AN: Alright, I know this isn't my usual story area but I got into Yugioh when I was a kid and I still find it entertaining and nostalgic so I have a few story ideas in mind and this is going to be the first one.
AN: This story will have a more intelligent Jayden during duels (and a little bit outside of it) and he'll have more decks than just the hero one.
A true Slifer Red
Chapter 1
-Yugi Motto-
Sighing the King of Games continued walking around the park, wondering when the one he was waiting for was going to show up. While it had been ten years since the Pharaoh had left with the original gods cards and the millennium items he had kept his skill in dueling as well as the ability to see Duel Spirits. He even still had Slifer in his deck as Pegasus had made a new Egyptian god trifecta, giving him Slifer, Kaiba obelisk, and Pegasus kept Ra to study.
Suddenly a voice called out "At your back!" causing him to turn lazily just as a kid with duel colored brown hair ran into him with a sheepish "Sorry." As the kid began picking up his dropped cards and duel disk.
"You're a duelist." He stated more than asked, the duel disk on the ground being a pretty big give away.
"Yep, I'm just going to try out at the academy." The kid said cheerfully making him smile, remembering how exuberant he had been back when he still had the pharaoh in his mind.
"You don't say." He said amused at how the kid hadn't realized who he was yet.
"Yeah," the kid said with a laugh before pausing "hey aren't you…".
When the kid trailed off he smiled and reached into the deck box at his side, pulling out a card and handing it face down over "Why don't you take this," he said with a slight smile "something tells me it belongs with you.".
"Wow, for real?" the kid asked in awe, not having yet seen the card.
"Good luck." He stated with a small smirk as he walked past, only pausing when he heard the kid call out that he would make him proud to which he gave a simple thumbs up. Looking out of the corner of his eye he saw the kid take off running towards the stadium where he knew Kaiba was holding the entrance exams for duel academy.
When the kid was out of sight he smiled and wondered how the kid would use the winged Kuriboh card whose spirit told him to come here today and to give the card to the kid that would show up. Suddenly he heard a small trill and he turned his head slightly to see, to his shock, the spirit of winged Kuriboh. "Winged Kuriboh?" he muttered in confusion "Didn't I give you to…" panicking he yanked out his deck and looked through it and gaped in shock when he saw that instead of giving the kid winged Kuriboh…he had given him Slifer. "Well…this will be interesting." He mused before pulling out his phone to call Kaiba, if this kid had Slifer it would be interesting to see what would happen.
-Jaden Yuki-
He didn't get the chance to see what card the King of Games had given him before he had to run off to the tests, slipping the card into his deck as he ran. Now he was walking into the arena just as a British sounding guy won his entrance duel.
"Wow," he mused with a grin "that last guy really tore it up.".
"Yeah, Bastion Misawa," a little blue haired guy next to him said "they say he got the best written score of all us applicants."
"Wow," he said in slight surprise "I just barely passed."
"Me too," the other kid said glumly "I'm Sirus, nice to meet you. I kind of have an anxiety that acts up whenever anybody watches me duel, I don't know how I won my match.".
"So you're in," he said cheerfully, giving Sirus a slap on the back "I will be too once I win my match.".
"Wait you haven't dueled yet?" Sirus asked in surprise "I thought Bastian was supposed to be the last one.".
As if Sirus' comment had tempted fate a voice called out over the intercom "Will Jaiden Yuki please report to exam field four.".
"Or not." Sirus said with a sweat drop as he grinned and walked down to the rooms below the fields.
As he was raised up into the largest exam field he turned around to see a rather…effeminate man with an intricate duel disk grinning arrogantly "Alright," the man said "test time.".
"You're my opponent?" he asked with a raised eyebrow "Are you sure you aren't a mascot or something?".
"I'm Dr. Vellian Crowler!" the 'mascot' ranted "Department Chair of techniques at Duel Academy!".
"A Department Chair?" he asked with a raised eyebrow "That doesn't sound like the normal entrance test.".
"According to Mr. Kaiba a professional duelist has taken an interest in you for some reason so I was selected to see if you warrant the attention. Along with me being your tester…I'm using my personal deck.".
That one statement started a flurry of whispers among the different students, both those returning and those who are about to start their first year. "Well I hope your ego doesn't get too bruised by me thrashing you." He said with a shrug as he put his deck into his duel disk, activating the auto-shuffle feature before drawing his hand.
As he gazed at his cards he froze in shock at what he saw. In his hand was the card Yugi Motto had given him, Slifer the Sky Dragon. As he took in the rest of his hand he almost missed Crowler starting the duel, "I'll take first move," Crowler said arrogantly before giving a mildly disturbing cackle "I'll start off by setting two face downs…before playing heavy storm!" Crowler called out with a grin.
Everyone in the stands began whispering and snickering at the play until the field darkened and filled with ominous fog which birthed two golden monsters. "Statue of the wicked?" he asked with a raised eyebrow and got a somewhat surprised nod in surprise. Idly he heard that guy who dueled before him, Bastian, explaining what Statue of the wicked did to Sirus while Crowler just gave a grin.
"Well since you knew what my card did I would guess that you also realize they're both about to be sacrificed." Crowler called out as the two creatures roared as they were consumed by fire "And so with my tokens sacrificed I ca now bring out my legendary Ancient Gear Golem!". From the pool of light that signified its summoning the ancient gear golem rose out of the ground, towering over the field in all of its mechanical glory. "I think I've done enough," Crowler said arrogantly "I'll end my turn.".
Growling at the man's attitude he looked at his hand before drawing and calling out "I play pot of greed to draw two more cards!" and gave a wild grin at what he saw. "I'll start out with the spell card Polymerization!" he called out, as the duel arena whipped up a wind around him "And use it to fuse my elemental Heroes Avian, Sparkman, and Bubbleman to form Elemental HERO Tempest!".
At his call the powerful Elemental Hero burst forth onto the field as Crowler gave him a reevaluating look before he shot the teacher a grin "Next I'll play Defusion to separate him back into his original pieces." Which started a round of laughter from the other students watching.
"Now why on earth would you get rid of an admittedly powerful monster that could almost match my own in power?" Crowler asked in confusion making him grin.
"Same reason you destroyed Statue of the Wicked, I needed the sacrifices." He answered making the laughter cease immediately "Now I'll sacrifice Avian, Sparkman, and Bubbleman to summon Slifer the Sky Dragon!". He finished his deceleration with a loud yell as he slammed his new dragon onto the duel disk, the monstrous creature appearing with a roar as silence filled the hall.
Before he could continue he heard an arrogant voice laugh loudly how he was an idiot for summoning the legendary card when he only had one card left in his hand making him give the brat a smirk before continuing "And now I'll play the final card in my hand Card of Sanctity! Causing us to both draw until we have six cards in our hands. While it won't do much for you it will raise Slifer's attack points up to Six thousand. Now Slifer, attack!".
With a roar the Egyptian god launched a blast of power at the mechanical titan causing it to explode while Crowler lost three thousand life points. When the smoke cleared he saw a gaping Crowler looking at the scraps of his mighty mechanical monster before sighing and calling out "I forfeit, there isn't a single card in my deck that can handle that sort of power.".
Nodding he deactivated his duel Disk, giving Slifer's hologram a grin as the dragon faded out of existence. Before he could head back up to the stands he heard a slow clapping and, turning, he saw Yugi Motto and Seto Kaiba before Yugi called out "Come over here Jaden, Seto and I need to speak with you about something."
