...
Al Sayad formerly known as David Keller watched with curious eyes as Al Sahim ran his fingers along the books. It was as if he was looking for something behind the journal. Sayad wasn't sure what he was looking for. Instincts told the alpha it had to do with the so called Seekers. There was more to it than what the young omega had said.
From what Al Sahim had said there shouldn't be anything special about seekers. They were the studious types who preferred old books to fighting. So what were they in the library? What had Al Sahim so interested in the plain looking brown haired man? He had the feeling he was missing something important.
A short beep drew Sayad's attention. It was time to contact Ra's Al Ghul and give him a progress report. Al Sahim's attention was still on the books so Sayad left the room. He headed up the stairs of the building to the next landing. Then he pulled out his phone and dialed a number he had memorized years ago. It rang twice before it was picked up. Sayad gave a confirmation phrase before he was sent through to Ra's.
His master's calm low baritone came through, "Sayad. What is your update?"
"My liege," he replied in an emotionless voice, "Al Sahim and I tracked the target to a local cemetery. He is currently being protected by over two dozen men in suits. So far we have not found a chance to get close to him."
"A cemetery?" Hummed Ra's, "Our information doesn't show any loss in the family. Do you know why he was there?"
Here he hesitated. Sayad didn't have the first hand knowledge that Al Sahim did. A low growl came from the older alpha made a shiver run down his spine.
"What is it, Sayad?"
He winced at the tone. His master was annoyed which never fared well for anyone. Despite his master not being able to see him Sayad bent his head slightly.
Then he answered, "Al Sahim recognized one of the men in suits as something called a Seeker. It is not a term I am familiar with but he did give a kind of description of them. Most Seekers are older and they tend to be archeologists, librarians, or historians. While the younger ones can be just about anything."
"Including a certain billionaire," sighed his master, "I have heard of Seekers but if they are the same kind of Seekers that he is speaking about then this is above your capabilities. A single Seeker cannot go up against a group of more than two dozen. It isn't feasible. Especially for one as out of practice as young Al Sahim."
That piqued his curiosity and he just as he heard a triumphant cry from the library, "What do you mean by that? If any other Seekers seem to have a kind of faith in Al Sahim. One of them left their journal here and if his reaction to it was any indication that's not something that happens very often."
"Seekers are different from even us," said his master in a dark voice, "The closest group I could describe them as would be Metahumans. Their powers are all around the same lines it just comes down to preference. The main danger when it comes to a Seeker is not the Seeker themselves. But the amulets they carry about with them. They call beasts from another realm into ours. The strength of these creatures vary from one to the next. But even the weakest ones could kill a human if they wanted to."
Creatures huh? As long as Sayad had known Al Sahim he wasn't someone to wear any kind of jewelry. So if they were to go after their target how would they be able to do it? His master already said that one Seeker alone couldn't fight so many.
An explosion sounded from below him knocking Sayad off balance. What. The. Fuck?! He left Al Sahim alone for five minutes. What possibly could have happened while he was on the phone?
Sayad was moving down the stairs before his brain could catch up with him. The scent of smoke and charred hair made him cough. He pushed the library doors open his free hand on one of his blades. Only to pause and blink at the scene in front of him.
Once. Twice. Three times he blinked trying to comprehend the site of a lean purple fox wolf looking thing that was sitting on Al Sahim's chest. The young omega was grinning wildly as he ran his hand through its fur.
Distantly he could hear Ra's asking what had happened. How was he supposed to explain this when he didn't understand it himself. He asked again.
"What. The. Fuck?"
Al Sahim and the creature turned to look at him with eerily similar expressions that sent a shiver down his spine. It was like looking into the eyes of a wild hungry tiger. Or a wolf might be more accurate.
"I'm sorry," apologized Al Sahim, "I accidentally bonded with a Titan I found. Of course Jirwolf here didn't take too kindly to it and forced a materialization. Jirwolf let me up."
The creature, titan? moved off of the man and allowed him to return to his feet. When he stood and chided the creature quietly as he rubbed the back of his head. That's when Sayad caught a flash of silver metal. There in his hand was a green and white amulet. It was shaped oddly and for some reason he didn't believe it belonged to the creature who was looking like a kicked puppy.
Then it turned into a purple light and returned to the amulet. Al Sahim staggered nearly collapsing onto the ground. This man... He was going to be the death of Sayad. How did Al Owal put up with him for so long?
"Sayad!"
Oh he had screwed up. By the paling of Al Sahim he realized it too. The omega offered his hand to take the phone. With some reluctance Sayad allowed the omega to take it.
...
"Master, I can explain," tried Oliver his voice but he was soon interrupted.
"Al Sahim, report," growled the alpha, "Where is Sayad? What was the explosion?"
"Al Sayad has handed me the phone since I can better explain what happened," answered Oliver as he brought the amulet up to look into the green stone, "I have found a stash of previously bonded titans in the Safe House I took us to. Given the scope of our mission and the addition of titans into my arsenal I believe I can fight my way to the target."
"Al Sahim..." Rumbled Ra's.
Oliver bit his lip to keep from snapping at Ra's. He knew for a fact if they didn't get this guy now there would be no second chances. He would go to ground. Oliver could do this.
As much as he hated to admit it the feeling of his seeker powers flowing again was intoxicating. Though he only had two titans so far. He would need to go through the rest of the emergency stash to see who he could bond with.
"Are you sure?" Asked Ra's finally and Oliver let out a relieved breath, "Sayad said there were more than two dozen there. It would be up to you to get through them as traditional weapons don't affect titans."
"I can do this, Master," reiterated Oliver, "Much like an assassin the Seeker's power comes from their heart. In another life by another name I was a skilled Seeker sought after by the Guilds. My time away has made me stronger in spirit and body. It will have made me stronger as a Seeker as well."
There was silence and for a moment Oliver thought he overstepped. If he had it would prove painful when they returned to Nanda Parbat.
Then Ra's gave the order, "Go but ensure you return to Nanda Parbat. If that means you must retreat so be it. We will have another chance."
That was a lie but Oliver didn't call him out on it. Instead he simply said, "As you command."
