Elena was worried about Stefan, news of his ripper state was making the news and that was dangerous. Jasper walked up behind Elena and set his hand on her shoulder. Jasper hadn't told Elena about them being mates. He didn't want to upset her more at this time. It hurt him to not be near her, but he would suffer. Elena was so new to being a vampire, that she didn't realize what her feelings were right now. There was so much for her to conquer before she could even think about being with another person. Or that is how Jasper saw it.

"Jazz… he's out there… killing people because he thought I died. He won't come back no matter how many times Damon calls him." Elena said, her arms hugged tight around her body.

"I wish there was something I could say to help you feel less anxious and sad." Jasper murmured. "Do you want me to go find him and bring him back?" He asked, his chest feeling tight. He didn't want to bring back Stefan. The strange thing about vampire mates, was that even though they were mated, he would always be drawn to her and always love her indefinitely, because Elena was a new vampire, it would take time for her to figure out her feelings.

Elena felt the weight of Jasper's hand on her shoulder. The past couple months, Jasper has been a great help. She felt at ease with him. It was odd, the way Jasper made her feel. She felt so unbelievably safe with him. When she saw Jasper, the worry of Stefan dissipated and Stefan was just an afterthought and that was confusing for her. She turned and looked at Jasper, her body vibrating slightly from where his hand had been on her shoulder. "Jazz…"She murmured, staring up into his wonderful honey glazed eyes. She felt a connection to Jasper and these feelings rising in her, couldn't be explained, at least logically. She loved Stefan. Or… she did… she wasn't sure what she was meant to feel, but right now, looking up at Jasper, she just wanted… to feel safe… wanted. She tipped up, her lips softly brushing Jasper's. It was simple, but it felt like waves of passion crashed against Elena. That everything else in the world didn't matter as much as Jasper did right now to her.

Jasper felt the mate bond starting to take it's hold the moment Elena's lips touched his. It stole his breath away and tears came to his eyes immediately. He didn't realize how much he needed her to do this. That he needed her to just acknowledge him in this way. "Elena…"he breathed out against her lips.

"I don't understand…"Elena said and then she kissed him again, this time a little harder, welcoming the sizzling electricity that seemingly flowed through both of them. Who was Stefan again? Her feelings started taking hold, the confusion of Jasper and Stefan was melting away.

Jasper's hands moved to her waist to hold her against him like she was, pressed against him now, her small body felt so nice against his hard one. His lips parted and she was the one to swipe her tongue across to meet his. The intensity of the kissing continued to climb and his heart started to beat a little faster, excitement filling him. He felt Elena's hands on his face and he pulled back to stare back down at her. "Elena…"

"Why?"

Jasper swallowed. "You're my mate Elena."

Understanding crossed Elena's face now. "Oh. That's why… I felt…"she drifted off, thinking. "How long have you known?"

"The moment Edward snapped your neck and I carried you to the couch. The moment my hands touched your dead body… I knew. I knew that your were my mate."

"And you didn't tell me until now?" Elena was shocked.

"Everything with Stefan… him flipping his switch and taking off. I… I didn't want to upset you more. I would never dream of upsetting you. Then Bella and the Quints, it just… nothing was ever the right time." Jasper explained, but he looked at her, worried that he had upset her anyways despite him wanting to avoid that.

Elena was thinking, her hands moved down over his chest, feeling how hard his chest was, and she knew that he was strong, stronger than she could ever imagine of being even if she was a vampire now. "Jasper…"

"Elena…"Jasper murmured.

"Don't bring him back." Elena said, her dark eyes sweeping back up to meet his. "I… I can't explain it… other than now, it makes more sense because of the mating bond, but… I don't want him. I only want to be like this… with you."

Jasper leaned in and kissed her fiercely. That was the best thing she could have told him. The passion was very clear as his lips continued to taste hers. They were close to just pulling each others clothes off right now, but he heard someone clear their throat and it forced him to pull away from the kiss. His honey eyes moved to look at Damon, who was looking amused. They were at the boarding house afterall.

"So, this…"Damon motioned between Elena and Jasper. "This is real?"

Elena blushed a little. "Damon I-"

"Jasper is your mate. I knew he was by the way he stared after you so longingly." Damon said and moved to pour some bourbon. "Elena, you deserve to be happy. Stefan is an idiot. I can say that from experience. Flipping your switch is a bitch move and I'll be the first to admit that I was a bitch when I flipped my switch."

"Do you think he'll ever realize his mistake?" Jasper asked.

Damon took a long drink of his bourbon. "Maybe. It took him fifty years to realize it the first time. He flipped his switch after he killed our father and… other Salvatore family. Went on a blood binge. Came to in 1910 only to flip it again for some reason in 1920." He shrugged. "I've flipped my switch a couple times, but… I don't go on a binder like he does. Obviously. He's the ripper for a reason."

"We should stop him… right?" Elena asked.

"Hmm. Yes, I should stop him. There is no we. He's my brother, I'll deal with him. I've got some friends looking into his movements. He's in New Orleans at the moment. I'll go down here, force him back and lock him in the dungeon until I can get him to flip his switch back." Damon said with a motion of his hand. He looked up at Elijah when he walked in. "Hmm. Just the original brother I needed to see."

"Damon. One of my witch friends in New Orleans has Stefan subdued for now. If we leave now, we can get there and drag him back before more damage is done."

"Excellent." Damon said and tossed the rest of his bourbon back. "Let's go. Oh, Elena, when I get him back. This mate bond thing with Jasper, don't… tell him. I need him to want to turn his switch on and he won't want to if he knows."

Elena looked at Jasper and then nodded. "Okay. I just don't want him to kill more people. Be careful." She said and watched Damon leave with Elijah.

Jasper ran a hand down her arm and then laced his fingers with hers. "Are you okay?"

"Yeah. It doesn't matter right? I told you I didn't want you to bring him back, but Damon is… I don't want more people to suffer… it was selfish of me to say… to say I didn't want him back. What is wrong with me?"

"Nothing is wrong with you." Jasper said softly. "Darlin' Stefan will always be important to you. He is your first love." Jasper said and then brought his hand up to brush her hair back from her face and to caress her cheek. "I know that there are a lot of things you have to overcome as a new vampire and I am incredibly patient. I will wait for you, forever. This bond we have, it's for eternity. I love you. I will never be able to love another person. I will never be able to physically touch another woman without pain. The same will be for you and that is something you will have to overcome, but just know I am always here, one hundred percent and I am in your corner. Forever." He said and then she nodded and leaned against him, her head laying on his chest. His arms came around her and he held her, kissing the top of her head and just closed his eyes as he thought about the challenges that Elena would have to face.
