London

When Dylan came back home he didn't expect to find Brenda. She was there, in the dark and awaited him. The darkness helped Brenda. It made her think, in a paradox, it made it possible for her to see more clearly.

Dylan turned on the light.

"Brenda..." he said in a fain voice.

Dylan looked at her face better and realized that she had just cried.

"What's going on? Didn't you have to be at rehearsals late?"

"It would have been convenient for you, wouldn't it?"

"What do you mean?"

Brenda got up in silence, took something from the bedside table and showed it to Dylan.

She had found his doses of heroin. Dylan didn't even know how.

"I can explain to you"

"Start with why you came here Dylan"

Dylan hadn't told her anything about Suzanne, Kevin, and the fact that he had nothing left.

When he noticed the scam his forces had bent over and he had taken the first flight to London.

He wanted to see her, he wanted to be with her.

Brenda had left so she didn't have to endure the pain but the pain had decided that she needed her.

That day she was coming back from one of the classes at RADA.

She got off the subway and walked home quickly. She had found a very nice studio apartment, a bit expensive but decidedly artistic. Brenda needed new beginnings and those beginnings had the London zip code. Every day she thought of him, she knew that he and Kelly had broken up and these were the only news he had been confirmed. Subsequently, the lessons had busy her a lot and so had the new friendships. Until he saw it appear. To tell the truth, it felt like a dream at first, a fucking imagination.

He had asked to be able to stay and not to ask questions.

She had let him get back into her life. Dylan's eyes were different. They were hiding something but Brenda was too happy to ask him, she was afraid that some questions would send him away again.

Until that evening. Up to the doses of heroin found at her house. In the drawer near the bed where they made love.

Her pain was intense again.

"What happened to you" Brenda asked trying to stay strong "talk to me"

Kevin, Suzanne, his stupidity and naivety.

Dylan had confused thoughts from the alcohol he had consumed. Brenda wasn't supposed to come back until late at night. He would have had time to take a shower. To sleep. Recover.

Instead she was there in front of him.

"I ..." Dylan stammered, looked around.

Brenda couldn't believe that betrayal, yet another betrayal.

"I think you have to leave Dylan"

"Brenda please"

Brenda was dying of fear, Dylan's living wound pulsated in her heart, she remembered his brutal look at the park as he told her about him and Kelly, the time it had taken to shed salt over her scar, alone, isolated from a group that she believed her friends. Brenda didn't want to go back to that abyss.

Dylan didn't say anything else, he just took his jacket and closed the door.

Brenda collapsed at the exact moment she saw him disappear from the horizon of her home's street.

A month later.

Los Angeles.

Kelly's phone was ringing insistently. She was still in bed watching Brandon get dressed in a hurry. He was late. His parents were waiting for him to go to the airport.

Kelly enjoyed watching him. He was hot. Brandon. She had always liked him, from the first moment she had seen him, yet he didn't seem to really see her, until this summer, until the moment Kelly jumped into the dark and took a plane to reach him in Washington.

She still remembers his barely awake face and those bright blue eyes looking at her in amazement as he opened his room's door.

They had not been able to tell this when they kissed at the retreat with the rector, they had buried everything in fear of hurting someone. They had stopped.

They had told Dylan the truth and nothing else had happened.

Deep in her heart though, Kelly had never stopped looking at Brandon, falling in love with his smile, the way he dealt with everything, the way he made her feel protected and filled every crack Kelly carries back like heavy luggage.

From that moment, from that night spent together in D.C. Kelly and Brandon had no longer separated, they had let summer flow between their fingers, secluded, together, only a few knew about them, Andrea who had given the blessing, Jim and Cindy and Brenda. No one else. They hadn't felt the need to tell others.

But summer was about to end and friends were about to come back. Brandon dressed while Kelly woke up slowly.

"We forgot to set the alarm," Kelly said.

"No no," Brandon replied, approaching her, "you forgot to set the alarm."

"I was distracted," Kelly laughed.

"I like distractions," Brandon replied.

"Me too," she said.

The two smiled at each other with a fresh love, just blossomed.

Kelly looked at Brandon, felt that different love making its way but feared the reaction of all the friends. Especially Dylan.

They had left badly, they hadn't kept in touch all summer, she had slipped into an obnoxious triangle again, even if this time it was different, she really wanted Brandon, it wasn't a whim, and she was frustrated with the luggage she carried with all that useless mess between her, Brenda and Dylan.

This is why she had insisted with Brandon that he not say anything to the others yet and Brandon reluctantly had accepted except to Brenda, she knew. Her sister was weird on the phone, she didn't want to explain, but a twin knows when something finds obstacles.

He had tried to ask but Brenda had replied that she was happy for him and Kelly, who after all had always hoped for them a little, that if he was happy then she had to be too.

A few sentences. Actually Brenda couldn't decipher what she felt, first Dylan, then her brother. She hoped with all her heart that Kelly wouldn't hurt Brandon. That's what Brenda was afraid of.

Brandon noticed Kelly's sweet look on him.

"See you later at the barbecue?" Brandon asked as he approached to kiss Kelly:

"What if we see each other here now?" She responded by returning the kiss and holding Brandon longer.

"Do you want to make me late?" He smiled.

"I just want a little more distraction," Kelly replied.

Brandon didn't have it repeated twice and began kissing her neck as she unbuttoned his pants and let him slip into her bed. They started making love.

It would have been late, but it was worth it.

London/Los Angeles

"Your room is so different from mine in Buffalo," Valerie said on the phone with Brenda.

"I'm sure you'll take care of it"

"I'm so happy to be here," she replied in a lower tone.

"After all you've been through, I hope this is your chance," Brenda told her.

"You're really not going back?"

Brenda watched the sunset of London for a moment. He thought of Dylan, wondered where he was, then threw that thought away. Immediately. She didn't want to be hurt yet.

"Not for now," Brenda replied.

Valerie basically didn't mind, she liked to have a room all to herself, to be in California.

Suddenly the image of his father with a bullet in his head made room because she had wanted it. She had strongly wanted him to die but when she found herself in front of that scene for some reason her world had equally fallen apart.

"I have to go," said Valerie, "your parents organized a welcome barbecue for me, Brandon went to get your friends"

"My friends..." Brenda sighed.

"I think there will be that Kelly, the Kelly, too," Valerie grinned.

"Kelly is now with Brandon, Valerie.."

"It's going to be nicer to take him off..." Valerie replied.

Brenda laughed "behave Val"

"Who? Me?" Valerie was ironic.

"Have you met Dylan by any chance?" Brenda asked.

"Your Dylan?"

Brenda didn't answer.

"No, I didn't know him, but I heard Brandon tell Jim that he's been missing since the beginning of the summer.. no one knows where he is" .

Brenda looked down. . No one knew he had come to her in London and no one knew where he was at the time.

Brenda heard a knock on her door.

"I have to go," Brenda said.

They hung up and Brenda went to open the door.

"Daniel.." she exclaimed as soon as she saw the guy in front of him, Brenda looked lost "what are you doing here?"

Daniel gave her a wonderful smile "we had an appointment to go together to the rehearsals, the others are waiting for us in the street".

Brenda felt silly.

"I didn't see the clock"

Daniel remained calm. His green eyes were looking at Brenda. He had always found her stunning, from day one, and the fact of attending classes together had helped him overcome his shyness with the girls. He liked her. There was something about Brenda Walsh that had kidnapped him immediately and he cursed himself for no longer being unscrupulous and brave.

Brenda grabbed her bag that was at the entrance.

"I'm ready," she smiled him, "let's go."

Los Angeles

Kelly was finishing her makeup. Brandon had insisted on picking her up. It seemed like a sweet thing to her.

She felt that all that attention made her stronger. She wasn't used to it. She had never had nice guys to her.

Dylan had been at first then he had easily withdrawn into his tired attitude of the world. Sometimes it seemed like she even bothered him.

The reason she had resisted so much was because that love had had a very high cost and that's just why she insisted that it work but It didn't.

The wounds of one added to those of the other and in the end it was impossible to sear that chasm.

Dylan had inhabited her imagination, she also wanted what Brenda had had, She had believed she could have someone who loved her.

Kelly was frightened by the idea of his judgment as soon as he heard about her and Brandon. She feared especially for their friendship, Brandon and Dylan's one, she didn't want what had irretrievably happened to her and Brenda to happen to them.

They knocked on the door, Kelly went to open convinced that it was Brandon and instead found herself in front of Steve with a wonderful Hawaiian necklace of white flowers.

Steve put the necklace around her neck and gave her two kisses on the cheeks.

"How are you Kelly?" He asked with an enlightened smile.

Kelly didn't know what to say and turned around as soon as she heard Brandon's voice coming in from the main entrance.

"Kelly I'm here"

Brandon immediately noticed Steve's presence.

"What are you doing here?" Steve asked.

Brandon didn't know what to answer, it had been years that he had avoided going any further with Kelly and It was for Steve , so as not to hurt him, but as soon as he had seen Kelly in Washington. As soon as he had opened the door and walked with her hand in hand through the streets of Washington he realized that she could be a love for him, He was scared but he felt happy for once Brandon Put his heart before reason.

From Brandon and Kelly's gaze, Steve immediately understood what didn't need to be told.

Kelly was right, Steve ran to her every time his love life had an imbalance but deep down they hadn't been together for over four years.

Kelly had gone further.

He pretended to be angry and took a dubious look when Brandon invited him to the barbecue to meet Valerie.

"It's from Buffalo... how interesting can one of Buffalo be?"

Brandon smiled at him. He was always his friend, Steve knew it, he knew Brandon was his best friend, and if Kelly could be happy, he was ready to take a step back, a step that wasn't even difficult for him to take.

London.

"Can I take you home?" Daniel asked at the end of the evening.

Brenda was embarrassed.

"But you live on the other side of town..." she suggested to Daniel.

"It's true, but if you allow me I would like to accompany you and just be sure you come home safe and sound, lately London is not a safe city."

Daniel looked at her with extremely serene eyes, a serenity that had disappeared from Brenda's eyes.

Brenda nodded, David called a cab on the fly that stopped immediately.

He let Brenda come up and then sat down next to her.

Daniel didn't want anything, he just wanted to get to know Brenda, understand her story. He just knew that she was American and that at some point something in her eyes had gone out.

Daniel had no pretensions but loved to be next to her and as London flowed the two had a pleasant chat.

The asphalt was wet. The lucid road.

Brenda could see Dylan reflected, but the margins were less defined.

The seasons of the heart, Brenda had called them that. See him, think of him. Go further.

Daniel make sure Brenda opened the door to her apartment.

"Healthy and safe," she said.

Daniel smiled in a sweet way.

"I'm glad I accompanied you," he said, gave her a kiss on the cheek that surprised Brenda and left her a smile as she saw him go down the stairs of her floor to leave.

Los Angeles.

Steve had literally been struck by love as soon as he saw Valerie. She was nothing short of gorgeous.

Wonderful physique, big blue eyes. She looked like a naive Mid West girl and that excited Steve.

That evening they all went out together.

Every now and then Valerie watched Kelly and Brandon who seemed unable to get their hands off, watched them move and kiss deeply.

They could have undressed and done it directly on the dance floor.

In Valerie's eyes this was even more exciting.

She didn't like Kelly, from the beginning, the rest had been added by Brenda's about what Dylan and Kelly had done to her.

Valerie watched Brandon and Kelly touching, making out, kissing and she imagined for a moment that she was her. Taking everything she had, had had and will have.

She smiled and got even closer to Steve.

Donna had been left alone at the table and this convinced everyone to come back to order something to drink.

They were chatting generically with Valerie about Los Angeles, college enrollment.

That world was extremely exciting for the newcomer so far from Buffalo.

Suddenly something caught Donna's attention, she jumped up, she said something like "I'm going home alone I'm tired".

David had just walked in to dance and Donna's heart had fallen apart.

David the traitor. David with whom she had never spoken. David that was supposed to be forever and that had thrown himself into the middle of Ariel's thighs. Several times.

It had happened several times and he had told her.

Donna breathed a long sigh as she tried to stop a taxi. Tears came down and she couldn't do anything.

'Donna!' Kelly's voice reached her behind her.

Donna tried to wipe away her tears.

"Don't worry... it's nothing"

"Donna..." sighed Kelly tender from that heartbroken so much that she even felt guilty because hers was bursting with happiness.

The taxi stopped and Donna gave Kelly a kiss on the cheek "don't worry. I'll talk to you later," she said and then the car slipped away.

The evening had no longer continued in the same way, Valerie suffered the effects of the Jet Leg and could not contain Steve who on the contrary was super excited by her presence.

Valerie wasn't modest, she could have made out with Steve at the time while they waited for Brandon and Kelly and maybe she would.

She could imagine that it was David, or Brandon, or the mysterious Dylan of whom she had only seen a photo .

Steve liked her but he didn't physically attract her. It didn't matter. Valerie was alienated to sex. SHe didn't feel anything. SHe could do it with anyone and feel nothing.

Love was far away for Valerie. Her only love up to that point had been Tom but Tom was wearing the smell of Buffalo on him and Valerie kept feeling it.

Kelly and Brandon couldn't stop kissing in front of her porch.

"Do you want to come in?" She asked him.

"You know I wouldn't have it repeated twice," he replied.

"I understand," Kelly nodded with her arms around her neck and continuing to kiss him.

"It's Valerie's first night..."

Kelly nodded "I'll miss you tonight"

"You too..." he replied to her without being able to break away.

"Are you sure? We have ten minutes don't we?"

Brandon didn't answer and let himself be dragged into the dark corner To indulge in her body and mind. Ten minutes, maybe more.

The sun was rising on the other side of the world as night went down in this part. Dylan's eyes were in the middle, barred, lost. In an unknown place.
