The Hunnicutt Farm

It was late in the evening, and I was almost finished mowing the large lawn that wasn't for the cows. It was almost 3 o'clock, and the boys were going to be here soon. I gotta wash up.

For a state that mostly deals with the cold and snow, the spring weather feels like summer in the south. I spent a summer there in camp and everyday, it felt like my skin was melting.

THUMP!

I tripped and fall on the grass after hitting something hard on the ground. I was glad that I pushed the mower a few feet away.

Getting up and dusting myself, I looked behind and saw something sticking out of the ground. I tried to lift it out, but I couldn't get a good enough grip. I return from the van with a shovel.

Digging around the object, I finally pull it out. Before I decide to take a closer look, I refill the hole with dirt. Taking it to my car, I place it to the top of my truck and try to wipe the dirt off it.

It seemed like a big rock, but it was light. It looks like a big diamond. What if it was a diamond? It could be worth a lot! I could be rich!

But...it's not mine. It was found here on the Hunnicutt's property. They'll be rich. Well, good for them. They might give me a little for finding it.

I brought the object inside the house, down to the basement on a table filled with tools. I gotta take a shower before the kids get here. They were being dropped off. I gotta figure out what to get for dinner.

Boys love pizza. I would know.

When Dodger runs upstairs, the tools begin to attach to the diamond like a magnet.

--

Lincoln, Clyde, and Liam let out a sigh when they arrived at the farm. The smell of the gooey pepperoni pizza in the trunk was making them hungry.

The vehicle park beside a black car with a brown van behind it. The boys got out along with a blonde lady who looked like a high schooler who was in the driver seat, doing something on her phone. "Alright, boys. Go ahead and grab some boxes."

The trunk opens, and they grab the pizza. The girl opened the door when Liam told her where the extra key was located. They enter the home and place the six boxes of extra large pizza on the table. Clyde put down three bottles of sodas on there.

The blonde girl wore a light blue tank top and brown cargo shorts. She also wore light blue eyeshadow and pretty pearl earrings. "Liam, you got a bathroom?"

"Upstairs, first door on the right. Thanks for the food, Ms. Loud."

Ms. Loud walked up the wooden stairs and got close to the door. She ignored the sound of muffled noise from the other side.

"I've made it this far now

And I'm not burning out

No matter what you say, I'm not afraid"

The door snatched open, getting the girl's attention. A huge scream caught the boy's attention, especially Lincoln.

"Lori!"

The three of them ran upstairs and saw the Blonde and Dodger, who held the door to the bathroom with his left and holding on the only thing that hid his naked body with the right.

"Liam, uh...hi. Hope school was good."

"It was, Mr. Dodger. These are my friends; Lincoln Loud and Clyde McBride. The lady in front of you is Lincoln's sister, Lori."

Dodger's eyes opened wide as he gave everyone a sheepish grin. He turned off the music off his phone. "Oh, sorry. It was nice to meet y'all. I'll see y'all downstairs. Gotta skiddaddle skadoodle some clothes on."

Within a flash, he left the bathroom to the room further down the hall. Lori looked at the room he went in and turned to the boys, mainly Liam. "I thought I was going to be babysitting?"

--

The sun finally set and entered the moon. It wasn't as bright as it could be as huge clouds covered it.

Dodger had dinner with the boys and Lori, who was busy texting on the phone. The boys were enjoying the two movies they picked out.

While that was going on, Dodger was downstairs in the basement, attending to the object he found earlier in the evening.

Since there were two babysitters, I thought it would be best for me to clean up the big diamond I found. Let's just say while I was gone, it was doing some strange things.

The tools that were on the desk were on it. I tried to pull them off, but it was like a tough magnet. After prying them off didn't work, I gave up.

I guess the joke was over as the tools fell off the diamond. I just closed my eyes and breathed in and out.

I brought some brushes ranging from a toothbrush to a big brush. With a cup and a bucket with water, I begin to clean the diamond.

It took an hour as I glanced at my phone. Wiping the sweat off my face, I smiled at my handy work. The diamond was beautiful after getting it clean.

It even has a cool lightning bolt embroidered in the middle.

"Fantastic job if I do say so myself. I wish I could turn coal into diamonds. But this will do."

I poured the dirty water from the cup where the smaller brushes were in to the bucket and brought it upstairs to dump it.

Before going back down, I check on the living room. The boys were bringing their sleeping bags upstairs, except for Liam.

"Hope you had a great time. Goodnight, boys."

"Goodnight, Dodger," they said, waving bye at me. "Sleep tight."

I return to the basement, but stop when the lights start to flicker. There wasn't a sign for a thunderstorm tonight. When I got down there, I started to panic at the scene in front of me.

"Uh...oh. This doesn't normally happen, right?"

--

Lori settled the boys in Liam's room. Lincoln and Clyde rest up in their bags, the latter doing his best to keep his nose from bleeding. "Goodnight, L-Lori."

"Goodnight, Clyde. Goodnight, Liam. Goodnight, Linc." Lori said, walking out of the room and slowly closing the door.

"What a day" Lincoln said, letting out a yawn.

"You can say that again" Clyde agree, releasing yawn of his own.

Liam broke the pattern, yawning before speaking. "We got tomorrow at Dairyland."

"Oh...yeah."

The boys fallen asleep as Lori stands by the door. She walked off, thinking about heading to bed herself. But, she wanted to check on Dodger. She hasn't seen or heard from him since dinner. Just stayed in the basement.

Walking down the stairs, she almost lost her footing as the house started to shake. She ran back upstairs to Liam's Room.

She stops to see the closed door illuminating in a bright white light. "What the?"

"Lori! Dodger!" The scream from her little brother.

Lori charges at the door, but it opens quickly, causing her to stop. The boys ran out of the room. Lincoln hugged his sister's left leg while Clyde and Liam hid behind her.

Before she could question them, a shadow walked in front of the light. Everyone were frightened at the sight, staring at the silhouette in front of them.

"What in the world is that?!" Lincoln asked what was on everyone's mind.

In front of them was an astronaut with a gun in their hands. "Stay still, and you may live a little longer."
