Going through the darkened tunnel with only the light coming from Paul's Sonic Screwdriver, the four found that the tunnel had a cold air about it that felt unnatural.

Bumble confirmed that it was unnaturally cold due to a disturbance that she can't discern with her scanners, Cappy and Paul concluding it's the work of the Dalek.

The telekinetic being hadn't attacked them, again, however Cappy feared that it's biding its time before striking, again.

Paul believed that if the Dalek hadn't been destroyed, yet, it's keeping the telekinetic being at bay while trying to subdue it.

Haven't found it or the crushed remains, so there's a possibility that he was correct.

As they're deeper in the tunnel, the four noticed that the tunnel behind them became suddenly sealed without them noticing.

The telekinetic being was making sure they couldn't double back to the hole, forcing them to follow the tunnel to wherever it wanted them to go, which is further down into the earth.

Having spent centuries fighting wars, Cappy plotted how they'll deal with it, knowing fully well that their situation can change on a whim.

Even with the disadvantage, Cappy had the greatest weapon that a Time Lord can have in his arsenal: his mind.

Having trained since a lad in the grassy knolls, Cappy honed and perfected his telepathic prowess among his peers, ripping apart the Dalek minds effortlessly during their battles, he remembered the teachings well, that even if this was a different being, he can still inflict a painful death if forced.

It caused curiosity about how much Paul honed his telepathic skills that Cappy inquiries about it only to be disappointed when Paul replies that he only knew as much as his father taught him.

The more Paul talked, instantly, Cappy goes, "Hammonix. I remember when he was a small lad that got himself into more trouble with his sister than he did actually learning anything."

Having not heard much about his great-grandmother, Paul inquiries about her, and Cappy responded by describing the shenanigans that she and his late great uncle got into while growing up when the planet was green.

Hearing how adventurous his great-grandmother was, Paul muses how he inherited her spirit, and Cappy affirmed with a nod as he added that it was amusing how she married one of the most studious of students after graduation.

Yet, somehow, it worked, and well, Paul knew the rest.

"My grandfather never said much about them sir, I can't imagine how hard it was after losing them in the war," Paul mentioned how through his father, his grandfather never spoke about his own parents much, and Cappy frowns as he mentioned it wasn't surprising considering how the Time War wore everyone down to cinder.

Children becoming orphaned and raised by their closest relatives, if none found then they were corralled under one roof until they reached maturation, Paul's grandfather was one of the lucky ones being raised by his uncle, and Paul learnt how Hamon took care of the other orphans when the war raged, giving them shelter during the bombings.

Received a medal of valor for his part.

"Oh, the types of food we created," Cappy fondly remembered what dishes were born out of necessity during the war, made with what was found.

Curiosity got the better of Taylor when she asked about the dishes.

She recoiled when Cappy fondly described one of the dishes on Gallifrey that kept the orphans healthy during the war.

Liver soup.

Nutrient deficiency being a fear during that time, the Council ruled that nothing went to waste, everything sustained the populace, by any means, thus created the liver soup that prevented iron deficiencies among the orphaned children.

Before Cappy left it was still eaten as a reminder of the difficult period in time.

"My father still makes it," Paul mentioned his father learning the recipe from his uncle and father.

It's an acquired taste to be sure, but it had a nostalgia appeal to his father.

Not so much for his mother, but that's to be expected.

Bumble spoke up, mentioning that she's picking up something on her scanners as they're nearing the end of the tunnel with the way back closed-off, coming towards the mouth that opened out into a large cavern being held up by the telekinetic being lingering nearby.

She raised concerns how long the being can handle doing this, the concerns of it attaining a brain aneurysm for doing so, but Cappy told her that he believed that this was an ancient being of some sort, given how it handled this for so long, capable of closing off the way they came without risking collapsing the tunnel ahead of them.

"How'd a Dalek capture it, then?" Bumble questioned what the Dalek must've done for the chance of capturing the being and as they moved around the cavern, Cappy guessed that the Dalek learnt from the failures of its forefathers.

Now, for the fun part as they're shrouded in the blue light of the Sonic Screwdriver, deciding what they should do with the being.

It hadn't tried killing them, guiding them more like, and with the presence of the Dalek, potentially it's seeking their help.

"Cease!" They're stopped when a booming voice echoed throughout the cavern.

His angel eyes darting around, the alarmed Paul pulled Taylor behind him as he wielded his Sonic Screwdriver ahead of him.

A blinding light flashed before the four, causing Paul's eyes to reflexively close, when he opened them, again, he's stunned at the sight.

Taylor couldn't help but let out a squeak as she clung to Paul with her emerald eyes making out the shape of a mass of grey flesh with different sets of eyes, mouths on every side, ears in different spots, slithering purple tentacles bound to the electrified tubbing, any attempts of moving them resulted in controlled shocks.

"Doc… tor!" Paul that all too-familiar robotic screech as his angel eyes widened.

Bumble was about to open fire, but Cappy warned against it, else the creature might send the bullets back on them, and she's forced to watch as something came towards them.

Adorned in gold and red with carvings in the chassis, the Dalek came towards them, and instantly it spoke, "You. Have. Come. Doc-tor!"

Familiarly towards him, the Dalek then said, "You. Have. Been. Seeking. Us."

His angel eyes widening, Paul recoils before he affirmed with, "I am. Who are you?"

He heard a droning, "Dalek Thorn."

Leader of the Thorn Sect.

"You know this one?" Cappy turns his head towards Paul.

Slowly nodding, Paul admitted that he had been looking for the sect for a while, now, and here they were talking to the Dalek leading it.

Furrowing his brow at the Dalek, Cappy goes, "Since when have those fiends learnt a thing or two about books?"

Programmed to protect him, Bumble kept an arm over him as she kept one pointed at the Dalek as she answers, "Not enough!"

Dalek Thorn slowly moved its eye stock as it spoke to them and the more it did, the more Cappy came to learn just how smart this Dalek was compared to the ones he fought in the war.

"We. Knew. You. Would. Come," Dalek Thorn moved its eye stock towards Paul.

Swallowing air trapped in his throat, Paul spoke up with, "Then you know what I am seeking."

For the first time since they been fighting against Daleks, Dalek Thorn did something that no Dalek have done before, it laughed.

Laughed!

A Dalek!

Laughing!

Almost pinched himself to see if they're in a dream, but no, they're in a waking nightmare.

"We. Know. We. Waited," Dalek Thorn says to him.

Crossing his arms, Cappy refused to believe that the Dalek went through the effort of planning just for the chance that Paul would turn up, and Dalek Thorn admitted that it was mostly chance.

It never intended coming here to begin with, but circumstances brought it and its experiment here, didn't think it would lead to the infamous Doctor to make an appearance, more, one of the most feared Time Lords in Dalek history.

"Should I feel honoured?" Cappy narrowed his cyan eyes on the Dalek and Bumble answers with, "You're a living nightmare to them, boss."

Several of Time Lords felled in the Time War and the few that survived like Cappy are nightmares spoken to Daleks alike to make them angry and frightened and angry that they're frightened.

Clearing his throat, Paul speaks up with, "I'm here and I want my answers, Dalek Thorn, give them to me and I will promise that you… and this thing… will be removed from the planet unharmed, provided you promise never to come here, again, and scramble your coordinates."

His desire for answers drove him into bargaining with the Dalek and the Dalek laughing at this sent chills down his spine.

"You. Want. To. Barter?" Dalek Thorn cheekily says.
