Time passed and Kinala was soon grown up enough to be called an adult Gelfling. But she was still the human and Sil's adopted daughter.

Kinala even started favoring one of the male Gelflings among the guards. He was of the Stonewood Clan. He was called Ninjack.

Ninjack was a little older than Kinala, but she loved him for his sweet and gentle personality, but he knew when to rise to the occasion of a battle. He had the usual dark blue hair and brown eyes.

The human was glad to see her daughter finding love among one of her own. Despite her being raised as a princess here by her and a Skeksis, at least Kinala hadn't been raised without other Gelfling around.

For right now, it was only the human that knew of her daughter's choice. Sil still didn't know about it. The human had told Kinala to not tell her dad about it right away. She would tell him herself. Kinala agreed. She hoped her dad would approve.

One night, when Sil and her were talking, the girl told Sil about Ninjack and Kinala becoming like how they were. Kinala was over nineteen trines old now. She was a grown up for Gelfling standards. Subadult rather.

"Figured day would come when daughter would want to have mate of other Gelfling." Sil sighed.

"She deserves to have a love of her own just as we have it." The human pointed out.

"Know who Ninjack is. He is Stonewood Clan. Vapran Clan would not allow that. Nor would Stonewood." Sil stated.

"Sil, they aren't with their clans. They could have a relationship here in the castle when they aren't busy with chores or orders." The human urged.

"Hmmm, perhaps yes. Kinala can have her wish granted to have Ninjack as her soon to be mate." Sil agreed. The human sure knew how to convince him of things with better judgment.

"I won't be around as long as you will be, Chamberlain. I need you to be able to be there for her when I'm not here anymore." The human said to her husband.

"Yes, will be. Is Human dying?" Sil asked.

"No. Not right now. I just wanted you to be clear on that. I'm now past my childbearing years and am so glad for that now. No more evil periods!" The human smirked.

"Yes, no longer smell heat cycle on Human." Sil answered.

"So, we can give Kinala our blessing that she can be with Ninjack?" She asked.

"Yes. But Emperor may not be too happy with any baby Gelfling here in castle again." Sil declared. "All Gelfling usually want childlings of their own."

"I would love some grandchildren." The human said.

"Still feel too young to get those." Sil stated.

"You're not as young as you used to be."

"Yes, aware of that." Sil said.

"Sil, if things start to get to be too hard for Kinala when she wants to start a family, if she does, would you be willing to let her go? With humans, when our kids grow up, they often leave their parents' homes and go live with their spouse to start families of their own. It's part of loving and letting go. But they come and visit." The human explained.

"Kinala has served Skeksis good for many trines. Sure, would like her to stay. She stay here in castle and raise family here. Not leaving. But talk to Emperor." Sil declared.

"Sure, that's great."

….

Sil and his girl talked to the emperor about Kinala possibly starting a family of her own one day.

The emperor had liked having the young Gelfling be a messenger and diplomat. "No, she will not leave the castle. She will have her family here." He decreed. "She is our permanent princess."

"Okay."

It was later told to Kinala that she was welcome to find love with Ninjack if that's what she wanted. She had her parents' and the emperor's blessing. But the handling of babies would be the Gelflings' doing.

It was agreed to that.

…..

More time passed. Kinala and Ninjack were wed and were glad they had their emperor's blessing. Kinala had to wait a good many trines before she finally was able to become a mother. By that time, her human mother was well into her seventies.

Sil and her had had a long, wonderful marriage over the trines. There had been stressful times too. But the Skeksis had come to accept her as nearly as one of their own.

The human had come down with an unknown health ailment that the Scientist didn't even know about. The girl wasn't sure herself, but cancer was a good likely answer. She was losing weight and her hair. She didn't want to eat anymore. She would throw up more. It wasn't good.

She was now confined to her bed. Tek and Sil were her main visitors. Kinala and Ninjack were expecting their first child. It wasn't long that it was born that they came to visit her to show her the new baby. It was a girl. She was named Talia.

The girl was proud to see and meet her new 'granddaughter' for the first time. "It's nice to meet you, little Talia. I wish I could see you grow up." The human said in a loving voice. Then she gave her back to her parents. "Take good care of her." She said.

"We will, Mom." Kinala replied. "We'll tell her about you."

"Yes, even me." Sil stated.

"At least the baby will have you in her life." The human stated. "Just know that I love you, Chamberlain, and Kinala."

"Yes. Love Human too." Sil replied and he licked her face.

"You never did say that to me often enough." She admitted to him. "Do you really love me?"

"Yes. Admired Human all these trines for being with me over other Skeksis. We have many great adventures together." Sil said.

"Yes. I know we had a rocky start though. It's amazing how some opposites can attract." She smiled at him before going into a coughing fit.

The human ended up coughing up blood. Might have been some pneumonia too. There was no right answer without human help and there was none. They could only let nature take its course.

The other Skeksis were aware of her dying too. They would go visit her to say their last goodbyes and how she had grown on them too over the trines. And there was a message sent out to the clans that the human was dying.

That night, the human died in her sleep. Her heart couldn't take anymore. It was a mystery to where her soul went as she was not part of Thra and would not return to Thra like Kinala would. But she would hopefully go to Heaven that she had wanted to all her life.

The next day, it was announced that the human was dead. Her body was to be cremated. At least she had lived a productive life in the land of Thra and made a lasting impact on the lives here. Especially for one Skeksis among the Lords of the Crystal. She also had a lasting legacy with Kinala, but who knew how long it would last with Kinala and Ninjack being from different clans to be together?

The Skeksis would continue their reign as rulers of Thra until their time was up. But they had learned much from the strange creature from another world. But then, so were they in truth.

Kinala and her family would continue to serve them as well. She would continue to see SkekSil as her father. Kinala could still serve as a diplomat and messenger for her lords. She would also use her mother's words and ways in her negotiating too. She was her mother's lasting legacy that did a little something special for the castle beings.

It had been a wild ride for a human from Earth to be transported to Thra so long ago. She had been proud and glad to serve the beings of Thra. She had hoped they would all go on good without her being there with them anymore. She had left imprints on everyone's memories who had met her, Skeksis and Gelfling alike. But life could only go on without her. It had been a good forty trines of her living with them.

The Chamberlain had only been married this one time in his life to a soulmate, and he doubted he would ever find another like her to truly understand him. None of the others truly saw underneath to what he had potential for other than scheming about. But he would continue to do what he could to survive here in this dark castle under the rule of his leader, SkekSo the Emperor. But he still hoped to rule as emperor himself, one day.

The End

It definitely took me a while to come up with some good ideas for this story. I had wanted to write a story where a human came along and influenced the Skeksis in special and different ways. But of course, ideas run out and I was just glad to do this project. It was fun to do. Hope everyone enjoyed it. Thanks for reading. Reviews are greatly appreciated too.
