'12:00am' , she glanced over at the clock. Her mother had yet to be home, working another late shift in the hospital once again. So just like most midnights, it was another one where she would study till the sun rises.
Even with the priority of her other duties, she would still study and dream to become a doctor like her mother. Hours after hours from dusk till dawn, she would be studying for the perfect exam scores for a dream that'll likely never happen.
Her friends would tease her, judge her, and call her ' Mock- Exam Marauder Ami-chan', the woman who always prioritises studying over them'. She didn't care, she always made it clear to them that she would sacrifice her studies even at the cost of friendship.
To the end of the day, it was her and her friends fighting together for the rest of their lives. They were the other senshi, slowly joining her after she had been awakened after the one of the moon.
The truth was, it was the solidarity of her friends that would always come first before the perfect grades, even if it didn't look like it from above. She had been alone since she was a child, she always hid her pain as she made it seem like it was ok since she was the 'model student' everyone envied.
Her father ran and her mother worked on midnights, and she was alone to fend for herself. If it wasn't for Usagi, and her role as a senshi, to this day she would've been isolated within the depth of the night.
In the feelings of her gratitude on this summer midnight she thought of what her life would be like if she was perhaps more like the others who stood beside her…
She saw herself still working hard and that was final but she imagined being more extroverted. When Mako-chan would ask to go bargain hunting, she would tag along instead trying for a mock exam for the 1000th time because of 'Mercurius'.
She wouldn't be furious if Usagi showed up with another 30 on her test, nor would she hesitate when the others refused to study no longer.
More importantly, her wellbeing would be in a better place as she wouldn't be studying till dawn when her mother would arrive home. She would study but she would sleep…
As much as she wished for her life to be like the one in her thoughts, she knew it couldn't be. She was Ami Mizuno, and the one in her head was a different girl…
'1:00 am' she glanced at the clock again. Her mother is still yet to come home. Usually she would be studying till midnight, so like the girl she imagined in her head she decided to sleep…
She glanced at the full moon out of her bedroom window, it was bright and glowing, just like the senshi she would always protect . Before she shut her eyes, she mumbled.
"Thank you Usagi, for being my friend".
