When it came time to go meet James in the library, Diana was a nervous mess. She wasn't sure what the best route for handling him would be. As long as he eventually forgave her, she would be fine. Maybe she was overreacting and he will barely have even noticed that she pulled away from him.

'Oh what do I even say? What's my excuse supposed to be?' She mentally went in circles on what she should say to the boy. Where would she even begin?

"Harron? You've been muttering to yourself for the last few minutes. People are gonna think you've become deranged." James' voice shocked Diana out of her thoughts so harshly that she jumped in her seat.

"Wholly hell! You scared me!" Diana groaned out, her breath coming out quickly.

James sat across from her at the table, tossing his back down next to him. "Well you scared half the library with the way you were acting."

"Shove off!" Diana giggled despite her words. It was almost too easy to fall back into their dynamics again. Diana stared intently to check if the boy was still in a foul mood, but he paid her looks no mind.

Digging in his bag for a second, eventually the boy held his hand forward, "Orange?" His eyes practically dared her to deny the snack.

"Thanks." She took the fruit happily before pulling out a treat of her own. "I actually brought something for us to share too." Diana held out a special edition chocolate frog nervously.

"Woah! Where did you get this? This was from the 60's! Their cards are so rare to come across nowadays!" The boy eagerly took the chocolate frog, staring excitedly.

"I know how to pull some strings," Diana laughed. "Think of it as a small part of my apology," Diana trailed off.

"Apology for what?" James head snapped up at her words, his gaze confused.

"For the way I've been treating you these last few week. I-I shouldn't have acted that way and it was completely unfair of me to ignore you and push you away like that." Diana took a deep breath before continuing. "Look, I like you. As a friend of course! W-what I mean to say is that I enjoy hanging out with you and being your friend, so I'm sorry. Please forgive me?" Diana looked up earnestly at the bespectacled boy. His mouth gaped some, as he seemed at a loss for words.

"Wait. You're not mad at me?"

"Why would I be mad at you?" Diana became confused now. What was he talking about?

"Well I just assumed that I had done something to make you angry. I didn't want to make you angrier for not knowing so I tried to figure it out, but I couldn't!" The boy wrung his hands as he spoke, his lips pulling up into a soft pout.

"No! It was all me! I'm so sorry!" Diana reached forward to clasp his hands in hers. "Look, I don't have a good excuse for how I treated you, but it was all me. You did nothing wrong"

"So you're not mad at me?" The bespectacled boy gripped her hands tightly, almost as if he was afraid she would pull away again.

"No. I promise I'm not mad. Are you angry with me?"

"Of course not! I'm just glad we cleared that up!" James slumped in his seat, twiddling with Diana's fingers in his hands. "So I uh, I have a question though."

"Uh sure, what is it?" Diana prayed that he wasn't going to ask about why she was avoiding him. She was shocked when he spoke again.

"What did you talk about with Sirius today?" James spoke hesitantly, pulling her hands closer to him.

"What? Are you talking about at lunch today?" Diana turned confused again. Why was he asking her this? Didn't he send Sirius over to talk to her?

"Yeah. The arse, he was supposed to help me out but refused to tell me anything of what you said!" James groaned out, before pausing. "He's not your type right?"

"What?! No, he's not my type! Plus he was all over Amy anyways! And all he did was tell me stories about you and the rest of the guys. He specifically brought up a certain eyebrow incident-"

"Okay okay! No need to bring that up! I'm gonna kill him for telling that story!" James groaned loudly, leaning forwards to bump his forehead against their joined hands. He was quickly shushed for his outburst. Diana just giggled softly, rubbing the backs of his hands tenderly.

"So are we all good now?" Diana trailed off uncertainly.

"Of course! We're still partners wether you like it or not! Can't get rid of me that quickly!" James ran a hand through his curly hair as he spoke cockily.

"Okay hush! Let's go to dinner now! I'm starved!" Diana groaned out, pull her hands away to stand up. James followed in her footsteps trailing after her to the dining hall.

"Oh! Can I sit with you this time?!" James walked faster to bump her shoulder teasingly. "If Padfoot can do it, then I should get to as well!"

"James, don't seriously tell me you're jealous that Sirius sat with me and my friends at lunch today?" Diana chuckled loudly, shaking her head in exasperation.

"Of course I'm not jealous! I, obviously, know that I'm you're favorite. We've been friends longer!" James boasted haughtily. He trailed after her excitedly to her table when she didn't make any objections.

Diana groaned and peered around to see if anybody had noticed and she cringed when she saw multiple people looking curiously. When they reached the table, she quickly shoved James into the seat next to her as she sat across from Amy and Nico. She glared at Amy's excited smile and pouted at Nico's confused looks.

"Thanks for having me mates!" James says not even noticing any other looks. "So, let me tell you about this time Sirius-" Diana tuned out the rest of what James said as she dropped her head onto the table.

'Why can't I catch a break?!'
