A/N: It's time for another Bonesology Summer fan fiction Challenge, of the six challenge prompts given I am going to do Summer Holidays. These will be one shots of various lengths unless otherwise noted. All one shots will take place post season 12 and will focus mainly on Booth Brennan and their family. Other characters may appear . The challenge runs from the summer solstice (June 21) to the autumn equinox (Sept 23.)
June 21: June Solstice
Booth finished teeing his tie and reached an arm out to pulled Brennan to him to steal a kiss before they got Christine and Hank up and out the door for a day at day camp and daycare.
"Happy first day of summer, Bones!"
Brennan smiled as Booth started kissing her, "happy June Solstice, Booth."
"Since it's the first day of summer and the longest day of the year we should celebrate by roasting hot dogs and marshmallows on the fire pit and let Christine and Hank play outside until the sun goes down or they fall asleep, whichever comes first."
"They'll love that. We'll have to go to the store and get supplies."
"Yeah, today is a paperwork day for me if we don't have a case. I can leave a little early and run by the store before I pick everybody up."
Brennan nodded, "don't forget the peanut butter cups for Christine's S'mores…"
"I won't and the chocolate graham crackers…"
"We have some of those, I used them as a bribe to get Hank to take cough medicine when he had a cold last month."
Booth laughed and sipped on his suit jacket; Brennan smoothed his lapels. "He had a constant cough and needed rest. If he took the medicine he got one sheet broken in half and some non-dairy milk. He would sit on my lap and take the meds and usually eat only half of the graham cracker before falling asleep."
"I'll get another box. I think we'll have breakfast sandwiches today."
"Sounds good to me. Be sure to use up the strawberries before they go bad…"
"Got it."
B&B
Later that night Christine was sitting next to Brennan eating her second S'more, this one with milk chocolate instead of peanut butter cups. "Mommy, tonight was so much fun, but why isn't it dark out? It's bedtime."
Brennan smiled as she wiped a strand of melted marshmallow off Christine's cheek. "I'm glad you had fun tonight I did too. it's not dark yet because today is the June solstice, the first day of summer and the longest day of the year. During the summer solstice the Earth is tilted the most towards the sun giving us one day of the most sunlight….."
"Oh. I'm gonna go see if daddy will look for lightning bugs with me…."
"Okay, go inside and wash your hands and face first…"
"Okay."
