Master Control
Chapter 68
Summer, for those with no job, no responsibility, no school, was more than just a vacation. It was a spiritual retreat of naps, junk food, video games, and the occasional get together. For a particular streamer she spent even more time playing games and by simply recording herself she managed to get a decent income.
Probably not enough to actually have a decent living, but it's not like she had bills as a teenager living at home. Giving her plenty of spending monaaayyy.
Trouble was, she didn't need clothes, food was provided, and anything super cool she could whine until Izuku made some alien techy stuff in her room. So besides buying more games, and occasionally pirating others, there wasn't a whole lot she could think of to get. Ugh, she should have just accepted Mina's offer when they went to buy gear for their camping trip.
Splayed across the couch, letting the various little gremlins play with three of her limbs like they were playdough, Himiko was playing around on her phone trying to find some things to do.
*ACHOO*
Himiko flinched as Shinji sneezed against on of her clumped hands, freezing the surface of it and causing her to drop her phone on her belly. The poor thing looked like he was about to cry seeing he hurt her, so Himiko quickly pulled the icy part of herself inside and gave him a little more of her flesh to play with.
"No worries, I know it was an accident." She began shifting the colors along some of her skin to let him make whatever counted as modern art nowadays.
Making a new hand to stick out from her belly and stretch it to her face, she saw her little card holders along the back of it. The card she planned on using for spending, a couple business cards for random local places that intrigued her, and that mystery one that was poking out from the rest.
Huh, she had almost forgotten about that little gamer get together.
"Eri!" Himiko yelled out from the couch. "Take over for the blubies! I'm going out!"
The girl poked her head out of her bedroom, holding a handheld fish net with a large jar in the other hand. "Now? I'm still acclimating the garden eels to the new aquarium."
"Let them watch." Himiko easily argued, using her scattered limbs the children were playing with and pulling them together into a quick group hug. "You've got like, four tanks in your room."
"Five now-" Eri mentally counted her salt water, fresh water, jelly, octopus, and now eel. "-and I don't want to find out how they might try and reach inside."
"Hah! That's right, Enji phased his hands through one of them!"
Eri nodded, cringing at the memory of finding him snatching fish out to pass along to Keigo who had a cup to keep them in. FILLED WITH SODA!
"And-!" Himiko continued, started to laugh her ass off. "-The other time were Rumi pressed her face up against another and her breath started to freeze it!"
Eri remembered that too, and was disturbed by Himiko's jokes about frozen food.
"Or how about the time that Tensei came running out covered in jellyfish because he decided to try and swim inside with them! HAHAHAHA!"
The youngest sister was both annoyed and confused. Wasn't Himiko trying to convince her to let them into her room to watch her in a delicate process?
Once she was done with her fit of laughs, Himiko held all the blubies up in the air to dangle them like prizes. "So yeah, watch them while I go out?"
That question, the spark to something that would burn itself into history flung through her horn. Eri was intimidated by the sheer anxiety that filled her gut, knowing that this was a pivotal moment in history. She could feel it connect to a series of events that would enact one after another, and to try and stop it once the process had started could collapse the very timeline they inhabited.
All of it hinged, on what she responded with.
"You ok?" Himiko questioned out of sudden concern, even the blubies losing their playfulness as they were confused over the fear Eri was experiencing. "Do you need me to stay here?"
Himiko was more of a recluse, and while independent was continually showered in being sheltered from the harsh world she had experienced. Would that be it? Would trying to keep her safe lead to a spiral that she couldn't stop? Himiko was able to take care of herself, but would that last if she was constantly given everything she needed while she played games all day?
If she just briefly checked the future she would know, but then it would be set in stone for the outcome. That was the terrifying power of time, that even looking towards what could happen would make it so.
Sometimes, she wished she was still oblivious to the vast capacity her quirk truly had.
So, no matter what might happen what Eri would focus on is the now. What kind of person would she be in this pivotal moment?
Eri chose to be kind.
"It's alright." The young girl decided as she came forward to accept the supervising role of the blubies. "You go have fun."
"Really?" Her older sister still hesitant over the short panic Eri seemed to experience. "Are you sure?"
"Yeah." Eri stood firm on her choice, leading the children over to her room. At least they behaved better while under someone's watch. "You don't get out a lot anymore."
"Well yeah." The blonde rolled her eyes as she shifted her body to have the appearance of a casual outfit. "Mom's always scared something might happen. Besides, if anything does I have a little teleporter thingy, or an emergency beeper, whatever Izuku packed so much into the little disc I can't even care to remember it all."
As Himiko's mind was settled and made her way to the door, the shifting paths mimicked her, all coming into one inevitable outcome. She was right, if something happened they had so many ways to make sure she could call for help to instantly arrive or even zip back home in a flash. Of course there was one outcome, they had done so much to prepare for every possibility. If all else failed, Himiko was a menace that could vanish and strike before anyone could find out how to hurt her.
If she went over these details long enough, hopefully it will get rid of the sinking regret in her soul.
Their feet continued to march along the dirt, all of them still taken aback by the circumstances but it didn't seem that strange compared to some of the other things they came across.
Yeah, just so happened there's another kid who can also turn into aliens. Not that weird anymore.
Though without the usual impending threat or the nerve racking secrets, they could share questions and answers back and forth without being interrupted.
"How much do you know about the omnitrix?" Izuku started, keeping himself between Kota and Bakugo in case they started hurling insults at one another again.
"Not a lot." Kota held up his own device, glancing between Izuku's and his own and noticing all the differences in design. His seemed, a lot more simple in comparison. "It just crashed in front of me one day, and sometimes there would be robots sent to get it. Then some big ugly shark guy showed up from space and took me aboard his ship where the creator was. They were jerks, him and the angry hamster."
Hamster? Izuku couldn't exactly place a species that closely resembled a hamster, and that didn't sound like this universe's creator of the omnitrix. Before he could get out another question Kota had one of his own.
"How come yours looks cooler?" Kota asked, realizing he might have already blown the deal. "If you're lucky I might trade you."
"Sorry." Izuku laughed it off. "I'm kind of attached to this one. But I've had mine for a while, and it's gone through some updates over the years. Actually, it used to look a lot like yours. Omnitrix, load prototype version 1."
Even Bakugo watched as suddenly Izuku's omnitrix began to glow with its internal components, the metal shifting as it began to revert back to its original state. A black band with white tubes running along the side, the green hourglass in a black ring with four lights around it.
"Woah." Kota glanced to his own. "Mine can do that? Wait, you can talk to yours?!"
"It's got a voice command function, and a mental one." Izuku demonstrated, switching it back to its newest version without saying a word. "Wait, how many functions do you have active?"
"Umm-"
Trees snapped as a sudden force began charging them, Bakugo flexing his palms as Izuku and Kota held their hands over their watches.
A fight seemed inevitable, always cutting things short and now it was coming to them.
"KOTA!" Mrs. Waterhose's voice came from the center of the noise, the Wild Wild Pussy Cats arriving in full force on a dirt lion.
"Mom?"
"STAND BACK!" Tiger leapt off of the mount, stretching out to get between the boy and Izuku alongside Pixie-Bob.
Izuku would have felt ecstatic to see the team in action, if it weren't for the fact they skipped their playful intro and were aiming their attacks at him. Naturally, he held his hands up, not in the same way as Bakugo.
"Are you ok?!" Mandalay immediately fussed over the child. "As soon as Ragdoll saw that boy dart towards you when you were alone in the woods we came as soon as we could."
"What's your deal?!" The geokinetic brought her hand up, creating a cage around Izuku to be interrogated in. "And you better keep it short!"
*BOOM*
An explosion at the base of Izuku's prison detonated it into chunks.
"WHAT'S YOUR DEAL?!" Bakugo screamed back at the heroes. "In case you couldn't tell, we haven't done shit!"
Kota wouldn't exactly agree, but he was equally disturbed by how fast the Pussy Cats assumed the teenagers were up to something bad. "I'm fine! Stop worrying!"
"Of course we're going to worry!" His mother immediately reminded Kota of her role as a parent. "How many people have come after that watch of yours and tried to kill you?!"
Ragdoll cautiously approached Izuku and Bakugo, keeping her pawed hands up to give a less threatening but still ready to whoop ass pose. "If you come along quietly and answer our questions, I'm sure we can clear this all up."
Then her eyes snapped wide, the woman immediately alerting the others. "INCOMING!"
The earth rumbled underneath them, as even more challengers made their approach. Powerloader erupted underneath them all, bringing Midnight, Eraserhead, and Present Mic along with him to surround Izuku and take defensive positions.
"You mind explaining why you're harassing UA students?" The threatening visage of the mummy of the night began to unravel himself to become a looming figure barely visible in the dark.
"You mind explaining what you want with Kota?" Tiger stood tall, barely shaken from their arrival.
It was chaos, madness, and Bakugo was done trying to reason with everyone. Glancing towards Izuku, he just saw someone who seemed way too used to all of this. "Shit, does this happen a lot?"
"It's a little different every time." Izuku admitted, recalling all of the wild times he had when rumors of the omnitrix surfaced to those that knew him. "You had a similar reaction."
"Dammit you're right." The explosive teen's shoulders sagged as the stand off continued, both sides telling the other to stand down. "Sorry."
Wait, did Bakugo really just say what he thinks he did?
"I got issues, I know that." Bakugo continued, as they somehow had a rare moment to chat despite the fight that was about to break out in front of them. "And I made it a problem for everyone else, especially you. A hero doesn't cause problems."
As Kota was still trying to talk his mother down, as the Pussy Cats kept accusing the UA students of plotting something against them, and the teachers trying to get an answer for what justification they had for going full force against him…..Izuku finally got to see a side of Bakugo that he had always hoped he had.
"A hero kills problems and shoves them in the ground."
But there were still some things that never changed.
Well, guess if the Wild Wild Pussy Cats (and Bakugo now) were aware of Kota's omnitrix then Providence should step in and start getting things cleared up. Time to make use of his full time agent status.
It was going to be a very, very long night.
The wheels of the arriving bus hissed as they came into the large dirt parking area of the Wild Wild Pussy Cat mountainside base. It parked next to the last one, that had arrived yesterday with class A. Behind the wheel The Blood Hero: Vlad King aka Sekijiro Kan glanced around, trying to find out just where everyone was.
The teacher/hero was always annoyed as Eraserhead would make last minute changes to train his class a little harder, making his own efforts seem lazy even though he devoted most of his time to preparing his class. Though to not have his students up an hour before sunrise to begin quirk training, let alone at this hour seemed off.
Taking a peek at his students scattered in the seats behind him, he could see the teens struggle to fully wake up after taking a nap along the way over, only a couple actually appearing aware of their arrival.
"Grab your things and start filing out." The man's deep vocals ignited their thoughts, reminding them they were under his watch and he expected their full attention. "We'll drop your supplies off to where you'll be staying and then do some quick warm ups."
They mustered enough energy to obey his directions, all of them grabbing their bags from the compartments under the vehicle, as he went to go find wherever the rest of the heroes were at. Quickly making his way to the main cabin and sweeping his gaze around, he could make out some quickened footsteps making their way down to where he was.
Ragdoll rushed around the corner, coming up to greet the hero in person. "Welcome! You're here earlier than we expected! I'll help guide your kittens over to the cabins right away!"
"Where is everyone else?" He didn't waste a second, wanting to get started right away to get his students to wake up.
"Oh, they should be started right about-"
The whole area seemed to shake, like a multitude of natural disasters hit the horizon at once.
"Now." Ragdoll pointed a single finger of her paw glove outside, explaining it all.
If you didn't work with the most capable teenagers with the most powerful quirks in Japan on a regular basis you would be calling emergency services. But as Vlad stepped out to see a mountain of red crystals shoot up only to be shattered, explosions rocketing in another part of the forest, flames and ice washing over each other, and the entire lake being pulled from the Earth, Vlad only saw the lead Eraserhead already had with his students.
Not to mention a particular boy with a quirk enhancing PQE juicing up some of those kids.
Across the vast woods, many students were exerting themselves to their full potential. From pushing out blizzards to crushing mountains, UA was determined to get them to do even more.
Running laps around the entire range, Tenya kept pushing himself faster and faster as his heart hammered in his chest.
"Hey bud!" Tensei, barely winded was easily keeping pace with his younger brother, really rubbing in the difference in their speed. "Bye bud!"
It was increasingly agitating but it kept pushing him to move faster. He might never catch up to his older brother's new abilities, but he would carry the generations of work his family had entrusted to him. He rushed nearby one of the cliffs, where along its side various glues and binding agents were being applied to it.
Sero's elbows burned as he kept rolling out more tape than he ever tried, joined by Bondo hacking up everything he could and Ojiro holding up his tail to continue a stream of webbing.
*CRACK*
Just behind them, Sato was throwing the largest boulders he could lift straight onto the sticky wall with a stick of honey poking out from his notable lips. He wasn't the only one, Shoji was using his own mutated strength and lobbing the rocks ahead with Ojiro using his free hands to do the same.
Sweat and testosterone was pouring off of them as the summer heat continued to work its way into their skin.
Something tugged at the edge's of Ojiro's enhanced senses, one of his four arms swiping out to catch a water bottle thrown towards him.
"Keep hydrated." Izuku reminded them all, carrying various water bottles with tape along the sides holding the names of each of the students at the cliff. "I made sure to add the appropriate vitamins and other enzymes to help replenish each of your adhesive qualities."
"Woah, thanks man!" Sero was first to accept the offer, his arms feeling stiff and swollen around his elbows to where he struggled to lift his hand to grab the beverage.
"Thank you." Ojiro desperately began pouring the chilled water down his throat, tempted to run it over some of the blue fur that was doing nothing to keep him cool.
"Oh." Bondo noticed Izuku had not just arrived with three, but five bottles. "Sato, this one's for you!"
"Thank you!" The large teen shouted, still feeling invigorated from the sweetness in his mouth as he snatched the drink Bondo had tossed to him. Just as he finished downing it in one go, he realized he accidentally swallowed the honey stick he was sucking on. "Midoriya! Do you have another?"
"Plenty!" Pulling out a ziploc bag, Izuku handed a few of them over to the boy. "You feel like the smaller doses are working?"
"Yeah!" Sato flexed his arm as he plopped another sweet stick in his mouth. "Natural sugars have always felt better, but thanks for the tip on doing more with less. After a while of just sucking on these and my quirk feels like it's really pulling as much strength as it can from each gram!"
"Plus you're more mentally present on less." Shoji added, noting a drink was left for him. "What's in mine?"
"Mostly electrolytes." Izuku answered as he pulled out the short list. "Since you're not working on regenerating or altering your limbs right now, I decided it was best to keep the drink light. But this afternoon expect a lot of protein drinks."
"Noted."
"By the way." Sero did a couple more stretches, knowing he had to get right back to the grind once Izuku left. "You're doing stuff like this for all of us around the woods?"
"Yes."
"How are you getting around?"
Ojiro was the only one aware of Izuku's full potential, and Shoji was limited to the general PQE story class A got. But Sero, Bondo, and Sato, all members of class B? They were watching closely, knowing Izuku was a factor towards teachers and students alike getting quirk upgrades. There could easily be other suspicions class B had.
So how did Izuku reply?
"I have my ways." Was the only answer Izuku gave before leaving the students to continue burning their quirk muscles. Though the wary class B was still watching as the boy stepped into the trees to seemingly disappear.
"He's odd." Sato bluntly stated. "Helpful good guy, but it seems like there's a lot to unpack getting to know him."
Ojiro couldn't help but chuckle in agreement. "You have no idea."
A massive clearing was used for some of the more destructive, or larger scaled quirks.
Up above, Ochaco sat in the air as several rocks, dead trees, water, just about anything that wasn't tethered to the ground was in orbit around her as she kept her hold. Some of the random objects she would have to keep special attention to as Kodai, floating within her gravitational pull, would switch out the sizes of some of her weights. Pebbles turned into hills, and house sized rocks would shrink to grains of sand. With so many to keep track of and the vast changes in size it kept both girls on edge and straining at every movement.
While their training was more self contained, the others below were less restrained.
Sitting in a drum of water, Shoto was freezing as much as he could around himself before melting it all instantly with his flames. Every other second it shook, Bakugo nearby dunking his hands into a calming solution before throwing his hands up to detonate the air.
His explosions alone would warrant anyone to wear earplugs around the area, as just nearby Eijiro was pushing out towering crystals that were shattered under several screams.
Kyoka, with multiple copies of herself, were screeching across the field to destroy the diamond castles that Eijiro was finding difficult to continually create. His body was padded, heavily so that it wouldn't crack under the super sonic screams. The only part of him that was exposed were the palms of his hands and feet which were shoved into the ground.
Manga too was practicing the power of his words, having one of Eijiro's crystals off to the side for him to attempt to shatter without the ability to change his frequency.
"It's all in the diaphragm!" Present Mic, howling above the noise made his instructions clear to the two. "Your vocals may be making noise but they aren't what makes everyone go HEEYYYYY!"
"HEY!" A similarly loud yell startled them, Izuku coming up with a tray of drinks and specialized snacks. "How is everyone doing so far?"
"Going great little listener!" Present Mic came up to give him some quick pats, before spotting some tough jerky. "Is this for me?"
With a proud nod from Izuku, the man gave into his more primal instinct and wolfed them down.
"Awww yeah, you're my favorite student for the day."
"I thought I was your coworker right now?"
"Then I'll vouch for you getting employee of the month."
"Ahoy!" Manga came over in a short jog, grabbing a drink mixed with some honey and lemon to keep his vocals smooth. "Man that's good."
"I see you're widening your vocabulary." Izuku noted the recent application of the advice he gave earlier. "How is it working out?"
"Not as good as what I know." Manga began to explain his training. "It's like, I know what I know you know? Most of the words I use, I've got a deep feeling to them you know?"
"Uhh-"
"It's like-" Manga took a step back to try and share his scrambled thoughts. "-when I use my quirk I'm thinking back to the scenes I've read, the intensity, the strength, the emotion of the scene. Words I don't know, I have nothing to know about them you know?"
"Oh!" With a snap at starting to know what Manga knows, Izuku started to piece it together. "I think I get it. When you use your quirk, the words you use require a deeper mental image. The emotions you felt reading the scenes along with the repeated imagery tied to a certain onomatopoeia create a solid expectation for whatever you say."
"So in short." Present Mic tried to bring them back on track as the others nearby came over. "It's something that will need you to read some other stuff. But this camp is for strengthening your quirk, I'll mention it to Kan sometime about widening your skillset when summer is over."
As the teacher began going over some quick breathing techniques with Manga, Kyoka arrived with Eijiro as Ochaco was carefully putting things down around them.
"Hey" The short girl greeted. "That was quite a shout."
Taking off his plush noise canceling helmet, Eijiro enjoyed his brief freedom. "Ahh man, that's better. You don't look very tired from running around all day."
"Well." Izuku quickly held up the omnitrix, letting them see the quick alien displayed. "I'm trying out some more AGQ's (Alien generated quirk). Since I'm covering a few different areas, and I knew some areas would be loud, I needed something that could make a quick announcement and multitask."
"And yet you're still as tall as before." Kyoka jabbed, still trying to get over her sudden height adjustment.
"Kyoka?" Izuku started a little more seriously, and also glancing to Eijiro knowing this would also pertain to him. "Eijiro, I know I don't have your base human genetics saved but if you both really wanted I could try to hop back into the past to take a quick scan. That way, you could be human with a quirk version of your powers."
"Would I be as tough?" Eijiro quickly asked.
"No." Izuku softly answered, and started to approach the topic he had been meaning to for a while.
"Well we're healthy aren't we?" Kyoka posed. "Not fully human but healthy."
"Yes, mostly."
"Mostly?" Eijiro sounded slightly worried, memories reflecting back to his painful battle with cancer years ago.
"It's not much about your health." Izuku's hand clenched around the omnitix, fingers fiddling with the controls to try and keep his nerves in check. "It's just, you might have limited options."
"Dude." Kyoka could hear his heart thumping away, making her and Eijiro concerned over just what Izuku was having a hard time saying. "We're not going to hate you, but please tell us already."
Coming to his rescue, and dooming it in the same moment, Reiko appeared to explain it in her blunt demeanor. "You can't have kids with humans."
"What?" Eijiro reeled at first, then widened his eyes as he realized what she meant. "Ooh, yeah that makes sense. Didn't really think about that."
"Um, didn't really see that coming." The echo chamber of a girl glanced away, taking a short moment to get over the slightly embarrassed blush across her face. "Though, what do you mean by options?"
"W-well….to have kids, you'd have to find someone with DNA very similar to your own." Gosh why was this so difficult. He even had kids! Luckily they were handling this super well, making the awkward topic easier to handle. "As you are, you won't be able to 'conceive' with basic humans. If someone had a mutation quirk that was close to your genetics or that made them more 'fertile'-"
"Hey guys! Are there any waters left?" Ochaco's cheerful and ignorant call over cracked Izuku's whittling strength on the topic.
"Here!" Handing out the bottles to Kodai and Ochaco, he yanked Reiko away before he was forced to get into any more details. "We should get back to work everyone! Reiko, I'm pretty sure you should be with Kuroiro and Tokoyami over at the cave!"
The four were left in place, watching him run off to avoid turning his face into a tomato. While Eijiro and Kyoka were put off by how little tolerance Izuku had for the topic on top of making a massive deal out of it, the other two were left confused.
"What was that about?" Ochaco questioned as she pointed towards Izuku's distant back.
"It's uh." Eijiro found himself tongue tied, also having a hard time getting on the subject. It didn't seem like a big deal for him, since he never really thought about if he wanted kids or not. But actually discussing it? Was weird. "A personal topic."
"...Ok?..."
"Scuse me!" A voice came from below.
They glanced down, seeing the lipless teen Honenuki's head poking out from the ground. "Kirishima right? Could you make me a hill to swim through? The harder the material the more strain it puts on my quirk."
"Oh yeah for sure."
Overlooking the several groups of students atop of the wooden watchtower of the multistory cabin, Eraserhead used his genetic advantage of his body made of wrappings to keep a set of binoculars against his eyes. Sitting next to him, was Ragdoll mentally keeping track of nearly fifty individuals with her quirk.
Overall, things were calm besides the lethal quirks being thrown around everywhere.
"How long?" Ragdoll randomly asked, still a little dazed from last night.
Luckily, they still technically got a full night's sleep. Using Midnight's new quirk, they all slipped into a dreamstate where they could also see enough memories of Izuku to get a much bigger picture.
"Hmm?" Eraserhead moved his sights over towards one of the areas where his students were working. Yaoyorozu was eating as many high carb meals as she could while piles of car batteries were falling out of her back. Near her, multiple Kaminari were absorbing as much energy as they could, expelling every spark into another, and repeating the process.
It was bright.
"Well, how long until you really accepted aliens existed? I mean I figured they probably existed but now I'm expected to believe they've invaded multiple times and two boys turn into them?"
"Don't think too hard about it." The ever wise man replied.
"Do you just not think about it because you became half alien before you even realized what that meant?"
Lowering the binoculars from his eyes, he peered from the shadows of his facial wrappings towards her. "And what exactly is that supposed to mean?"
"I don't know, that's why I'm asking you." Before she could resume her rant, something stood out from her quirk based observation. Tapping her radio ears, she signaled her teammate. "Ragdoll to Mandalay, inform Ashido to take a break and wash her hands."
"Copy that."
Eraserhead visually checked the scene, observing off in the distance the massive whole that Ashido had burned into the side of a cliff. With a few clicks, he saw her hands looked more red than her usual pink. Reaching inside of his chest to pull out his own radio, he contacted his own coworker.
"Eraserhead to Midoriya, Ashido's experiencing some quirk backlash. You have something for that?"
"Yes sir, en route now."
The boy was fast, either one of his copies standing by or just teleporting right to her area. He had some lotion at the ready, the girl quickly running it over her arms and taking a seat on a nearby rock.
"Or what about that?" Ragdoll continued. "It's one thing learning Kota has been helping us out when we're struggling, a ten year old! But Midoriya faced off against a planet killer and now you have him running around like an intern? Are you really ok with relying on someone who's only concern should be who he's going to ask for a school dance?"
"We don't have school dances."
"Well you should! It would be so much fun!"
Taking in a deep breath, despite not needing to breathe, Eraserhead opened up a little more. "It seems impossible at first glance. Sometimes I question if I'm in a psychiatric ward imagining it all. Aliens, other dimensions, time travel, ancient evils on Earth and in space….and whether we approve it or not there's a boy who's going to take it all on. Logically, he's the only one equipped to handle it all with his expertise in using the omnitrix and its countless transformations. You're right though, he tried to live as normal of a life as possible and I would prefer all kids to have that chance. But if there's one thing I've learned doing underground work is that life doesn't care what you want or what you plan for."
"Are we talking about destiny?"
"I don't believe in destiny."
"But you believe you can talk to cats?"
"I'm talking to one right now aren't I?"
With a short laugh escaping the woman's mouth, Ragdoll finally got a better understanding of how to cope with all the absurdity. Still, from the things she had seen from the memories of Midoriya, she did worry for the child the Wild Wild Pussy Cats had been caring for alongside his mother.
Would that be Kota's life?
"By the way." Eraserhead glanced over to the woman. "With your quirk, how did you not realize Kota could transform into aliens?"
"Well, without knowing they could change my quirk had a really hard time-Vlad's coming."
Sure enough, they could hear him making his way up the ladder towards their position. Once he managed to climb into the wooden den to oversee the forest, he couldn't help but think he was intruding.
"Was I interrupting something?"
"No." Eraserhead wouldn't let anymore love life rumors spread about him. Getting up to stretch his body, he stepped onto the ledge ready to leap. He held over the binoculars to the fellow teacher.
"We'll need to talk." Vlad stated before he could leave. "My students deserve the same opportunity as yours."
"...You told them."
"No, they're simply observant."
"Observant of where you point." Done with the conversation, Eraserheasd unraveled himself to let his body ride the wind.
With a huff and a puff the Blood Hero sat his ass down, looking off to check on his students from a bird's eye view.
"Soooo." Ragdoll tried to lighten his serious demeanor. "You just finish checking on your kittens?"
"Yes, as you know Kamakiri and Testsutetsu are still sparing. Power Loader is helping Kaibara, and Rin is set on the new idea of trying to make larger scales."
Kota, felt special when he found the omnitrix. To turn into ten different aliens, all with their own strengths and powers that could keep up with heroes? At ten years old he could finally take control of his life thanks to a strange watch.
It got scary sometimes, especially when he was abducted and seeing his mother hurt, but he could still do something about it.
So imagine how he felt when he found out his omnitrix was in 'baby mode.'
Sitting on the back deck of the cabin, Kota was holding his left arm out to Izuku as the older boy was navigating his way through the 'outdated' interface. Just nearby, was his mother who continued to hover over him like it was about to explode.
"Wow." Izuku scrolled the dial, all sorts of weird symbols along the faceplate of Kota's omnitrix. "You've really been making use of the one feature haven't you?"
"What else is it supposed to do?" Kota questioned, leaning his face along his free arm. It was a watch that turned you into aliens, what more could it do?
"Well, the first thing I did with it was correct the genetic damage of my best friend."
"Huh?"
"I uh, healed his quirk cancer." Izuku answered more simply.
"It can heal cancer?" Mrs. Waterhose had to ask aloud to really solidify the reality in her mind.
"And a lot more." Izuku began to think about all the features he had discovered. "Teleporting, voice command, translating, generating outfits and serving as a pocket dimension to store things and people in, communication-"
"Can I do all of that?!" Kota yelled, in part excitement but also self frustration if he could have been doing all of those things this whole time.
Knowing very well how much a parent would want to be involved in a child's well being, Izuku took a glance towards his mother to see what she would be ok with. "I mean, I could unlock some things."
After a moment to think about it, she realized she knew so little about the purpose and the functions of the watch strapped to her son's wrist. "I think we should figure out why they're locked in the first place."
"Oh come on!" Kota immediately whined. "Can you imagine all of the things I could do if I could teleport?!"
"Yes." She answered in a flat tone, the boy realizing he wasn't doing a good job convincing how responsible he could be. "How did you unlock your features?"
"Oh, when I got mine everything was unlocked."
"Seriously?!" The more Kota learned the more he realized he was being held back so much! "And you got yours when you were ten! I'm ten! I can handle it!"
"There's a matter of if I even can." Izuku seemed slightly frustrated, moving through the old menu. "Even though I just managed to get into a basic diagnostic, each of the functions is locked behind a command code. Keep in mind this is still an entirely different device than my own so the maker of the omnitrix could have easily come up with codes that were even slightly off than the ones I have."
"Then why don't we just ask him?" Kota huffed, trying not to whine anymore about his mom not approving him to have all sorts of cool powers with the watch. "Unless you don't have him on speed dial or something."
Doing her best to remember the dream they had last night , Mrs. Izumi asked the next relevant question. "Did Azuth even make the omnitrix in this universe?"
"Azmuth." Izuku corrected. "And due to the time difference, I doubt he'd want me to call him minutes after I left."
"The rabbid rabbit in charge of that ship?" Kota tried to guess with what little he knew, since he wasn't present for all the mind meddling nonsense.
"What?" The experienced user of the omnitrix wasn't sure who Kota was referring to. "No. Did he say anything about Jumba?"
"Eh, I wasn't really paying attention to exactly what those guys were saying."
"Hmmm." Deciding to look into where a signature or a name referenced might be in Kota's omnitrix, Izuku elaborated as he worked. "Well, someone I met in Hawaii claimed that the omnitrix was his work, but the longer he talked the more it seemed like he only actually developed one aspect of it."
There! Izuku found it. Luckily this one didn't need a command function, just a quick activation and-"Got it."
Kota's dial began to rotate slightly, some small bright dots illuminating in the faceplate. "What did you do?"
"Just a navigational system to bring us to Azmuth, or whoever the creator is. Huh, that doesn't seem like Xenon or Primus."
Seeing the rejuvenated excitement of her son's face, on top of how invested Izuku seemed to get into discovering all sorts of new things about another watch similar to his own, a worried mother had to speak up. "Let's, dial it back please. If dangerous aliens were after the omnitrix, wouldn't they have gone after the creator? And how do we know that once there, he won't try to take it for himself anyways?"
"Come on!" The child cried out from the constant crippling of his opportunities. "Haven't I already proved that I can handle myself?!"
"You were taken into space!" She did her best to remain calm to her child, but he needed to know that he wasn't invincible. Too many heroes got overconfident with their winning streaks, and got careless. Like her husband. Even those who were cautious still could find themselves overwhelmed. Like backdraft.
Now before her were two young boys who reflected both of those heroes, and while they both possessed frightening abilities she couldn't stand to see them end up like the others.
"We don't need to contact the creator do we?" She began, quickly finding a good argument to keep them from doing anything unnecessarily dangerous. "Midoriya knows plenty about the omnitrix, and if we need his help we can contact him. We don't have to jump head first into something that doesn't need looking into."
As Kota was about to voice his complete disagreement, Izuku destroyed any chance to convince his mother otherwise.
"Alright, I can see your point."
"WHAT?!" Kota pulled his omnitrix away from the traitor. "Come on! You won't turn on all the cool stuff and now you won't let me talk to the one other guy who could?! Why are you taking her side on this!"
"Kota, trust me. The hardest part about any of this, is worrying those close to you. I know how you feel, because I've had talks like this with my own Mom." Izuku spoke from many, many times he saw someone he loved distressed if he was ok or not. But then he turned to his mother, completely empathetic to Kota's situation. "But I also know what it's like to want to understand more about a device that's bonded for life to me, that after constantly handling things that adults struggle with on my own to be treated like a child who doesn't know better. If I never had the opportunity to grow, to learn more about my situation, I alongside countless others wouldn't be alive today."
She immediately wanted to say no, to tell him he doesn't know what it's like to have a child or have the responsibilities of a pro hero. But she saw it herself, floating in a dream through memories he shared with them. An invasion on a distant universe, dangerous villains and aliens alike, world ending threats, and even defending his own family.
"Only if we have to." She finally uttered, not necessarily making Kota happy but it was a reasonable request after all the concerns she voiced.
"Fine." Her son reluctantly said as he folded his arms, trying to think of what problems he might be having to immediately make her give into his wishes. "Well, I do have this one problem of where sometimes I hit the dial and I turn into the wrong alien."
"Sounds like a user error." Izuku quickly deduced, not helping Kota's case.
"Well what about the long recharge times?"
"Maybe not hit the dial so hard." The teen advised, Kota's mother starting to get up as her son continued to spout all sorts of excuses.
"Dang it! Well what about when I turn into one of my aliens my memory gets all fuzzy?"
"What?" The sudden alarm in Izuku's tone halted her, and even made Kota double take from his answer. He just kind of threw that out there, thinking it was just another quirk of that alien.
"Which alien?" Izuku all but demanded.
"It's uh, the freaky ghost one."
His alarm became a flinching terror, Izuku knowing exactly what kind of problem Kota must be experiencing. Glancing over to his mother, who was suddenly filled with dread as she saw the teen's expression.
"Ghostfreak." Izuku uttered in a fearful whisper.
"Uh, yeah." Kota confusingly reiterated. "That one. What's wrong with it besides being super creepy?"
He had asked Ben about it, who had shared many stories about his issues, and the dangers that presented itself from a single strand of DNA. With how many new safety countermeasures there were inside his own omnitrix, he could see that Azmuth himself had to step in and make sure that every possibility of anything like that happening again would be covered. Because if it wasn't, it spelled disaster.
"Mrs. Waterhose, we need to find the creator."
THERE YOU HAVE IT! Next arc is Izuku and Kota seeking out the creator of this universe's omnitrix before the dead come to life. I know it was a little bit before my last post, but I've been a little busier than usual AND I went on vacation with some family. I still project to be done with the story by the end of summer, so keep an eye out for updates.
Navigation Function seen in Original Ben 10 movie Secrets of the Omnitrix, as it navigated Ben and Tetrax's ship through an asteroid field to get to Xenon where Azmuth was. Another instance was Alien Force Season 3 Episode 14, where the omnitrix returned to Primus as called by Azmuth.
Using these two as examples, one can infer that the omnitrix is capable of tracking Azmuth wherever he is. Of course, there could easily be more to it or even missing factors but those exact parameters are not stated in canon.
Also, in case you were wondering Kota's list of aliens, here you go as seen in order.
-Rip Jaws-Wildvine-Juryrigg-Cannonbolt-Feedback-Eye Guy- Ghost Freak- Big Chill- Goop
Big Chill was also a recent addition to his ten, so there's two more that he has that I haven't featured in the story yet. Don't worry, we will.
Also, I'm FRIGGIN PISSED! HBO MAX took off not just Alien Force, but also Ultimate Alien and Omniverse! They're taken a bunch of stuff I like down, but they also added stuff I loved watching with family like Tanked, How it's Made, and River Monsters.
Those are just things I put in the background though, Max is officially no longer worth my money.
Looks like I'm back to flying under the black flag.

HeartGemHolder: I wanted to get to that topic sooner but this chapter ended up turning super long. I'll make sure that on their return we address it.
Mashot Tito: Good to see you were satisfied with how I've integrated things into the story. As for the killing part, well the story isn't over yet and the biggest threat has yet to make his big move.
Midoryia-Uzumaki13: If you kept track of my posting, you'd know that I post at least one chapter a week and often two times. There have been instances where I have taken larger breaks but I haven't done that recently.
Guest: Alright, I've added in a lot of your recommendations but since there was a lot to get through I had to make them smaller scenes.
As for the questions, I think Swampfire before blossoming can control Komori's mushrooms but after blossoming control Ibara's hair. I'm also not sure about the details of Shoda's double hit.
Kota's omnitrix doesn't do anything special with quirks. It doesn't save them, it doesn't transfer them to aliens, it's just part of whoever is wielding the omnitrix.
I think aliens that can phase can get through the air wall.
Don't think Eijiro has the precision to control crystal dust. I also don't think Pixie-Bob's creations would have increased durability unless they were carrying a solid chunk of crystal that hasn't lost integrity.
Don't think so.
AnimeFan13579: Glad you understand the flow of the characters in these situations.
Guest: No, I don't plan on doing any more Lilo and Stitch stuff.
Fire turtle: I think a lot of your questions would be better answered by MHA canon, not my story. But I do agree with Shoto's conspiracy ideas.
Also, since you forgot, Itsuka Kendo in MHA has the quirk big hands. In my story, she was All Might's successor and the daughter of an alien who tried to destroy the Earth.
I also don't like the idea that Petrosapiens can telekinetically control their crystals. We only saw it once, and never again so I plan to leave it like that.
MrMateusz: Same reason why people are paranoid of Men in Black, not the movie the actual stories and rumors of secret government agencies revolving around aliens doing super sketchy stuff.
Whywouldidothat2230: I appreciate the recommendations and the extra list! I don't know if there's enough time for Kota to get and explore all of the features he has but I'll see what I can fit.
