"Hey Dad."

"Where's Livia? I need Livia. Put her on the phone."

Laying in bed with Olivia with her head on his chest finally asleep, Fitz was annoyed when her phone rang. Quickly grabbing it and seeing it was Jerry he answered it fast so it wouldn't wake her up. Fitz tried not to laugh at how fast he was talking and smirked.

"Hello Dad. Where's the fire?"

"Fitzgerald! Get me Olivia!" Jerry yelled at him.

"She's asleep. What's wrong with you? She will be awake in a few hours. The pain meds knocked her out cold. Something I can help you with?" Feeling her stir against him, he ran his fingers over her shoulder making her relax again and not wake up.

"Alright, fine. Just have her call me when she wakes up. I suppose if she's asleep then you are in bed with her?"

"She wasn't going to sleep otherwise. Is there another way she might be able to sleep without having someone in bed with her?"

Jerry let out a long sigh before he answered. "So far we've tried everything the doctors have advised, and nothing works. But don't worry, she will sleep while you're away for the week next month. Huck and I have that already worked out."

Fitz was really not happy about that idea. If it was just Huck coming over to spend the night with her that would be fine, but it was Jerry. It didn't sit right with him that his father was going to spend time with his girlfriend. No matter how Fitz tried to explain to himself that this was a benefit for Liv, he still didn't like the thought.

"Are you busy this weekend? I'd like to grab dinner with you," Fitz asked surprising Jerry.

"Oh, boy. What've I done this time?"

"Can't I just want to get dinner with you and have a civilized conversation?"

"You could but you don't. Wouldn't it be easier to yell at me over the phone where you could hang up on me instead? It's a little embarrassing being yelled at in person in front of people and then you walk away."

"That was one time, and I've apologized for it. I'm serious, though. I just want to have dinner and catch up."

"Alright. Friday night. I'll meet you at the steakhouse at 7."

"I'll see you then."

"But tell Livia she needs to call me the second she wakes up."

Putting her phone down, Fitz started to doze off wondering what was so important that only Liv could take care of for him. After a couple hours of sleep, Liv woke up to see Fitz asleep under her. She had come to love going to bed and waking up with him. Several times she had woken up to see Fitz staring at her, watching her sleep. Payback time. Resting her chin on his chest she watched him breathe as he slept. Ignoring her phone pinging several times she kept her eyes locked on him. Having heard the constant pings, Fitz finally woke seeing her stare at him.

"That's creepy," he smirked at her.

"Funny, you do it all the time. I was starting to think that's what normal people do."

"I'm not the one with the sleeping problem, dear, you are. I just try to make sure you stay asleep."

"Sure you were," she laughed as she sat up and grabbed her phone looking over the messages. "Work blew up. This is why I don't take recovery days."

"Well that's just too bad for work. I will go take care of whatever is happening there."

"Excuse me? Last I checked this was my phone. Did yours blow up?"

"No, but that doesn't mean that I can't do what you do."

Unable to hold back, she laughed so hard she doubled over and fell back on his chest. "Fitz, you could never do what I do. You don't have the patience for it."

"I could try."

"Alright, decipher the message," she told him handing her phone over.

"Code yellow. Moscow down. 72." Fitz read out loud to her. "Not sure what that is. But if you clued me into this game, I would know."

"Moscow's system has crashed and there may be a virus in the server. It should be back up and running in 72 hours."

"You got all that from those cryptic messages? I think you really are running some sort of spy organization."

"Nope, just a law firm all over the world. I'll teach you the codes if you'd like."

"Maybe another time. My dad needs you to call him for something. He sounded panicky when he called. While you call him, I'll go start on dinner," Fitz told her giving her a kiss and leaving the room.

Liv read the messages from Jerry to get an idea to what was wrong before she called him. "I'm not understanding the issue," she told him when he answered the phone.

"The issue is I don't know if I ask her to move in or propose first. If I propose first, will she want to move in immediately or stay in separate houses? If I ask her to move in will she move into the house in my bedroom or will she want her own room? And what kind of ring will she like? Does she even want a ring? And what size ring do I get her? How many carats? If we share a bedroom is she going to take over the closet? What if she doesn't want to move in and she wants to buy another house?" Jerry questioned her.

"You are over thinking this way too much. Verna will love whatever ring you get her or if you ask her to move in. She's a very simple lady. Extravagance isn't her thing. Have you talked about any of this with her?"

"I was supposed to talk to her about this? I didn't even think to ask her if she wanted to move in or get married. What if she says no? What if she doesn't want to move in or get married? What if she wants to break up?"

"You sound like a teenage girl right now. What do the two of you even talk about when you're together? Is she giving you some kind of clue to move forward?"

"A clue! The woman doesn't speak clue! She tells me straight forward what she wants. I want her to move in. I want to marry her. I'm so tired of this house being just me in it. Would you please tell me what to do?"

Getting up, Liv started to walk out to the kitchen while she continued talking. "You actually want me to tell you what to do? Have you ever done what I told you to do before?"

"Listen sassy, I need your help and you are the only woman I know who knows Verna almost as well as I do. Now what do I do?"

"What have you done on the last few dates?"

"We've watched movies. I've brought dinner over. We lounge in front of the tv on the couch all night until we fall asleep."

"What movies?"

"Last night we watched that Julia Roberts movie 'My Best Friend's Wedding'. The other night we watched 'Runaway Bride'. Last week we saw 'Our Family Wedding'. Tonight she wants to watch 'Our Family Wedding'. What does that have to do with anything?"

Olivia laughed at him and shook her head. "You are such an idiot! She's giving you all sorts of clues, Jerry. How can you be so blind not to see them?"

"She's making me watch all these movies with weddings… ohhh!"

"I can see the light bulb over your head from here."

"Then what kind of ring does she want? How big? Does she want a diamond? Does she want a ruby? What am I buying!"

"I'll come over tomorrow and we can go shopping. I'll help you pick one out. But you have got to relax. I'll talk to you tomorrow."

Just as Jerry was about to throw more questions out, she hung up on him and looked over at Fitz starting dinner.

"What are we having?"

"I'm making you eggs and bacon and toast. We need to go grocery shopping. What's wrong with my dad?"

"He's going to propose to Verna."

"Sorry, what?"

"He's going to ask Verna to marry him. I'm going to take him ring shopping tomorrow."

"I didn't think he'd ever get married again after the last time."

"Zena? He's beyond over her. Verna is the love of his life. He'll spend the rest of his life with her. Even if she says no, which she won't, he'd still be with her. Pretty sure that if she tried to kill him, he'd still love her. I guess love is stronger than any mistakes someone makes."

Fitz turned back to her, putting a plate in front of her on the counter. "You're pretty sure about this. What is she doesn't want to marry him?"

"They're watched wedding movies. She wants to marry him."

"Doubtful. She's seen too much of his crap. Don't all you women like to watch wedding movies anyway?"

"Not all of us. Some of us prefer hard action movies. Fitz, I will bet my Ferrari F8 Spider on these two getting married," she told him taking a bite of her food.

"Uh, run that buy me again? You, Olivia Pope, have a Ferrari?"

Shaking her head at him she gave him a curious look. "No. I have two Ferraris. Haven't you seen them when you come to work?"

"Wait a minute. I know what your pay is. How can you afford an F8 Spider and another one?"

"Are you going to get weird over money now? Come on, you have your own money. You have what you've worked for and then some."

"Yes, I have investments and some inheritance. But I'm also 50 years old. How can a 25-year-old afford two sports cars on the pay you get?"

"I have money. I'm well off. I save money."

"I've seen your closet, Livie. I don't think you could save money if your life depended on it."

"Well that's not fair. I've seen your house. Or what was your house. And I've seen your cars."

"You really aren't going to tell me? Liv, you know everything about me. I'm not going to be mad or anything. So well off? Are we talking five figures?" Fitz watched her take another bite. "Six figures?" Nothing again. "Seven figures? Eight figures?" Still she said nothing. "Nine? Ten?"

"FITZ!"

"Ten figures! Olivia! What the hell are you working for?" Finishing her food, she put the plate in the sink and went to the dining room looking at the calendars. "What are you doing?"

"Trying to figure out how soon this conversation can end. We both have to work in the morning so this might end by 8 am tomorrow."

"I'm just asking why you work when you have enough money to end hunger in Africa."

"Why do you work when you have enough money to end hunger in Africa?"

"Maybe D.C. but not Africa. Okay, alright, I get it, I'll stop asking." Standing at the counter, Fitz took a couple bites of his eggs and put his fork down. "Seriously, Livie! How are you that rich?"

"You are making a big deal out of nothing that is your business. I don't ask you how you got your money."

"Because you already know. Just tell me. We've been dating for a month and you never tell me anything. Does Jerry know that you're rich?"

"That's not fair! Jerry knows that I have money because he's seen me spend it. He doesn't know exactly how much."

"Well that makes me feel a bit better. Are you embarrassed to tell me or something?"

Rounding the table to him, she wrapped her arms around his neck and kissed him hard on his lips. "No I'm not. I don't want money to be an issue between us. There are plenty of other things that are going to be an issue for us."

"Did you rob a bank?"

Rolling her eyes, she let him go and smirked. "You think I can run in the heels I wear?"

"Hey, you run away from me in them quite often."

"Old money," she told him walking away to the living room.

"Old money from your grandparents?"

"I suppose. Honestly, I don't even know where it came from originally. My grandmother left it to me when she died. I'm the only grandchild she had. She didn't want my father having it. But it's been in the same bank account since the bank opened in 1799. I have other money too. What does that matter though? I work because I like to work. I like having a purpose to get out of bed every morning. No matter how fast I spend that money it just keeps growing. It will always be there."

"You should do something good with it."

"What makes you think I don't?"

"It's still there."

"I use that money to fund hospitals, build houses, feed the hungry, give scholarships, build schools, and many, many, many other things, Fitz. I'm not keeping that money for myself."

"Good," he smiled at her and came towards her on the couch. "So this Ferrari… I can drive it tomorrow to work?"
