Master Control
Chapter 67
Taking his first step out of the car, Izuku was greeted by a cool summer breeze flowing through the trees. Despite the warm sun running along his face, out here in the woods it felt like spring. As his teachers/coworkers began stretching their legs he eyed the large cabin, that not only served as a get away but as a mountain rescue base for the Wild Wild Pussy Cats.
To think they turned a hot spring resort into a hero operation.
Power Loader was already opening up the trunk, loading the luggage and balancing the several boxes of supplies with his alien enhanced physique.
"Yo my man!" Present Mic came up next to the hero. "You want any help?"
"I got this." The excavation hero confidently said, enjoying a chance to show off.
"Yeah." Midnight leaned against the car door, eyeing his continued choice to never wear a shirt. "He sure does."
Turning away from how Power Loader made his pecs dance in response, Izuku spotted two of the Wild Wild Pussy Cats coming out to greet them. They seemed unsure at first, eyeing the newcomers as they slowly came forward.
"You're not cosplayers right?" Mandalay called out with Tiger beside her.
"We're the real deal yo!" Present Mic stepped up with his vibin' attitude. "Told you we got a new look!"
"There's a difference between a new costume." Tiger then pointed over to Power Loader's significantly larger body. "And a new hero."
"It's a good change though." Midnight agreed, still ogling the man as he came forward with their stuff. "Big change."
"I'll say." Mandalay chuckled as she pointed out Midnight's back. "Are those, real?"
Twitching her fairy like wings in response, the woman gave a short hop and hovered around them. "Didn't Nezu give you a heads up about the quirk awakening training?"
"Yes." Tiger recalled that certain email, alongside keeping updated on UA news and how people have taken notice of students and teachers alike developing significantly new aspects to their quirks. "I thought it was an exaggeration but damn. You sure Nezu isn't slipping quirk steroids into your food?"
"Trust me." Power Loader came up, ready to bring everything inside and giving some more emphasis to his arms hauling the stuff around. "It's aaaalll genetic."
That's when the attention shifted to Izuku, Mandalay giving a welcoming smile. This time, it was easy to fight off his usual explosion of his heroic knowledge when he got to meet heroes. Given the fact that he couldn't get out of his head his last interaction with them, pretending to be a villain, taunting them. He wanted to give a better impression this time. "And you must be Midoriya, the quirkless boy who won the sports festival."
"It's awesome to meet you and your team." Though it was a lot more luck than skill that got him the gold medal. "Thank you for having us."
"It's our pleasure! There's a room ready that you can use or if you want you can room with the students. Though be warned, they're going to be on a much more chaotic schedule and sleeping in bunks."
He didn't mind a more cramped space, but if he needed to go home for the evening it would probably be better to have his own room to come back to. "Thank you! I look forward to working with you."
"Don't worry." Tiger assured with his intimidating demeanor as he began to escort Izuku towards the retreat. "You'll have plenty of work."
"Stop that." Mandalay gave a short pat to her teammate's arm before readdressing Izuku as they continued walking. "But yeah, Nezu gave us a rundown of how you've helped a lot of class A before in figuring out new aspects to their quirks. When you're not busy with that we'd appreciate help with some chores around the place since a lot of us will be occupied with-"
She froze, Mandalay, one of the cool confident heroes that Izuku admired stopped in place, her wide eyes locked onto the boy. Izuku's anxiety began to knew at him, checking to see if there was a spider or a snake that managed to find its way onto him. "What?!"
"W-where did you get that watch?"
That snapped everyone's attention over to them, Izuku trying to think why she would have such a strong reaction to the device on his wrist. The omnitrix? Oh SHIT she must have recognized the symbol when he was transformed into a villain.
"It's uh, my PQE." Izuku quickly explained, doing his best to play it off. "It's been a part of me since I was ten."
"Oh." She muttered, her eyes still glued to the green hourglass. "So, it's just that? A PQE?"
"Y-yeah." It was the story, one he's told many times but why does it seem like she isn't buying it? "Nothing more."
His luck managed to summon a distraction, one of the Wild WIld Pussy Cat vehicles pulling in with a bus right behind it. Izuku wanted the relief of seeing his friends rushing out and saving him. But it was empty, only Eraserhead sliding down from the driver seat and ignoring his plea for help. That's not where the distraction came from though, that arrived in the form of Pixie-Bob spotting the shirtless hero who was lifting all of their stuff over his head.
"HUNKALICIOUS! Aren't you a cut of warm marble?"
He could have gone his whole life never hearing those words.
"Hey!" Ragdoll immediately warned the woman, currently daring to run her fingers up and down the man's chest. "Don't let up otherwise those kids will get here before we can turn on the stove!"
Completely ignoring her teammate, Pixie-Bob only became more daring. "Why don't we make a couple more?"
Was it too late to go back home?
A few hours later, and a few hundred dirt punching bags scattered across the forest ground, the students of class A managed to make it to their destination. If they had been doing it all day, they would have arrived sweaty, tired, with no energy left. But with a little bit of team work and some tweaks to a couple of their genetics, they managed to arrive to a hastily prepared feast.
When Midnight and Pixie-Bob weren't making open passes towards Power Loader, one just being generally flirty while the other was outright down BAD, the teachers of UA and the Wild Wild Pussy Cats managed to make enough to satisfy the appetite of several hungry teens. Izuku? He was sent off to make sure the cabins and the spa that the students would be staying in were clean and stocked with all the essentials.
Now he could have just used one of his aliens to simply get the work done faster, but given not everyone in class A or the Wild Wild Pussy Cats were aware of that he had to do it with his own quirkless hands. Still, he got done in time to join the rest of his friends as they chowed down.
"You were thrown how far?!" Izuku leaned forward towards Eijiro, as they retold their many encounters fighting in the woods.
"At least two kilometers!" His rockheaded friend just laughed it off. "Still not a scratch!"
"At least Ochaco caught you the second time." Mina reminded the boy. "Seriously, things got intense towards the end. You should have seen what Momo did!"
"What did she do?" Izuku looked over to the girl in question, who had a much larger plate and her own elegant silverware set she brought from home.
"Necessary force." Was all she said.
"She turned into a walking tank!" Ojiro answered, pulling out his phone to show the makeshift military exosuit covered in guns. "Seriously, I don't know who was packing more firepower back there. Bakugo or her."
"It was awesome!" Denki agreed. "She even let me take over for a bit since the suit limited what she could make after she put it on. I hope I get to keep it."
"Yeah." Kyoka rolled her eyes. "Like you need a mech suit."
"I'm a walking battery! I don't have to worry about fuel and I could always split off if I need to."
"Oh no." Toru gasped in mock shock. "He's actually making sense."
In the midst of catching up, Mina suddenly beamed as she shot up to wave over to a familiar face. "Hey! Mrs. Waterhose! I didn't know you were here!"
Said woman was helping grab dirty cooking dishes, pausing to come say hello. "It's good to see you again Ashido. Have you managed to increase your pressure?"
"Not enough to fly, but I can make a mean stream. But what are you doing here?! Did you bring your son?"
"We came out to get away from all of the chaos, from dealing with that radioactive villain and our house getting destroyed in that big attack, we needed some space. Kota's relaxing inside but I'll see if I can get him to say hi."
Izuku couldn't help but glance at the technical brace around her legs, remembering the incident that had crippled the hero. He had seen it on television the moment she lost her husband, he had shown up too late at the reactor but barely in time to help save her life, and he was in that fight that demolished so much of Japan.
This woman had been through so much, she deserved a break.
"Let me help with that." Izuku stood up, taking half of the load in her arms before she could protest.
"Oh, thanks." She accepted his kindness, before the voice of Mandalay suddenly entered her mind.
'I need you to meet me in the office as soon as you get a chance. Don't make it obvious.
"Actually, would you mind taking the rest of this to the kitchen? I need to take care of something."
"I'll get them cleaned up."
"Thanks." As she handed the rest off, a subtle gleam of metal caught her eye and the faintest of glows under his sleeve. No, must have just been a hero themed watch.
Mrs. Waterhose began making her way into the building, navigating her way to the hero team's office. Along the way, she saw the other members of the Wild Wild Pussy Cats were summoned.
Pixie-Bob and Ragdoll seemed just as unsure as she was, but Tiger had a quicker pace than the rest of them.
"Do you know what this is about?" Ragdoll whispered over to him, who only seemed to move even faster.
"I know we know too little."
"Does it have to be now though?" Pixie-Bob whined. "I think I can actually hook the hunk."
"You're reeling too hard too fast." Ragdoll informed the desperate heroine. "You keep pulling the way you are now you're gonna rip the hook out and he'll never bite again."
"Oh please don't tell me you're going through another fishing metaphor phase."
"She's right though." Mrs. Waterhose added, being the only one who actually got married her words over romance had more weight. It was enough to weigh on the blonde's mind to where it sank further in than the dirty thoughts.
"Fine." Actually wanting a chance to have something more than a shallow night, Pixie-Bob decided not to try to get him into her room tonight.
Once they arrived, Tiger swiftly twisted the handle and brought the heroines into the room. Mandalay was standing behind the desk, clicking away on the computer frantically as the printer kept running.
"What have you got for us?" The only man in the room folded his arms, waiting for the briefing by their leader.
Stepping around the desk and grabbing the various photos printed off, Mandalay began passing out the various photos. All of the new mutation heroes that the new government agency Providence had promoted.
There were also some photos of Izuku from the sports festival, zoomed in on his wrist.
"We don't know a whole lot." Mandalay began in all seriousness. "But all of us agree that we had suspicions about a second omnitrix given this hero team. Midoriya, before they even appeared, has been wearing a similar watch. Now there does seem to be a record of a PQE, but not much. Providence only recently began, and barely anyone knows anything about it other than it was formed to combat the most dangerous of villains."
"Wait." Glancing up from the various stacks that were freshly made, Mrs. Waterhose could barely see the connections. "How can we really be sure he's the one that turns into all those aliens? Or even if they are?"
"There's nothing solid here." Ragdoll agreed as she flipped through the many papers. "It's enough to raise suspicions, but we need something more to launch an investigation."
"If this is aliens." Pixie-Bob set her stack down onto a shelf. "Then how are we supposed to do a case like this?"
"Who else will?" Tiger proposed, already ready to take on the task. "If he is turning into these heroes, is he even aware that these are aliens?"
"There's too many unknowns." Mandalay admitted to the team. "But there's too many coincidences as well. Not long after the people, alien or mutation quirks found Kota and took him all of a sudden we have UA send an email to set up a summer training camp. Who do they send with their staff? A business course student, who doesn't have any quirk theory degree to come help out, who just happens to have the only other watch similar to Kota's, and has been working closely with the class and teachers whose quirks keep changing."
"You think they're here for Kota." She finally said it, the dangerous thought that's been bubbling in Mandalay's mind the moment she met Midoriya.
With a single nod to confirm the mother's worries, Mandalay started to form the bare basics of a plan. "We can't let them know we're onto whatever they might be planning, so we keep to the schedule we already made. Ragdoll, I want a very close eye on Kota. Let's find some long sleeves he can wear or even have him wear a sling to hide the omnitrix. Waterhose, I want you to see if you can get any information out of the girl that intershiped with you. She seems close to Midoriya and might know something to confirm our suspicions. Tiger and Pixie-Bob, I want you to observe the other heroes' to see if they have another objective."
Within the steaming springs that relaxed every muscle, Izuku sank further until his face was just barely above its surface. This was great, Kyoka did a good job at making these. Plus there was a convenient path from each of the guest cabins to the springs.
"This is nice." Spoke Shoji from one of his many arms.
"Indeed." The wet feathered boy Tokoyami concurred.
"Must be nice!" Denki stated from outside of the pool, sitting on a slab of warm stone with only a small personal bucket to soak his feet in.
"That would be a massive safety hazard." Tenya reminded the boy. "I would be more inclined to let you join us if you demonstrated more restraint with your static."
'Not my fault I have an electric personality!"
"All of you, disappoint me." Mineta's shorter voice moaned as he tried to wash away the depression. "None of you even care about how the girls' springs aren't even next to us."
"You're the only one who cares enough to complain." Shoto announced, sitting in his own little corner to not accidentally disturb the water temperature around the others.
Izuku found himself fiddling with the omnitrix, just going over some basic functions and reviewing over some of his playlists. As he counted the aliens in his watch, the back of his mind did another count until it noticed someone was missing. "Is Bakugo not coming?"
"Nah." Eijiro spoke up next to him. "I asked but he said he was going on a walk first."
"Huh, alright."
No one was too concerned about Bakugo, one of the strongest and arguably the most independent of class A with only Shoto rivaling him. In fact, besides short moments where Bakugo unleashed a verbal assault he was often as quiet as Shoto. His attitude had shifted a lot, so much that Izuku wasn't sure if he recognized him anymore.
Their last talk could have gone better, and Izuku never really explained anything. What was going through his mind?
"I bet he's going to take a peek at the girls." Mineta uttered in jealousy, before realizing there was nothing stopping him from doing the same. Quickly hopping out, he immediately rushed to go dry himself off. "I'M GOING ON A WALK TOO!"
*THWIP*
"OUCH!"
A well placed webshot restrained Mineta's feet to the ground, tripping him before he could escape.
"You're welcome." Ojiro lowered his tail back into the water, everyone starting to get back into relaxing once again.
'Alien Lifeform Detected.'
Aaaaand there went Izuku's relaxing evening. Leaving now? Right after what Mineta said? He had to swallow his pride and accept his responsibility.
"I've got to go." Izuku began to get up, turning away before he could see the disappointed gazes that were surely watching him off.
"You'll stop me but not him?!" Mineta cried out from his soul as Izuku quickly walked by him. "WHY?!"
"Midoriya has never betrayed our trust." Tenya explained, accidentally splashing the water around him as he chopped on habit.
"He also doesn't seem like that kind of guy." Ojiro mentioned while kicking up his feet.
"He isn't." Eijiro answered proudly on behalf of his friend, but did worry given the urgency of his departure. Well, not like it wasn't something Izuku couldn't handle. If it was a real emergency he would have ran out.
"Shoji, I've been meaning to ask you something." Denki spoke up from his perch, getting the boy's attention and turning the topic to something else. "How come you wear a mask all the time?"
He waited a while, a long while to go outside. With all of those hero students running around and a bunch of strange adults (not to mention some of them acting gross) Kota finally saw all of them shuffle off from eating to go take a dip in the springs.
Finally! As much as he liked his games they could never match the feeling of turning into a whole different person, well alien. Kicking his feet against the dirt and jumping up to slap a branch above him, Kota decided he had gotten enough distance from everyone else.
'Kota?!' Mandalay's panicked voice rang in his head. 'Are you ok? Ragdoll noticed you've been walking pretty far from camp.'
Ugh, he waited all day to go alien just let him have at least half an hour.
Patting his pockets, Kota tried to find the basic phone he was given. After finding each of his pockets vacant, Kota groaned as he made a short hop to the right, then to the left, and back to the right. It was something the Cats came up with, taking advantage of Ragdoll's quirk and letting him communicate in basic yes, no, or help as she tracked his movements from afar.
'Ok, just make sure you stay away from the student cabins. Be back in an hour.'
An hour? That was more than he expected and he wasn't about to question it. That gave him time to use five of his transformations!
Pressing the button at the base, the dial shot up with a resounding beep. The glowing hourglass on the face of the watch inverted on itself to become a diamond, an alien silhouette filling the void.
"Eenie, meanie, miny, moe." He rotated through his options, before finishing on one that was way too big for being subtle.
"Can't use him, so what about a flyer?" Scrolling a couple more to get his Frozen Mothman, or Big Chill form, Kota was ready for a night out in the sky. Slapping his hand on the dial and shoving back into the base of the watch, he let the illuminating glow encompass his body.
*BWOOSH*
His bones turned to jelly, his flesh melting into a pool of gelatinous chemicals, and a little metal disc to keep his body from collapsing materialized.
"Ooze?" His voice, garbled and definitely not a chilling rasp whined. Tugging at the white dial on his chest, Kota's blue eyes narrowed at the device. "How do you mix them up? Ones a bug and the other is flying snot!"
Flying snot can still fly though, so he still could make use of this.
The contraption hovering above him followed his will, tugging at his body until he was gleaming streak that flowed through the woods. He twirled around trunks, flew under logs, and rolled over the treetops. At some point he would have to worry about school again, keeping the omnitrix secret and figuring out how he would use it down the road.
It didn't matter right now, and that's what made summer vacation so great.
Soaring with his head in the clouds and diving back down, Kota didn't notice that someone else was enjoying some alone time in the woods until he was too close.
*BOOM*
Bakugo's hand flew out the moment he heard something rapidly approach, releasing a concussive blast that sent Kota to splat against a tree.
"What the hell?!" The blond shouted as he yelled at the living mess. "You trying to ambush me?!"
The disc flew over Kota's body, picking up the pieces and swirling them back together into a humanoid form, a very pissed form. "I was just minding my own business jerk! You blew me up for no reason!"
"You're the one who tracked me down in the woods asshole!" Bakugo shouted back, completely enraged by the childlike attitude he was getting. "What?! Didn't feel satisfied enough after the last time?!"
"There wasn't a last time!"
"AND THERE'S NOT GOING TO BE A SECOND TIME EITHER!" Bakugo's palms sparked as he took a steady position.
Kota was more than happy to oblige, ready to teach this hero student a lesson he should have known before getting into UA. He threw his hand out to Bakugo, letting it detach from his body as it sent a sticky glob towards the boy.
His reaction was much faster than Kota predicted, Bakugo blasting himself over the projectile and guiding him to close combat. He flowed out of the way of a blast, encircling his arm and winding up to his shoulder.
*BOOM*
The other hand came right overhead, knocking the gravity device out of the air and slipping out of Kota's control. And with a much larger explosion from his entrapped arm, Bakugo turned the boy into a shower of slime.
"Not gonna work again." The blond huffed, flinging the rest of the gunk off of his arm. Kota collected himself, literally as the disc scrambled to pick up his remains and reform the boy.
"So you've had some fancy training." Kota stretched himself out, turning his body into a tall figure with multiple limbs ready to give a proper beat down. "I've fought guys more dangerous than you."
"IF I'M SO WEAK HOW COME YOU HAVEN'T TAKEN ME DOWN YET?! OR HAVE YOU ALWAYS LOOKED DOWN ON ME?!"
"RAAARRWW" A deep animalistic yell soared over Bakugo's head, the boy ducking down at the sudden intervention that intervened.
A big orange dog, with no eyes, carrying a tree in its massive front paw swung with its might. The trunk smashed Kota's gelatinous body to splatter it across the forest. The trees were littered with glistening slime, the small disc spinning around in place as it tried to quickly stabalize itself.
The wild mutt sprinted on all fours, undeterred in its dark surroundings as its heightened senses easily picked up on the small whirring object. His jaw clamped along the alien metal, shaking it rapidly as its pieces were pulled along for the ride as the device desperately attempted to pull the boy together.
"WAAAHHH!" Kota's garbled cry came out as he was thrown from side to side with every shake.
That's when he noticed it, Bakugo seeing the familiar green dial on the beast instead of the white one on who he thought was Izuku. "Midoriya?"
After giving the most dizzying experience in Kota's life, Wildmutt plucked the device out of its slobbery mouth and pressed along a hidden button, making the slime go limp.
*BWOOSH*
In a brief flash, Izuku was fully clothed and standing between the alien and Bakugo. "Do you know why he started attacking you?"
"I thought it was you." The blond uttered, taking another peak towards the groaning slime. "He was acting sort of off but, didn't realize there were more of those freaky watches around."
Freaky watch?
*BEEP BOOP BOP BWOOO*
The goopy body was engulfed in a short red burst of light, revealing a small boy trying to get up to his wobbly feet. Izuku immediately gave him his full attention, staring at the familiar watch on his left wrist. Only instead of his shimmering green, it was a more vibrant teal.
"Oh man." Kota began blinking, adjusting his vision to the night as all the shifting landscape began to stabilize. When he could start making out the leaves along the branches, he could see the two sets of eyes peering down on him. The same ones that just saw him transform. "Oh man."
While Izuku was still stunned over how fast he had come across the other omnitrix, and who was wielding it, Bakugo wasted no time on giving the kid a piece of his mind.
Gripping the boy's shirt and bringing him to eye level, he vented his rage. "Why the hell did you pick a fight with me huh?!"
"What?!" Kota matched Bakugo's frustration with his own choice words. "I was just minding my own damn business when you started attacking me! Is that what heroes are supposed to do?!"
"Yeah right! Campgrounds are on the other side of the mountains dipshit! You don't just juice yourself up as walking slime and accidentally show up at a secret hero training exercise!"
"You don't act like a hero!"
"You sure act like a brat!"
"Your breath smells like dog vomit!" Kota had enough, already reaching behind his back to start fiddling with the dial and hope it still wasn't red. After the words left his mouth he realized he completely forgot about the alien creature that had made its way to camp and had attacked him. "Speaking of dogs, where did your mutt go?"
Bakugo was grinding his teeth and ready to march this kid all the way back for one of the adults to handle, but as he began to think again he knew there was someone right next to him who probably knew more about what was happening. "Oi, when were you going to mention the fact there's another omnitrix?"
Kota was lowered enough for his feet to touch the ground, the boy suddenly confused. They knew about the omnitrix? There was another one?
"We never confirmed where it was." Izuku answered, having both of their attention as he turned to the only other person in the universe who could turn into aliens. "Or if someone even had it."
"Wait." Kota looked over Izuku, his eyes floating towards the left wrist and spotting a metal contraption underneath his leather sleeve. "You, have one too?"
And so it was, that on a night in the isolation of the woods that the two wielders of the most powerful devices known had come to meet one another.
I've gotten a few other recommendations for when class B arrives. It's great to see your guys' ideas and it'll help me determine on what kind of slice of life I can slip in. I had most of this chapter made for a few days now, but I've also been spending time with my family for the holidays.
Next chapter I'll have class B arrive, and do some final set ups for getting into a proper arc with Kota and Izuku. It might turn out to be a shorter one, and I'm still unclear about some of the details but I think it'll still be fun.
So, this is the LAST CHANCE to share any ideas or recommendations for what interactions you want to see with teachers and students.
Keep in mind, most class A and all of class B are unaware that Izuku can turn into aliens.
HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY! It's a little late but fireworks are on sale now so blow plenty of stuff up.

Trux-Killer: I bet a lot of readers are waiting for this fight, and I plan on making it epic.
david arturo farfan soto 1998: I would love to see art of the splices I've come up with, but so far the recommendations I've gotten for any other splices haven't really made much sense. If someone offers a really cool one, I'll think about it but for now I don't have any plans for other splices.
You're right though, I brought up the whole 'infertility' thing and never addressed it again. I've been meaning to but I just keep forgetting about it. It should be addressed still, and I'll see about making it happen.
AnimeFan13579: Only one student is spliced with an alien Kota has, and that will be a big part of the next arc.
MrMateusz: Any specific topic of conversation?
Thunder Dragon: I did just have a scene of Izuku's family, and others in latest chapter, so we're aware of what's up with them right now.
As for Itsuka yeah, but I have some plans for her in the near future.
Guest: That is a lot, and I'm glad for all of the ideas you have. I'll be sure to feature some of these in the upcoming future. Though I do want to clarify that most of class A and all of class B are unaware of Izuku's identities and that Itsuka is off in space.
HeartGemHolder: That's true, I have given Bakugo growth and only featured short little moments of him. Yeah, he kind of exploded in this latest one but I think he had a fair reason to be upset this time and fell back on some old habits.
By Water Hazard boosting, do you mean splicing? Her quirk, while never addressed in detail in canon, I've made to be more hydrokinesis instead of production.
I do plan to go into Reiko's situation fully soon, that's covered.
The Cannonbolt idea is interesting, and I've never wondered about something like that. Though I can see something like that happening.
.whcl: That is VERY vague.
Omni-Trickery: I've never heard of an instance of Chromastone being able to interact with time powers, but if he can interact with mana then maybe….
