~Time skip with Jade~
As Jade approached the Greens' house she realized an owl that resembled the one Lucius had given her was approaching her with a letter attached to its foot. As the owl landed on her shoulder it gave her the letter and flew away a second later.
"Dear Jade,
I'm sorry for what I said. I know it was stupid, but please forgive me. I would have said this in person, but you left before I could.
Also since I know you're planning to see those muggle 'parents' of yours to see why they forgot you. I talked to my father, and he says if something happens there and you don't want to spend all of Christmas with them, you're free to spend it with us if you want. Of course, I hope for the best. However, I prepare for everything... you know that.
P.S.
Snape told me you are a pureblood, congrats!
Your friend,
Draco Malfoy"
Jade smiled as she put the letter in her pocket.
'Well at least someone cares enough to write to me.' She smiled.
She glanced at the house. As her smile faded she sighed heavily.
"Might as well get this over with." She said to herself as she took hesitant steps towards the house and knocked on the door with a shaking hand.
About five seconds later Mrs. Green opened the door with a smile but once she realized who was at the door her smile fell into a frown and she glared at Jade.
"What are you doing here?" She asked bitterly which hurt Jade more than her letters getting ignored.
"Who is it, dear?" asked Mr. Green as he approached the door and peered out.
"The child has come back from that school." He then looked at her with surprise and sadness written on his face.
"I came back to find out why the two people I've always loved like they were my real parents had suddenly forgotten about me as soon as I'd left?" Jade said, her voice was full of anger and sadness but this time she made a silent promise to herself not to cry or physically show she felt anything in front of them.
They promised to stay in contact and keep her in their lives. But her efforts were in vain. She felt betrayed and abandoned, and she didn't understand why they did this to her.
"Why would we forget a girl we raised when she left?" Mrs. Green asked in a mocking tone. "Well that's simple really... you're not normal and I will not be associated with you since you chose them over who you've been raised with." She said as she stormed back into the house.
Mrs. Green's husband shook his head and sighed. He knew this day would come eventually. He had hoped his wife would be able to accept their daughter's decision, but that didn't seem to be the case. Mr. Green shut the door behind him as he motioned for Jade to follow him.
"Look I didn't want to ignore you or your letters, okay? She just freaked out over you making her mouth disappear and a weird-looking man came to our house telling her if we contacted you, you could curse us to a horrible death." He explained.
Jade's eyes widened in surprise. "I wouldn't..."
"I know you wouldn't do such a thing, but she doesn't think... she just panics. Look I love you Jade even if you're not my child I will always love you as such, but she's my wife and I have to protect her from anything that could harm her... even herself." He mumbled that last part as he placed a gentle hand on her shoulder.
Jade nodded, understanding her father's view. She smiled and hugged him tightly, thankful for all the love and care he'd shown her until now.
"I understand... Do you mind if I stay long enough to write a letter and get a reply?" She asked.
He nodded and she followed him into the house. She sat at the kitchen table and wrote a reply to Draco's letter.
"Dear Draco,
I have already forgiven you... I guess I just needed space and time for myself and I apologize for lashing out at you. You and Daphne are my closest friends and thanks to the troll months ago, I don't know where I'd be without you. Thank you for being my first Hogwarts friends!
Also, I'd like to take you up on your offer to spend Christmas with your family... However, I don't know where to meet you or where you live... so please reply.
P.S.
When did Snape tell you? I think I should turn him into a toad for that. 😂
Your friend,
Jade Green."
She then rolled up the letter and attached it to Lucius's owl who immediately flew out the window seemingly happy to deliver something.
"So... you've made friends?" Mr. Green asked, acting like he hadn't read everything she'd written to Draco.
"Eavesdrop much?" Jade asked with a raised brow.
"Sorry couldn't help it." He apologized.
"It's okay... yeah I did. They're good people... well mostly anyway." She chuckled.
Mr. Green smiled and nodded. He could tell that Jade was happy to have made new friends. He was happy for her and knew it was the start of her adventure.
"So what happened with the... uh, the troll was it?" She explained how she ended up in the girl's bathroom comforting Hermione when the troll came in.
"Okay, okay so the troll followed you?" He asked confused.
"Eh, not exactly... the troll was wandering the hallway when it must've heard Hermione's sobs," she told him thoughtfully.
She was still unaware Harry and Ron had locked the troll in the bathroom that day. Mr. Green then asked why the girl was crying and she told him until a knock was heard at the door. Mrs. Green answered the door for the second time that day.
"You're the man that told Jade she had magic. What are you doing here?" She asked with a dirty look on her face.
Jade had had enough of her and waved her hand at her quickly and said: "Wingardium Leviosa."
As soon as she had, Mrs. Green floated in the air. However, after she was in the air, Jade quickly moved her hand toward a wall and Mrs. Green flew in the same direction. Jade then said the words for the sticking charm and Mrs. Green's body stuck to the wall.
"What the hell are you doing, Jade? Put me down!" Yelled Mrs. Green, while Mr. Green tried not to laugh.
"No. I will not. You taught me to not be rude to people, no matter who they are or what they've done. That was what you told me when I was a small child and you opened the door and gave him a dirty look? Why? Cause he can do magic?" Jade yelled at her at the end. "I'm so glad I've got somewhere else to go, 'cause I'd probably find a way to hurt you if it wasn't for the fact that I still care about Mr. Green as my father, but you. At this point, you are a coward and nothing more." Jade said as she turned towards the door. "If you decide you want your wife off that wall smack her in the face and she'll be free."
She then saw who it was exactly at the door. She wasn't surprised to see Lucius, because of what Mrs. Green said when she answered. But she was surprised to see Draco.
"Draco, why didn't you send me an owl to meet you somewhere?" she asked.
"Because I personally wanted to find out why you didn't intend to spend the holidays at home," Lucius answered for him.
"Oh." She smiled.
Once she had gathered her belongings from Hogwarts, she walked to the apperation point with them.
"Draco, is he your uncle or something?"
Draco and Lucius laughed. "No. He's my father." He told her laughing in between words.
"Wait? Really?" Jade said looking from Draco to Lucius and back to Draco repeatedly.
"Yes, my dear. He is my son." Lucius said as he pulled both his son and Jade close enough to apparate without them getting hurt in the process.
They disappeared with a loud crack and were gone. When they arrived at their destination, Jade realized she was standing in front of Malfoy Manor. She looked up in awe and couldn't believe how huge their home was. Jade looked at her surroundings as she realized she'd been apparated. She was immediately struck by the manor, which resembled a castle built for royalty in the thirteenth century. There were six-foot hedges leading from the gates to the manor entrance. They were too tall for her to see anything past them. However, if what she could see of the place was anything to rely on, it probably resembled what she'd expect in a fairy tale castle. Draco and Lucius noticed her admiration for their home. They both smiled proudly while escorting her into the large marble doors at the entrance.
'They're such peacocks.' She giggled at herself.
However, once inside her jaw dropped at how much more beautiful and expensive it looked. Draco and Lucius beamed at her reaction and exchanged satisfied looks. They enjoyed seeing the awe on her face as she enjoyed the grandeur of their family home. Diamond chandeliers lit up each room as they entered the dining room.
"I'm sure you're hungry, so please take a seat," Lucius said to both his son and Jade, who he could tell hadn't eaten since leaving school.
The table he'd pointed at was large dark oak wood with snakes carved into its legs. It could easily seat fifty or more people but today there were only three seats. Lucius sat at the head of the table and Draco sat to his left, leaving her to sit on his right. Moments later silver plates decorated the table like at Hogwarts. There were all sorts of dishes prepared to honor the upcoming holiday. Ham With Brown Sugar Glaze, Roast Beef, Roasted Red Potatoes, Bûche de Noël, Sugar Cookies, Roasted Vegetables, Cinnamon Rolls, Stuffed Pork Loin, and Eggnog. Those items were all brought out by the house elves. The elves put a bit of everything on their plates. However, when she tried to refuse the eggnog because she didn't like the taste of it the elf dropped the glass and began to punish itself. Upon realizing it was doing this Jade got out of her seat and kneeled down in front of it.
"Oh, please don't hurt yourself," she said, gently holding his hands.
"But Dobby has-"
"You've done nothing Dobby, Miss Green just said she didn't want the eggnog," Lucius replied as he waved his wand to make the broken glass disappear.
Jade comforted Dobby, letting him know it was alright until he stopped. Lucius then patted Dobby on the head and told him to rest. Dobby nodded before scurrying away.
"Other than break my glass." He muttered after Dobby left.
'That was odd. I've never been that kind to an elf before... especially not Dobby.' He thought as he watched Jade and Draco eat. 'I wonder why...'
Draco smirked. He knew exactly what his father was thinking. This happened to anyone who was around Jade for too long. It was the reason she befriended all the Slytherins and earned their protection relatively easily. He'd even argue that even if she wasn't a Slytherin she'd probably still have their protection because of how much she stands up for them regardless of whether they're in the wrong. Everyone respected her and followed her lead, even if they were unsure of her decisions, they trusted her and followed her anyway. It was almost like she had some sort of power over them. Lucius was the first to leave the dinner table but told Draco to show her to the guest room before he left. As she finished eating she yawned feeling slightly sleepy.
"Let me escort you to your room?" Draco asked offering her his arm.
She smiled and nodded. He led her up the stairs and past several doors before stopping in a room with a double-door entry.
"This will be your room while you're here." He told her before leaving.
At this point, she couldn't care less about what it looked like. All she cared about was getting to sleep so when she found the king-sized bed she just fell into it and immediately fell asleep.
~~~with Draco~~~
As he turned the corner towards his father's study, he saw a house-elf leaving it.
"Is my father in his study?" Draco asked the elf with a blank look on his face. "Yes Master Draco." the elf said before disappearing.
He saw his father facing the fireplace with a glass of fire whiskey in his left hand.
"I'm guessing you're wondering why you were so kind to that elf, correct?" Draco asked smugly as he sat in a chair opposite his father. He knew his father's lack of response was an obvious yes.
"Well then let me explain how I met her." Draco laughed.
"When I met her on the train, I'd presented myself to Potter and picked on Weasley..." Draco said with a sneer at the memory. "She introduced herself to them... Personally, I think she just wanted to introduce herself to Potter, 'cause she'd looked at Weasley with disgust when he'd tried to get her to shake his hand." He said snickering at the memory.
Lucius also chuckled.
"Well I would have introduced myself to her right then, but she insulted me by calling me, Crabbe, and Goyal all fools for outright picking on him before she'd shown up."
The stern look on Lucius's face told him he'd better continue or be lectured for being rude to the girl by not properly introducing himself right away.
"I was so taken aback by her words, I made a mental note to introduce myself properly the next time I saw her."
Lucius shook his head and smiled.
"I had no idea how much courage she had to stand up to us like that... About an hour before we got to Hogwarts, I finally found her compartment... I won't tell you what she was doing, as I'm sure sometime during her visit here you'll witness it as well... but I finally introduced myself to her. However, I'd planned to belittle her for calling me a fool... I'd changed my mind as soon as I stepped foot into her compartment." Draco said looking away from his father. "I'm ashamed to admit... it took me several months to realize, it wasn't just me she had that sort of effect on."
Lucius's eyes widened slightly as he listened to his son.
"So far that I know of she has that sort of effect on all Slytherin's which is I think why all the other houses call her the Slytherin Princess when she gets away with something or when we back her up." Draco finished with a yawn as he was tired from the day.
~Time skip~ The next morning
Jade woke up early. She noticed the sun was barely setting. Once she realized she wasn't at Hogwarts or in her room at the Green's house, she frowned.
'I can't believe they're afraid of me now that they know I'm a witch...' She thought depressingly to herself before observing the room for the first time.
The super-soft bed she'd slept in and was still lying in was a four-poster king-sized canopy bed made from dark oak wood. On the left of the bed was a Montagna Three-Drawer Nightstand. She'd always liked them, but never had one as it alone cost more than 300 dollars in muggle money. The Greens couldn't afford it, so they bought her the cheaper knockoff version. The knockoff was made of fake wood and fake metal both painted to look like the original. Jade, however, had a sharp eye and could immediately tell which one was real, and she smiled at the one next to her. It was the real deal. She sat up and got out of bed. As soon as her bare feet hit the ground, she expected it to be cold until she could find her shoes. However, she realized she'd stepped on a rug. It was a fluffy white sheepskin rug. She picked it up and hugged it close. It was incredibly soft and smelled like fresh laundry.
She smiled and placed it back on the ground before observing the rest of the room. At the end of the bed, there was an emerald green Bowdoin Upholstered Bench with silver legs. She found her shoes near the double door exit of the room but didn't put them on immediately. She wanted to observe every inch of the room before dressing to explore the house. Jade noticed plenty of light coming from the floor-to-ceiling windows near the glass doors that led to the balcony overlooking the front view of the property. This is something she would benefit from looking at later, but right now she didn't want to move. She noticed there were no dressers.
'Maybe one of these is a closet door...' she thought to herself as she saw two doors on the wall directly in front of the bed.
