Standing firm, Paul demanded the Dalek tell him what he needed to know, and it then asked what it would get in return, only for Cappy to utter, "Your life, cur!"

The Dalek was amused by Cappy's staunch stance, saying that he lived up to the legends among its people.

Pointing at it, Cappy warned in a low voice, "I'm still capable of living up to them."

He might not have the traditional weapons, but Cappy practiced and perfected the weapons that he found and created on Earth.

There's a reason Daleks came to fear him during the war.

Despite this, Dalek Thorn was not at all frightened of him or Paul, either by ignorance, or something more.

"You. Want. Answers. Earn. THEM!" Dalek Thorn challenged Paul.

If he wanted his answers, he'd have to do something for Dalek Thorn, causing him to urge the Dalek to reconsider, that if it agreed to leave with its experiment without causing more harm, it would be the end of it.

However, the Dalek showed little interest as it then boldly stated, "Without. Me. You. Will. Ne-ver. Get. Your. An-swers!"

Harm it, it will self-detonate.

Capture it, it will also self-detonate.

Using what it knows against him, Dalek Thorn didn't hesitate threatening Paul that anything happen to it would result in his efforts finding it null.

"I. Am. The. Last!" Dalek Thorn revealed how it was the last of its sect, the others subsequently annihilated, but said nothing more on the matter.

Stunned, Paul tried to find out what happened to the others, but Dalek Thorn grew cagey as it refused to tell him what befell its brethren.

"What do you want?" Paul bit on his inner lip as the Dalek played on his desperation for those answers.

Cappy interrupted his thoughts by telepathically reminding him that Daleks were never trustworthy and that the Dalek would lie to him to get what it wants.

"I need those answers!" Paul stressed his reasonings to Cappy.

Subtly eying him, Cappy stressed himself that they shouldn't believe a word the Dalek said, before asking why Paul would risk his life in hopes for the answers.

Shaking his head in disproval, Cappy inquires more why Paul was desperate for those answers, and it was then Paul told him, "They were chasing someone I thought was dead."

That was that for the conversation as the Dalek toyed with the idea of having its experiment throw Taylor into its maw and see what it formulated, causing Paul to speak up, "You want something from me, too, Dalek, so spit it out!"

Amused by his outburst, Dalek Thorn coldly told him what it wanted from him, "The. One. Who. Killed. Them. Is. After. Me."

Having escaped the assassin, Dalek Thorn fled into space, before inevitably ending up on earth, but it grew concerned that its assassin will not rest until it is dead.

"Wh-who killed them?" Taylor felt air trapped in her throat as she forced herself to ask the Dalek.

Bumble retorts, "Not a very good assassin, this one's still alive!"

Turning its body away from them towards its experiment, Dalek Thorn cryptically said, "Earn. Your. Answers."

Protect it from the would-be assassin and it will tell them everything they wanted to know, but until then, its unseen lips are sealed.

And no amount of mental torture by Cappy would make it say anything.

"Why not use your experiment to protect you?" Cappy pointed at the massive heap of flesh as unfixed eyes stared into yonder.

The Dalek nonchalantly told him, "I. Have. You."

While its experiment had been successful to some degree, it can't do much against the assassin, and Dalek Thorn reflected its decision by open firing on the mound of flesh.

The air filled with burning flesh as the creature howled in pain, incoherent voices emitted from the burning mound of flesh as the tendrils convulsed, incapable of escaping the rods as electricity went through them, further ensuring that it died a painful death.

"Telekinesis wasn't useful, enough?" Cappy narrows his eyes on the Dalek as it turned around to face them.

Heaps of burning flesh smoldered behind it as the creature's life withered before the four before the intact eyes rolled backwards.

The four waited for the cavern to collapse over them, the telekinesis ceasing when the creature expired, but the Dalek was smart enough to ensure that it has means of escaping the unexcavated cavern, its experiment was only useful to an extent.

Dalek Thorn responded with an annoyed, "It. Was. Not. Eno-ugh!"

Unfortunately, but not unexpected for the Dalek.

Setbacks happen all the time, however it was imperative that the Dalek have something to use against its perceived enemy.

"You killed those people!" Taylor retorted that the Dalek took lives to propagate the experiment, but it only laughed to her dismay.

Laughing at her dismay, Dalek Thorn informed her that science waited for no one, humans especially, and blamed the people for coming to the lumber mill for forcing its nonexistent hands into using them for its now-failed experiment.

"They. Served. Their. Purpose!" Dalek Thorn argued.

Shaking her head, Taylor retorted, "You only brought attention on yourself!"

People have noticed the odd disappearances around the lumber mill, if the Dalek was afraid of its assassin finding it sooner, having more attention drawn to the lumber mill definitely would ensure the assassin come this way out of curiosity.

"That. Is. Why. I. Have. Them!" Dalek Thorn stated in a long drone.

Feeling Paul pulling her away and behind him, she shared looks with him as they assessed their situation.

The Dalek was willing to kill its sole experiment, capable of using telekinesis, and use Paul and Cappy as its protectors instead, which while Daleks were known for their short-sightedness, the couple believed there was more to this than meets the eyes.

"And you didn't think your creature was capable of fighting them?" Paul calls out the Dalek for wasting lives for a creature it only killed when it no longer served any purpose, without a shred of irony, Dalek Thorn affirmed that the creature didn't have much intelligence to differentiate between the likes of Paul and his cohorts and the assassin.

Looking to Cappy for guidance, Bumble asked him, "What should I do, boss?"

His cyan eyes focused on Dalek Thorn, Cappy tells her, "Remember what I programmed you."
