Cassie is suspicious by nature, which is one of the things Jack appreciates most about their precocious little alien charge. She's eyeing him with equal parts curiosity and caution as he holds the chains of the swing steady for her. "C'mon, Cass, hop in."
"I don't know if I want to…"
Jack smiles his warmest smile nods his head in Sam's direction. "Don't just take my word for it; Carter said it was fun, right, Carter?"
"Yeah, lots of fun!" Carter's face lights up as she kneels down, eye level with Cassie and smiles at her. Jack fights off the surprise burst of jealousy he feels that the little girl can be that close with his Captain.
"Show me first?"
"You heard her, Captain," Jack pats the seat of the swing and grins at Sam. "Hop in."
Sam takes a few seconds to weigh her options before deciding the path of least resistance is best and walking over to drop gracefully into the seat of the swing. Its rubber base tenses and settles against her hips at her weight, silver chains chilly under her skin as she wraps her fingers around them. She lets out a surprised "Oh!" at the sudden addition of Jack's knuckles against her waist and his warm breath heating her neck. He's tugging the chains of the swing to pull her backward against himself. "Hold on, Carter," he says, and she can hear his grin. "You see, Cass, the secret to the perfect swing is a good push."
Jack leans his chin over Sam's shoulder and smiles at the little girl before flexing his fingers one more time and pushing Sam forward and up, using his own weight and force to increase her forward momentum. "See that?" he grins proudly as Sam's long legs extend forward on her upswing. "Woohoo, Carter, we have liftoff!" Jack claps happily as he watches her knees bend and the arc of the swing start its descent back to him. He waits for her to be close enough and uses both hands to push against her lower back and send her forward again.
Cassie watches with increased interest as Sam continues to swing higher and higher and Jack gives her little pushes and big pushes, and sometimes sideways pushes that send the swing and its rider careening and twisting before the natural direction of the chains puts them back on the straight path of forward and backward. An uncharacteristic yelp from Sam catches the girls attention further as she sees Jack has caught Sam by what looks like her belt loops and is holding her above his head, grinning triumphantly before he throws her forward with a twist. "See, Cass," he says. "Fun!"
She can't help smiling at these two people she has come to trust and appreciate; watching them erupt into giggles as Sam spins against the twisting chain and Jack catches her by the ankle to stop her out of control spiral and bring her back to Earth. "I guess it does look like fun, Jack," Cassie says.
