni-Trickery: Izuku is still part of the business course, but it's summer so there's no classes to attend.

Fire turtle: I have already put in some slice of life for the teachers, and the final exam did have some student reactions, but maybe I could feature a couple more moments during the summer training arc.
