"Ready? I have to get there a little early for Javi's party. Kim needs some help setting up."

Olivia twisted her hair up in a bun, dressed in jeans and her t-shirt with Javi's soccer team logo on it. Her heeled boots made the clacking as she walked into the bedroom to find Fitz. Sitting on the bed, tying his shoes to match his casual button up shirt and jeans, he looked up to see her, make up and all. Perfect Livie. Smiling as he nodded.

"Yes. Ready to go." Handing Liv her purse, he led her down to the garage ready to get in the SUV.

"You can take that if you want to," she laughed and pulled out the keys unlocking one car. "I'm taking the Roma. It's Javi's favorite."

"Definitely coming with you!" Fitz yelled rushing to the driver's seat but saw her shake her head. "Mean," showing her pouting face before she tossed the keys to him.

Giving him directions on where to go, he made sure to park a reasonable distance from the cars so there'd be no damage. "Why do you have so many cars again?"

"Because I can." Getting out of the car, Liv took Fitz's hand as they headed into the stadium. "No joke, he will not let you have cake if he doesn't like you. But Javi is going to love you."

"How can you be sure? What if he doesn't like me? What if he hates me? What if Huck has told him to hate me? Or he thinks I'm taking you away from him? Or what if…"

"That's a lot of what ifs to put on a four-year-old. Javi will love you. I do. I can't believe you are this afraid of meeting him!" Olivia tried to hold back the laugh but failed. "Let's get in there. He's going to be waiting for us." Getting into the indoor soccer field, still holding Fitz's hand, she led him off towards the table set up on the sideline where Kim was finishing the decorating. Looking around for others, Huck and Javi kicked the ball back and forth on the other side of the field. "I heard it's someone's birthday."

"Aunt Livia!" Javi screamed running towards her. Letting go of his hand, she crouched down to get him capturing him in her arms and picking him up. "Javi kisses!" They both shouted. "One. Two. Three. Four. And a special one too!" Kissing her cheeks and nose, he held tight to her neck. "Javi hugs!" They shouted together. "One. Two. Three. Four. And another special!"

"Happy birthday little man! Are you sure you're only 4? Maybe you're 40?" Liv teased as she tickled him.

"I'm 4 Aunt Livia! I counted. Did you bring me presents? It is my birthday."

"JAVI!" Huck shouted at him hearing his question. "She gets you enough toys every other day of the week."

Both Fitz and Olivia laughed, unable to deny that she spoils the boy. "I did but it's at your house. It was too big to be delivered here."

"Is it this big?" Holding out his arms as much as he could to ask. Shaking her head no, his eyes got wide. "Bigger?!"

"You'll have to wait and see. After your party you can see it. We need to help mommy finish decorating. But I want you to meet Fitz." Setting him on his feet, Liv took Fitz's hand and smiled. "Javi, Fitz. Fitz, Javi."

Kneeling down to his level, Fitz stuck his hand out to shake Javi's. "Nice to meet you, Livie's told me a lot about you. Happy birthday."

Crossing his arms, not taking the outstretched hand, Javi looked him up and down. A look he no doubt learned from Olivia. "So… you're Aunt Livia's new boyfriend?" he asked with a raised eyebrow. "Hhmmmm, I don't know how I like that."

Swallowing the lump in his throat, Fitz tried to look away from the boy but couldn't. "Well, um, she said you like soccer. That's pretty cool."

"What do you do? Why do you like my aunt? Why's she so cool? Do you like her? Or do you like her like her? Are you going to hang out with me and her all the time? I have special Aunt Livia time."

Fitz wasn't sure where to start. That's a lot of questions from a kid. "I um, I'm a lawyer and I ugh…"

While Fitz was trying to come up with something to say, Kim, Huck, and Liv watched their interaction. No one wanted to interrupt them. Javi was always curious about everything. Whatever it was, he wanted to find the answers to. "I'm waiting…" Javi told him.

Clapping his shoulder, Jerry smirked at the look Javi gave. "Easy kiddo, he's an old man. He can't think on his feet like you can."

"Papa Jerry! Mommy didn't say you were coming too! Did you bring Nana?"

Tousling his hair, Jerry started over to the table to greet Kim. "She wanted to grab something from the car, she'll be here," Jerry told him, taking his attention away from Fitz.

Relieved, Fitz stood up giving his attention to Olivia. "Papa? Nana?"

Olivia nodded with a smile watching Jerry and Javi. "Those two are perfect together. Jerry is like his grandparent. Verna too, actually." Watching from the field, Jerry kissed Kim's cheek and helped get the pizza set on the table as kids started running in. "Sometimes they take him on over nights so we can go out. Javi's got a full fan club for his soccer games."

"I'd like to go with you to one. If he's okay with that. He seems like a sweet kid. Even though he did just interrogate me. I can't say I've ever been interrogated by a minor; usually I'm the one doing the questioning. I told you he wouldn't like me."

"He's going to warm up to you, Fitz."

"She's right," Verna said, coming up to them. "You should've been there when I got questioned. And he was two!" Hugging Liv, and looking up at Fitz, unsure if he would welcome the hug or not. "Pizza. Cars. Do you like Papa? Does Aunt Liv seem cool? But I think my favorite was 'are you nana?' Javi's a sweet kid." Verna told him, patting Fitz's arm. "Just don't touch his cake or pizza. He bites."

Through the party, Fitz was able to sit with Jerry and Verna discussing their wedding plans and if he could help in any way. Getting to know Kim and Huck a bit better than when he walked in the door. He watched Olivia play with the kids in her stiletto boots. Seeing Javi show tricks with the soccer ball to his friends. This is Liv's family. These are the people she cares about the most. Her protectors. She'd do anything for them. Fitz watched Olivia light the candles and take the cake over to the table while Kim and Huck were on either side of the birthday boy and everyone sang happy birthday. She caught him staring at her and smiled at him while he stood beside Jerry. After all his presents were open and more time to play on the field, parents started taking their kids home, getting the clean up started he asked how he could help and if he could surprise Javi. Though Kim hesitated, she caved and agreed.

"I'll ride with Kim and Huck back to the house. You sure you can handle it?" Olivia asked Fitz a little surprised at the request.

"I'm a lawyer, Livie. If I can't handle this, I have no business going back to the job. He's four."

"Please don't ruin him." Olivia kissed Fitz and went to put some of the presents in the car.

Once his friends were gone, Javi kicked the ball into the goal several times by himself before Fitz came over alone. "Where's Aunt Livia?" He asked looking around for her but not seeing her anywhere. "She didn't say bye."

"She's going to meet you back at your house. I thought maybe you'd want to take a ride in the Ferrari with me? Maybe we could go get some ice cream?"

"Which rari?"

Fitz smiled and kicked the ball back to him. "Livie said we had to bring the Roma. What do you think? Want to take a ride?"

"Bye Mommy! Bye Daddy!" he yelled to them running towards the exit. "I'm going with Fitz!" Running to keep up with him, Fitz caught up just at the outside doors. "I can't go outside without an adult. That's the rule."

"A good rule too." Taking his hand, Fitz led him to the car and put in the car seat in the back, making sure he was buckled in safely before getting in the driver's seat.

Heading out towards the ice cream shop a few miles away from the address Fitz was given for Kim and Huck's house, he parked the car and let Javi order at the register. Getting the cups, they sat at a table and started eating.

"So… you had a lot of questions for me earlier. Now that I know I'm dealing with a pro, you want to ask them again? I can answer as much as you like," Fitz told him before taking a bite.

Sitting up on his knees at the booth, digging into his ice cream he gave it a thought. "You're a lawyer?"

"I am."

"You're Aunt Livia's boyfriend?"

"I am."

"You sleep with her?"

Nearly choking on his ice cream, Fitz swallowed it down and looked at him. "What?"

"Like daddy and Papa Jerry does. You sleep in her bed?"

"OH! Yes, I share a bed with her."

"So you like like her, right?"

"I think I like like her more than like. I love your Aunt Liv. Is that okay?"

Nodding his head, he took another bite and smiled. "Aunt Livia loves you too. I heard her tell Mommy that she did. Do you think she's cool? Is she Batman cool or is she broccoli cool?"

Biting back a laugh, Fitz smirked. "Trick question, kid. Broccoli isn't cool."

"You got the right answer," Javi laughed. "Are you going to be with her all the time?"

"Not all the time. I mean, we live together and work together. I know she needs some space sometimes too."

"That's cool. I have special Aunt Livia time. Just me and her. And no body," Javi shook his head and cut his arms across, "no body messes with my Aunt Livia time. Got it?"

Fitz nodded his head yes. "I think it's pretty awesome you get to spend time with Liv by yourself. She talks about you a lot. She showed me some of the pictures of you playing soccer. And the video she got of you making your first goal. You looked awesome!"

"She comes to all my games. Will you be there too?"

"I'd like to be there if you'll let me. But it's okay if you don't too."

"Papa Jerry comes too. He said you're his son. But you aren't Nana's. Where's your mommy?"

"She lives far away in California. Papa Jerry is my dad. He seems to really like you. I saw that glow in the dark soccer ball him and Nana got you. I bet you'll have some fun with that one." Watching Javi finish his ice cream, he handed him a napkin to wipe his face. "You ready to head home? Liv's got your birthday present waiting for you there."

"She always gets me the coolest toys! I can't wait to see what I got!"

Taking his hand, they started towards the car in the nearly empty lot. Waiting for Fitz to open the car door, he pulled on his hand and looked up at him. "Hey Fitz, can I ask you a major question?"

"What were those? Minor?"

"I'm for real man! I gotta ask you!"

"Okay, ask away." Reaching into his pocket to find the key, Fitz waited for the question before opening the door.

"Are you going to protect Aunt Livia from the bad man?"

Listening to the question, Fitz knelt beside him and frowned. "You know about Edison?"

"No, not Edison. He can't hurt Aunt Livia anymore. I mean the other bad man. The one who hurt her last year."

"Who hurt her?"

"I don't know his name. Daddy and Papa just call him the bad man."

Fitz watched his eyes for a moment, seeing them get darker, he knew he had to reassure the boy. "Javi, I love Olivia just as much as you do. And I don't want anything to happen to her. Just like Batman protects the city. I promise that I will protect her. "
