CHAPTER 6: I CHOOSE TO STAY

Alkor's ziggurat

Sixth floor

Aidan's room

One of the many benefits of having an upgradeable dungeon is that you can modify it in any way you desire, if you have the data capacity to make the changes you want.

And that was the origin of the guild members' rooms. Originally only depots in which one could store their personal equipment, as soon that data capacity was available, they decided to turn them into the rooms they always wanted to have in real life.

A trend that most (if not all) of players with guild bases shared unknowingly. After all, where they could get to enjoy the luxuries they would never have in real life? Or at least a DECENT room?

And his room was no exception. Of course, bigger guilds with bigger dungeons and more data available could have guildmembers rooms which obscene opulence can make this personal room a dusty warehouse in comparison.

But still, his room was quite the luxurious one.

A big, king size bed, a desk which can double as a dining table for six people, a big wardrobe that can store far more stuff than possible, a quite large bookshelf, a big chest abnormally spacious inside, enough free space to walk around and a big bathroom with a big bathtub that can double as a jacuzzi.

The walls have a simple, but well-defined design, and a beautiful chandelier irradiated warm light.

And in a tiny table in the corner there was a coffee machine.

Originally, it was an item with an endless supply of coffee, a drink type item which gave its consumer a small boost of agility and reduces the cooldown of some skills by a small amount.

And now, he was enjoying a cup of the now real very tasty coffee.

He liked his room. Much better than the small shoebox that was his room, with little more than the necessary to live properly.

Having a good income on Earth was something hard to find and even harder to maintain. So saving was important, and very few luxuries could be bought.

However, having a recreational activity like YGGDRASIL was within their margins (and gave them the much-needed escape).

The room, being now real, was far more soothing and relaxing than before. The bed was soft, the furniture was elegant, and the bathroom worked perfectly. He tried flushing the W.C. just for the lulz and it worked!

And the coffee machine, producing endless amount of delicious liquid…

Thinking a lot about how comfy and homely felt his room, he lamented not converted it into a bigger penthouse-style room. With a bigger bathroom, even more stuff. And that do not have to be restricted to his room. They could have created a spa, a large swimming pool, a bar…

"What the hell I am thinking? Have I already made my mind on staying here?"

.

.

.

"…hehehe, I think I did some tim-"

Suddenly, he heard someone knocking the door.

"Soichi, are you there?"

"Come dad"

As his father was entering his room, he mentally prepared. The following conversation would define their future.

Taking a seat, in front of his son, he took a small breath. And began.

"Well, how your room feels?"

"Actually, very comfortable. Everything feels so real. I had to resist the urge to sleep in that super comfortable bed. Not that I am tired in any case, but still, it's tempting."

"Haha, same with mine. The sink in my bathroom has a lot of warm water. And the soap I used to wash my face grew back up, like never was used."

"Really? Looks like we went overboard with the details of the rooms. Coffee?"

"Yes please"

As his son was standing up, he looked at the room. Clearly lively, with a different appeal than his own room. He had enough time to check before his son decided to restart the conversation.

"Coffee!" the younger angel served his father a cup of the delicious beverage. "Anything else, dad? "

"Thanks. And… I'm going to be blunt. I made some test around and… I have a dick."

"Well… congratulations" smirked his son.

"Come on! You know what I am talking about."

"Yes. I did the same test as you, I guess. R-18 regulations are off now isn't? "

"Looks like. I tested that for a bit while and no forced logout." Any lingering doubts about being computer data were gone now.

The young angel tried to erase the unexpected image of his father jerking off, but he theorized that a lot of alcohol would be needed for that.

"Could I get drunk now? As far as I knew, alcohol is a poison in YGGDRASIL. Considering my high poison resistance, will that be possible?"

He realized that he was dodging the important issue there. So, he steeled on.

"Ok, here goes nothing."

"Dad, now… what?"

"…what you mean?"

"I mean, what would we do now?"

"Don't know really how to proceed. You?"

.

.

.

silence

.

.

.

Leoric/Touya decided to break the unnerving silence.

"You mean going back isn't?"

"No. I mean, should we go back? Should we really go back?"

The words of his son were shocking, but a tiny side of him reasoned that his son might really consider staying in this…New World for a lack of better term.

…thinking again, they weren't that shocking.

"No…. I was shocked because he asked the question sooner than I expected."

Still, he had to make the question.

"Do you want to go back?"

He saw how his son pondered a little, and then answered:

"I choose to stay, dad. No, don't give me that look! You knew very well that this was going to be my answer."

The younger player took a deep breath and continued.

"I'm going to make myself clear: I HATE Earth. I hate that trash bin. I hate the society that promotes human domestication above everything else. I hate how the people promote that system. And the most disgusting thing about all of that is that the people that suffer because of the system are the ones that make every effort to perpetuate it. I hate that generosity and faith in people get cruelly punished in the most disproportionate way. I hate that, despite EVERY EFFORT I MADE nothing changes!"

"Look. You know I tried. I tried to help people only to see that my efforts going to waste. I saw how my trust was backstabbed by people who "only wanted help" and then they became what I hated the most. Dad, we were always trying to at least make our working places more humane, but nothing went well".

"If I could have joined the Terran Revolution, then it may have been a chance"

He saw how his son massaged his temples.

"That planet is ruined and nothing can be done. Every attempt to change only leads back to the status quo. Every try to be free is immediately recycled into the same machinery. I don't know exactly when or how it happened, but something happened and everything fused into a self-perpetual system that manages to turn everything into a part of it. Hopes, dreams, everything got reconfigured."

Taking a deep breath, he continued

"It doesn't matter how much one attempts to try, the system is designed to take back everything. There is no where to hide or how to subvert it, all is already designed to return to the source".

A sad, sarcastic smile appeared in his face

"And I am also thinking in the future. Do you think that everything is going to improve eventually? No. Everything is going to collapse by itself. Death rate are increasing, despair too. The productive ability of people is degrading and the planet is getting more and more contaminated. I guess that in 30 years Earth would crumple."

He looked at his now empty cup for a bit

"Feelings aside, dad, we really need to get away from Earth as soon as possible. That planet is already inhabitable, and we need to find a new place to live. Live, not survive."

He looked at his father seriously.

"When I was a child, Earth wasn't as contaminated as before. The air is more toxic than before, food is becoming less nutritious, everything is getting more expensive. Human life expectancy is lowering. And our chances to live are getting worse. This is not an escapism fantasy dad, this is survival. If we don't get out from Earth now and cut ourselves from there, we are not going to make it."

Pragmatic, cold, logical thinking. His father couldn't deny that.

Then he looked at his father again, more serious than before.

"I'm going to be cruel, dad, but honestly, you have no future there. You now very well what happens when someone reaches 60 years old. You only have 3 years more. Do you really want to return there?"

Leoric/Touya glared at his son, but it's didn't took long to ease his face. He was right, regardless of the bluntness of his commentary. A world where respect of the human being was a commodity available for the elite rich was no place for an old cog like him. He was going to be replaced eventually, his capabilities and experience being insignificant.

Guessing where his son was going, it was easy to predict his next question.

"And finally, do we really have any powerful attachment that prevents us from staying here?"

Yep. Correctly predicted.

If he was being honest to himself, his attachment to Earth weren't strong. In his old age (actually in his late fifties), he had very few friends remaining, most of them good friends actually, but not really close to anyone. Most of his close friends were either dead by disease or simply succumbed to the cruelty of the perpetual moving machinery that Earth had become.

In fact, the only really powerful attachment to Earth was his son, who was here in this…New World.

After all, in a world full of cogs, he was an old one, but an extremely effective and reliable one (not that it really matters anyway).

And regarding the material stuff… well, money and some stuff, but nothing else really.

"Looks like my son has made his decision. Honestly, I shouldn't be surprised. It was crystal clear how much he hates Earth."

While he didn't hate Earth and earthlings like his son, he couldn't help but be completely disappointed with the society. It's like his son said: everything ultimately returned to refill the same machinery.

He knew that it was difficult to change, but seeing how rampant was conformism and people talked too much, but only make a token effort in order to have a little more of money and comfort destroyed any expectations he had of the future.

Earthlings have simply accepted the fact that what was going on Earth was okay, so no really big deal if something good or bad happened. And for him, it was also clear that Earth was going to die by it's own weight in less than a century.

And like his son said, this is not an escapism fantasy, but looking for a new home, a new place to live. And if he was going to become an immortal angel, he could live and enjoy the new life now.

"If I'm going to have a second, better chance of living, this world is a nice change. And my son will be here."

"So, dad. I'm staying"

He didn't took time to reply

"Well, if there is nothing more to say, I'm staying here too."

"Good"

"Having said that, if there appears a way to go to Earth, what would we do?"

"I'll not only deny the chance, but actively destroy it, be it portal, gate, telepad or whatever!"

He couldn't believe that level of aggressiveness regarding any chance of connecting Earth with this new world.

"Lies, you expected that. But experiencing it is something new."

Perhaps…

"Dad, not only I don't want to see that planet anymore, but I don't want anyone else to arrive here via a gate."

"Ok, I think that you are being too harsh here."

"Dad, no." He almost blurted 'they don't deserve this world', but he stopped himself in time.

""…Ok, what was that?! Have I gotten a holier than thou mentality?!"

He shook his head. No, that thought must have been because he fell in love with this world and outright hates Earth. And any possible threat of losing his second life chance may have something to do.

"As I was saying, I don't want any earthling to come here. What do you think that will happen? They will try to invade, harvest and outright destroy it. Do you really think that I'm going to let them do that to the place I want to call home from now on?!"

His father was now genuinely dumbstruck by the sudden hostility of the words. While he knew that the young angel had no love or hope for their…hehe…old world…, seeing that level of aggressiveness was scary.

'Why that much anger?' he could only wonder. Supposedly angels were more balanced in their emotions in general. That doesn't mean that they are emotionless. Although lore says that angelic wrath is something fearsome to behold.

"Maybe this hatred is something from the core of his very being. Well, I have been very aware of how disappointed is he regarding humanity, so I shouldn't be really surprised. Still…"

"Soichi, listen. I can't say that there is still hope on Earth. Maybe there it is but saying that as an absolute will be being highly hypocritical coming from be. I am also disappointed with Earth actually. However, how about not being completely closed to the opportunity? You have to admit that a few of them would have tried to do something to change, but weren't given a chance. What if they have one now?"

He saw how his son took a deep breath and softened his face.

"Don't expect me to change the way I think about Earth…"

"I know that"

"…but, at least I won't immediately destroy any connection to Earth ok?"

"…so it's a maybe?"

"Sort of"

Both angels looked at each other

"So, in short, we stay?"

"Yes, we stay."

"And if the chance to reconnect with Earth comes…"

"I won't go, but at least I will consider not taking it down."

"Nice"

.

.

.

They spent a little time in silence, enjoying the cups of coffee that the magical coffee maker produced in an unlimited amount.

"And why this world is better than Earth?" the elder angel broke the silence.

"At least it's not polluted at all."

"But why do you think that we can live peacefully here?"

"…That's true. However, there is a chance that we can. After all, there is no city near and we have plenty of space to move around so far"

"Yes. Freedom to do whatever we want for now. But how long would it last? We have been already spotted, and they know about us now. Could we stay free to do whatever we want? For how long?"

"Something else now: how strong are we? We say that we can do whatever we want, but would they be a powerful threat outside? I mean, we are level 100, but in YGGDRASIL there were a lot of dangers that could destroy a maxed out player".

The younger angel suddenly opened his eyes wide.

"Shit! There could be another player or group of players here too! We should try to contact them."

"Or an admin"

"Yes, a shitty dev too!"

"But GM doesn't work. We tried. Message's range is not unlimited, and only private chat works."

"And who knows that if the player is hostile."

"Hostile?! Son, this is not a game! Why a fellow player can be hostile?!

"Well… This situation is an excellent material for a shitty Isekai novel. Combine this and an immature; over-imaginative manchild with superiority-inferiority complex and a very dangerous being will arise".

That was not only a scary scenario, but, considering how shitty, immutable was Earth, a very real possibility.

"The last thing we need now is a stock light novel hero. A swollen head plus self-righteous mentality is an excellent recipe for disaster."

With time both players got annoyed of the light novel protagonist trope. Everything went right for them and they were always overpowered. Because of that, novels that deconstructed (and maybe reconstructed) that trope were better for them.

Having a "vanilla" light novel protagonist mentality was doomed to fail everywhere because the world, any world, wasn't that simple.

However, that wasn't the only problem.

They have become aware already that their avatars were affecting them. In their case, become more balanced emotionally and capable of taking more emotional load than before. At least that was what they knew for now.

"Most of the players were human or humanoid. But what about the ones who weren't? The beast demihuman ones, will succumb to their predator instincts? And what about the vampire players? The demon ones?"

Suddenly, everything became dangerous. If what this scenario implied became true, then a very undesirable, potentially fatal resolution could happen.

And all of it depended on who was transported here too. A normal, mostly human guild would be relatively easy to deal with, but any other guild?

What if one of the top ten guild comes and gets a severe case of swollen head?

What if those self-righteous pricks of Seraphim appear?

What if those immature imbeciles of the flying fairy tale castle arrive?

…what if Ainz Ooal Gown appears?

YGGDRASIL was a game, but here, in a real world, they can be really what they want to be… and truly become their avatars…

"Dad, it's very hopeful that humans aren't the only species in this world. Leave a race with no competition and they can destroy an entire planet".

"Ok, got it. But please don't expect the worst of humanity at every moment. You always told me that some people really deserved second chances."

"Ok dad."

It was worrisome how low his opinion was on humanity as a whole. The immutability of Earth had a very big influence on his way of thinking, and nobody could really blame him for that.

He cared for the people as individuals, but again…Earth…

"Hopefully, your opinion may change a little with time. I know you, you are my son after all."

It was amusing how they processed everything. What was most amusing was that the discussion went very well. Both angels were surprised by how smooth their conversation went. The younger player thought that they were going to have a nasty discussion, but it wasn't difficult to convince his father to stay there.

"Look like I only needed to tip a little the balance."

"So…what now?" The younger angel broke the silence this time.

"Well, all the NPC that we saw till now are loyal to and consider us royalty… somehow. So, we should act as such."

"Ok got it, but…we need something to do isn't?"

"First of all, Soichi, we need to know this new world. So it's important for us to gather a lot of information quickly and efficiently. The sooner, the better. We have already been detected after all."

"Basically, we are going to make us a place on this world, gathering info our first action."

"Yes. However, our decisions must be known. And since we are some sort of aristocrats now, we should announce our intentions in a formal way. So, let's talk to the council."

"The council?" The younger angel was puzzled.

"Yes. Don't remember?"

Throne Room

In the throne room a very alien and futuristic looking throne was occupied by a very regal and majestic angel. A younger, shorter, but no less regal angel was on his right side. And both of them were looking at their knelling gathered NPC.

Closer to them where Rodoph and Kurenai, she with her helmet and mask on.

Farther there were thirteen beings, which collectively were affectionately called The Council by the guildmembers.

To their left, a group of four demons, three males and one female. To their right, a group of four angels, two males and two females. And between them there were five humans, blessed with immortality. Three males and two females.

Originally they were NPCs with lesser dungeon functions and mostly token activities programmed into their backstory. But that doesn't mean that they were mere flavor NPC. Being level 90+ NPCs and programmed to have teamwork tactics meant that they were a serious defensive line before reaching the throne room doors, which were usually guarded by Rodoph and Kurenai

But will they be the same now? After all, the surveillance room wasn't a real surveillance room. Just a failed attempt to have an enhanced mirror of remote viewing and some flavor text that painted that as the security station of the ziggurat.

Until now.

Had the council became a real council now?

Should they be treated now as what they wrote them off to be?

.

.

.

.

.

.

"Here it goes, anyway"

"Rise" The regal voice of the guildmaster filled the Throne Room.

The NPCs followed his orders, eager to see and hear their beloved remaining lords.

A little perturbed by the fanaticism that their eyes showed, he started.

"You may have been already aware of this, but there has been a fundamental change regarding YGGDRASIL and the ziggurat."

He made a small pause before continuing.

"Against all logic and without any possible explanation, I have to say that the entire ziggurat have been transported to somewhere else."

To his surprise, the demon and human components of the council were confused by what he had just said.

"I was pretty sure that all of them were aware of our situation."

"Yes, the ziggurat is no longer in Jotunheim. And it is possible that we are not in YGGDRASIL either."

The ones that knew nodded in acceptance. The ones that didn't showed faces of shock and genuine disbelief.

"My Lord…how?" The biggest of the demons asked.

"It's possible that this is a result of the end of the world. By some inexplicable event, instead of witnessing the death of YGGDRASIL as it was supposed to be, we ended in this… New World, for a lack of a better term."

"The end of the world?" Polaris understood that concept in an academic way. However, its real meaning was beyond her.

"Yes"

And now he had to explain it. Sort of.

"I guess that all of you knew that YGGDRASIL was dying. Finally the last leaves of the tree were withering. And the world was doomed to disappear."

He took another pause, and then rose from the throne.

That little theatrical move was effective: a big expectation rose between the NPCs.

"But then, this happened! We are here! Seemingly the end of the world threw us to the voids between worlds and we landed here!"

'Oh's and 'Ah's were heard around, this time from everyone except his son (who was trying hard to not make a smug smile)

"A New World has appeared before us. What possibilities lie there are still unknown, but this is an event that we must not take lightly."

All the NPCs gathered there nodded in affirmation, expecting instructions and a mission to do.

"I know. This is confusing. And you might have a lot of questions to ask. You can do that if you decide, and we may answer them in the best way possible."

The NPCs looked at each other, both eager to capitalize on the opportunity to learn more about their current situation. And maybe… learn more about their lords.

"My lord, you knew what happened immediately, isn't? Because as soon as midnight struck, you started in your attempts to decipher what was going on. Even you tried to summon your powers from beyond the void".

Everyone became wide-eyed at Rodoph question, save for Kurenai, who had a small shiver through her spine.

"Yes and no. While we didn't knew what happened, we knew that SOMETHING happened, and because of that we started to analyze if everything was in order. Our suspicions were confirmed once we explored outside the ziggurat. And indeed, a New World was there before our eyes."

The NPCs got wide eyed at the words of their lord. And they became very wanting to ask more questions.

"How is this New World, my lord?" Asked one of the human NPCs.

"As far as we know, it resembles Midgard. Fair vegetation, hills, terrain. A beach not too far away. Fair climate too."

The human and demon NPCs looked at each other, surprised about how things were getting developed until now.

"Is there someone else outside, my lord?" The shortest of the human NPCs asked "Are we isolated from everyone else? Are there… enemies out there that could pose a danger to you, my lords?"

"So they are worried about us. Well, that's not absolute loyalty per se, but caring about our well-being is a very good sign still".

"For now, we are mostly isolated from any city, complex or any site of civilization, being only surrounded with grassy hills and patches of woods. However, we have been spotted, and someone now is aware of our existence".

"Then let us make your existence known to them!"

Everyone got the attention of the most physically imposing demon of the group.

"Yes, supreme leader. YGGDRASIL was full of enemies, your enemies, great lord. Some of them mighty, some of them weak. But there was constant fighting. The great lords' lament was that the dominance of the few strong never lasted, and the rivals too numerous, too active, too unruly.

But no more, great lord! If there is someone outside there, maybe has not manifested yet. Or is too weak for us to acknowledge. For the time has came, supreme leader, to mark your place in this world."

Everyone nodded with the words of the belligerent demon, and the fanatical awe in their eyes returned.

"Wow… this is… a little scary actually. I knew that he was the most aggressive of the four, but…

.

.

.

And what the hell he meant by 'the great lords lament?'"

The Guildmaster nooded to the demon, signaling him to continue.

"Let us guide your loyal warriors, supreme leader. The great guild of Arkandia has risen in might and this world must know it! Our soldiers can give you everything you ask! Just give us the order…"

He rose…

"And this lands can be yours."

The NPCs looked at each others, pondering the proposal and trying to discerns what their collegues were thinking.

.

.

.

Except Polaris

.

.

.

"Nice speech, Melk-Chiorus. As soon as you see a chance to wreck everything in the name of the Great Lords, you decide to become the great marshall and lead the banners of Arkandia"

She frowned

"Did you forgot that YGGDRASIL was filled with so many dangers that the Great Lords had to develop many strategies in order to conquer the most dangerous trials, mazes and labyrinths? Including what became our bevoled ziggurat? Only wise, cautious and calculating being like the great lords could have created all of this and making it last all those eras. And now you want to endanger all of that with a reckless crusade?! Are you sure that you won't put our lords in peril ?!"

Annoyed, the large demon glared at the insolent angel, pointing his brutal greatsword at her.

"AND WHAT EXACTLY ARE YOU PROPOSING?!"

He opened his demonic wings, looking far more intimidating than before, which prompted Polaris to do the same.

"Are you suggesting that we must look and not act while we can?! Bah! As expected of you. Looking in a safe place through the mirror and do nothing. Juuuuust look and let ANY chances to go away!"

"I prefer to look first and act later in order to prevent a RECKLESS IDIOT TO JEOPARDIZE EVERYTHING!" Polaris's voice was surprisingly powerful, and filled al the Throne Room

"AT LEAST I'M NOT HIDING IN MY LITTLE ROOM, TOO INSECURE TO DO ANYTHING!"

"WATCH YOUR MOUTH, MELK! AND FOR ONCE THINK BEFORE YOU ACT!"

"AND THINKING TOO MUCH WHAT WILL GRANT US?! NOTHING, YOU LITTLE…

.

.

Both players were surprised, scared and… disgusted? They knew that there were to going to be disagreements, considering the specifics of their creation process. But to see that it would reach these levels…

[CHAT]

"Is this because they are angels and demons?"

"This could be just their typical behaviors that reached their logical conclusion."

"But that belligerence… it has to come from somewhere."

"Were they programmed to hate each other?"

"There must be specifics in the coding maybe."

"Hey look, now this has become angels vs demons. 4 vs 4, who will win?"

"Interesting pattern. Will all NPCs show unexpected conductual quirks too?"

"Regardless, this is scary. And is getting annoying too."

"Let's stop these before-

[CHAT OFF]

"SIIILLEEEEEEEENCEEE!"

Kurenai voice boomed across the room. In her anger she unconsciously used the [Howl] skill, which made her shout very powerful.

And it had the desired effect: the throne room became quiet.

"IS THIS YOUR BEHAVIOUR IN FRONT THE GREAT LORDS?!"

The angelic and demonic NPCs looked ashamed. They were created to be close retainers to their lords, and instead of doing their jobs, all what they did was ineffectual and completely fruitless bickering between themselves.

"My only concern is the well being of the great lords" the huge demon started. "As one of my creators said, only reacting won't take us far. If we don't act now, nothing will we get-"

"Acting as a fool is not the way, Melk"

"Oh Polaris, still adamant in playing safe? Your angelic cowardice-"

.

.

.

.

.

Everyone in the room gasped and their eyes got wide. Especially the big demon.

In his intent to denigrate his nemesis he insulted the nature of the remaining leader of the ziggurat. An unforgivable sin for mere servants like them, even if it was unintentional.

Melk-Chorus genuflected immediately, trying to show himself small and insignificant. He failed in the small part, considering his huge body.

"…I have no excuse of my behavior. My abominable transgression must be punished with death." He immediately put his brutal weapon into his neck.

"Easy, Melk-Chorus. And stand back, my son" Angrily ordered the elder angel.

Soichirou/Aidan realized that he was in an aggressive stance, releasing a potent battle aura, and calmed himself.

"Lower your blade. And rise your head".

The demon fearfully obeyed, his fear only increased when seeing both lord's faces.

"He is shaking in fear. Looks like he respects our authority, even as we are the races that supposedly are his natural enemies. Maybe the fact that we are players overrides the racial impulse? Interesting…"

"Still, I have to be pragmatic. Too soon to think in punishments, but there is a need to assert… well, dominance."

He began:

"I know very well that you will never dare to insult us." The player's voice inspired the highest amount of respect from the NPCs. "But you should know that sometimes is better to keep your thoughts for yourself. Look into the mess you got yourself into!"

The big demon accepted quietly.

"Both of you! If your antagonism is going to produce anything productive for us, then keep it out of here!"

Both NPCs nodded their heads in affirmation

"I will let it pass this misdemeanor. No second chances. My son won't raise his hand against you either." He glances at his son, who by now, has completely relaxed.

"I will work hard to erase my sin and be worthy of my station" The grateful demon stopped shaking.

"However, you will have to think before you react, just like Polaris said."

The demon could feel how the bile crawled through his throat. Having to adhere to that angel's advice was unbearable but a punishment that he deserved.

"The lords can be terrifying when angered". Melk-Chorus made a note to NEVER make an abominable mistake again.

On the other side, Polaris was trying her hardest to keep an stoic face. But inside she was having a big party. Piñatas and maracas included.

"Aside from his idiotic behavior…" The young player glared at the demon, who shuddered "…there is merit in his proposal. In a world unknown, it's important to act quickly and set a foothold. Waiting would only force us to go with the flow, something unacceptable unless we want to become pawns. We don't have the luxury of time to wait and explore. They already know that we are here. So, we will make our moves, now".

Polaris would have loved to scry the world a bit more before risking the lords interacting with anything that was outside, but the young lord Aidan spoke very solid truths.

However, her previous joy deflated. Not because they decided to take a gamble and explore the world (after all, the lords can do whatever they want). It was because that meathead proposal was approved.

And a glance to her side showed the brute grinning heavily. "I won in the end" was carved in that disturbing smile.

"Is this acceptable, father?" Soichiro/Aidan, spoke to his father.

"I see no problems. It was the only logical course of action."

The big demon was having trouble suppressing his laughter, and the angel was trying very hard to not unleash a battle aura.

"Then, this is what we would do" The young angel cleared his throat "Since we are taking active roles regarding this, I will need the best of your capabilities at every moment needed. The following days might be difficult; a lot of work must be done. But it's crucial that these tasks are done if we want to set a strong hold in this New World upon us!"

"YES!" Every NPC present answered immediately.

"Infernal seats!" The demons place their right fist into their chest "Secure a perimeter around the ziggurat. Defensive structure must be built, but nothing more complex than a stockade and watchtowers. An extensive array of traps must be placed too, nothing higher than 4th tier. You are allowed to build subterranean structures if you consider appropriate."

"YES YOUNG LORD!" the demons answered

"Angiris seats" The angels saluted, exactly in the same way "We need a more aggressive information gathering of our surrounding area. Use the scrying devices at your disposal at the highest capabilities and send agents outside to explore and collect any kind of information regarding this lands, no matters how insignificant it might be."

"YES YOUNG LORD!" the angels answered

"Midland seats" The humans saluted "Coordinate with the Infernal seats what structures with the built inside the perimeter and with the Angiris seats how the data gathering will be done. Everything must be not only low resource cost, but also cost-efficient."

"YES YOUNG LORD!"

The angel looked at his father.

"I see no problems. It may proceed."

Having gotten approval from his father, he faced the NPCs again.

"Rodoph, Kurenai, stay. We need to coordinate the management of the ziggurat considering our new situation. The rest may leave. You already have your directives."

The council members saluted once more and then took their leave.

Rodoph and Kurenai got closer to their lords, ready to receive their orders.

"We don't know if the ziggurat can be working the same way as before the transportation, considering that we don't even know if it's possible to gather resources to fuel it." Began the guildleader. "So, reduce the expenses to the minimum possible. Everything must be done with renewable, low-cost resources if possible, keeping proper cost-efficiency and required efficiency for any task."

Both NPCs nooded, starting to figure possible actions to take.

"And we should be ready for the actions that will take any neighboring nations." Continued the younger player "I highly doubt that they will send a military expedition to deal with us, so a messenger is expected. We must plan a response. Something simple"

Rodoph raised his hand. He was prompted to speaks his mind.

"We can send an envoy to meet a possible messenger. This will be a chance to show a small portion of our might and gauge their strength…"

Coastal Waters.

Not far from the gravel beach between the Kombine and the League

A ship was faring in the middle of the night. The assignment: watch and report anything in the League.

What they didn't understand is why they had to go so far. It's not like the League had something to do there.

And that plague stricken island was isolated long time ago. No longer received charity because they lacked the resources to do so. It was a side effect of their efforts actually.

The sentry was waiting for sunrise. When everyone wakes up, he will go to sleep.

He was looking very bored, using a long-distance vision enhancement in the shape of a hawk mask.

And he saw rocks. Dirt. Patches of forest. The gravel beach. A triangular big rock.

A triangular big rock?

He checked again, this time maximizing the zoom.

…Something was there…

Trivia:

While the biggest of the reasons of why Mel-Chiorus fearful reaction was the disrespect of his lords, a secondary one was that Aidan was the worst counter that he could face ever. No one expected that his creation process resulted in being extremely vulnerable to the young angel's abilities, job classes and power. And of course, there was the small difference in levels that meant a lot in YGGDRASIL.
