Thanks for reviewing! You all are awesome!

I stared at him for a second before he pushed some food towards me. I had met him before?

"Who are you?" I finally asked him and he chuckled as he sipped wine.

"You know the owner, right?" he asked me and I nodded.

"Yeah, he's a friend of the family." I admitted and he nodded.

"You remember his first wife when you were little?" he asked me and I was surprised because not many people now knew he had a first wife. I knew her because she used to watch me with their son when I was little.

"Yeah, she was my babysitter. I used to go to the house everyday and she would keep me with her son... and you're that son." I said as it hit me at once. He chuckled and nodded. I was so surprised because his Mom had watched me from when i was 2 until I was 6, and her son was 2 years older than me.

"That's me. My mom took me to Jacksonville after she caught my dad cheating on her. She moved on, and so did he." he said and I nodded.

"Do you still talk to him?" I asked Dexter and he nodded.

"Yeah, I saw him the other day. We have a better relationship, and he knows how I feel about his second wife." he said and I nodded. I was still surprised that he knew me... or I used to know me..

"So, why work for me?" I finally asked him and he smirked.

"I had just come back to Florida, and wanted something to occupy my time. I needed a job, Johnny had the job, and I knew that you wouldn't be a horrible boss." he said and I nodded.

"You do know that your dad is one of the investors in the place?" I asked him and he nodded.

"Yeah, I know my step-mom is one of your best customers." he said as he used air quotes around step-mom. I had to chuckled at that as I ate some of the charcuterie board.

"I would never have known who you were if you hadn't of told me." I said and he smirked.

"Maybe not, but I wanted to tell you since the night we hung out at your place." he said and I nodded.

"You were my first friend." I admitted as they refilled our wine glasses.

"You were my first crush." he said and I chuckled at that. I doubted that because Dexter had never been ugly... he was cute when we were younger, and he was kind of hot now.

"Come on now, I was not." I said and he smirked.

"You were or why else would I have let you have those stupid tea parties and put hats on me." he said and I had to bit my lip to keep from laughing because I did remember doing that. We talked and had more wine as the night winded down at the restaurant.

"Come on, it's probably closing time." I said and he chuckled.

"They aren't going to kick us out, but I have feeling we can find something else to do." he said as I put money on the table and he offered me his arm.

We walked through the town, and you could tell it was getting late. The ghost tours weren't out anymore, the tourist were disappearing, and the bars were getting quieter as only the locals were out now. I let Dexter lead us as we ended up at the fort and sat on the benches overlooking the inlet. The lighthouse could be seen in her glory, the fort was quiet, and the water had a dull calming sound to it. I was going to say something when I looked at him, but I was met with a kiss. I was surprised at first, but relaxed as his hand ran up my cheek and into the back of my hair.

He pulled away and looked at me. He leaned his forehead against mine and I closed my eyes. I would be lying if I said that I hadn't missed my first real friend. I would think about him from time to time, and hope that he was alright. My family just stopped talking about him and his mom one they left St. Augustine. I would ask my dad from time to time, but he would always change the subject. I guess fate had a way of doing crazy things. We sat there a few more minutes before wandering back through the now empty streets towards my house. My feet were starting to hurt, but I didn't want to say anything.

We came up to the club and it was still going. My last call was 1 am, and it was getting close. He pulled me with him to the door and I chuckled. We walked up and Johnny did a double take.

"Wow. You got him to clean up." he said to me about Dexter, and I chuckled.

"Funny." Dexter deadpanned and I laughed. Johnny shook his head as we went inside. Roman was doing his last rounds for the night, but the area was still packed. Dexter pulled me over to the bar and Becky started whistling when she saw us. She hugged me and handed me two beers. I handed Dexter one and turned back to her as Johnny came over to us.

"So...?" she asked me and I smirked.

"Maybe." I said and she was laughing as Cash walked up to her from the other side of the bar. He didn't recognize me at first, and did a double take.

"Wow, looking good." he said and hugged me.

"Thanks, I had that thing tonight and thankfully Dexter went with me or you would have been in a tuxedo." I said and his nose wrinkled because I knew that he didn't like getting dressed up. I talked to Cash for a few minutes before they did last call. Dexter and I left a few minutes later, and he walked me to my house. I got through the gate and immediately took off my shoes.

"That feels so much better." I said as he chuckled. I was about to walk up to the porch when he picked me up. I gasped and quickly put my arms around his neck.

"I would have carried you if you had told me your feet were hurting." he said and I shrugged.

"I was making it work." I said and he chuckled. He walked us up to the porch and sat me down. I unlocked the door for us and he came inside. I dropped my shoes at the stairs and turned to say something when he surprised me again with a kiss. I knew that we were by ourselves so I allowed myself to fully enjoy it. I ran my hands over his chest and around his neck. He pulled me tightly to him as I moaned into the kiss.

"I want you to know that I have been wanting to do that since the night we hung out." he said as he pulled away and I bit my lip.

"I have missed you, Jodi... can we try this?" he asked me and I nodded maybe a little too eagerly.

"I want to." I finally said and he chuckled as he kissed me again. I wasn't sure if I had found my long lost friend, or maybe my soulmate.
