"Ho!" Albert shouts as the horses moved along the mud path leading into the new colony founded some time ago, Jamestown, already work was underway expanding it further into the mainland and gaining traction with colonists from the north.

Wheels squeaking as they rolled over the uneven mud paths, the enclosed carriage stiffly bobbed as the horses pulled it to one of the built inns that became popular for travelers as of recent.

Slowly the horses came to a stop in front of the inn, a man sat on one of the rocking chairs near the entrance stood up as he came over to Albert.

"'Ello, Bert, who we got this time?" Royce inquired what new guests had arrived at their budding colony and Albert remarked that this one was a first for him as he stepped down from the carriage before walking around to the carriage door.

Unbuckling the carriage door, the carriage rider pulls the door open, revealing a couple.

"'Ere we are! Welcome to Jamestown!" Albert introduced the couple to the colony as he helped the woman down first.

Her modest stitched dress hardly moved as she stepped down with Albert's aid, her ruby red hair tied back in a tight bun stiffly moves as she turned her head to look at Albert while she thanked him.

Moving aside, the woman waited for her companion and Albert helped the man down from the carriage wearing a forest green long coat with a brown leather messenger bag hung over it.

"You got any luggage?" Royce asks if the couple needed help bringing in any luggage and learnt that they didn't bring any with them.

Hence, Albert's comment about them being the first for him.

"No luggage?" Royce became baffled, but Paul explained that they didn't get a chance to pack, they were in a rush.

Baffled, Royce struggled to comment, before Albert reminded him that he had to head out, others were inbound, as he says, before climbing back up to the front of the carriage and holding the reigns.

A command and the horses pulled the carriage away from the inn, leaving the couple with Royce as he brought them inside the inn to be signed in by his wife, Mary.

"Oh! Lovely! Yes, this has been quite a popular destination, lately!" Mary chirped as she pulled on her large bow around her waist before heading around the counter to retrieve the sign-in book.

A friendly smile by the man, he inquires more about Jamestown, and she regaled the stories and history while he and his companion wrote their names into the book.

Once she finished and they wrote their names, Mary pulled the book to glance only to become miffed as she glances up, "The Doctor?"

Still smiling, the man explains that he wanted to keep things easy, hence he was only going by that, but Mary questions this as it roused Royce's interest in the dodgy answer.

"Oh, what he means is he's embarrassed by his name," they heard his companion, Taylor, explain why he hesitated to use his real name.

His smile went away as he was exasperated that he was deathly annoyed by his name that he wanted nothing more than to burn in a fire, alas he could not.

It was enough to ease Royce as he mentioned he had a half-brother named Pippin in London, Ontario, so it wasn't the first time he heard of embarrassing names.

The man could tell Royce remained cautious, though given this was still an early period, suspicion ran rampant.

However, the payment for the room was enough for him to stifle any accusations for the time being.

Satisfied with the money payment, Mary ushered Royce into bringing them to their room, and he obliged her to bring them up to the first floor.

Going to the end of the corridor, Royce opened the door for the couple, and handed the man the key before heading back down to wait for any new arrivals.

"Jamestown," Taylor murmured to herself as she went around the room with every amenity of the time.

She hears Paul plopping on the stiff bed and as he sat on it, he goes, "One of the world's mysteries, Grace."

Having known the story of Jamestown since they were younger, the couple found themselves at the time when it allegedly turned into a ghost town.

Historians remained unsure what happened, some became convinced of their theories, but no one was ever sure what happened.

And Paul and Taylor will be the only witnesses.

Granted, this wasn't the Jamestown they knew, a different one, but it was the same as theirs, that the TARDIS sought out.

For what reason, they don't know, neither did the TARDIS, but it was enough for it to bring them here, so here they were investigating.

It sounded troubling that Paul shuddered what was in store for them, considering the TARDIS was very much concerned that it was fully prepared to spirit them away the moment things grew hectic.

Didn't like the sound of that.

With nothing to go off of and their efforts limited due to the time they're in, the couple had to work with what they had, and do as the Romans did to blend in with the natives while investigating the reason for their appearance.

"Comfortable?" Taylor quips as she sees Paul struggling as he sits on the bed with tight ropes underneath.

Shaking his head, Paul admits, "I like hard beds, but this is beyond hard!"

Still, he'll make do with it, after all, he had company to keep his mind off how uncomfortable the bed was, as he pulled Taylor towards him.

His arms around her, Taylor giggles as they share a quick kiss.

The couple proceeded to go downstairs and ask Mary about anything they should visit while in Jamestown and she proceeded to list everything that she could think of that would interest them.

Thanking her, the couple took their leave from the inn and stepped out into the colony proper.

Bustling with colonists as they worked to make the colony a proper town, not a care or woe in the world as they envisioned the colony's future, but for Paul and Taylor, they knew the possible future, but they didn't know this one.

"There's a reason we're here," Paul's angel eyes moved as he glances at every individual outside before he interlocked his arm with Taylor's and walked with her as they set about their adventure.
