Time

Lady could not believe how her life had turned out, not that long ago she had been a perfectly ordinary Wolf Spider. Well, not really, she had always been superior to all other spiders of course but still, time has never mattered to her, as a spider all she needed to go by was her instincts and needs, if she was hungry then it was time to hunt, if there was danger then she needed to move. There had never been a reason for her to know that you could keep track of time but now, here she was sitting in her humans' bedroom, contemplating the passage of time. She would never understand the strangeness of humans, but their way of keeping track of time must be one of the strangest things that they have come up with, in her opinion. Nevertheless, she had learned how they did it, she could now tell the time with the help of clocks and other such strange devices, although that is a fact not known to any of the humans she knows, as it is all too amusing to pretend not to understand things. Now here she was, contemplating life and time in a way she is certain no spider has done before, but then again she had always been superior to all spiders even before she met her human and became a spider that could do things even most humans can't. She has a human that she would do anything to protect, she has a home something that she had never even known was a thing, she can speak to humans which means she can tell them how ridiculous most of their things and actions are, she is faster and stronger than any spider she has ever met. Last but not least, as she has heard humans say many times, she is able to change her size, she can be as big as a human or as small as an ordinary boring spider.

Before she took refuge inside her humans' room, she never could have imagined that her life could get better than it was, she had been strong, fast and an excellent hunter, she had the entire forest to live in. Sure there were dangers, she always had to be cautious about things bigger than her, humans were probably her biggest threat, but she had been as content as she knew how to be, and now she had her human and his entire house to keep her safe should she need it. She had her enclosure to hide away in when she got tired of all of the humans and just wants to be by herself, and she had pizza. There was almost nothing better than pizza in Lady's opinion, she could not understand how she had lived her entire life before Stiles without pizza!

She would never have to worry about anything ever again if she truly didn't want to, but she still enjoyed hunting, it was one of her favorite 'hobbies', as the humans would call it, besides even all of the pizza in the world could not take away the pleasure of a particularly juicy caterpillar or an especially tasty salamander. Hunting was the best part of feeding, to sneak up on the prey, and pounce when they least expect it. With her new ability to grow any size she wanted, she had also had the pleasure of trying out all kinds of new food, mice might taste good but rabbits tasted even better, no matter how her human complained about the resulting mess she left behind. She did try to keep the mess to a minimum, and usually, she fed outside so as to keep any mess outside, but sometimes she just really wanted to feed in peace in her home. No amount of complaints from Stiles could stop her, if he truly wanted her to stop he should do something about it, he certainly has the ability to do so, and as long as he doesn't then she will take that as permission to keep doing it. Not that she needed permission, she is after all a spider, not a pet.

Just as her life had changed beyond recognition, for the better of course, so had her Stiles' life. Lady could see that her human was happier than she had ever seen him be before, she would make sure that she and his human friends would do everything necessary to keep him that way. He had kept his distance from those that had hurt him and caused his unhappiness in the first place and stuck to his friends. Of course, the other humans that she didn't like, kept away from her Stiles most of the time, sometimes they come up to him to say something or other, but they always left again so she let them be. It helped that her human never spoke to them for very long and never alone. The Scott human had disappeared soon after her human had healed him, and she is sure Stiles had told her where he had gone but she couldn't be bothered to remember, that foul human had no meaning to her, especially not now that he could no longer hurt her human.

Time moved, the way that she had learned that it does, and she kept to her humans' side whenever she could, stayed close whenever she couldn't. Before she knew it he was done with his school, graduating she believes it was called, only for him to move away and go to another school. She was with him when he packed the things he wanted with him, and she was with him when he drove away and when he arrived at the new school, which he was going to live in apparently, and she was with him when he packed up and got used to the new place. She got a new enclosure in his new room, and she got to know the human that was going to live in the same room as them, but she didn't speak to him because he is just an ordinary human, and that could end badly for both her and her Stiles, but by the end of the first week she knew all the important things about him. Before she knew it, time had gone by too fast again, and her human was graduating again, and they moved again. However many changes they went through they always had each other, and Stiles always had his look-alike humans and normal humans by his side. He also had his father too of course. Neither she nor Stiles ever saw Scott again, and they rarely saw the other unliked humans either.

As time kept going Lady felt stronger and so did her human, after he had graduated from his second school he started traveling. First, he only traveled within the country, he met with a lot of people both humans and not-humans, and he learned more about the world, and he wrote it down. When he had learned everything he could in his own country he left to learn from other countries, and he wrote it all down, not only the facts about the creatures he met but also the stories they told him. It didn't take her human very long to have enough stories for a whole book, so he took the stories and showed them to all the other humans in the world. By the time she had spent 10 years with her human, he had written several books, she wasn't interested enough to keep count but she was proud of him, and he was well-known where ever they went which meant that so was Lady. By the time 20 years had gone by with her Stiles, he had worked with all kinds of supernatural creatures and hunters alike to make the supernatural world better than ever. Hunters weren't allowed to kill any creature without a real trial with the Supernatural Council which was made up of both supernaturals and hunters and humans, not that that stopped all of the hunters from killing but it went a long way to help supernaturals feel safer and it made them more willing to keep from hurting humans. The years kept moving and she kept to her human side as he grew and learned and worked, she watched him fall in love and have his heart broken, she watched him move around and settle down.

At the end of the day, Lady knew that nothing mattered as long as she and Stiles were together. Before she knew it she had lived several spider lifetimes, but still hadn't even lived a full human lifetime, but she couldn't wait to keep living. 30 years after she met her human, she found herself looking forward to seeing how her and Stiles' life would continue to evolve, but at the same time, she didn't want to ever leave this moment in time as she watches her human laughing and planning with his friends. Both the same friends from before and new friends from his travels and work, and she knew that their life was good, and all she knows about the future is that as long as she gets to be there with her human then everything will be fine, she would make sure of it. Even if she had to bite every human she met.

Time moved fast for Stiles, he graduated high school with his friends, went to college, and even managed to graduate there too after many long nights and at least one or two breakdowns, but he did it. After that he knew that he was done with school, so he took Lady and his most important things and got into his car and started going. He didn't have a destination in mind so he just kept going, where ever they went he met new interesting people most of them were not human but some of them were. He learned things about werewolves he never could have imagined knowing a few years ago, he learned that there were things he never could have imagined to be real. He met everything from humans to vampires, wendigos, witches, warlocks, and fae, he even ran into a unicorn once. He wrote down everything he learned and he even wrote down some of the stories he had been told, everything from local legends to ancient lore from old families, to recent love stories and tragedies told to him by the people he met. The more people he met and the more he learned the more he wanted to learn, but he was starting to run out of money and that is something that you need to live, and sure he could probably use his spark to create money for himself, that felt just a little bit like cheating, so he started to compile all of the stories into a fairytale-like book that he had published. He hoped to just earn enough money to keep traveling for a while longer, but the book turned out to be so popular that he earned more than just a little money from it, so he kept writing stories both real and imagined and inspired by real stories.

He kept traveling and he kept meeting new people and somehow he managed to become famous, mostly through his books, but also from his travels as he met interesting people and it turns out that a lot of celebrities are not humans. Before he knew it, 10 years had gone by and he had several published books that were well-liked and he could almost never go anywhere without being recognized, not that that was necessarily a bad thing but sometimes he just wanted to walk down a street in a beautiful place without being stared at. Then it felt like he blinked and another 10 years had gone by, and he found himself looking back on his life and wondering how it would have been if Scott had never been bitten, or if he had never stopped being friends with Scott and the rest of the pack, or if he had never met Lady, or if he had never gotten his spark. In the end, he realizes that his life couldn't have been better any other way, he had met with a lot of important people human and supernaturals alike, and he had helped to create a system that had reduced unnecessary deaths of supernaturals by hunters. With the help of his new friends, allies, and contacts they managed to create the Supernatural Council, which helped reduce crime from supernatural creatures, and he helped to build a prison so that those that commit crimes could be punished without having to lose their lives. Stiles had used his spark and worked with several other magic users of all kinds to create impenetrable wards around the prison to the point that it was harder to both break into and out of than Azkaban, it was something he often looked back on and couldn't believe had actually happened. Hunters kept hunting of course, but with the Council and several contacts in law enforcement, most of those hunters ended up in some kind of prison, either a normal one or in Stiles' supernatural one.

Life kept happening and Stiles kept moving, he traveled where ever he felt like and he kept writing he also became a well-known name in the supernatural community so he was often called on to help with all kinds of problems, something he got good at doing when he still lived in Beacon Hills. No matter where he went or what he did, he always had Lady with him and he always had his friends. Along the way, he met new friends and even fell in love a couple of times, but his lifestyle and his need to keep moving around made it difficult to be in a committed relationship so he ended up with a broken heart more than once.

After more than two decades of traveling and never staying still for too long, Stiles decided to move back to California permanently, that was where his dad was and even his oldest friends had found their way back there. He found a nice house close to the forest but still close to civilization, in Beacon Hills of course, and took his sparse belongings and his Lady and moved back home. Settling down in an actual house took some time, but it was pretty nice to always know where he was going at the end of the day. He kept writing books, but he felt like he needed something else to do so he took some classes that made him qualified to teach, and then he applied for a job at the Beacon Hills Elementary School as a teacher. He was qualified to teach both History and English, so that is what he did.

He was finally home again, he had a "real" job, he got to write his stories, he got to spend more time with his friends and he finally got to feel like the adult he was, but being home again brought out new but old problems for him. The Hale pack was still around, they were also older and more evolved, and Stiled could honestly say that he didn't know any of them anymore just as they had no real idea of who he was. Stiles, the twins, and even Mandy and Sean met up with the Hale pack several times to work out any potential problems and to just get to know each other again to make sure that they could all live in the same town again. After a year back, Stiles could honestly say that he was really truly happy with his life, he had his dad and his friends, and he had made amends with his old pack so he even had them again, he had a great job and last but not least he had his Lady.

His life changed irrevocably when he found Lady, and he will never regret that he never wants to actually know what would have happened to him without her. He has unimaginable magic powers because of his spark, he could literally accomplish impossible things with just a thought and some belief, even if Lady leaves dead mice and rabbits and on a very memorable occasion a dead moose in his home he wouldn't have it any other way.

Stiles knows that as long as he has his people and his spider then he will be just fine, actually he will be better than fine.
