Technically Quirkless: Expanded

Chapter 3

-Izuku-

Grinning, Izuku walked through the halls of UA as a proper student for the first time. Waving to the various upperclassmen and staff he'd met over the years studying here with Nezu, Aizawa, and the other heroes. Putting his phone away, the Big three having spammed it with well wishes, good luck texts, memes, and selfies for his first day, Izuku stopped outside of class 1-A.

Taking a deep breath, he pushed the door open, silently cheering that there were no feral Pomeranian's in his class to deal with. "Dude, it's you!" seeing a redhead he remembered from the Hero practical rush over, Izuku grinned and bumped fists with the guy, seeing a few others from his group in his class too. Kaminari the electrical guy, Ojiro with the tail, and the tall girl with black hair who'd been confused on how one could be 'technically quirkless'.

"Indeed, me it is." He nodded sagely, purposefully butchering the grammar, it was a habit he'd gotten into to annoy a certain blond screaming English teacher. Given her twitching it annoyed the tall girl too.

"So, I'm the last one here?" Izuku looked around at all the filled desks. He'd have been here earlier, but his mom kept wanting just 'one more picture'.

"That's correct Problem Child." The eternally tired voice of Aizawa grumbled out as everyone but Izuku jumped with a startled yelp, the other nineteen members of his class having not noticed the hobo ninja.

"Are you ever going to stop calling me that?" Izuku asked his mentor and favorite pseudo uncle with a pout.

"Are you ever going to stop helping Mic and Midnight when they want to prank me?" the underground pro asked with a raised eyebrow and, after a moment's awkward silence, nodded "That's what I thought. Alright you lot, in your desks are the syllabus and a map. Grab your map and head to the locker rooms and then to field B. You'll find track suits in the lockers with your names on them. We're jumping straight into training."

"But…but what about orientation?" a tall boy with blue hair and a runner's build asked askance, robotically chopping the air as he questioned the decision.

"It's a waste of time, at least for the Hero track." Aizawa scoffed, "Takes away time that you could use to train. That Syllabus has everything you'd learn from orientation and then some anyway." While the blue haired kid sputtered at the 'lack of respect for procedure', Izuku was already heading out the door.

"And where are you going?!" the frazzled blue haired guy turned towards Izuku, "You don't even have a map!"

"I know where to go already." Izuku shrugged, "See you at the locker rooms." He could hear a few people hastily grabbing maps and heading out after him. Getting to the locker rooms, he made straight for the locker with his name on it, the other guys starting to come in when he was partway into changing.

"Holy fuck dude, you're ripped!" a skinny guy with black hair and odd elbows that had to be quirk related gaped as he and the others saw Izuku sans shirt.

"I don't really have a trainable quirk, so I focused on my body." Izuku shrugged, grinning at them as he flexed a bicep. He'd worked hard for these muscles and was damn proud of them.

"Don't have a trainable quirk?" a classmate with the head of a raven asked in confusion.

"Bullshit." Ojiro and Kaminari deadpanned, "His quirk is bullshit."

"You mean manliness." The redhead, Kirishima, corrected.

"I know what I said." Ojiro didn't even bat an eye as the martial artist began changing as well. The others noting that Izuku, who clearly knew their new teacher the best, was changing quickly. Picking up the hint that Aizawa didn't appreciate tardiness, they doubled down on changing as well.

Meeting up with the girls, Izuku and the rest of the guys got lined up at the training field, Aizawa smirking. "Good, none of you are late." The pro nodded "Back during the Hero Practical test battery you all performed the standard fitness tests both with and without quirks. Today, I'll be putting you through various exercises to improve your conditioning while taking each of you aside one at a time to begin going over how to improve your quirk usage. Tokoyami, you're up first. Everyone else, stretch then start running laps!"

-All Might-

"So, you've been teaching this Midoriya boy for years now?" All Might asked Nezu as the two sat in the rat's office, drinking tea.

"Oh yes, most of the staff have taken to him." Nezu nodded pleased, "I've been primarily focusing on his analytical abilities. He's quite gifted in that field, easily at the level to head to I-Island to attend university…well for classes about quirks and quirk analysis at least. He's above average for intelligence in his other fields too but none to the level of his quirk knowledge."

"At the level for I-Island?" All Might's eyes widened. If UA was considered the pinnacle for heroic education, then I-Island was, without a shadow of a doubt, the pinnacle for scientific research and advancement.

"Indeed. If it wasn't your secret then I'd have loved to give him my files on All for One and One for All, see what he makes of them." Nezu laughed happily, the small mammal's eyes wide and manic with the thought of said possibility.

"…I'm starting to worry for this boy's sanity if you were his main mentor all these years." All Might deadpanned as Nezu huffed.

"Rude. At least I didn't traumatize him like Gran Torino did to you." Nezu stuck his nose up in the air as All Might shuddered at the mention of his old home room teacher.

"Regardless, I'm quite excited to get to their first practical Heroics lesson." All Might grinned, eyes twinkling with mischief "Mind if I record it? I doubt many of his class have realized his quirk yet or even fully comprehend what it can do. The reactions are going to be hilarious, and I know David and Mirai will find it hilarious." He might have had a falling out with his second sidekick where they couldn't work together anymore but they were still friends. He'd trusted Mirai with his life and his greatest secret, that wasn't the kind of friend you just left behind. They simply refrained from talking about 'work'.

"Imagine the sports festival." Nezu's grin was just as mischievous as his own, just with significantly more repressed chaos, "That will be the first time most of Class B will have met him and seen his 'not a quirk' in action."

"Boy's going places." All Might chuckled "Now if only I could find a good successor." Midoriya had the heart, the mind, and the muscles but something told him a 'quirk power deletion' ability would be the worst candidate to give One for All to. Just a hunch.

-Izuku-

Stretching, Izuku picked up the syllabus packet that had been left in his desk by Aizawa. Around him he could see most of his class were in much worse shape, many of them having focused more on their quirks than their physical fitness before UA so Aizawa's test battery was grueling. Not to mention the exhaustion from having their quirks pushed to the limit in new ways.

"Yo, Midoriya!" hearing a voice call out from behind, Izuku glanced over his shoulder to see some of the guys waving him over "We're getting a bunch of the class together to go hit up some karaoke, you in?"

"I warn you, my voice is gonna break stone." Izuku shot back with a grin as he packed the papers into his bag, heading over regardless.

"Yeah, but sucking at Karaoke is part of the fun." Kirishima slapped him on the shoulder "Now come on, I wanna see if I can trick, I mean 'convince' Mina to attempt some Norwegian Death Metal." Laughing at the mental image, Izuku joined the large group of class 1A heading off to do Karaoke and bond. Things were looking up, and tomorrow practical hero training was going to finally begin.
