A New god of Remnant
Chapter 24
-Percy-
"I don't know what I've been told!" Percy sang out a Jodie as he jogged around Beacon, the various students he'd taken to training following and singing behind him.
"I don't know what I've been told!" they sang out tiredly, having already done a few laps around the school.
"Politics are getting old!" he wasn't letting his ever growing frustration with the Council of Vale show. Nope, no sir, not one bit.
"Politics are getting old!"
"Too much drama, not for me!" he grinned to himself as the students sang along, noting Pyrrha was quite happy with the lyrics.
"Too much drama, not for me!"
"I drank too much, now I gotta pee!" Percy grinned, curious if the students would still copy him.
"I drank too much, not I gotta-" they were interrupted by an unamused huff by Glynda who was waiting for them.
"Really Perseus, must you act like Qrow?" the blonde disciplinarian sighed, pinching the bridge of her nose.
"Come on Glynda, it's just some harmless fun." Percy grinned, jogging in place as did the students.
"Perseus, please just refrain from singing songs focused on urination, let alone teaching the students to do so." Glynda sighed.
"Fiiiine." Percy grumbled before he got a wicked grin.
"Birdy, birdy, in the sky!"
"Birdy, birdy, in the sky!"
"Why'd you do that in my eye?"
"Why'd you do that in my eye?"
"It's not pee, it's not spit!"
"It's not pee, it's not spit!"
"Oh my gosh it's birdy sh-"
"Jackson!" Glynda's riding crop cracked against her palm.
"Scatter!" Percy shouted to his students who all bolted in different directions, Glynda unfortunately storming after him in chase.
Still, it felt good to laugh like this.
-Ozpin-
Chuckling as he watched this from the window, Ozpin sipped his coffee, "It's good to see Perseus acting closer to his age at times." He glanced over at Qrow and Ironwood who were more amused at the reactions from Glynda.
"Won't hear me arguing." Qrow shrugged, "I just wish he'd waited a couple days for Jimmy's ice queen to arrive. I'm sure she'd have torn him a new one for those songs."
"You do realize that Winter went through Army training and Bootcamp, right Qrow?" James raised an eyebrow, "I'm positive she knows songs just like that if not worse. Just because she likes to remain dignified in public doesn't mean she's opposed to something as innocent as a simple Jodie."
"But she's always bitchy whenever I'm around." Qrow blinked in confusion as he took a swig from his flask.
"That's because she has standards, and you fail to meet any of them." James smirked at Qrow flipping him off for the remark.
"Girls, girls, you're both pretty." Ozpin shook his head as the two paused and gaped as he smirked behind his mug. Percy was correct, sassing people was fun.
"Regardless." James coughed, hoping to redirect the conversation away from any further mockery "Judging by the lyrics I can assume that the Council are still pushing?"
"Indeed." Ozpin sighed, "And they're starting to harass Percy everywhere they can now. Trying to have his boathouse foreclosed or declared condemned, putting excessive red tape in the way of his attempts to get a license to sell his wine, they're even apparently trying to stimy the attempts of a friend of his from opening an art studio."
"They've been getting big heads for a while now Oz, no real surprise that they think they're untouchable." Qrow scoffed, "Real question is what are we gonna do about it?"
"Perseus has already taken that out of our hands." Ozpin sighed, wondering what exactly Percy had planned.
"Oz…what did he do?" James looked nervous as Ozpin pulled out a file.
"Perseus is suing the Council of Vale for discrimination, abuse of power, and harassment." Ozpin deadpanned as Qrow spat out his drink, "Qrow, if you cannot hold your liquor, please pick a weaker drink. I don't want to have to clean that up later."
"Ozpin, not the time." Qrow coughed, slamming a fist against his chest while James took the notice to read.
"Nobody's sued a council for harassment before." James blinked as he read through the papers, "This is going to make headlines. I assume he has a plan?"
"I'd assume so, but he hasn't shared whatever it is." Ozpin shrugged "My guess is that he doesn't want others to find out what he's doing and try to stop it or for them to pull more red tape out to try and stop his plan and make this mess even more complicated."
"This is gonna be a clusterfuck." Qrow groaned, "Not that they haven't earned it but during Vytal festival? They're going to be desperate and probably try something stupid."
"Oh, undoubtedly." Ozpin shook his head as he finished his coffee, "But for now let's go help Glynda collect young Percy. We do have a meeting with the Belladonna's to get to after all."
"I'm sure Marrow will be relieved for a break." James laughed, "He gets along well with the Belladonnas but isn't sure how to quite handle Kali. She apparently keeps trying to set him up with a 'nice girl from Menagerie'."
"Hah, be hilarious if she was trying to set him up with Sienna Khan." Qrow snickered as James shuddered.
"Please don't jinx me Qrow, I don't want to deal with that political migraine."
-Tyrian-
People always tended to underestimate Tyrian. His devotion to his goddess caused many to view him as mad, as beneath them.
But he wasn't mad, not really. He might not be what the average person would consider 'normal' but he wasn't mad. If he was as unstable as people thought him to be then he'd never be able to understand and follow the commands of his goddess, he might hurt those loyal to her, and he would have died long ago.
No, he was not mad. He just wasn't normal…and liked stabbing things. Really, really, liked stabbing things. Part of him had always wondered if his love of stabbing had come from his semblance, part of his soul, literally allowing him to shut of parts of aura and allow him to stab through it or if his love had always been there, buried deep down, and it took his semblance awakening to understand it.
Regardless, he wasn't mad. And that meant he was able to notice the signs and patterns.
Before, his goddess had always reminded him of the sea. Poised, calm and tranquil when not otherwise thunderous and destructive. He had always assumed that was simply her nature, how his goddess had always been. He had seen her be fair but strict with himself, Watts, and Hazel. She praised success but would not tolerate failure or betrayal.
But with Cinder, he noted she was given more chances than one would have expected, especially with Cinder's attitude.
Then there were Mercury and Emerald. He had seen his goddess take a genuine interest in them. Be compassionate and understanding.
His goddess cared for the young, had a soft spot for children. It wasn't something he had seen from her before, and it made him question what else he did not know about the great goddess.
So, he continued to watch. The longer she spent in Vale, the longer she spent with the budding god Jackson, the 'brighter' his goddess seemed to become. Oh, she was still a powerful and thunderous queen of destruction, of that he had no doubt. She still showed she was not to be crossed whenever that fool Cinder tried to contact them. But now there was more than apathy or fury. He saw joy, he saw excitement, and more.
He recognized the earlier apathy matching listless depression that mortals would feel. His goddess had been hurting and he not only hadn't done anything to help, but he had also not even noticed.
The gratitude he felt to Jackson for helping his goddess was immense, making the budding god of Vale second in his eyes only to the great goddess.
So, when he learned of the Council of Vale trying to control Jackson and targeting his goddess through that? He felt fury, he felt wrath, but most of all, he felt curiosity.
His goddess preferred to deal with those threatening her directly. Would this god be the same? How would Jackson handle those who oppose him?
He'd learned of the upcoming court case and was already preparing a disguise to attend and watch in person. He had to know. He had to learn.
