Happy New Year and welcome to a new story! First off, YES, I am aware Sonic Frontiers is going to get DLC that will include more story and I'll probably want to redo or edit this once that comes out, but I wanted to get this started while I have the ideas fresh in my head. And YES, I am officially weird for even thinking of this crossover, but hey, is it any weirder than that one time Sonic the Hedgehog crossed over with Spawn of all things? (I'm serious, that was a thing, look it up!) Anyway, Sonic Frontiers came out recently and it is fantastic! And the whole Cyber Space theme made me think of Cyber Sleuth, so here we are. I'm working on this alongside my last arc for Cyber Ranger, but that takes priority over this. I'll try to update this story weekly as well, but no promises that this won't be delayed. I know I've said that a lot before and that's never happened, but I just want to put out the safety net.

So, unlike my previous Cyber Sleuth stories where I feature both Takumi and Ami, I decided to change things up. This time there is only one Cyber Sleuth, Takumi Aiba! And he will have all three starter Digimon from Cyber Sleuth, but no more than that. And before anyone asks about what characters I'll include I will say this right now: For the Sonic side I will not include anyone who is NOT in the game. For the Digimon side, I already figured out everyone I am going to include and WHEN they will be included, I will leave it at that for now.

I do NOT own Digimon Story Cyber Sleuth or Sonic they are property of Toei Animation/Bandai Namco and Sonic Team/Sega. Okay! Let's get started!

"So, you found them?"

"Yes. I located the dimension all three of them were banished too."

"Can you access it from here?"

"I found a small crack in the rift connecting their and here. But to fit through it would require relinquishing a lot one's power."

"Curses. So even if we were to go destroying those three would be an impossibility."

"Maybe not…I have an idea."

Takumi Aiba. He was once just an average teenager. And to most, he still was. But about half a year ago, he was much more than that. He was the one who saved two worlds. A human partner to powerful Digimon. The Cyber Sleuth. But in doing so, he altered reality. Changing the world drastically. Now only he, along with his companions remember what happened.

But while he may not be a great Digimon Tamer anymore, he was still an apprentice detective, under the mentorship of Kyoko Kuremi. And it did not change that he was friends with those who also remember. So naturally when Yuuko Kamishiro called him and asked him to come to Kawloon Lv 1, it didn't matter to him if it seemed out of the blue or that she didn't tell him much of anything. He logged in to EDEN and went straight to Junk Park. He flew into the dark entrance of the shady area and hurried to what remained of the old EDEN Demo Event.

When he got there, his friends were already gathered. "Finally!" Nokia Shiramine growled. "You kept us waiting again!"

"Yeah, sorry." Takumi was more or less used to Nokia exploding from her lack of patience. "So Yuuko, Yuugo, why'd you call us all over?"

Arata Sanada leaned against the pole in the middle of the room. "Heh. All five of us here again. Just like that day. Takes you back huh?"

Yuuko Kamishiro and her brother Yuugo Kamishiro looked at everyone. "Thank you all for coming on such short notice." Yuugo said. "We wanted to tell you about something that father is working on in Kamishiro Enterprises."

"And what's that?" Arata asked.

Yuuko looked at the group. "Lately father has been trying to expand his vision of EDEN. He wondered if he could make its contents something that can be accessed not only virtually but in reality, as well."

"Wait." Takumi stepped forward. "You mean like EDEN only in real life? Making the virtual physical? Is that possible?"

"We were skeptical as well." Yuuko nodded. "But his work has actually produced some incredible results. He's on the verge of a breakthrough and this week is going to start an experiment to see if he can bring digital forms to life."

"That sounds…interesting?" Nokia said trying to keep up. "So, what's it got to do with us?"

"Father is calling this phenomenon a Digital Shift."

Everyone fell into shocked silence. "Wait a second…" Arata gapped. "As in…?"

"We don't know for certain if it's the same thing that happened back then." Yuugo said. "But at this point I can't shake this feeling…"

"The Digital Shift…" Takumi folded his arms. "Before that was caused by the Eaters. And now they no longer exist. How's your father doing this?"

"That's another thing." Yuuko said. "One day Kamishiro Enterprises received data from an anonymous source that he used to make a special engine."

"An anonymous source?" Nokia asked. "What's that mean?"

Arata scoffed. "It means we don't know who it is." He then turned to the Kamishiro twins. "Are we sure this is safe? Or legit?"

"Father was also cautious about approaching this." Yuugo said. "But he ran multiple simulations. He thinks it might actually work. But we won't know for sure until we test it. In any case, that's why we wanted to talk to you. If this does succeed…and it is the same Digital Shift as before…Then maybe there's a slight chance this could lead to Digimon returning."

"Really?!" Nokia beamed. "No joke?!"

"Calm down Nokia." Takumi said. "This isn't guaranteed."

"But-But think about it! I can see Agumon and Gabumon again! We can see all of our Digimon again!"

Takumi looked at the floor. "That would be awesome. Not a day goes by without me wishing I could see my Digimon again. Alphamon too."

"But creating a Digital Shift won't change the fact that they're in another world from us." Arata said.

"It would still be a major first step." Yuuko said. "That's why we were asking if all of you would join us at the experiment Wednesday."

"I'm in!" Nokia said.

"So am I." Arata said. "Sounds interesting."

"What about you Takumi?" Yuugo said.

"I'd love to go, but that depends on whether or not I can get Kyoko's permission. Things are getting busy at the detective agency."

"Ah, yes." Yuuko sighed. "I suppose it's not easy juggling school with detective work."

Takumi chuckled. "Look who's talking. Whenever you're not at school, you're either helping Yuugo, or helping Kamishiro Enterprises."

"Takumi's right." Nokia said. "You two should go unwind sometime."

"I missed out eight years while everyone was working hard." Yuugo said. "I want to do my part."

"Hey, I know." Arata said. "Let's send a case to Kyoko's office and have her request that Takumi… "supervises" the project."

"That…might work." Takumi said.

"Yeah, it might." Yuuko said. "I'll send it to her office."

"Okay." Takumi smiled. "If she gives me the green light, then you bet I'll join. And who knows, if it does work, maybe we can bring Digimon and humans together peacefully."

"Well, we need to be careful." Arata said. "Last time Digimon came to EDEN they were used as tools for cyber crimes. And…" He sighed. "…Don't forget what happened eight years ago right here."

The area fell into a gloomy silence. "…I'll never forget that day." Takumi said. "What happened…what I did…"

"What we did Takumi." Yuuko said. "Just because you were the one to open that hole doesn't mean we weren't also involved."

"Don't forget whose thoughts summoned that Eater."

"For the last time!" Arata scolded. "There's no proving that-

Yuugo stepped in between them. "I think it will be fine. Kyoko-I mean Alphamon took the form they took after we reverted them to a harmless state. She said it would be okay. Still, we will need to be prepared for humans bringing harm to Digimon."

"And vice versa." Yuuko said. "Last time Digimon started appearing in Tokyo it was chaos."

Yuugo nodded. "But that's only if this project does work and it does provide a means of Digimon coming here."

"Right." Takumi said. "But even if it doesn't…" He looked up. "I believe we'll meet again. Somehow. Someday."

Inside what appeared to be some sort of city a man in red with a brown mustache was sitting in a floating vehicle. Standing on the end of the road in front of him was a small girl with a black dress, white skin and hair. Her eye that wasn't covered by that hair was flashing red along with other parts of her body. "Are you certain about this stranger's skill?" the man asked.

The girl nodded. "Yes doctor. I believe he can help me access the Ancient's systems and possibly find a safe way to free you."

"And how soon can you bring him here? You said you found him when your search led to you accessing a cyber space in another dimension."

The girl turned around. "He is already here."

The man looked up as someone approached. "What?"

"Since his consciousness was already digitized, I was able to bring him to this Cyber Space."

The young man stood next to the girl and looked at the man. "So…You're Doctor Eggman."

"Correct." The man stroked his mustache. "And you're this hacker that caught Sage's attention? Honestly a bit younger than I imagined."

"I have tested his skill myself." the girl said. "His ability to break firewalls and access programs proceeds parameters."

"I learned from the best my world has to offer." the teen said.

"Oh really?" Eggman asked. He started typing in his floating machine. "Well let's see you prove it." A red wall with the Eggman symbol appeared in front of him. "There. Hack your way through that." The teen raised a hand and a blue monitor and keypad appeared in front of him and started typing. Eggman watched him work noticing the strange system he summoned to himself. "If you can crack that in the next five minutes, then maybe I'll-

"Done." The teen swiped his hand moving the keypad and monitor away. The Eggman symbol on the wall flashed and it dissipated in blue sparks.

"What?!" Eggman was taken aback. "But…how?! That was one of my best security programs!"

"I told you. I was taught by the best."

Eggman was in shock. "Just who is this kid? With that skill backed by Sage's ability and my genius…" Eggman grinned. "Alright then. I'll admit, I'm impressed kid. And convinced of your abilities as a hacker."

"Sage here told me your dilemma doctor." the teenager said. "She also told me you're the greatest mind this world has to offer."

"I assure you, you'll find nobody smarter no matter what world you look."

"So, can you help me then? I-

Eggman held up his hand. "Sage already told me of your issue as well. So, you want to access another world known as the "Digital World" home to the beings known as "Digimon"?"

"That's right."

"Interesting." The man landed his vehicle and stepped out of it. "I just so happen to have experience with interacting with other dimensions. So how about this? Help Sage with getting me out of Cyber Space and her other objectives, and I'll get you into the Digital World." He extended his hand. "Do we have a deal?"

The young man shook his hand. "Yes! Definitely! Thank you doctor!"

"Then it's agreed young man. Consider yourself an honorary member of the Eggman Empire."

The bell rang as Takumi stepped into the Kuremi Detective Agency. "You called Kyoko?"

The woman sat at her desk looking at her computer. "I just got a case from Yuuko Kamishiro."

Takumi walked over. "What's it say?"

"It sounds like Kamishiro Enterprises is conducting some form of experiment in Roppongi. Apparently, they want us to supervise it. They didn't give me all the details, but they said this has "potential to change the world and our understanding of digital and physical drastically"."

"Ominous." Takumi said. "When's this happening?"

"Wednesday."

"That soon huh?" Takumi folded his arms. "So how about it then? Should we take the job?"

Kyoko smirked at him. "You sound rather eager to go."

"Do I? Well…uh…"

Kyoko raised an eyebrow. "I know you're acquainted with the Kamishiro siblings. They wouldn't have talked to you about this in advance by any chance, would they?"

Takumi looked away. "It…might have come up."

Kyoko laughed. "Is that so? Well, if they are expecting you, it would be rather rude to not show up. I suppose we have no choice but to take the case."

Takumi smiled. "Thanks Kyoko."

"I'm honestly looking forward to it. It sounds interesting. Besides, we're cyber detectives. If this experiment will impact our understanding of what is digital and physical, we should be aware of what that impact is."

"I can't wait! Oh! I'll make us some coffee! We can have a toast to it!"

"Um…yes, you do that." Kyoko muttered. Ever since she hired Takumi Kyoko learned the hard way that her assistant had unusual taste with coffee. It's like every day he found something new to put in it. He seemed to enjoy it, far more than her but…given how proud Takumi was of his "special blends" Kyoko couldn't find it in her to tell him what she really thought of them.

A red biplane known as the Tornado flew through the sky. In the pilot seat as always was its creator, Tails the Fox. In the seat behind him was Amy Rose. But standing on it was none other then Sonic the Hedgehog. The fastest thing alive in his world. The trio had set off on another exciting adventure. "We're coming up on the Starfall Islands." Tails said.

"How exciting!" Amy smiled.

Sonic looked at them. "We tracked the Chaos Emeralds here, right? Let's find out what drew them here!" A small group of large islands could be seen just ahead. The group took in their aerial view of them.

But before they could discuss where to land, red light on Tails' monitor got his attention. Then an alarm went off as the plane started swerving and spinning out of control. The three screamed as Sonic held onto the wing for dear life. "Whoa! There's some kind of atmospheric charge! Hang on!" Tails yelled grappling with the controls.

Just when it started to look like Tails was getting things under control a red flash appeared in front of them before opening some kind of portal. Tails tried his best, but the Tornado was being pulled in. Sonic fell of before he and his friends were drawn into the strange gate.

Takumi and Kyoko stepped into a large room in and underground center within Roppongi. Inside were plenty of employees all scrambling around. They had to stop a couple of times while walking forward to let people pass as to not bump into them. "Sure is…lively." Takumi said.

Kyoko nodded. "Indeed. I guess this experiment is truly important."

"Hey there they are! Guys over here!" They heard Nokia call over and wave them. She Arata, Yuuko and Yuugo were in front of the glass circling around the center of the room.

"Hey guys!" Takumi hurried over.

"Good timing." Arata said. "The show's about to start."

Kyoko walked towards them while looking through the glass. A large, circular machine with a red center plugged in via multiple wires. Inside it were a bunch of scientists all with special protective suits. "So, this is what all the fuss is about."

Yuuko looked at it. "This is the Digital Engine. Father is hopping that this can bring EDEN's digital contents and potential to life."

"I can't even begin to imagine how something like this works." Takumi said.

"It's not all that complicated." Yuugo said. "See, first it takes data from EDEN then uses emits a special kind of wave that when it comes into contact with the atmosphere solidifies and takes the data to shift into-

"Stop! Stop!" Nokia clenched her head. "This is gonna give me a migraine before we even start!"

"Er…Well, maybe it will be easier to show it then explain it. We're just waiting for a final safety check. We'll start in a couple of minutes."

"A Digital Shift…To think this will happen in the same place Crusadermon initiated her Paradise Lost Plan." As Takumi stared at the EDEN Engine thoughts flowed into his mind. Him and his friends as kids eight years ago. Them stumbling into the Digital World. Leaving Yuugo behind after the first Eater got him. Meeting Terriemron, Palmon, and Hagurumon. Meeting Nokia, Arata, and Yuuko again. Meeting Kyoko for the first time. They Royal Knights. All of their battles and hardships. Defeating the Mother Eater. The last time he saw Suedou. The restoration of their worlds. Alphamon and his Digimon putting him back together before saying goodbye. Takumi closed his eyes. "We went through so much together. Terriemron…Palmon…Hagurumon…All the good and the bad we went through together…it made me who I am now. My deepest wish is that we can see each other again so I can tell you that. If we can bring humans and Digimon together peacefully… Will I finally be able to forgive myself for that day?"

"Hello?" Kyoko snapped her fingers in front of him, snapping him back into reality. "Takumi!"

"Ah!" He turned to her. Everyone was staring at him. "Huh?"

"Your head is in the clouds. They said they're about to start."

"O-oh, right." Takumi stared at the engine. Everyone observing stared into the glass.

The door opened and a man with black hair and his secretary Rie Kishibe stepped inside. "Mr. Kamishiro." One of the employees aproached. "We're ready to begin. The final check was successful. All systems are green."

"Very good." The man stood in front of the glass. "Begin."

"Yes sir!" One of the scientists inside the glass nodded. He signalled his subordinates to start the machine. Two of them were at monitors and started typing. One turned up a dial and pressed a button and the engine started to hum and spin. The center glowed red as it's light filled the room.

One of the scientist at a computer watched a bar go up. "We're online. Systems at 20% …50%... 75%...100%!"

Satoru Kamishiro narrowed his gaze. "Commence Digital Shift!"

Takumi saw a purple flash that brought back memories. "Whoa…!"

Arata flinched. "This is…They really did it."

Takumi blinked. "That really was a Digital Shift…"

"Alright…" Another had an image of a Mr. Navit model. "Here we go. Going to transfer Mr. Navit into the physical world." He typed and then hit enter.

The machine hummed louder…And then emitted sparks. "Uh…is that supposed to happen?" Nokia asked.

Alarms went off. "What's happening?" Saruto asked. "Report!"

"Sir! Something's gone wrong! The program just suddenly…changed! Or been replaced! I don't know how but… I think the Digital Engine is about to do something it wasn't built to do!"

"What?! Shut it down!"

One of the scientists pressed a red button but nothing happened. He franticly slammed his hand on it. "The failsafe isn't responding!"

Satoru growled. "Order an evacuation! Now!"

"Yes sir!" One of the men put a device to his mouth and his voice came to the PDA. "All staff and guests, evacuate in an orderly fashion immediately!"

Everyone started running out of the room screaming as alarms went off. A door opened in the glass as the scientists started pouring out. "I think everyone missed the world "orderly"." Arata said.

"Now's not the time to be a smart alec Arata!" Takumi said. "Let's get out of here!"

"Ditto!" Nokia said. As she, Yuuko, Yuugo, Arata, Kyoko and Takumi turned towards the door the room started to shake. "Whoaaa!" She fell down.

"Nokia!" Takumi hurried over to her.

The glass circling the machine shattered making everyone flinch. Parts of the walls and ceiling started to collapse. "Ahh!" Yuuko stumbled backwards, but Yuugo caught her. "What's happening? Father was certain this would be safe!"

"I don't think anyone was expecting this!" Yuugo said. "Come on, we gotta go!"

"Nokia, come on, get up!" Takumi said.

Nokia grabbed his hand as he pulled her up. "Sorry…"

"Let's go! Come on!" Arata said.

As they hurried towards the door where Saturo and Rei were rushing people inside, Kyoko heard a crumbled and looked up. She lunged forward and shoved Takumi a good distance before a huge chunk of the ceiling came down. Takumi grunted as he landed on his front. He got on all fours before looking behind him. "Kyoko!"

Arata, Yuuko, Yuugo and Nokia were almost at the door when they heard their friend shout. They looked behind them to see Takumi on the floor and Kyoko pinned to it by a chunk of debris that buried her legs from her knees down. "Takumi! Kyoko!" Yuugo yelled.

Kyoko grunted as she tried to free herself, but her legs wouldn't move. "Ugh…this case was far more perilous than I anticipated." Takumi got up and tried to pry the chunk of the ceiling up off of Kyoko, but it was far too heavy for him alone. "Takumi, get out of here!"

"I'm not leaving you behind!" Takumi growled as he pulled with all him might.

"Takumi!" Nokia turned back.

"Ugh, that stubborn idiot!" Arata growled before running back for his friends.

"Arata!" Yuugo hurried after him.

"Brother!" Yuuko joined them.

"Yuuko, Yuugo, get in here this instant!" Saruto ordered.

Just as Takumi's friends hurried over and helped him lift, slowly getting the debris off of Kyoko the machine burst in light and crackled with red electricity that formed a greyish ring filled with red bright light that made a vacuum sucking things into it. "Whoa!" Arata was nearly pulled in before grabbing the debris. Soon, Takumi, Nokia, Yuuko, and Yuugo were also holding onto it for dear life.

"W-w-w-what is that?!" Nokia stuttered. Kyoko kept her head down as what was trapping her was now keeping her from being pulled in.

Rie shuddered at the sight. She then pulled Saturo in and slammed the button on the outside of the room. "Hey!" Satoru got up and ran back when the door slammed shut in front of him. "YUUKO! YUUGO!" He banged on the door. "Rie! Open the security door now!"

"Sir, it's too dangerous!"

"You think I haven't noticed!? My son, my daughter and their friends are still in there!"

"Too many people are in this facility! Do you want to put everyone else here in danger?!"

"Ngh…!" He turned to another employee. "Have them pull the breaker!"

"B-but sir, what will happen if we do tha-

"CUT THE POWER NOW!"

"Guys, hold on!" Takumi shouted. "I have a feeling we really don't want to touch…whatever that is!"

"Brilliant deduction Cyber Sleuth!" Arata growled.

"Ngh…" Nokia was slowly pulled in. "I can't…hold on!" Her fingers slipped and she screamed as she flew into the hole.

"Nokia!" Takumi shouted and watched in horror as the hole swallowed her. Arata's grip was the next to slip. "Arata!"

Yuugo noticed Yuuko's fingers were slipping. "Yuuko, grab my hand!"

"Y-Yuugo…" Yuuko slowly reached for her brother but her other hand couldn't hold her from the void on its own and she slipped just as their fingers brushed.

"YUUKO!" Yuugo shouted as she flew towards the void. He was about to let go when Kyoko grabbed his leg.

"No!" Takumi shouted as another friend was lost to the hole. His fingers started to slide on the awkwardly shaped part of the ceiling. "Agh! It's…pulling…harder…!"

"Takumi!" Yuugo grabbed Takumi's arm just as the red-head's grip slipped. "Agh…!" He felt like either his arm or his leg Kyoko was holding onto was about to rip off.

Kyoko grunted as her gloved hand started to slide down Yuugo's leg. "Takumi, hold on!"

Takumi noticed Kyoko's grip on Yuugo's pant leg was slipping. He looked back at the light that swallowed his other friends up. He then looked at Yuugo again who was still holding his wrist tightly intent on not letting go even if it meant this void would suck them both in. Takumi couldn't let that happen. With his free hand he grabbed Yuugo's wrist. "Gah! Takumi, what are you- Yuugo noticed Takumi pulling his grabbed arm. "Wait! No! Takumi, don't! You can still- Takumi yanked his arm free from Yuugo's grip then let go of his arm and was cast into the glowing hole.

"Takumi!" Yuugo and Kyoko shouted as they saw him disappear in a bright light. Kyoko's grip on Yuugo slipped and he was pulled towards the void just before a loud screeching noise was heard. Then the hole vanished, and the lights went out. Yuugo collapsed onto the floor just in front of where the vortex was.

The security door opened and Satoru along with his staff rushed in. He spotted his son and hurried over while others lifted the debris off Kyoko and pulled her out. "Yuugo! Are you alright?! What happened?! Where's Yuuko?!"

Yuugo groaned as his father helped him to his feet. He looked at where the hole they all vanished too was. "Yuuko…everyone…"

Sonic fell out of a red portal that appeared in the sky and landed on solid ground covered in green grass. He took a moment to get a hold of himself before looking round. He was curiously in familiar territory. "Green Hill?! How did I wind up on South Island?"

Takumi opened his eyes and found himself floating in a dark space. He looked around him. "What happened…? Where am I…?" He looked around him. "This…this looks like when I would Connect Jump into something. What's going on?" He stared ahead. It looked like he could move forward. "Well…Nowhere to go but forward from here. Let's see where this leads." He started flying forward. The path stretched ahead and kept going and going. Just when he started to think there was no end, he saw a light. "What's that?" He floated towards it.

Back in what looked like the classic Green Hill, Sonic jumped up and collected a fifth Red Star Ring before a grey circle with a red light, much like the one he fell out of was spotted up ahead. "Hope that's my exit!" He sped up and leapt into it. Everything glowed red before he blacked out.

When Sonic came too, he was the grass in front of a strange alter. He got up and looked around as it rained. "Tails? Amy?" He sighed. "Looks like I'm the only one who made it out of that… whatever it was."

"Mortal."

"Yow!" Sonic turned around as he heard a voice and looked at the sky. "Hello?"

"You have done the impossible. You have escaped Cyber Space through your own power. You are the key."

"Key" huh? Sure beats being called a "rodent". Are you saying I can rescue my friends?"

"Find the Chaos Emeralds. Destroy the Titans. Tear down the walls between dimensions."

"Yeah—okay—sure… how about a little context? Hello?" Sonic listened, but the voice didn't respond. Unbeknownst to him he was being watched from above by a strange girl in black. "Oh well." He tapped his foot on the ground. "Some direction is better than none. Here we go!" He was about to take off at high speed when he heard something behind him. He looked behind him and saw the alter that was glowing red glow yellow. "Okay, that's ominous." He walked towards it. There was a gear pattern on the front. He slowly reached his hand towards it.

A boy with red hair, goggles, a black shirt, and yellow pants stood with a red-headed girl with a blue top, a pink sweater and grey stockings with black heels and a boy with long black hair, a blue body suit and a blue hoodie. The one in blue was looking at some monitors. "Hmmm… There's a certain kind of data known as "Digital Monsters" that you can "capture" by scanning this thing says. Ah! So "Digimon" IS short for "Digital Monster"."

"What? Whoa, hey, hang on! Digimon are like, nasty programs that hackers use, right?" the girl asked. "So then, so then, so then… That means… Have we become hackers?!"

"Well, I suppose you could put it that way."

The red-haired boy looked at him. "You're taking this awfully calmly."

"Well, it's no big deal. Hackers are nothing out of the ordinary nowadays."

The scene changed. The boy with red hair started to collapse as someone aproached. A boy in while was blinking in and out in front of him. He slowly put a hand over the collapsed teen's eyes. Then the vision changed to show what appeared to be the same boy in white and the redhead staring at three creatures that suddenly appeared before them. There was a white rabbit with a horn and green patterns on its fur. There was a green plant creature with a pink flower on its head and finally there was a grey and gold gear with eyes and a mouth. Two small gears orbited in front of it like hands. Then the image showed all three huddling around the boy with goggles. He smiled as he kneeled down to them. The boy in white stood with a giant machine staring at him with interest. "It's very rare to obtain a Digimon without scanning it through Digimon Capture. What's more, for a Digimon to like a person…"

Sonic stumbled back as the image faded from his mind. "What…was that all about?" The pillar glowed brighter, and light flowed down it. "Uh…" The gear pattern in front of him glowed and he jumped back. In a bright flash, the very boy with red hair that he saw materialized onto the ground in front of the alter. "Whoa!" He slowly aproached him. "Um…Hello?" He grabbed the boy's shoulder and shook him. "Hey, you alright there?"

"Oh…" The teenager pressed his hands on the ground and slowly pressed himself up. "My head…what was that?"

"Easy there." Sonic offered a hand. "You hearing me alright?"

Takumi saw a white gloved hand and took it. "Yeah." He looked up the skinny arm and stared at Sonic. Once his jumbled mind started processing, he reacted about the way one in his position would be expected to. "AAAAAHHH!" He backed up against the alter sitting up wide eyed. "W-What the heck is that thing?!"

"Thing?" Sonic shrugged. "Also slightly better then being called "rodent" I guess, but come on, it's like you've never seen a hedgehog before."

"H-hedgehog?! Buddy hedgehogs aren't blue! And don't talk! Or have hands! Or stand on two legs!"

Sonic folded his arms. "Ho boy, you're a long way from home, aren't you fella?" He looked around. "Then again…I'm not entirely sure where I am either. I guess this is the Starfall Islands."

"Starfall…Islands?" Takumi slowly stood up and looked around him. "What is this place?"

"Don't know. My friends and I were following the Chaos Emeralds here when we got sucked into some strange light."

Takumi thought back to what happened in the lab when he thought of the word friends. "Wait…" He stepped off the alter and looked around. "Nokia? Arata! Yuuko! Are any of you there?!" He looked around him but got no answer.

"Soooo just before you came out of this thing, I saw some weird visions with you and some critters." Sonic said leaning against the alter. "Something about hackers and Digital Monsters?"

Takumi turned around. "You saw that? Just before I found myself here, I had memories of how I met my Digimon flowing into my head."

"Huh." Sonic looked up at the alter. "I guess that was this thing's doing. I wounder if I came out of it after running around in what looked like Green Hill." He then turned to Takumi. "Maybe we should start over. Hi! I'm Sonic the Hedgehog. And you are?"

"Takumi…Takumi Aiba."

"Huh. Strange name. So now that we got introductions out of the way, let's get one thing clear, both of us are lost, have no clue what's going on and are missing our friends, yeah?"

"That about sums it up." Takumi said. "But it sounds like you got a better idea on what's happening then me. You mentioned this place is called "Starfall Islands" and you're looking for "Chaos Emeralds"?"

"Yup. So, seeing as we both have no idea what's happening, what say we team up?"

Takumi eyed him worryingly. "What's with this guy? We just met and he wants to work together?" He hesitated a little. "Then again, he doesn't seem like a bad…hedgehog." Takumi thought on it a bit. "…Okay. I guess in times like these two heads are better than one."

"That's the spirit!" Sonic stretched out. "Alrighty then, let's roll!"

Sonic blasted right past Takumi, startling him with his speed. "Whoa! He turned around to see Sonic jump up a small ledge and take off. "H-hey, wait up!"

While collecting a few rings, Sonic kept going and came to a stop in front of a sign with a question mark on it. "Huh…What's this I wounder?" Takumi hurried over. "Oh, hey slowpoke."

"First you suggest we work together, then you leave me in the dust?" Takumi sighed. "Seriously, I've never seen anything so fast…"

"The name's Sonic, couldn't you figure that out? So, what do you think this is all about?"

Takumi looked at the sign. He then stepped forwards and something came into view. Three dark buttons. He walked over and stepped onto one of them and it glowed a bright blue triangle. "A switch?" Sonic ran over the other two then a blue digitalized flash flowed from the sign to the area around them. Takumi heard a ping from his goggles. "My Digivice…" He put them on and looked at a map-or at least part of one appear. "Huh?"

Sonic noticed a red object appear and picked it up. He then looked at Takumi. "See something?"

"Something was just sent to my Digivice. It looks like…a map?"

"For real? Let me see." Takumi handed Sonic his goggles and the hedgehog looked through them. "Huh…Looks heavily incomplete."

"Did those switches do this?" Takumi asked. "Let's keep our eyes peeled for more. Maybe we can fill out the missing pieces."

"Sounds good to me." Sonic tossed Takumi's goggles back to him. "So, how'd you get your goggles to do that?"

"It's called a Digivice. Everyone has them back home. I just have a model that's easy to wear. They can be used to make calls, search the web, all that stuff."

"Sounds like something Tails would make. Well, anyway, let's keep going forward for now."

"Just try to take it slow, would you?" Takumi put his Digivice back on his head. "I can't run that fast."

Sonic grinned at him. "Well, I guess if you have the map, I'm gonna have to make sure not to leave you too far behind. Just try your best to keep up."

"Yeah, sure."

Sonic ran ahead while pacing himself so Takumi could follow but came to almost an immediate halt when he spotted a bunch of black objects on the ground. "Huh? And what might these be?"

Takumi stopped next to him. There were four of them. "Another kind of puzzle maybe?" They started to glow red and morph, growing legs and arms. "Or maybe not…"

Sonic got into a fighting stance as they approached. "Takumi, you might want to step back a bit."

"Sonic? What are you going to- One of the figures rushed at them. Sonic blasted into it with a Homing Attack. As it turned red and started to fade, the others charged at him, but he bounced off them one by one with the same technique. "Wow…"

Sonic landed in front of him. "Well, that's done. What were those things? Some kind of robots?"

"They looked more like digital beings judging by how they vanished." Takumi said before looking back to Sonic. "Still, that was amazing how you took them down so fast!"

"Oh, that? No big deal. I've been scrapping robots for years now. And from my experience, there's usually way more than that, so let's keep on our toes."

"Right."

Takumi and Sonic continued down the corner. Sonic got ahead when he hit a dash pad sending up a grind rail then flung him into a ring. He stopped in front of a structure. "What's this? Some kind of house?"

Takumi was out of breath by the time he caught up. "You call this taking it slow?"

"Hey, I don't control dash panels and grind rails. Can't you use them?"

"I'd rather not attempt it just to fall and injure myself."

Before Sonic could add to the conversation more enemies appeared from the structure and leapt towards them. "Hold that though." He dashed at them and used his Homing Attack on two of them. One of them slid under him and ran towards Takumi. "Shoot! Takumi, look out!"

"Gah!" Takumi saw the enemy pull back its arms as they glowed pink ready to stab. But just when it was about to thrust, purple vines coiled around it's arms holding it back. "Huh?"

Sonic stopped behind the robot. "What the-

"Hey! Spikey guy! Can't do this all day, get him!"

Sonic attacked the robot from behind destroying it. "You okay?"

"Yeah…" Takumi replied. "But what…" He looked at the vines as they retracted towards the top of the structure. "Wait…" There was something on the top of it. "I know that voice…"

Sonic turned around and saw something standing on top of it. "Who…?"

"Takumi!" It launched itself off the building and into Takumi knocking him to the ground.

"Gah!" The teen fell onto his back in a daze. "Ow." He sat up and looked down. Something green with a flower was hugging him. When he saw who it was, he was at a loss for words. "…Palmon?"

The Digimon looked up at him with a smile. "Hi big bro!"

"Palmon!" Takumi stood up and lifted her in his arms. "Is that really you?!"

"You know it!"

Takumi hugged her. "Is this real?! I finally got to see you again!"

Palmon hugged him back. "I missed you Takumi!"

Sonic remembered seeing this creature in the visions he had of Takumi right before meeting him. "Friend of yours?"

"Huh? Oh…" Takumi turned to him. "This is Palmon. She's one of my partner Digimon."

"Okay…what's a Digimon?"

"Well…It's kind of a long story." He turned to Palmon and put her down. "How'd you get here?"

"I was with the others in the Digital World when I saw this weird hole. And then we heard your voice coming from it and decided to check it out. But it was super small so the only way to fit in was to go back to Rookie form and dive in."

"I see…So that means Terriermon and Hagurumon are here too?"

"Yeah, but I was alone when I landed here. I guess they got sent somewhere else? Anyway, I wondered around for a bit then when I saw you with this blue Digimon here."

"Yeah, I'm a hedgehog, thanks." Sonic said.

"Uh, right." Takumi said. "Palmon, this is Sonic. He was the first thing I saw after I wound up on this Island." He looked ahead. "Let's keep walking as we talk."

"Sounds good to me." Palmon said. They continued on ahead at an easy pace. "So, how'd you get here Takumi?"

"Yeah, you never did tell me what you're doing here." Sonic said.

"You never asked." Takumi retorted.

"Fair enough."

"Well, I was with Nokia, Arata, Yuuko, Yuugo and Kyoko at an experiment at Kamishiro Enterprises."

"Never heard of it. Is that some big-shot company?"

"Yeah. Anyway, they were testing an engine that Yuuko and Yuugo thought could recreate the Digital Shift."

"Really?" Palmon asked.

Sonic stepped on a Jump Panel and flew over some small cliffs. "Okay, cool. What's a Digital Shift?"

"It's a special phenomenon that causes data and digital masses to interact with a physical plain." Takumi said as he and Palmon started climbing the small cliffs while Sonic watched them. "So anyway, when they started it up the machine started going haywire. Then some weird hole appeared and Arata, Nokia, and Yuuko fell into it. Yuugo and Kyoko tried to save me, but I thought Kyoko's grip on Yuugo was going to slip so I let go before we could both fall in. I think it closed after it swallowed me."

"Wow, lucky you." Sonic said taking Takumi's hand and pulling him up the last one.

"Palmon have you seen Nokia, Arata or Yuuko?"

Palmon stretched her ivy fingers to the last clifftop and sprung up it. "Nope. Sorry."

"If all of you were sent through the same thing, I'm sure they're around somewhere." Sonic said. "We'll find em."

"Thanks Sonic." They continued walking until the saw a small, dome-like area in a large hole. Takumi stopped them. "Hey…what's that?"

Sonic squinted to get a better look at a black being with long sharp limbs and a red glowing triangle on its head. "Looks like another one of those bots."

"Yeah. This one looks special though."

"Pfft. I've seen more impressive. Let me at em!" Sonic jumped inside.

"Sonic!" Takumi sighed. "Sorry Palmon, but you mind backing him up?"

"You got it!" Palmon leapt inside and landed next to Sonic. "We'll show him what's what!"

Sonic used his Homing Attack, bouncing off the enemy twice before it started blocking with its arms. Then it swiped at him with his blade arms. Sonic was flung back before the rings he collected flew out of him. "Sonic!" Takumi shouted before he slid down the pit. "Palmon, cover me!"

"Got it!" Palmon ran at the enemy as it slowly aproached. "Poison Ivy!" The vines on her hands tangled around its arms. She grunted and tried to pull but it swung her onto the other side of it, slamming her onto he back.

Takumi was crouched down next to Sonic when he saw it. "Palmon!"

"Okay…" Sonic stood up. "So, this one knows how to take a hit."

Takumi was taken aback. "You're okay! Wait, you don't even have a scratch on you!"

"I'm fine so long as I got me a ring or two." He then prepared to charge again when Takumi grabbed his arm.

"Sonic, wait! He's good at blocking and countering attacks. Instead of ramming at him repeatedly try to dodge its attacks and wait for an opening instead."

"Worth a shot." Sonic ran up towards the target again. It raised its arms and Sonic rolled to the side just as it swung and rammed it with the Homing Attack again.

"Palmon, now!"

"Thorn Thrust!" Takumi's Digimon stabbed it in the back with her ivy.

"Nice!" Sonic jumped up and kicked it in the face, knocking it over. It then exploded.

Up the cliffside they came from overlooking the pit, someone watched Palmon and Sonic high five. Takumi didn't notice as he aproached the two. "Nice work guys."

"It was thanks to your strategy Takumi!" Palmon said.

Sonic held his thumb up. "Yeah! Good thinking dude!"

"Thanks." Takumi then noticed a glowing blue gear where the Ninja fell. "Huh?" He walked over and picked it up. "What's this?" It then became blue pixels and flew into him. "Huh…That's new."

"Not bad. About what I expected from you."

Takumi felt a jolt when he heard a familiar voice behind him. Sonic turned around to see a woman with glasses and lavender hair dressed in white and black holding with a laptop. "Whoa! Where'd you come from?"

Takumi looked at the woman in surprise. "Mirei!"

And that is chapter one. I hope you all enjoyed the beginning of this weird idea and will stick around as it develops.
