Of Angels And Demons: Side Lessons
Summary: Kagome Higurashi. No longer human yet not a Demon or an Angel, she was something in between and now she's the one thing that can tie all three realms together... if only she can survive her first year at RAD. Collection of inter and non interconnected drabbles
AN: I had originally planned on making Of Angels And Demons a drabbles series for the various ideas and etc that hit me buuuuuut the intro chapters have evolved into their own plot thus we now have this 'side series'. This will be where I put all the interconnected and non interconnected drabbles/oneshots set in the same universe as the 'main lesson' but not in any order. Much like how there's the main story line in the game and the events and devilgrams in game.
Please feel free to request pairings or give out themes or suggestions.
Lesson 1-A: Satan
Shopping
It was just another typical fall day in Japan, cool but not so much that she needed more than the dark green coat wrapped around her beige turtleneck dress, her black knit tights keeping her long legs warm. Ever since they had reconnected her wardrobe had mysteriously started to encompass the dark green color more and more...
"Mah, Kagome look, it's another first edition!" His voice was low as to not disturb the other customers in the store yet the excitement it held made her smile as she came to stand next to her shopping companion. There in his hand was a book on traditional Shinto beliefs. Hard to believe it did not burst into flames sitting in the demon's hands, his green painted finger nails popping against the rich dark leather it was bound in.
"Mmm...not bad...I take it, you want it?" Of course he did, he was a lover of knowledge and books. Sadly her wallet really was starting to take a hit, this was book store number three of the day. They'd woken up early, him earlier then her to make them breakfast, and had decided that they would spend the day book hunting. He wanted to let out some stress after his latest fight with his 'bastard of an older brother', honestly it was like Inuyasha and Sesshomaru all over again yet she had yet to ever even see this mysterious elder sibling.
Not that she thought she ever would, she had no reason to visit the Devildom and he had no reason to visit the human realm. Hell, the only reason Satan was staying in her apartment for the last week was due to the fact that he always crashed at her place when he came to the human realm.
It was a part of their pact.
Normally it was the demon who catered to the human yet their pact was made under less than favorable circumstances...and he never let her forget it.
"Mmm...maybe...we'll put it in the maybe pile." He moved to the nearby table and placed it onto a pile that was maybe ten books high. Mentally wincing, she merely smiled and nodded, moving to browse the nearby bookshelf, her fingers gently trailing over the spines, trying to find something that called out to her.
If she was going to make a dent in her savings account she might as well find a few books for herself. So busy browning the spines of the various tomes she missed the fond serene smile he tossed her, his green eyes glowing with a light that only she could bring to the forefront.
Hard to believe she, who used to be the bane of his existence, was now his source of comfort. The first person his mind ran to whenever he was having a particularly bad day, wanting to see her smile or hear her light laughter.
He was supposed to have her wrapped around his finger, not the other way around...
"Oh Satan look, isn't this part of the series you were collecting...do you need this volume?" He blinked, shaking away his thoughts and musings to take in the small orange tome in her hand. His eyes widened, he'd been looking for that exact volume for years. The author had died a few hundred years prior and it was so very hard to find a first print edition.
"Oh, it is! Put that in the for sure pile! After we're done here we can stop off at that small café you were talking about, my treat." Kagome smiled, shaking her head as she placed it on the pile of fifteen books. Glad to have made such a bright smile bloom on his face. Though he often wore a smile on his lips it never reached his eyes, it was never truly genuine and it was rare to see such a smile grace his lips.
Though she mused maybe it was a good thing, if he smiled like that more often he would more than likely gather a human following and that's all she needed. As if his ego wasn't big enough as it was. Hiding her smile behind a book she waved off his curious look and went back to browsing, her mind already picking out coffees, teas, and pasties off the menu of the café of their next pit stop.
He would regret making it his treat!
