Jessica was dragging her to yet another party. "It's going to be so much fun."

"Come on, babe. We never go out" He chuckled; the whole table joined.

"Fine, fine." Rosalie laughed it out even if she wanted to roll her eyes. "I guess I could go."

"Oh, my god. Yes!" Jessica made a big gesture with her hands "It's in the Cullen's house, me and the girls will pick you up."

The Cullens were the picture-perfect family. Carlisle Cullen -a way overqualified Doctor in Fork's hospital- and Esme Cullen -a housewife- were the adopted parents of Alice, Edward, and Jasper who also attended Forks High School.

Rosalie actually kind of liked Alice. They had art class together and she seemed like a nice girl. Unique and not afraid of being her true self. Rose admired that.

She hoped they would be friends one day, but she doubted Alice would like that. Too cool for her.

Friday night, Jessica and the girls picked her up as promised. She wore one of her nicest sundresses. The ocean blue one that went with her eyes.

The Cullens had a big and fancy house. Too fancy to be in a small town like Forks anyway. They didn't have any neighbors and the house had a lot of trees.

The inside was even better, even if right now was full of drunk teenagers dancing to Paramore. The decor was modern and almost rustic. Who would have thought it could be a good combination?

"We're going for drinks." Jessica shouted over the loud music "We'll be right back."

Rose nodded and watched them get lost in the crowd.

A few minutes later, she felt a heavy arm around her. Emmett was here.

"Hey, babe." He was with the full football team thus meant he was going to play caveman. He kissed her in front of the boys for a few long seconds. He stuck his tongue. He never stuck his tongue! Ugh, what a show-off.

The boys whistled and one of them shook his shoulder "Get a room!"

"Might do," Emmett smirked down at her.

The night went on like that. Emmett's arm around her shoulder while he played beer-pong with the boys and while they danced drunkenly to the music.

"I'm going to the bathroom." She tried to get out of Emmett's hold.

"What?" He shouted between laughs and sips of alcohol.

"Bathroom!"

He let her go and she left the big crowd.

Finally!

The house was big enough to get lost in. A labyrinth almost.

In this part of the house, the music was just a background melody. A hum.

She took the wooden stairs, and it took her to a few open rooms. Some were occupied with couples making out, others just chatting. In one of the sofas, there was a girl she knew, Bella Swan. The daughter of the chief. Bella was presumed to be dating one of the Cullens, Edward. He was handsome and rich; Jessica and the girls were totally in love with him.

She was pretty in a girl-next-door type of way.

Bella was with a guy she had never seen before. While Bella's beauty was simple and typical, her friend's beauty was unique. One of a kind. The kind of beauty you could see once and never forget about it. From his tan skin to his slanted dark eyes; he was quite handsome.

The only way Rose could think to describe his eyes were eyes that belong to a predator. He had the physique of a predator too. Almost as tall as Emmett but Bella's friend had an elegance -a grace almost- that Emmett could only dream of having.

He was built like when men were much more primal and needed to protect their women and family. Like he needed to go hunt for food and actually fight for his life to kill said food and be able to provide for his family or something.

He must have felt Rosalie's eyes on him because his eyes zeroed in on her. She jumped a little from the intensity his eyes presented.

He was sort of beautiful.

Rosalie disappeared behind one of the walls. She never liked to be under such scrutiny. Her heart was beating like crazy. It was time to get back to the party.

Emmett was pretty much where she left him. Thus, she decided to look for the girls to ask for a ride home.

What was the point of insisting she go to a party if they were going to bail on her the moment they got there? And they did that, every single time.

After almost fifteen minutes of trying and failing to find the girls, Rosalie decided to go to the kitchen for a soda.

Rose must have zoned out therefore did not see that she was in the way of someone and collided with his hard chest.

The apology was out of her mouth before she could even look at the owner of said hard chest.

It was him.

Bella's friend.

Her heart stopped for a moment he was even more handsome this close. Quite intimidating too.

She smiled shyly, "I'm sorry–"

"Watch where you're going" He grunted with such fire behind his eyes. His brows were furrowed in disgust.

She gasped and turned to watch him go.

Rosalie blinked. What? Why?

Why did he look at her with such revulsion? That look was not from someone who you just met and even if you're annoyed, they had spilled your drink or collided with you, you just smile awkwardly, go, and roll your eyes at them privately.

Okay, he was out of her league but was she so disgusting to cause such reaction?

The walk to her house was long and cold.

The house was empty when she opened the door, but Rose felt even emptier.

It took her longer to get to sleep that night only to be interrupted by her dreams.

She was running and running. An animal –big and imposing– was running after her. Eyes so big with aversion and animosity.
