Two months ago, Spencer Cassadine and his brother Ace Cassadine had disappeared from Port Charles, taken aboard The Haunted Star by Spencer's Great Uncle Victor Cassadine. It had been after a small argument with Trina. Spencer had been called away by his Uncle and that had been the last time she had seen him. Everyone had gone out searching for the missing Cassadines, but it was of no use, especially after the device that was supposed to track the yacht was found on the docks. Spencer and his brother were gone without a trace, leaving the people that loved them back in Port Charles to grieve.

Trina especially was a mess. Her last words to Spencer had been angry ones because she just couldn't understand his need to fight with Joss's boyfriend Dex and she had told him to apologize. Then he had received that stupid phone call and she had allowed him to walk away from her without a word. Now she wished she had said something. Done something. Followed him, called the police, fought with him more just to keep him from boarding that ship...anything. But hindsight was 20/20. Spencer was gone without a trace. They had just become an official couple, and just like her luck...he was gone.

She felt like old Rose from Titanic. Talking about Jack and realizing that she didn't even have a picture of him. She didn't even have a picture of Spencer.

Exams were over and the dorms were closing. Trina tried not to think about Spencer as she packed up her stuff...then she came across the art book that he had given her. She had read the inscription he had written and felt the tears fill her eyes. Joss entered the room, wanting to make sure she had gotten all her things when she froze at the sight of Trina sitting on her bed, art book in hand, and the never-ending flow of tears in her eyes.

"They'll find him, Trina. I'm sure of it," Joss sat down next to her friend and wrapped an arm around her shoulder. She had been worried for Trina since Spencer's disappearance. She had watched as her friend sunk lower and lower into depression and she had no idea how to help.

"If they were going to find him, they would have done so by now," Trina sniffed. "It's not fair. We had just become a couple. We had decided to be together and now this happens. He just disappears without a trace...without a goodbye…"

"Maybe this was just some game to him and he took off with his Uncle for some Cassadine reason."

Trina rolled her eyes, feeling impatient. "No! No, something happened! You don't get it! When we decided to be together...he was so nervous and happy...you didn't see the look on his face. It was pure happiness. He wouldn't have left just like that. He would have at least said goodbye! Plus his brother was taken, remember? Spencer may have wanted custody, but he wouldn't have taken him like that."

"I'm sorry, Trina. I know how much you wanted to be with him. I'm also sorry that I was the reason you two had words before he was taken."

"I never said that I blamed you."

"You didn't have to. I saw the side eyes and the way you looked at me whenever I went to meet Dex or he was around."

Trina sighed and looked at her hands, feeling even more wretched. "It's not that I blame you...much. Just a tiny part of me does and I try not to. I know it's not your fault...it's his Uncle's. I just...I wonder where he is. If he's safe. If he found some way to be happy. I try to feel glad that at least he and Ace are together, wherever they are. But he's not with me and that's what's tearing me up inside! I can't even seek comfort from my Mom, because I'm so mad at her right now! And my dad is glad I was nowhere near Spencer when he was taken...no one understands except for Mayor Collins!"

"We're trying to."

"I know. I know and I appreciate it."

"Well...today is the last day for the dorm room. Where are you going to go?"

Trina frowned. She hadn't really given much thought to where she was going to live. "I don't know. I haven't really thought about it."

"You're welcomed to come to stay with me if you want…"

Go live with Joss and watch her and Dex make out while she sits there and misses Spencer like crazy and wonder if they would have been as close if he hadn't been taken away? No thanks! "No, that's alright. Maybe I can stay with Ava. She has all that room at Wyndemere."

Joss made a face and then shrugged. "I can't see her saying no to you."

"I know that you don't like her, but...she's the only one that gets me right now. She knew how I felt about Spencer and...well she's really the closest thing that I have to a mother right now."

"I guess that I can understand that. And it is a good idea. You're safe there and...you'll probably feel closer to Spencer as well."

"Yeah."

"Well, I gotta go. Dex and I are...ugh. I'm so self-centered. Here you are missing your would-be boyfriend and here I am talking about mine. I'm a sucky friend," Joss winced.

Trina was tempted to agree with her on that, but instead, she pushed those feeling aside and forced a smile, trying to be happy for her friend. "Go enjoy your boyfriend, Joss. I'll just pack up my things and head to the gallery to talk to Ava."

"Ok. I'll call you later," Joss hugged Trina one last time before getting up and walking out the door.

Trina frowned, resisting the urge to hurl the book at the closed door. Instead, she hugged it to her chest and began to cry once again, missing Spencer more than ever. She had left so many things unsaid. She had never told him her true feelings. That she had fallen in love with him ages ago. She had fallen so hard, she doubted that she'll ever be able to love again. Not in the deep, unconditional way that she loved him.

She just hoped that he was safe and that he never forget her. That maybe one day, she'll see him again. That was all she could ever hope to ask for.

…..

Spencer stood behind his Uncle, watching the older man glare at Dr. Obrect as she explained the vaccine to the pathogen that he planned to release into the atmosphere. He sighed and stared up at the ceiling, unable to believe that this was his life. Two months ago, his life seemed to be going as he had dared to dream and hope it would. He had just gotten the girl of his dreams to be his once and for all. Then...his Uncle, a man he should have known better than to trust, had lured him onto the Haunted Star and his life had never been the same since. Everything he had ever known, was gone. His chance with Trina. His chance to win custody of his brother. His chance to be a better man than his father. All of it was gone and there was no way of getting it back. The only thing he could do was keep the people he loved safe by doing as he was told and by negotiating every now and then. Right now, one of those negotiations was to become a reality. Safety for the woman he loved.

"Perfect! The Vaccine is ready! Now to administer it to my beloved nephews and give enough to you for yourself and your loved ones," Victor happily smiled, rubbing his hands together, happy about Dr. Obrect's success.

"And Trina! Remember, Uncle. You promised. If I stopped fighting you and trying to escape, you promised that you'd have a vaccine for Trina and my grandmother, or was that a lie?" Spencer folded his arms, willing to fight for this. He'd do anything to make sure that Trina and his grandmother were safe from his Uncle's diabolical plans.

"Of course, I remember! Even though I rather leave Laura out of the equation, but as a favor to you, I'll allow it and Trina will be saved as well. Will that satisfy you?"

No, it really didn't. He would also like a vaccine for all of his friends and family, but he knew that he was pushing it with Trina and really pushing it with his grandmother. It was best not to push any further or else his Uncle won't include Trina and Laura at all! At least he was able to save the two women he loved.

"So what now?" Obrect asked, eyeing both Spencer and Victor curiously.

"Administer the vaccine to my nephews and my guards and myself. Then you may take the allotted portion back to Port Charles for your family and Spencer's loved ones," Victor turned to Spencer. "See, my nephew. You behave yourself and I keep my promises. Keep up the good behavior and I'll let you see your brother."

"When can I see Trina?" Spencer couldn't help it. He had to ask. He missed her so much, it was a constant ache in his chest.

"For right now, there are no plans for that, Spencer. You will simply have to get over her. It is enough that I'm allowing you to get the vaccine to her."

"Get over her? You know how I feel about her! You know that…"

"Enough! I'm allowing you to get her the vaccine, which means that I am sparing her the same fate as most of the world's population! I expect a bit more gratitude than that! I am being quite generous here, Spencer. But there's a point where my generosity ends!"

Spencer opened his mouth as if to argue, but then closed it again, knowing that there was no use. He might as well consider Trina lost to him for good. "I just wanted a chance with her. One chance and you couldn't even let me have that."

"Take it from me, nephew. Love makes you weak. Someday, you'll thank me for stepping in."

Dr. Obrect gave Spencer a sympathetic look. "I will give her your regards?"

Spencer didn't say anything. He just stood there and glared at the ground, wishing that his last name was something other than Cassadine. Maybe then he could have had the life he had wanted with Trina. A life that was just a dream now. A dream that he was being forced to walk away from.
