Dexter POV

I was in the back when someone told me I was being asked for at the upstairs bar. I figured it was a regular so I made my way up there. I rounded the corner to see Jodi standing at the bar with a glass of wine. She looked beautiful as ever tonight. It was later than I expected her to be here.

"I didn't think I would see you again today." I said as I walked up and she gave a small smile.

"I came to apologize for earlier." She said and I waved it off.

"I could tell something was wrong. I wanted you to know that I still consider us friends, and that I am here for you." I said and she nodded.

"I know you and Dave are the ones who had Michael's contract. Thank you to whichever one of you it was who gave it to me." She said and I couldn't hide my surprise. She chuckled at my expression.

"Fun fact... Friedman is also my cousin." She said and I felt my eyes go even wider. I saw the name on the contract and reached out. I didn't realize what all my cousin was into, but none the less he's family somehow." She said with a chuckle.

"So, what did you do with the contract." I finally asked her.

"I still have it. I did a background on Michael. I asked my friend, whose a detective, to run it for me. He had a record from Ohio. I told him to leave. He was lying and I didn't know who he was. I wanted him gone." She said and I was relieved. She didn't need to be around scum like him.

I asked for a glass of wine and sat down beside her. I clinked our glasses together.

"To whatever this is." I said and she chuckled as she took a sip. I did the same and looked at her. She was still bandaged up but looked absolutely beautiful. I moved some hair out of her face and tucked it behind her ear. I missed being around her all the time... hell, I missed everything about her.

"Did your cousin at least apologize for what happened?" I finally asked and she smirked as she nodded.

"He did and he was happy to help me get rid of Michael." She said and I nodded. I was one of the people who was glad he was gone.

We talked until 11pm. She had been there awhile. I told them I was going to take her home even after she protested. I offered her my arm and she took it as we walked down the sidewalk.

"I miss our walks." I said and she leaned her head on me.

"I miss you." She whispered.

"I'm still here. I'm not going anywhere." I told her.

We walked in a calm silence the rest of the way to the club. She needed to check in with Johnny. They were open for another hour or so. She found him and he gave her a note and something else. She slipped it in the sling and came back to where I was waiting by the bar. I offered her my arm again and walked her to her house.

Jodi POV

I had kicked Michael out, called the police on him about an outstanding warrant from Ohio, caught up with my cousin that I didn't realize had come back to town, and now I was standing on my porch with Dexter. I didn't think this is how the day was going to go.

He turned to say something, but I stood up on my tiptoes and pressed my lips to his. He immediately put his hands on my hips. I tried to pull away, but he held me in place. Fuck, I loved the feeling of being in his arms again.

He finally pulled away and we looked at each other. I knew that we had been fighting this the whole time.

"Dinner at my place tomorrow at 6. I'll pick you up when I leave the winery." He said and all I could do was nod.

"Get some sleep, Princess." He said and kissed my forehead. I unlocked the door and walked in while he waited.

"Good night, Dexter." I said and he smiled at me before going back to his car.

Becky POV

I went to Jodi's the next morning. She had texted me last night. I found her sitting in her porch drinking coffee.

"Michael still asleep?" I asked her and she chuckled. She motioned for me to go grab some coffee.

"Michael is probably in the county jail right about now." She said when I came back with some coffee. I stopped and looked at her because she was very calm about it.

"Why?" I asked her.

"I found out he wasn't who he said he was and I was done with all the lies. I called in a favor. My generosity only goes so far. I'm not to be taken advantage of by a dumb fuck like him. It just suck because he was fucking amazing in bed." She said and I nodded.

"So, he's gone?" I asked her to be sure and she nodded.

"Yeah, he's gone for good. I also have dinner plans with Dexter tonight." She said and I squealed because they deserved each other.

"Are all of you rooting for us to get back together?" She asked me while laughing.

"Maybe everyone except Cash." She said and I smirked.

I talked to Becky some, went by the club and made sure they had food, and worked on some stuff. I was in my office when Johnny popped in.

"Hey, you ok?" He asked me and I nodded

"Thanks for the help with Michael." I said and he nodded.

"Anything for a friend." He said and gave me a gentle hug

I hung out around the club most of the day until I had to get ready to go to Dexter's tonight. I showered and picked out a simple teal maxi dress with a pair of simple black sandals. I wasn't sure why but now I was nervous about being around Dexter.
