Disclaimer: After three seasons of his impact on the world being made clear in one way or another, Blaze is finally getting his own special! This is something I've wanted to write for a long time now. Why am I showing this now? Well there's one particular element in it that I felt would work best for tying into season four. I think anyone can piece together what that is as we read onward. So let's not waste any time and get right into it!
Also, I don't own Paw Patrol.
Paw Patrol X: Blaze Part One
Twenty years before F.M.'s story began, an airship with a demon on the side was flying over the ocean. Inside the blimp, a younger Slash was speaking to someone after pouring himself some fireball. "I think we finally found your first mission." Slash looked out the window with his usual smarmy grin. "It's about time. I was beginning to think we'd been carrying around a spotted trash bag for a solid month." Slash turned around and faced the dog he was talking to directly in regards to this mission. "Why did you say you joined my army again?"
Blaze, who didn't have his scar at this point in time, was standing right before Slash, containing his fear the best he could and standing professional as he answered. "To support myself and my older brother sir!"
"Cut the sir crap. I hate titles." Slash informed Blaze, and then he looked directly into his eyes and told him exactly what he wanted him to do. "Forget about your brother." Blaze flinched when he heard that, and Slash made it clear that he wasn't messing around. "Your love for him will only hold you back from your full potential."
Blaze did his best to keep his cool as he tried to object to what Slash told him to do. "With all do respect si- Slash! Slash. I don't think I can do that."
"You mean like how you failed to read the pamphlet you were given the day you signed up?" Slash asked coldly, and Blaze nodded his head yes with Slash handing him his assignment papers. He was clearly unhappy with how the conversation went. "Your target is a well populated island that would do nicely for recruits. Whale Island, I believe it's called?"
Blaze looked at the assignment papers and found out what the real name of the island was. "Twin Flame Island actually."
Slash got a look at the paper and shrugged before sending Blaze on his way. "Well whatever it's called, it's your mission. Come on, off you go now. I'd prefer you leave BEFORE you stink up my blimp again."
"That was an accident." Blaze informed Slash, and then after he left the room, he started thinking to himself about what he got himself into. His impulsive thinking once again put him in a tight spot. 'I should've taken that pamphlet to Pongo before signing up." Blaze made his way down the hallway, and as he walked off screen, the title of the special formed.
Blaze
Blaze was making his way to Twin Flame Island via ferry, which he was sitting on the roof of while talking to Pongo. "I promise you Pongo, I'm keeping safe. And I'll be sure to send you the money as soon as I can." Blaze showed a despondent look as he looked toward Twin Flame Island. He was right about the job paying big, but not about what the job required. "I'll find a way to get out of this as well. I just have to do this one job, and we'll have the money." Blaze stood himself and braced himself just as the ferry reached the dock. "I love you too brother."
Blaze hopped off of the ferry roof and slid down the wall, only to lose his footing as he landed on the dock. "Whoa!" Blaze ended up slipping and sliding near a grown up female Dalmatian who was fishing by the dock. She looked back in surprise, and while she showed worry for Blaze, his butt was shown to be aimed right at her face as he unleashed...
PHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHT
...a loud and bassy ten second fart with a yellow cloud of rotten eggs that made Blaze's butt vibrate as the other Dalmatian was sent into the water. Blaze didn't have time to react to the fact that he farted in public. As soon as it ended, he heard the Dalmatian splash and wafted the fart cloud away while facing the end of the dock. Blaze looked into the water and saw the Dalmatian rise, profusely apologizing as he offered his paw. "I'm so sorry miss! Are you alright!?"
The Dalmatian was very forgiving, and accepted Blaze's paw with a smile as she responded to his question. "I feel like I should be asking YOU that question." Blaze helped Wave back up onto the dock as she wafted away the lingering fart cloud and pointed out his entrance. "That can't have been a pleasant fall."
"It really wasn't. Hehe." Blaze admitted, and then he offered the Dalmatian a paw shake. He started to get nervous after realizing how beautiful she was. "M-my name's Blaze."
"I'm Wave." Wave greeted happily while shaking Blaze's paw. "Want me to show you around?"
"Sounds like a splash." Blaze accepted while adding a pun into the mix. Wave couldn't help snorting as she and Blaze walked off to explore the town. After she grabbed the big container of fish she had next to her of course. Good thing is was a one paw container. Blaze tried to contain his current emotions for Wave while thinking about his mission. "Remember Blaze. One month, and you can get the money you need from Slash."
Wave was showing Blaze around town, which gave Blaze a chance to see how friendly and pretty the place was. Everyone was so kind and worked together in a much more peaceful way than he saw in Slash's community. He couldn't help comparing it to his life back home as well. The only one he worked with then was Pongo. When he saw a father Akita with blue fur embracing his two children, he thought about it even harder. It triggered a flashback to when he and Pongo were once assaulted by someone who threw a beer bottle at them in their own house.
"Blaze?" Blaze snapped out of it upon hearing Wave's voice, making him address her upon noticing her concern. "Are you okay?"
Blaze didn't want to worry Blaze, or distract himself from the mission, so he answered the best he could. "I'm fine, thanks. Just thinking about life back home."
"Ah, thinking about your relatives? You can call them at my place later if you want." Wave offered, and Blaze seeing her unconditional kindness made him start to have second thoughts about the mission, just like seeing the town did. The two then arrived to the restaurant was catching fish for. She handed the chef standing out front her container. The chef in question was a Japanese Terrier, who was impressed by the amount of fish he was getting. "Here you are Kaito! I made a big haul this time."
"I can see that!" Kaito laughed while looking at the haul. He handed Wave a check and headed inside with the fish. "Thank you so much Wave! You practically saved my week!"
Wave got a good look at the check, and Blaze couldn't help looking at it too. The check was only for seven hundred dollars; much less than the seven hundred thousand he was promised by Slash. "Not to sound rude Wave, but that doesn't look like something you can live off of."
"On it's own, probably not." Wave admitted, and then she continued walking with Blaze as she talked about how she made her living. "That's why I also do some odd jobs around town on my day's off." Blaze found Wave's work ethic interesting, and before he could ask about it, Wave got an idea on where they could go next. "You wanna see the park?"
Blaze thought for a moment and felt that this would be a good place to try out. "Can't say I've been to one often enough to know what to do there, but what the heck?" Blaze happily accepted Wave's paw and allowed her to lead the way to the park. He loved the feel of holding her paw, but the feeling also made him nervous. He hoped to God he didn't fart again, as he felt he got lucky with that first pass.
Blaze and Wave were walking around the park together, and Wave was talking about how many citizens were usually around the area. "This is where almost everyone in town goes on their days off. Or if they just want some family bonding time."
Blaze loved everything he saw in the park from the duck pond, to the grassy fields, to the canines inhabiting the place. It all spoke of a friendly and well made community to him. His standards weren't high, but he had to compliment how it all felt to him. "It's beautiful." Blaze then decided to strike a conversation regarding how hard of a worker Wave was. "A-about those odd jobs you said you do." Wave looked at Blaze, who asked his question. "How hard do they tend to be?"
"Not too hard usually." Wave answered, and then she brought up some exceptions to the rule. "Although sometimes, I'll have to do something that takes up a lot of energy, like biking around town delivering food or scouting the nearby jungle to make sure no dangerous animals are coming close."
Blaze laughed at the irony of that second one, but Wave didn't mind. She had to admit that dogs stopping other animals could seem funny to some. Blaze then made an attempt to show how he admired Wave's hard work. "I'm sure your family's really proud of what you do." The mention of family hit Wave, which Blaze quickly noticed and tried to apologize for. "Sorry, sorry. Touchy subject?"
"Kind of, yeah." Wave admitted, bringing up something to Blaze that she felt comfortable bringing up to him, since she had help handling these emotions. "My parents died when I was a puppy. Ten years ago, to be exact. They were both killed by someone who was robbing our house, and I barely had enough time to hide when I heard the gunshots." That led to Blaze thinking about his home life again. Wave saw him deep in thought and asked about his family. "What about your family?"
Blaze didn't know why, but Wave felt like someone he could open up to. The fact that she opened up to him so easily certainly helped. "The only family I ever felt close to was my brother. My dad was really mean, and my mum died of cancer when we were young."
Wave held Blaze's paw and looked to him with empathetic eyes. She not only felt it when he mentioned his deceased mother, but she knew what he meant about his dad. "I'm so sorry Blaze. I can't imagine what your father must have been like." Blaze listened closely as Wave told him something else. This explained why she spoke of her family so easily. "I'm glad you told me though. A friend of mine said that talking about your problems is the first step to recovery."
"Then I'm glad I had my brother for that." Blaze responded, and that made Wave smile back. She was glad Blaze had at least one good support system in his life.
Blaze and Wave were still in the park together an hour later, and Wave was currently feeding the birds while watching Blaze getting to know some of the other locals. He was playing a game of Tug of War with some of the other adult males. Despite Wave being a hard worker, Blaze was much more active when it came to hobbies. This was made clear by how viciously Blaze tugged the rope. It was clear that he took this game seriously. The two dogs he was pulling with could see that as well. The three against him weren't about to let up though.
All six dogs pulled with all of their might, teeth barred on the rope, and all four legs backing up firmly on the ground. The sides seemed evenly matched, and either one of them could come out the victory. Blaze's tenacity shined through however, and with one final tug, his team won the game! This led to the losing team colliding into the winning one however, which ended with all six of them in a pile. Blaze was at the bottom of the pile, and his realization that he was on the bottom led to his butt unleashing...
PFFFFFFFFFFT
...a ripe five second fart that reeked of burnt bacon from that morning's breakfast, hitting all the canines on top of him with a green cloud. He flinched upon release, and the coughing from the other dogs who wafted it away when getting off of him made it clear what he'd done. He stood up and sheepishly laughed while wafting the fart cloud away. Thankfully, one of the other dogs, a Irish Terrier, cracked a joke that made it clear he shouldn't be ashamed in that moment. "Don't beat yourself up about that one newbie. That just means the food did it's job!"
Blaze couldn't help laughing a bit at the joke with the others, only to then hear what sounded like Wave screaming. When he looked in her direction, he and the others saw a rugged looking Potcake dog trying to steal her bag. "Let go of me you jerk!"
Wave tried to fight back, but Blaze's instincts kicked in as he ran over and called out to the Potcake. "Hey! Dirtbag!" Wave and the Potcake saw Blaze running over, and he made it clear he wasn't messing around. "That bag's already paid for!" Suddenly, Blaze ended up tripping over a rock, "Whoa!" and he rolled all the way over to the Potcake's side. Wave tried to take advantage of the situation, but the Potcake ducked under her fist and grabbed it right before Blaze stood up. "I'm okay!" The Potcake tried to kick Blaze, only for him to back up just in time.
Blaze punched the Potcake in the face after he tried to pull the bag again, leading to him letting go and falling on the bench. "Ow! What are you supposed to be!? A jester or a knight!?"
"Whichever one makes you leave this fine lady alone faster." Blaze informed the Potcake, helping him get up as Wave stood right next to him, since he had it handled now. "I don't wish for this to get ugly. Leave us alone now, or I'll be forced to continue this fight!"
The Potcake started laughing until he heard some knuckles cracking behind him. He gulped and saw the dads Blake was having fun with right behind him. The Irish Terrier cracked his other paw's knuckles with the other five standing beside him, ready to teach the Potcake a lesson. He chuckled nervously before running off. "Gotta go; bye!"
After the Potcake ran off, the other dads cheered for the victory with the Irish Terrier praising Blaze. "Way to go newbie! That's how you stand up for the ladies!"
Blaze smiled in regards to the genuine praise, but was surprised with Wave kissed his right cheek as thanks. "He really does."
Blaze started blushing when Wave kissed her, and tried to hide his smile, despite her noticing. How did he already feel this way about her? He'd only known her for less than a day. Then again, feelings like this were unpredictable. At least from what he knew. The Boxer who was with them pointed this out, which made Blaze blush harder. "Just don't let it get to your head." Blaze nodded in response, and then he and Wave smiled at each other again. It would appear that this fast love was starting to become mutual thanks to Blaze's heroic act of helping her.
Wave then realized something she could do to pay Blaze back. She wanted to help him anyway, and this would be perfect timing. "Oh, that's right! You only just got here, right!? Do you have any plans for what you'll wanna do while you're here!?" Blaze realized he forgot that part of the plan and nodded his head no in response. "Don't worry. I've got your back. We'll get you all set up at my place!"
Blaze couldn't help being ecstatic as he and Wave ran off while saying goodbye to the other dogs. He just wished he had time to wrap his head around how quickly these feelings were coming to him.
Blaze and Wave arrived at an apartment complex of some kind with Blaze thinking about his mission while walking up the steps. 'As if I didn't hate why I was sent here enough. Now I have these new feelings for someone I just met? I mean, I know not ALL love happens at a slow pace, but feelings this strong so soon doesn't make any bloody sense."
"You okay Blaze?" Wave asked after looking back, catching Blaze's attention after the two reached the top of the stairs.
"Yeah, I'm okay. Just thinking about family again" Blaze lied, not wanting to tell Wave about his feelings for her so soon after they met.
As Blaze and Wave walked over to an apartment, a younger version of a familiar English Springer Spaniel left the apartment to the right. Wave smiled upon noticing her and greeted her as she walked in her direction. "Miranda; hey! Did you and Damien get that deal for your business yet?"
"Not yet, but we will be getting an interview in person to try and make it happen." Miranda answered, and then she noticed Blaze and went to greet him. "You're new in town. What's your name."
"Blaze. Blaze Munroe." Blaze informed Miranda. His real last name was Dearly, but he didn't want to risk someone coming after Pongo. So Munroe was his cover up name for the mission. He held his paw out to greet Miranda, and she happily accepted the paw shake. "I heard Wave mention you as Miranda. Are you two friends?"
"Only since Middle School." Miranda answered, and then she realized something that seeing Blaze here could mean. "Before I leave, you'll want to consider getting a job if you plan to live with Wave. She's struggling enough with rent as is, and if she loses her apartment, I can only spare one bed."
Blaze saw Miranda's serious, but friendly vibe. It made it easier to speak to her than some others since he noticed both instead of just one. "Of course!" Miranda then waved goodbye to Blaze and Wave, the former of whom stated his thoughts on meeting her. "It was nice to meet you!"
Blaze then entered Wave's apartment after she opened the door and allowed him inside. "Here it is!" As he got a look around, he admired the cozy and warm feeling the place gave off. It was better than any other place he'd lived in before. After he walked inside, Wave closed the door and went into the kitchen. "Make yourself at home Blaze. And try not to stink up the place." Blaze nodded in response while smiling nervously before Wave then went into the kitchen. "After you've settled in, we can talk about getting your job application filled out."
That made Blaze flinch. Not the application itself, but the difficulty of filling it out. He couldn't pull that off with his inability to read and write. After Wave got some supplies to make something for the two of them, he went over to the counter. He tripped over his own feet, but managed to save himself by putting his paws on the counter. This caught Wave's attention, but Blaze spoke as soon as he stood up straight. "About that. Being gassy and clumsy aren't my only setbacks."
Wave set her things down and gave Blaze her full attention. This allowed Blaze to pull up a stool and open up to her about his disability. He got straight to the point, knowing that no time should be wasted with something like this. "I have Dyslexia; and that makes it a lot harder for me to read and write like most others can. It's also why I'm such a clumsy butt. I can't tell left or right to save my life."
Wave placed her paws on Blaze's as she made it clear she was ready to help him with whatever he needed. "I'll handle the writing and reading part, and you can handle doing the actual interview." Blaze smiled with gratitude as Wave told him how she felt about helping him. "I know we became friends really fast, but I'd hate to see you end up on the streets so soon after you got here. Especially after you stood up to that thug for me." Blaze's feelings for Wave, once again, shined through as he looked into her eyes with joy. "Whatever you need, I'll be there."
"Thank you so much!" Blaze exclaimed, Feeling much more confident about this application process now than he was before. "Just let me know when you're ready to start!"
"Ha! I should be saying that to you!" Wave joked, and then she got back to her thing as Blaze watched her from the counter. He could've just slouched in front of the TV, since the place was already clean. But he found himself more interested in watching Wave at work.
The next day, Blaze was leaving a fire station in a tight and fancy blue suit. As he did, he saw Wave patiently waiting for him outside. The smile on his face made it clear he got the job, and when he got into the car, Wave couldn't wait to hear the news. "Did you get the job!?"
"I sure did!" Blaze answered, being so excited that he almost forgot about his mission. "I start tomorrow when the school week starts! The only thing they warned me about was that I had to make sure I didn't fart too much on the job."
Wave then started hugging Blaze, much to his surprise, but also to his comfort. "And we're gonna make sure that happens together!" Wave then hugged Blaze a little too tight, which led to an expulsion of sorts when his butt was shown in his tight and fancy blue suit...
PFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFT
...that expulsion was a ripe and nasty ten second fart that made a yellow cloud of rotten eggs exit Blaze's vibrating butt. He was holding that one since he left the house. in and Wave were surrounded by the gas blast, and Wave coughed and gagged with her eyes watering a bit before she rolled down the window. Blaze blushed all over his face as he apologized profusely. "Sorry; sorry; sorry!"
Wave kept her smile however, still being happy for Blaze, and drove off after the gas left her car. "I'll just remember not to do it too tight next time." Blaze couldn't help sighing of relief. No matter how often he farted in front of her, Wave was never disgusted by him.
A montage of Blaze's time in Twin Flame Island began with upbeat music, and it started with the end of the week at Wave's apartment, where Blaze came home covered in soot. She was cleaning the house, so Blaze stood outside. When she noticed him, he proudly held up his check, which was for eight hundred and twenty seven dollars! Wave was so proud of him that she ran up to him and hugged him. She didn't even care about the soot. Blaze wrapped his arms around her while once again, feeling the warm and supportive vibe he got just from being around Wave.
At the end of the second week, Blaze was looking around for Wave in the park. He spotted her feeding some ducks by the pond, and when he ran over to her, he ended up tripping again. He then rolled over to Wave, who checked to see if he was okay. He confirmed this to be the case when he smiled and showed Wave something he bought for her. It was a figurine of a rainbow trout, which captured Wave's love for fishing. He was even happier when he saw Wave's appreciative smile.
At the end of the third week, Blaze was bowling with his Twin Flame Island friends at the bowling alley. He was getting ready to line up his shot, and when he ran to throw it, it went... about as well as you'd expect. He managed to let go of the ball, thankfully, but it ended up flying out of his paw after he tripped. By some miracle, he managed to knock down the last two pins in a split, winning his team the game. They cheered while also making sure he wasn't too hurt from the fall. He couldn't help but cheer alongside them, even if the win was of pure luck.
The montage ended, and the day after the bowling game, Wave was teaching Blaze how to sew. It wasn't easy for him, but thanks to Wave, he was able to start getting the steps down after about an hour or two. He finished sewing the piece of cloth Wave had him working on. After he was done, he laughed happily at the success. "I did it Wave! It's all sewn up!"
"It sure is!" Wave praised Blaze happily, and then Blaze got a call on his phone and looked to find that it was from Slash. Wave assumed it was his boss and got up to give him some privacy. "The Fire Chief must really like you to call this much. Let me know when the call's done."
Wave left the room with Blaze checking out her butt before shaking his head and focusing on the call. He walked to the other side of the apartment and answered the call. He knew exactly what Slash was calling him about. "If it's about the bloody mission Slash, then don't worry. I know you're coming in eight days to find new recruits."
Slash was on the other end sipping some fireball while kicking a soldier into the wall for flipping him off. "Smashing!" After Blaze heard the thud, Slash made it clear that he wanted him to be as ready as possible for the attack. "You've done quite well winning the public's favor Blaze. You clearly know how to work with others."
"Hehe. Yes. I suppose I do." Blaze couldn't help thinking about how much he'd gained here from day one. Wave helped him learn the value of hard work, which he loved much more than this quick and easy job Slash gave him. And he had genuine feelings for Wave, feelings he wanted to act on. And the community here was so friendly and warm. The feeling of guilt that punched him in the gut over this was beyond explanation. Even if it was for Pongo, it wasn't worth ruining this town. So Blaze took action. "Will the soldiers you send be your strongest?"
"No, something like this would be far too easy for them." Slash informed Blaze, finishing his fireball and throwing it at the wall before finishing his words. "The soldiers I send will be strong, but only strong enough to take ill-prepared citizens. One must know when to be ruthless, and when not to be, after all."
Blaze felt relieved upon hearing that, which he obviously didn't let Blaze know. He smiled as he crossed his fingers and ended the call. "I promise I won't let you down."
"Good. Because if you do, you'll be dead." Slash informed Blaze, and then he hung up and allowed Blaze to put his phone away.
Blaze looked across the hallway with his mind made up. He knew he wouldn't get the money he needed, and that broke his heart. But now, he had to focus on saving Twin Flame Island. And his first step to that was walking down the hallway and telling Wave the truth.
He prayed that Wave wouldn't hate him once he did.
Blaze was right outside of Wave's bedroom door, raising his paw to knock and get her attention. He thought of Pongo again, but then shook his head and reminded himself that helping him and his older brother, wasn't worth saving Twin Flame Island. "I'm sorry Pongo."
Blaze knocked on the door with no turning back, and Wave gave him the go ahead to come in. "It's open Blaze!"
Blaze opened the door and got straight to telling Wave the truth. Her concerned look upon seeing his remorseful look showed how much she cared. "Wave... there's something I have to tell you." Blaze walked over to Wave, who allowed him to sit down on her bed as he continued. "It's not going to be easy to explain, or easy to take in I imagine."
"Oh no. Did you get fired?" Blaze asked concernedly, being ready to help Blaze find another job if that were the case.
Blaze wasn't upset about the assumption. Considering Wave thought it was the Fire Chief calling, along with his sorrow expression, thinking that made sense. "Something like that." Wave gave Blaze her full attention as he told her the truth. "Are you familiar with Slash Ralston?"
"No, I can't say he's ever come up around here." Wave admitted, proving that Slash's presence was one that Twin Flame Island was ignorant to. "Who's he?"
"He's a dictator. And he gave me a mission involving this town." Blaze revealed, and Wave was shocked when he told her what he was supposed to do. "In one month's time, he's going to come to Twin Flame Island and recruit as many citizens as he can into his army. Those he can't recruit... I believe he'll try to kill."
Wave couldn't help but feel betrayed after hearing this information. She couldn't believe what she'd just learned. The canine she was helping for three weeks was actually in town doing a dictator's work. "So... these past three weeks, all happened because of a mission to attack my town?" Blaze nodded his head yes, and Wave kept her cool to at least learn why Blaze would assist in a town attack. "What could've led to you getting involved in something like that?"
"I thought the work was far more honorable at first." Blaze revealed, elaborating on that so Wave could get the clear picture she needed. "I learned of Slash through a poster one of his soldier's gave me. The price was the only thing I could make out." Blaze did his best to avoid choking out of guilt during the explanation. "My brother and I had been homeless for years. As soon as I turned eighteen to be exact. I should've gone to him to clarify the poster's words. But I was so excited that I went to the location of Slash's ship without thinking to sign up."
Wave allowed Blaze to continue, knowing that he was genuinely sorrowful about what he'd done. "He's waiting for me back in London right now. At first, that was all that was driving me. But after I came to Twin Flame Island, after you helped me get that firefighter job, after I learned the values of hard work and a loving community through what you and the citizens of this town have taught me... I eventually stopped desiring the seven hundred thousand dollars this mission offered."
Wave was amazed to hear that Blaze was getting that much money for a mission as simple as soldier recruitment. "Seven hundred thousand dollars." Wave took a few seconds to contemplate what she'd just learned before continuing the conversation. "You said you stopped wanting the money. Does that mean you... like it here? You loved the time you spent with me?"
"I cherish it with all of my heart." Blaze answered sincerely, and the look in his eyes told Wave that he was telling the truth. "From the moment we met, and you started showing me around Twin Flame Island, the second thoughts I was having grew even stronger. And I realized that I want to at least try and protect Twin Flame Island now." Blaze took Wave's paws as he expressed his remorse for his actions. "Wave. I'm so sorry. I understand if you can't forgive my deception. Even if you don't, I'll find a way to warn everyone in town and help them prepare."
Wave knew that Blaze was an honest canine, despite his dishonest actions regarding why he came to Twin Flame Island. The fact that he told her about the attack soon enough to help everyone prepare definitely helped. And she valued the time she spent with Blaze as well. She could tell he loved his time here, and loved Twin Flame Island, by how sincere he was about all of this. And she wasn't going to sit by and let her home be attacked. "You won't be able to do it alone."
Blaze loved the sound of that with him and Wave standing up as she started telling him what she had in mind. "The Mayor's office should still be open. I can get into contact with him and see if he can get everyone in the park to let us warn them about the attack."
"That would be perfect!" Blaze said ecstatically, and then he brought up how impressed he was by Wave being in touch with the Mayor. "You sure have a lot of connections."
"It's the perk of good word about you being spread." Wave stated proudly as she took her phone out. She then started thinking about Pongo and advised Blaze to fill him in. "You should let your brother know about your decision before then." Blaze nodded and took his phone out to do that, but before Wave called the Mayor, she needed one more piece of information. "How long do we have to prepare right now?"
"Eight days." Blaze answered, and Wave took note of that as she then made a call to the Mayor of Twin Flame Island. Blaze then took his phone out and went down to Pongo's number. He hated having to go back on his mission so late into it; not because he wanted to do it, but because he and Pongo needed the money. He hoped Pongo would be as understanding about it as he thought he would.
Blaze made the call to Pongo, who who was delighted to hear from his younger brother. "Blaze! Delightful to hear from you little brother!"
"Same. However, there's something I have to tell you." Blaze breathed in through his nose and out from his mouth to prepare himself for what he was about to tell Pongo. After three weeks of staying dedicated to the mission, he could only imagine Pongo's reaction to him backing out of it. He told Pongo the second he was prepared enough for his reaction. "I'm going against Slash... and helping Twin Flame Island defend themselves against his attack."
To be continued.
