Short chapter to set up something later...

"Spill!" Becky said as soon as I sat down at Harry's. She wanted me to meet her for lunch for a girls day, but I also knew that she had been dying to ask me about Dexter. She had already texted me three times reminding me about lunch and going to the beach. I was kind of surprised she wasn't at my front door the day after my date with Dexter. I'm sure Seth told her not to, or she might actually have.

"He's... amazing." I admitted and she smiled at me. We ordered and she began her interrogation. I told her about how he had stood up to Dave, been a gentleman, and how we actually knew each other from when we were little.

"I am so glad he put Dave in his place." she said when I was done and I chuckled. I think that everyone was happy about that. Dave could be an asshole, and while everyone knew it most people tried to ignore it because of his money. We finished eating and were heading to the beach. She had parked near Harry's so I opted to ride with her.

"A few more people are joining us." she said and I nodded as we parked. I helped her grab stuff and we walked out. Seth, Johnny, Candace, and Dexter were already there. Dexter and Seth helped us with the rest of the stuff as we set up. They already had a tent up, and I knew that we would be here the rest of the day. THe club was closed on Monday's so we didn't have anywhere to be.

"Are you alright?" Dexter asked me as we sat there and I nodded.

"Yeah, it's nice to relax." I said and he kissed my temple.

"Aww." Candace said and Dexter rolled his eyes at her.

"So you really grew up together?" Johnny asked us and we both nodded.

"It's crazy how fate brings people back together." Candace said and we both nodded.

We stayed out until Johnny and Candace had to pick up Quill from her parents. Seth and Becky were having a dinner date, and Dexter wanted to me to come over for dinner. We said bye to everyone and I got into Dexter's truck. He lived just north of the city in an older neighborhood, and I was surprised when we pulled up. He lived off the same road as the Fountain of Youth, and everyone loved this street. The Spanish moss hung perfectly from the trees and the houses were all neatly perfect.

"I didn't know you lived over here... this is the house that you lived in when you were little." I said and he chuckled as he helped me out. I came here as a kid when his Mom would watch us.

"Yeah, my Dad owned it, and I bought it from him at a reasonable price. I missed living here after Mom took me to Jacksonville." he said and I nodded.

He took my hand as we walked inside. The house was immaculate. I got ready to say something when he pulled me in for a kiss as his hands went to my hips. I wrapped my arms around his neck. He began to kiss down my neck as I pressed myself closer to him.

"I don't want to push you." he whispered as he continued to kiss down my neck, and came back to my mouth. He pulled away and looked at me. I wanted him so bad, but I didn't want to rush anything.

"I don't know what I want." I finally said and he chuckled before giving me a chaste kiss.

"How about we start with food?" he asked me and I chuckled, but nodded.

He had some chicken, so we decided to grill chicken for dinner. Dexter was a great cook, and I had fun helping him. I almost like seeming domesticated as we sat on his back porch to eat. The sun was setting and he had a candle lit to keep mosquitoes away. He had soft music playing through the house, and we were sipping on white wine.

"I like this." I admitted and he chuckled at me.

"I do too." he said as he laced our fingers together.

I helped him clean up before he took me back to my house. We were walking up to the front door when I saw something at my door. Dexter picked it up as I unlocked the door. He handed it to me, and it was an envelope with my name on it. He petted my cat as I opened it.

Jodi,

I'm sure you think it's funny that your boytoy fucked with me, but it's not. We are going to talk.

Dave

I sighed and showed Dexter. He pursed his lips as he handed it back.

"You want me to stay over?" he asked me and I shook my head.

"I'm not scared of Dave. He may have a temper, but he's all talk. He is too afraid of fucking up any of his money." I said and Dexter didn't look convinced.

"Dexter..." I was saying when he cut me off.

"Jodi, I don't like it. I worry about you. I got you back, and I don't want to see you hurt." he said and kissed my forehead.

"Fine, stay?" I asked him and he nodded. He locked the door behind him, and we sat down to watch TV. I did kind of like having him around, but I didn't honestly think that Dave would be dumb enough to want to hurt me.
