So, this wasn't the chapter I had planned. We will get the Baby!Kol installment next time, I promise. This was an idea that popped into my head when I kept getting a lot of responses saying what angels Hayley and Caroline are for putting up with the Mikaelson brothers. I figured, they need a much deserved break...but would they really take it well? This is more of a future-fic, takes place at least a few months after the current events, when Klaroline and Marcel's situation is more defined. We'll resume regularly scheduled programming next time.

"Here."

Hayley barely has time to blink before her husband presses a small envelope in her hands. She studies it for a moment.

"What's this?"

Elijah shrugs, a mischievous smile on his face. "Just open it."

Hayley cocks an eyebrow. "Elijah Mikaelson, what did you do…" She trails off as she tears open the seal. Inside is a business card advertising the Windsor Court Spa. "You wanted to show me a spa?"

He chuckles. "Not just show you. There's an account set up there, for you and Caroline to take the day and pamper yourselves."

Hayley smiles a little, meeting his charming eyes. "It's not even our birthdays or anything like that."

"No, but you two certainly deserve the break." Elijah takes a step forward, wrapping his arms around her waist. "Putting up with the infuriatingly stubborn Mikaelson brothers. Caroline keeping Marcel from murdering Klaus." Hayley giggles as he traces her cheek with his pinky. "And you, taking care of Kol."

"He's my baby, of course I do."

"Even so, you work very hard and you deserve a break." Elijah bends down and gently kisses her.

Hayley cradles his cheek. "Well, thank you." She pecks his lips. "I'll have to call Caroline and organize a time for us to go."

"Oh, you're going today."

She raises her brow once again. "Excuse me?"

Elijah's proud smile takes over once again.

"I knew you'd make a million excuses and put it off, so, I arranged for it to happen today. Klaus called a car. It shall be here shortly."

Hayley's mouth drops a little as she pulls away from him. "But…" She shakes her head. "No, I promised Kol I'd help him with his homework."

"I can easily do that."

"Still…oh," Hayley snaps her fingers. "If he drops, he may want to feed. If I'm not here…"

Elijah shakes his head. "You pumped last night, correct?"

"Yes, but…"

"Hayley," Elijah settles his strong hands on her shoulders, looking her directly in the eyes. "No matter what you say, you shall go."

Haley's lips tug down. "I can't just leave my responsibilities."

"They're my responsibilities too. I raised Kol on my own before you moved in. I remember how to tend to my boy." He pauses, worry etched on his face. "Unless…do you not like the spa?"

Hayley sighs, shaking her head. "It's not that," she does her best not to whine. "Of course I'd love to go. It's just not realistic. Kol needs me."

"He needs a well-rested mama." Elijah rests his forehead against hers. She inhales his cologne, her anxiety melting a bit. "You do so much for us. I want to give you a bit of a break."

"I really don't mind…"

"I know you don't, which is why I arranged for this," he whispers.

Elijah kisses her nose. Hayley feels the smile come back to her face.

"You really arranged all this for me?"

"Of course, my darling."

She wraps her arms around his neck. "You deserve a break too."

"You often give them to me. 'Tis your turn." He rubs his nose against hers, making her giggle. "Go enjoy yourself."

Hayley lets out a soft sigh. "You'll call me if you need anything?"

"Of course. I have a feeling we won't, however." His lips drag against her chin.

A disgusted voice echoes from the doorway to the living room. "Haven't we discussed you two kissing in public spaces?"

They break apart, Hayley snickering at the sight of their son while Elijah rolls his eyes. Kol takes a step into the room.

"I'm very young and have impressionable eyes."

Elijah shakes his head. "I thought you were eating lunch."

"I finished, and did the dishes." He nods his head at his mom. "Is she gonna go?"

Hayley puts her hands on her hips. "You knew about this?"

"Yup. Dad told me to keep it a surprise."

Hayley looks at her husband. Elijah shrugs. "'Tis not as if I told him to keep something dire from you."

"I think it's a good idea," Kol pipes up. "Gives me more time to drive Dad crazy."

Elijah playfully narrows his eyes and vamps over, grabbing his son and tickling his sides. Kol screeches, kicking his legs.

"Daddy!"

"You are being a wily little bugger today," Elijah teases, getting him under the armpits.

Kol continues laughing. Hayley watches the two with an amused smile. Eventually, Elijah lets up. Their son quickly starts to fix his hair. Hayley appears before him and starts fixing it.

"Are you okay if I go?"

Kol nods. "Yes."

"Are you sure? I promised you we'd do your homework…"

"Dad can do it." He widens his smile off his mom's frown. "Mama, we'll be just fine."

Hayley pushes another strand of hair back, examining it. "What if you need me?"

"I have Dad plus Nik."

"I saw Marcel's car out front, you two…"

"We shall be fine, Mama." Kol widens his eyes, jutting out his lip a little. "I promise."

Hayley sighs, kissing his forehead, then his both of his cheeks. Kol squirms a little, but doesn't pull away.

"You be good for your daddy, alright?" Hayley reminds him. "Don't get up to too much mischief." Kol rolls his eyes, earning him a pop to his bottom. "Kol."

"Yes, Mama. I'll be good. I promise."

Caroline walks into the room with Klaus, chatting. Or rather, Caroline is talking while Klaus just nods his head.

"Remember, you are not to bring up that argument you two had last night," she says. "It was completely ridiculous."

"I was simply reminding him how to make…" Caroline gives him a Look and he grows quiet. "Yes, love."

"Good. Oh, and convince him to sleep here tonight. He shouldn't be alone right now."

"Already the plan."

Caroline blows a strand of curls out of her eye. She spots Hayley.

"Ambushed too?"

Klaus scoffs off Hayley's nod. "The lot of you act like we're shipping you off to war."

"Simply unexpected, babe," Caroline pecks his lips. She looks back at her sister-in-law. "I hear the car pulling up."

Hayley presses a few more kisses to Kol's face. Her son manages to keep a smile, without complaint.

"I shall be good, Mama. I promise."

"That's my good little lovebug," she gently squeezes his cheeks before looking up at Elijah. "Take good care of my baby, alright?"

"Of course, darling." Elijah pecks her lips. "Enjoy your time, relax."

Hayley nods. "I will. Thank you for this."

"It's what you deserve."

After a few more kisses for both her boys, Hayley pulls off in time to see Caroline and Klaus finishing up their own goodbyes. The two head into the parlor and grab their bags, walking out onto the porch. A silver town car sits out front, with a driver holding open the door. Caroline links her arm through Hayley's.

"Let's enjoy our day off," she declares.

The hybrid nods with a grin. "Let's."

Hayley lays across the table, letting out a soft moan as the muscular man's hands dig into her shoulders. Her sister-in-law makes similar noises nearby. The only sound outside her and Caroline is the soft, instrumental music flowing from the speakers in the ceiling. An overwhelming scent of citrus and vanilla floats around the dimly lit room. Some kind of oil is massaged into the skin not covered by the most comfortable towel Hayley has ever touched.

"I don't think I've ever gotten a massage before," she muses, her face still in the circular headrest.

"I have," Caroline pipes up, her voice serene. "But not in a very long…oh!" She yelps. "Time."

Hayley giggles as the masseur asks her sister-in-law if she's okay. Her own bends down.

"Too much?"

"Not at all," she promises.

He resumes working down her body, hitting a knot in her back that she didn't know she had. She didn't even know it was possible for hybrids to experience anything like that. Little by little, the rubbing relieves it. Hayley shuts her eyes, allowing her senses to commit to the relaxing environment around her.

She doesn't notice at first when it ends, until Caroline's masseur tells them to relax before their next appointment. The two men's scent leave the room. Hayley sits up on the table, holding the towel up over herself. Caroline does the same.

"What's next on our list?" The sister-in-law asks, picking up the menu from the small table beside her. "We've done facials, mani-pedis. Oh, the bath soaks. They're supposed to rejuvenate our skin."

Hayley snorts. "Us? Having to worry about our skin?"

"I suppose it's the aesthetic of it." Caroline shrugs, setting the menu down.

"No, you're right. It was really nice of the guys to set this up for us."

"It was," Caroline smiles a little, her feet dangling just above the floor. "I already knew they appreciated all we do, but it's nice for them to show it."

"Oh, Elijah's not shy about that…" Hayley trails off with a small smirk.

Caroline matches it. "How does that work? I mean, doesn't Kol end up in your bed a lot?"

"There are other times of the days to have sex," she says, wiggling her eyebrows. "For one, he's at school for a good chunk of the day."

"Ah, see, that's when I'm squashing most of the incidents between Marcel and Klaus. The evening is all we have."

"Who would've guessed both would end up with dynamics like these?" Hayley muses. "I certainly didn't expect it when I first met Elijah."

"Same with Klaus, but…it humanized him. Partially why I fell in love with him."

Hayley smiles, wiggling her freshly painted lavender toes. "Same with Elijah," she whispers.

She gnaws on her lip. Caroline holds up a hand.

"Okay, okay, no. We talked about this, remember? We're here to relax. Not think about everything back home."

"I'm trying," Hayley sighs. "This is amazing, all of it. Truly relaxing. I love every minute of it, but…"

Caroline fiddles with her wedding band. "You miss your boys?" Hayley nods. She sighs. "Me too."

"It was really sweet of them to do this," Hayley says. "I just don't think they get it, ya know?"

"Oh, I think they do. How often do they spend the entire day away from their sons if they can help it?" Hayley hums in agreement. "They don't even realize it."

"Maybe, we should concoct a plan to make them feel the way we do right now."

Caroline giggles. "A revenge relaxation day?"

Hayley smiles. "We'll have to find a way to market it better." She lets out a content sigh. "I am glad there's someone I can talk to about all this. I love Rebekah, but she doesn't get it."

"Well, what are sister-in-laws for?"

She reaches forward and squeezes Hayley's hand. The hybrid returns it, the grin not leaving her face.

"So," Hayley says. "Idea. We skip the bath and go to the bar down the street. Because honestly, that sounds pretty damn relaxing to me right about now."

Caroline giggles, nodding. "Wait, can you drink?"

"Pump and dump, it's my best friend."

"Then let's get dressed!"

Hayley giggles as she stumbles into the bedroom. Elijah looks up, holding a finger to his lips. Hayley glances beside him and sees her son, asleep.

"Aww," she loudly whispers.

Elijah tilts his head, a tiny smirk on his face as she wobblily walks the rest of the way. Hayley lays on the other side of Kol.

"Strange," Elijah murmurs. "When the car didn't come back at the expected time, I called the driver. He said you and Caroline snuck out of the spa."

Hayley shrugs. "Maybe."

"And from the smell of it, I can only guess where you went."

"We just had a drink…and a shot…" Hayley counts on her fingers. "Okay, maybe more than one."

Elijah shakes his head, the smirk not leaving his lips. "It had to be plenty considering how much it takes for a hybrid to get drunk."

"I am not drunk, I'm buzzed," Hayley corrects. "Big difference." She looks down at Kol, running her fingers through his hair. "Was he good?"

"He was my little prince. A little naughty, but over all very sweet."

"I missed him." Hayley kisses the top of his head, inhaling his shampoo.

Elijah reaches over and places his hand over hers. "So, why did you leave?" His brows furrow. "Did you not like the spa?"

"Oh, no, no, we loved it, very relaxing." Hayley shrugs. "We just also missed our boys. And the quiet wasn't helping."

"So, you went to a noisy bar and had fun that way."

Hayley nods. "Are you upset?"

"Nay, darling," Elijah cups her cheek. "All I wanted was for you to have a fun, relaxing day."

"I did," she whispers. "Thank you."

He kisses her, savoring some of the tequila dripping from her tongue. Hayley adjusts herself against the pillows and pulls Kol into her arms. He stirs and sticks his thumb in his mouth, but doesn't wake up. Hayley smiles down at him.

"Besides," she whispers. "Caroline and I have decided that you and Klaus will spend the day playing golf next weekend."

"Golf? But…"

"All day long, at a course a couple of hours away." Hayley nuzzles her cheek against Kol's. "I need to make up for the time I lost with my baby."

Elijah's voice comes out rushed, panicked. "You cannot expect me to spend the entire day away from him, Hayley."

She ignores his arguments, simply cuddling her son close with a smirk on her face. Elijah eventually nudges her in the arm, grumbling about no good deed going unpunished.
