"Four days is too long. Way too long to not actually see him."
"You facetimed him for three hours last night. And the night before that. And the night before that!"
Olivia waited with Cyrus at the airport for Fitz's plane to arrive back from Detroit and Cyrus's flight to be called. Thrilled she got to spend some quality time with Cyrus, she was more looking forward to Fitz coming home. Though trying to hide just how excited she was from Cyrus, she couldn't wait to take Fitz home and take him to bed. Their messages to each other had not been PG-13 for several days.
"That's different. That's not him being here in front of me. I can't touch him through the phone."
"LALALALALALA," Cyrus plugged his ears and turned away from her making her laugh at him. "Spare me the details! I heard enough this week. You and him can continue on with whatever kind of bedroom antics you want when I'm gone."
Pushing his arm to drop his hands from his ears, she smiled at him and blushed. "If I had known you were out of the shower you can guarantee that I wouldn't have said certain things." Liv laughed. "Besides it's not like you and Michael won't be having your own bedroom reunion soon."
"We are not having that conversation."
"Flight 624 to Miami, Florida is now boarding. Please make your way to the Gate 10," they heard the speaker announce.
"That's my cue," Cyrus smiled and stood up grabbing his bag. "You should come visit soon. You'll want some time away from everyone eventually."
"I'll try to find a few days in the schedule," Liv told him. "Thank you for staying with me this week. I appreciate it so much more than you know."
"Anytime kiddo. You're the only woman I sleep with," he laughed. "Try not to let Fitz change you too much. I love you just the way you are."
"He could never."
"And convince him that he needs to run please. We all know he has it in him to do the job. Maybe you are the missing piece he was looking for. Just give him a push. We all know he would be a perfect President."
Liv kissed his cheek and sent him away rolling her eyes. He's still married to a bat shit crazy drunk and you want him to run for president. Like he would ever take that on. Heading down to the gate that Fitz would arrive at, Liv grabbed a coffee and took a seat waiting for him. Still an hour away from his arrival time, taking her phone out to work on, immediately ringing in her hand.
Private number. Damn bill collectors. Hitting ignore and opening her email, the phone rang again. Same thing. Ignore. Taking a sip of her coffee, she tried again to view her emails when a text popped up. Answer the phone Liv. Within a couple seconds the phone rang again, annoyed she answered it.
"What?"
"That's how you're answering the phone now?"
Tensing up at the sound of his voice, Olivia gripped the phone tighter. "What do you want?"
"Fitz isn't answering the phone. I've been trying to get a date set for him on this divorce but it's hard to do when he doesn't answer and his assistant is refusing to answer the calls. I thought you were more professional than that, Liv."
"He's not going to answer your calls right now, he's on a plane, James. And I knew you would want to discuss his divorce to which he has asked me to stay away from. I'm respecting his wishes on that. So, anything you have to say can go straight to him. Leave him a voicemail, send a text, a carrier pigeon for all I care but do not call me again," Liv shouted at him ready to hang up.
She could hear him laugh on the other end, only making her angrier. "Damn, you are just as feisty as ever! You hold his schedule, you make his decisions of where and when to be somewhere. Calling you would only make sense when I need something done," James reminded her and sighed. "You used to do that for me. I miss you, Olivia. You should come over for another… rendezvous with me. Seeing you underneath me is always a pleasure. But so is seeing you dropped to your knees in front of me too."
Olivia sat in the corner of the waiting area at Fitz's gate, cringing hearing James Richards talk to her like he was. Turning her stomach inside out at any memory of him but especially those one. Ready to throw up, she held back the bile working it's way up her throat. "Do not EVER talk about that to me or to anyone else. I can still have you arrested for all the things you did to me."
"Honey, it ain't rape if you enjoyed it."
"Enjoyed it? You have a sick warped mind if you think what you did to me was consensual or that I liked any part of it." Lowering her voice, trying to also decrease her blood pressure, she took a deep breath and let it out slowly. "What do you need from Fitz?"
"A date and time for when he can make it into court. This alimony for Mellie is really going to cost him if he can't show me proof."
"I will call Nancy today and get a time set up with her. I'm serious James, do not ever call me again," Liv demanded and hung up. Pulling up Fitz's schedule she called James's assistant, Nancy, and got a date for court set up. Sitting by the window, looking out, she was pushing anything that wasn't about seeing Fitz in ten minutes out of her mind.
"Flight 743 from Detroit, Michigan is now arriving," they announced making her smile. Quickly getting her purse and coffee, she stood at the gate entrance waiting for Fitz to come out. After several minutes and 24 passengers stepped off with their luggage, she finally saw him and waved with a smile.
Seeing someone raise their arm, Fitz looked in that direction and saw her. There's my girl! Beautiful as ever. Wheeling his suitcase behind him and has work bag over his shoulder, Fitz approached her in barely ten steps before wrapping her in his arms and lifting her up to kiss her lips.
"I love you, Olivia Pope." Kissing her harder as he held around her waist.
"I love you, Fitz Grant." She kept her hands locked on his shoulders, careful not to be dropped to her feet. "I think I like hearing it better in person," she laughed.
"Me too, it has a better sound effect. I didn't know you were meeting me here. I thought you had office things to do," he asked setting her on her feet.
"There's a new invention, it's mobile. You can take it anywhere you go. And a lot of us use it to do work things. Emails, calls, texting. All sorts of things. It's not hard wired into a wall anymore. I'll show you sometime, old man," Liv smiled holding up her phone.
Fitz motioned a dagger to the heart and twisted for dramatic effect. "You wound me, madame. Kiss me like that then call me old. Guess I'll have to show you how young I am between the sheets," Fitz smirked patting her ass.
"If I smoked, this is when I would need a cigarette," Olivia panted rolling off Fitz several hours later. "That was fucking amazing."
"Glad to be of service," he smiled and leaned up on his arm facing her. "I didn't think you would skip work today for that. But I am very glad you did." Kissing her cheek, Fitz was able to look her over as she calmed her body down. "So, what did I miss while I was away?"
Giving him a curious look, Liv sat up and moved to prop herself against the headboard. "I kept you very well informed about everything, but I do have a court date set up for you with Mellie next week." Cringing as she hated dealing with James for anything. Liv's face contorted into disgust and discomfort.
"What was that look for?" Looking up at her, Fitz saw the look on her face; the same one she got whenever he mentioned James Richards' name.
"It wasn't anything," she told him, shaking her head.
"Don't lie to me. I know that look. You know, eventually you're going to have to tell me what your problem with James is. He's a good guy, Livie." Catching the roll of her eyes and the light snort that came out of her, Fitz sat up in the bed moving against the footboard. "Liv?"
Crossing her arms, she shook her head and looked away. "Fitz, I don't want to discuss him. If he's a friend, then that's fine, let me be a friend. Let's just say I'm not a fan."
"I get that, but why? And I would prefer an actual answer, not just 'because'."
"We just don't get along. We don't see things the same way. He's your judge for your divorce and I don't want you to get in the middle of it. You need to show proof as to why Mellie shouldn't be getting alimony. That's why he called you today, but since you were on the plane, he got stuck with me."
Accepting the answer for now, Fitz dropped the topic of James. "So what was the Mellie situation on Monday after I left? You said you were dealing with a Mellie problem and couldn't answer my calls or texts." Olivia filled him in on the latest Mellie had done and what she told the partners to do to squash it. "Sounds like she took them seriously. Point for my side."
Rubbing her fingers against his leg next to her, Olivia relaxed in bed with Fitz for a while, avoiding anything from the outside world for as long as she could. "How was Detroit?"
"It got done, that's all that I needed to do. Nothing extraordinary happened there. What are you planning for the weekend? Maybe we could just stay in bed for two days? Pretend the rest of the world doesn't exist?"
"Maybe Sunday. I have a birthday party to go to tomorrow," she smiled at him. "Any interest in being my date?"
"I might be interested. What are the perks though? Drinks? Fabulous food? Cake?"
"Most definitely cake! Food will be fantastic, no doubt. Drinks, probably apple juice or kool-aid." Seeing the confused look on Fitz's face made her laugh. "Javi's birthday party is tomorrow."
"Oh! I actually get to meet this munchkin? I was starting to think you were making him up in that gorgeous head of yours."
"Nope, he is very real." Hearing a ping from her phone notifying her of a text, she picked it up and read it. "Speak of the devil." Answering the call just one ring in, "isn't it past your bedtime?"
"AUNT LIVIA!" Laughing as she heard him yell her name, she pulled the phone away from her ear to save her ear drum. "Aunt Livia! Guess what?! Tomorrow's my birthday and I get a party! And cake! And presents! And pizza! And all my friends are gonna be there!
Letting him go on, Liv listened to Javi tell her all about his birthday for tomorrow, though she knew ever detail that was put into this party. "Wow little man! That sounds like so much fun! Do I get to come to the party?"
"It's not a party if you aren't there! You have to come! Please, please, please? I'll share my cake!"
"Hmmm, I don't know, just cake?" She smiled and looked to see Fitz smiling at her. "I think I might need something else"
"Okay, I'll share my cake and you can have Javi hugs and kisses? Deal?"
"Deal! Think I can bring someone with me?"
"OOOO is it your friend or your boyyyyfrrrrieennndddd?" Fitz couldn't fight the laugh listening to Javi tease her. "I guess he can come with you. I gotta check him out anyway. Make sure he's good enough for cake," Javi told her, protective in his 4 year old way of his aunt.
"I think you'll like him. He likes my cars too."
"Ok, points for that. I gotta go to be Aunt Livia! My birthday's tomorrow! Love you more than pizza!"
"Love you more than popcorn!" Hanging up the phone, Liv gave her full attention back to Fitz. "Hope you're good enough for cake."
