Asami tossed and turned the second night without Korra. She missed her terribly but she would not fold. Korra pissed her off by suggesting that she tell Kuvira that she forgives her. How dare she!
Asami huffed and gave up on sleep. She decided instead to get some work done.
Asami continued working until around 2am when she fell asleep.
She jumped up at the sound of her 8am alarm. She rubbed the sleep from her eyes and walked to the shower.
She turned on the water to let it get hot as she stripped.
Asami took her time getting ready. She applied her signature red lipstick and perfume, gave herself a once over in the mirror and decided she was satisfied with her look.
She grabbed her car keys and sped off towards Raiker's Prison.
The drive there was nerve wracking for Asami. She was preparing to see the person who had taken her father away from her and she wasn't sure what or how to feel.
Korra was convinced that Kuvira was truly remorseful for her actions and as a result needed to seek redemption and forgiveness from those she wronged.
Asami however felt that it was the guilt that was eating her alive and by killing herself she could escape her guilt and if she couldn't die then she could make herself feel better by getting forgiveness from those she wronged.
Well she wouldn't get forgiveness from Asami. Not in this lifetime.
Asami was aware of all the stares she was getting from the guards. No one expected her to ever visit Kuvira. Yet, here she was, going through security checks.
"Okay Miss Sato if you just go right down the hall, you'll see her cell. Are you sure you don't need an escort?"
"I'll be fine. I'll whistle if I need help," Asami said as she shrugged the guard off and strutted down the prison hallway in her boots.
Kuvira sat up from her sit ups in shock as she saw Asami in front of her cell door. "Hello Kuvira." "Asami. Of all the people I didn't think would come and visit me, you and Su were definitely at the top of the list."
"Well I can't say I'm thrilled to be here but Korra is not anything if not persistent and she insisted that I come so here I am," Asami said as she took a seat.
"What do you want to talk about?" Kuvira asked. "Korra had this insane idea that if I came and told you I forgave you then you would stop hurting yourself and find a reason to live but quite frankly I don't give a shit if you live or die. I am here for me. I came to tell you how I truly feel. You are a monster Kuvira. A true tyrant. The scum of the earth. I wish Korra had let your damn spirit weapon kill you but then again I think I'm more satisfied with the fact that you'll be spending the better half of your life behind bars with no bending. Now I know why your parents never wanted you. It's because from the moment you were born you were evil. Pure evil. Nothing good is in you. Su tried and so did Baatar. They tried to love you but you are unlovable. You don't even love yourself." Kuvira swallowed harshly. The words Asami spoke were true words but that didn't mean they didn't hurt, but even so, she wouldn't let another person see her cry. She had to be strong. She had been weak far too many times.
"You killed my last piece of family and for that I will never ever forgive you. My dad wasn't innocent. I know that, but that gave you no right to murder him in cold blood. So stay here and rot for the rest of your life or try to kill yourself again. I couldn't care less but if you do decide to attempt suicide again, make sure you succeed. That's it. That's all I have to say." Asami turned to leave but Kuvira stopped her. "Asami?" Asami froze, refusing to look the metalbender in the eyes any longer.
"What?" She forced out. "I am truly sorry. Know that I didn't kill your dad intentionally. He got in the way of my plans. He had to have known what that would have meant for him."
Asami could feel her temperature rise. She spun around in one quick motion and struck Kuvira across the cheek. The contact caught Kuvira off guard. She widened her eyes as she clutched her cheek. Asami squeezed her eyes shut before signaling to the guard that she was ready to leave.
Kuvira clutched her chest as tears streamed down her face. A painful, sinking feeling began to rise in her chest, one that hurt more than her throbbing cheek.
Asami barely made it to her car before breaking down. Asami sobbed and shook as she cried for her mother, father, Korra and the pain she felt deep inside that she could never fully get rid of, only bury.
"Damn you Kuvira! I hate you!" She screamed after her crying fit as she sped off towards her mansion.
When Asami got home, she immediately headed for her liquor cabinet. Asami wasn't much of a casual drinker. She mainly drank for celebratory reasons but after the emotional rollercoaster she found herself on, she needed this drink.
Old Asami would have gone to a bar and left with the first guy or girl to look her way but despite their huge fight, she loved Korra and the thought of cheating made her heart ache. As she downed her first glass of whiskey, she wondered if Korra missed her the same way she did Korra.
Asami skipped the glass the next time and went straight for the bottle. She knew she would have a terrible hangover in the morning but she didn't care. She would probably call in sick from work anyways. She needed this. She didn't want to think or feel.
