A/N Told you it was only slightly crude humor, some people get offended at the smallest things. Anyway, Giles' presentation is next. Aside from a running gag on leprechaun's not actually existing, fairies aren't really mentioned in Buffy. Some of the comics make mention of some different types apparently, but I really didn't like the direction they went so I only read one. I've heard mentions of what happened in the comics and read references in some fics, but that's all. So Giles' presentation is going to include some known fae type beings found in folklore. Some good and some bad. Since he took Xander's advice on keeping each explanation short, that means I can put several different kinds in the presentation. Giles will also give a plausible explanation for the difference between supernatural and demonic. I believe there is a difference and it explains why not every so-called demonic creature is inherently evil and out to get humans, while also explaining why some supernatural beings are.

"Let's get started on my presentation shall we. We have a great deal to cover. I have decided I will do these presentations each Saturday at this time, barring any issues. On Xander's advice I will keep things short, a brief description of each being, any known strengths and weaknesses, odds of meeting them and whether they are supernatural or demonic, good or evil."

"To start with there is a difference between supernatural and demonic. Supernatural means it either evolved here on Earth or in an adjacent realm, that is not inherently evil. Thus these beings are much like humans and even in some cases able to reproduce with humans. Some beings labeled demonic may in fact actually be supernatural instead, since some can reproduce with humans."

"Demonic means of a demonic or hell dimension. Most of these creatures are inherently evil and prey upon humans."

"Each presentation will list 5 supernatural beings and 5 demonic."

Giles passed a paper with a picture on it on it around. "This is an elf, and yes they are real. They can easily pass for human as they are the same size as humans. Their physical differences are limited to their eyes, which nowadays can be hidden with contacts and in times past, with a small glamour, and their ears, which are pointed. While folklore presents many different kinds, there really is only one kind, but with different races. They are not inherently evil and are supernatural and evolved in another realm. They visit our realm from time to time and are capable of reproducing with humans. Harming one leads others of their kind to retaliating, especially if a young one is attacked. They live much longer than humans, even those of mixed breeding."

"Next we have Nymphs. Nymphs are extremely long lived and come in a number of races. They are always female. They are associated with nature, as each has an area of influence, trees, rivers, oceans etc. They are tied to the health of these areas and are able to influence said health, mostly for the better. They are unfortunately becoming rare as damage and pollution are destroying the places they make their homes. It is uncertain where they evolved originally as they are known in every supernaturally inclined realm. They may simple have evolved independently in each or spread from one to another. They are some of the oldest known fae in existence."

"Next we have Kelpies. They are known by a variety of names in different belief systems, but for the most part, are all the same type of being. Kelpies appear in water, be it oceans or large lakes etc and are shapeshifters. In their native form they have a horse like appearance. They shift into a human form. It was traditionally believed they lured people to their death. However, it has been discovered that they come from another realm and the people who they lure are taken there. It has never been discovered why they were taken, if eaten or enslaved or become part of another society. It simply isn't known since no one who has been taken has ever returned. Selkies may be of the same race or realm as Kelpies. Their base form is that that of a seal like form and they are also shapeshifters. They can shift to a human form."

"Sirens can pass for human and reproduce with humans. Traditionally, it was believed they lure people to their deaths with their song. However, the truth is they are able to use their voices as a self defense mechanism. They are not inherently evil but are supernatural and do live among us. They prefer living near water. They are described as bird like, because they are very delicate beings. Whether they evolved here or in another realm is unknown."

"Werewolves," Xander felt Cordelia tense slightly, she moved her arm around his neck and leaned her head towards him, drawing in a silent breathe. She instantly relaxed and he gave her a slight reassuring squeeze. Finally, they were getting to the real reason for this presentation, even if no one but them knew it.

"Werewolves. It is not known if werewolves evolved on their own or began because of a virus. What is known is that one can be born a werewolf and that one can become a werewolf via a virus spread in a bite. Werewolves are also shapeshifters. Traditionally, they were thought to be evil, possibly witches who made a deal with the devil. But that is a misconception. While there are people who do make such deals and magic users capable of turning into another form, werewolves in and of themselves, are simply humans with a condition that needs to be managed. Most do so successfully and others around them are none the wiser. In the initial stages, however, a werewolf may be unaware that they have become one, as it can take several transformations before they begin to be able to recall anything that occurred while a wolf or may be unable to accept what has happened to them. This is probably where the initial stories concerning werewolves began as they would be entirely controlled by instinct in this form. If we do encounter a werewolf, our best bet is to tranquilize him or her and attempt to help them understand their condition and control it. The longer one is a werewolf, the more control one has, eventually being able to transform at will. Although they will always be subject to the full moon cycle, which is transforming the day before, the day of and the day after a full moon occurs."

The rest of Giles' presentation passed in a bit of blur for both Xander and Cordelia as they were finally able to relax, the important information having been relayed to the others. When and if Cordelia ever told them her secret or it was forced out, they would know she wasn't a threat and not try to kill her. It was a relief for both of them.
