All Taylor remembered was the moment she went inside the old television station with Paul, when her mind finally caught up to her, she found herself somewhere else, but there was more to it than that, she couldn't shake the feeling that she was being called.

For what reason, she didn't know, only that it had something to do with the building they're in, and whenever she tried reaching out to Paul, it was as though something prevented her.

Even more strange, she was somehow separated from them, and no matter how many times she tried, Taylor couldn't locate either Paul or the Jabberwockies.

Whenever she tried to return to the front of the building to try and sweep the rooms, her legs refused to move from their spot, physically refusing to let her stray from an unseen path.

In the darkness, forced by an unseen force, Taylor walked towards a door that opened with ease.

Coming down the stairs to what appeared to be the basement, Taylor's was greeted solely by the darkness.

Her hands outstretched; Taylor felt the shelves filled with abandoned equipment left to collect dust as no one sought to claim them from the darkened basement, out of fear of anything using the basement as its dwellings.

It was silent as a grave in the basement, only her footsteps provided any audible sounds as she slowly made her way around the labyrinth of shelves, her hands feeling different fabrics to cameras and wiring as she slowly moved her feet to avoid some wires left on the ground.

Her feet weren't letting her turn back and kept forcing her onward towards the end of where she was jolted by the sight.

Instantly, Taylor knew it was Cybermen in design, and fear washed over her face as Paul was correct in his belief that one of the species was here on the planet.

Her emerald eyes quickly moving around the darkened basement, Taylor's heart started beating against her chest as she attempted to flee from the sight, yet her body wouldn't listen to what her mind was yelling.

Out of a nightmare, Taylor's legs forced her forward towards the structure at the end of the basement.

Only able to control the movement of her emerald eyes, Taylor panicked as she searched for the Cybermen that would become alerted from her presence, but they never appeared.

Taylor stopped short of the object and her emerald eyes saw it with clarity.

Like a large cube with chains, but with the Cyberman veneer, Taylor questioned what purpose it held, and it was then she began hearing the murmurs once again, seemingly emitting from the cube.

It sounded like a quiet plea, someone wanting her help, but as she looked over the object, she couldn't see inside it, much less know what it was inside, but the murmurs were insistent.

"I don't… I don't know how…" Taylor managed to say as she wouldn't know how to help the voice, this wasn't like other Cybermen technology that she and Paul dealt with over the years.

Her hands suddenly became outstretched like something guiding them and Taylor watched as they moved along the object that felt frightfully cold under her palms.

Silently, her hands seemingly knew what they were doing as they interfaced an unseen panel on the object.

When it was done, Taylor's arms fell to her side, and the object started splitting down the sides, an intense blue light bleeding out as the chains started wavering with energy as they began making clanking noises.

The intensity of the blue light was too much for Taylor and her eyes instinctively closed to protect themselves from the harsh light.

Audibly the chains broke apart and the cube-like object made shifting noises as it began unlocking, continuing to enshroud the basement in the blinding light.

"Miss… Taylor…" she heard a man's voice call out to her.

Still unable to open her eyes as she felt the blinding light on her, Taylor responded with, "Who… who are you…?"

She heard back a stilted, "Someone… who had been… waiting… for so long… to see you…"

Baffled, Taylor asks, "W-why?"

Her eyes opened by themselves, and Taylor sees the man standing in front of her with the opened cube behind him.

Pale skin with black veins pushing against it, black short peppery hair, fine lines, a navy-blue suit with a white dress shirt and red tie and illuminating blue eyes.

"It's… been… shall we say… an interesting… time… Miss… Taylor," the man admits as he spoke with her.

The way he spoke, it was like he knew Taylor, but she didn't know him.

"I… I don't know you," Taylor couldn't recall anything that could help her jog her memory.

The strange man understood this, before explaining that people held rather interesting views about him.

"I'm… some call… a demon… others call me… an angel," the strange man explained.

Recoiling in her spot, Taylor inquired how the strange man came about becoming ensnared by the Cybermen, and he informed her that they were trying to capture him, but they failed.

"Why did they capture you?" Taylor questioned what the strange man did to warrant the Cybermen capturing him, and he echoed, "A… demon to some…"

The way he sounded, it was though English wasn't his first language and he was translating as he went, something Taylor saw when she was learning different languages at the university.

However, despite this, Taylor understood what he was saying.

Whatever he had done set off the Cybermen so strongly that they captured him.

"They plunged an entire planet into darkness for… you?" Taylor became baffled at the extent the Cybermen went to ensure that the strange man would remain captured.

… and Taylor just undid everything.

His thin lips contorting into a smile, the strange man tells Taylor, "They did not… understand… what they were… dealing with…"

In truth, this was their latest desperate attempt, and were weakened extensively from his cunning ways, the Cybermen effectively assured this meeting would happen.

"A… meeting… w-with who?" Taylor couldn't believe plunging a planet in darkness for years was a means to end for the strange man to obtain a meeting with someone and watches as he pointed towards her as he explained that he wanted to have a meeting with her.

Her emerald eyes focused on the strange man, Taylor gestures as she exasperated that he could have done everything differently to meet with her, starting with picking up a phone.

However, it was more nuanced than that, as the strange man admitted that he had to make sure everything went according to plan before he could chance the meeting.

The way it sounded, it was like he had been planning this for ages, and he confirmed this by stating that he had been watching Taylor for some time now, underneath his stilted speech was veiled urgency.

"Why were you watching me?" Taylor demanded to know why, but he refused to tell her, instead telling her that he had also been protecting her, as well, and underneath the veiled urgency she could sense hidden morose.

Who is this man?

Who or what was he protecting her from?

He never told her.

"Things are… moving… faster… than I… anticipated…" the strange man grew displeased as he shook his head.

The area around them shifted as the strange man showed Taylor an old, weathered grandfather clock where the Cybermen prison was standing, and he pointed at the clock face.

Looking up at it, Taylor sees the clock hands moving faster than normal until they stopped precisely at 12:00.

"My… dear… Taylor… I wish… things would be… different… but there were things… I could not… change…" the strange man's face turned solemn as he expressed failure for not doing more, but without context, Taylor wasn't sure how to respond.

Seeing him this way, Taylor attempted to comfort him, but she could not move her arms, and could only watch as the area shifted from the grandfather clock to what looked like an underground tunnel with a waterway straight down the centre.

Like a flash, it disappeared, and they're back in the basement.

"Well… I'm here… y-you can talk to me, now," Taylor gestures as she points out that the strange man got what he wanted, now he can talk to her, but it'd appear there's more to it than just talking as he showed her a brief minute of an underground tunnel.

Slowly nodding, the strange man acknowledged that he could, but he admitted, "Time… does not… wait… my… dear… Taylor."

He did everything he could to get the meeting he wanted, but that didn't mean he could have all the time he wanted, it wasn't possible, and he had to account for that when he went through the efforts.

"When the… time comes… I hope you… understand," the strange man said to her when they heard the mechanical movements of a Cyberman coming down into the basement with its arm outstretched.

"The holding!" It cried out with its monotonous voice.

Feeling movement return Taylor sharply turned around to face the Cyberman, but the strange man stood in front of her, like he was protecting her.

Annoyance in those blue illuminating eyes, the strange man goes, "I'll see… about that…"

The Cybermen that Taylor hadn't seen in the dark basement, frozen in place by the strange man, reanimated as they took aim at the singular Cyberman while it took aim against the strange man.

Electric energy shot through the air as the pair of Cybermen shot at the singular Cyberman, but Taylor didn't see the electric energy come towards her or the strange man, when she hesitantly stretched her neck out to look over his shoulder, she sees the electric energy suspended in the air.

A flick of the wrist, the strange man sent it back to the singular Cyberman, destroying it completely.

When the pair of Cybermen turned on them, the strange man flicked his wrist once again, sending the Cybermen to turn on each other, causing them to destroy each other before they were able to stop themselves.

Unable to see the carnage in the darkness, Taylor could smell the burning metals from the energies melting the Cybermen chassis.

"I will… see you… again… my dear… Taylor…" she heard the strange man say to her.

Her eyes reflexively closed when lights in the basement began functioning and it took time for them to adjust, but when they did, the strange man wasn't standing in front of her, and she could see the Cybermen clearly.

There were footsteps coming from the staircase leading down and Taylor sees Paul running ahead of the bewildered Jabberwockies as there's terror in his angel eyes as he sees the collapsed heap of the former Cyberman on the ground before him before seeing the others.

"Grace!" Paul instantly wrapped his arms around her tightly as he exhaled sharply.

Their weapons trained; the Jabberwockies were in disbelief at the sight of the destroyed Cybermen.

Feeling his warmth, Grace exhales sharply as she reciprocates Paul's hug before hearing him sternly say, "Grace, my love, you need to communicate better!"

His anger born of worry; Paul held her close.

"How on earth could a woman like you destroy three of the bastards?" Lordon questioned how Taylor could have the Cybermen destroyed on her own.

Feeling Paul releasing his grip on her, Taylor responds with a feeble, "It's not the first time we dealt with their like, Mr. Lordon."

Scattering around the basement taking point, the Jabberwockies did not find anything the Cyberman that surprised them mentioned, no type of holding anywhere, and it only made them irate that the Cybermen have kept their planet in the darkness for no reason.

Turning her head slightly, Taylor's emerald eyes couldn't locate the cube that held the strange man.

Like that, it was gone, and when Paul asks her what she was doing in the basement, she felt words leave her mouth that she wasn't thinking about saying, and they were enough for Paul to accept as the truth, even if Taylor wasn't wittingly saying them.

"What are we supposed to do, now?" Lordon questioned Paul as they're left without answers and only more questions.

Rubbing his eyes, Paul promised that he would keep working to find an answer, but it would be best if they took their leave, now, nothing good could come of staying here.

"What about these things?" One of the Jabberwockies asks, and Paul urged them not to take anything from the Cybermen, as he warned they had a habit of having ways of converting victims despite them being destroyed.

Quickly, he went around using his Sonic Screwdriver on them to be sure that they weren't transmitting their locations and disabling any protocols that'd result in newly converted Cybermen roaming the planet.

Still, it wasn't wise to use anything from the Cybermen, believe Paul when he warned that nothing good would come of it, and the last thing Lordon and his Jabberwockies wanted were more trouble to deal with.

Unhappy about the waste of time, Lordon gave his commands and the Jabberwockies retreated from the basement with Paul and Taylor trailing behind.

With their collected loot from the old television station, Lordon and the Jabberwockies headed outside, wanting to return to their home, where they were stopped by a sight that they hadn't saw in years.

Peeking through the darkness, they could make out some sort of light.

"My god!" Lordon shouted in shock as he saw the darkness slowly retreating from the skies.

Excitement from the group as they're witnessing the slow end of the darkness that plagued them for years, the Jabberwockies wanted to cheer, but Lordon reminded them that they were still vulnerable.

Recollected in his thoughts, Lordon led them back.

Upon returning, they see the peachy colour bleeding through the darkness.

Hearing this sent everyone hiding in the windowless buildings into a frenzy as they were excited about not having to hide anymore.

Ollie was ecstatic himself as he began helping the others prepare for the return of sunlight.

He projected that it would take a while before things returned to normal and the ecology to re-adapt to the sunlight.

While the dangers will remain present for the foreseeable future, he believed that eventually, things will stablise.

There's already work to help with adjusting people's eyes to the sunlight and help correcting any issues that may arise, but Ollie remained hopeful.

The darkness was slowly peeling back more when Paul and Taylor took their leave, Lordon and his Jabberwockies walked with them back to the TARDIS as the Jabberwockies marveled at the sight of the skies behind the darkness.

Shaking Paul and Taylor's hands while thanking them profusely, Lordon exhales as he thought this day would never happen.

Smiling at him, Paul modestly explained that it was what he and Taylor do for others, but Lordon wouldn't hear it, as he says, "If anyone told me that our nightmare would be over after today last week, I'd smack them silly!"

With proof in front of him, Lordon couldn't wait to see the planet in its natural beauty with clarity, again.

"But something I don't get, what were they doing here?" Lordon couldn't understand what drove the Cybermen to come here.

Paul gave his best guess, but truthfully, he didn't know for sure, they didn't find anything resembling the holding that the Cyberman was talking about.

Regardless, there were no reasons to fear about reoccurring Cybermen, so Lordon and the others shouldn't have to worry.

Regarding the disposed Cybermen in the basement, Ollie promised to deal with them so no one would get any ideas.

Once they said their final goodbyes, Paul and Taylor disappeared into the TARDIS and it faded away.

"How could you have gotten to the basement without any of us noticing?" Paul crossed his arms as he grew curious how Taylor ended up in the basement without him and the Jabberwockies noticing.

Leaning against the railings, Taylor struggled for words as she admits that she doesn't know.

One minute she was with Paul and the next she was in the basement.

"Grace, I couldn't reach you," Paul brought up how he failed to communicate with her via telepathy and she admitted that she was aware how worried he was, but she couldn't explain it, herself.

It baffled her as much as it baffled him.

Exhaling sharply as he came towards her, Paul says, "I'm just glad you're all right."

Pulling her close to him, Paul stroked her ruby red hair with strands of blond as she rested her head on his chest, hearing his two hearts beating.

But that was crazy, she knew what happened, she saw everything, talked to that strange man, but despite her fighting against it, something was keeping her from telling Paul this, and clever enough that he couldn't discover it when he reached her with his telepathy.
